Excellent facilities, breakfast and location. Highly recommend. Only issue was one employee who worked in the dining room who started banging dishes, scowling and making a raucous almost the minute breakfast was over. Anywhere else, our experience is that staff would say that they are closing and inform patrons to get anything else they wanted before the out away the buffet.

Nice walk from hotel to the old city. Would stay again.

There's a welcome drink at check in, which is a nice touch. Decent size room with a good size south facing balcony (worth the extra cost). Spacious and clean bathroom.

Pool clean but totally very warm in October, despite the sunny weather. Plenty of sun loungers available. Pool access is through the gym though which is rather strange, or via reception on the floor above.

The indoor pool is very small, short and narrow, ok to lounge about in, but you can't really swim. There is a sauna and steam room too, but these are also quite small. One annoying feature is that pool towels are only available at reception for a €10 deposit, annoying if you arrive at the spa and then have to go back up to reception on the floor above to get a towel. I don't know why this couldn't be done in the spa itself.

Good choice at breakfast, especially the hot food selection, but the pastries are a poor, and not very well displayed, just thrown onto a plate. The dining room is also quite noisy being a hard floor, with chairs being moved etc. Piano player during breakfast is a nice touch, as is the sparkling wine.

The roof bar is a great place in the evening, often with live music, food and snacks available too.

During our stay one of the lifts was out of service for 5 days, meaning there was always a long wait.

All in all, a good hotel with great facilities and also only 5 minutes walk to the town centre.

Grundsätzlich ein sehr schönes Hotel. Das Frühstück war super mit einer tollen Auswahl.
Auch das Zimmer war sauber.
Allerdings sind es Kleinigkeiten, die es dann doch abwerten. Die Gardinen hang nicht in allen Ösen fest, die Elektrik kam aus der Wand, das Holz an den Türen war abgesplittert. Dingen die schnell zu beheben sind und nicht direkt auffallen.

Loved the rooftop bar but that was about all. The corridors were very dark and the rooms had no drawers for clothes, just hanging space. The worst thing was the building work opposite the breakfast and pool area, this created noise and dust and I feel we should have been advised of this before travel - we actually came home 2 days early as we had booked for my birthday and it was really disappointing.

Adults only. Room was nice and had everything we needed. Rooftop bar permitted children whiich is odd for a adults only hotel, explanation was rooftop bar is opened to public. Could have more staff in bar and in the restaurant at breakfast, some days tables not cleared. There is construction work right opposite rear of hotel where pool area is situated, which resulted in some very loud noise and dust. We were not made aware of this. We will ho back but when the construction work has finished. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Although we did not take advantage of many facilities, the pool was excellent. Much larger and deeper than most city hotels and great for swimming.
Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the piano player every morning playing a great variety of easy listening music.

We had a very pleasant stay here. The hotel was clean, tidy and well maintained, the service at reception was good, the food and service at the restaurant was excellent, we were HB, never had a bad meal. The service at the pool bar and restaurant was very good. Our room was big, comfortable, however we arrived at 9.30pm and the additional quilt we had requested and agreed by the hotel for a guest with very bad arthritis was not provided (in house management issue), this issue eventually sorted and bed made by guests. We used the terrace bar one evening but had to wait 30 minutes for 1 beer and 1 soft drink while cocktails took priority, we did not use that bar again (I note it was an issue previously raised - management should monitor and provide assistance and not merely make platitudes in reply to reviews). Local area, there is a landscaping protect being undertaken at the back of the hotel, at times it was both noisy and dusty by the poolside, however it was noted the project site were constantly damping the area throughout the day. All in all we had a nice stay at this hotel just a shame about the arrival and the bar. The external issue is clearly outside of the hotels control. Tavira, a lovely ancient town, is undergoing much renovation work \" very slowly!\" There are many restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk of the hotel but there is no noisy night life. Although I have mentioned a couple of negative areas we had a lovely stay and would happily return.

I am afraid, my overall impression of our stay at this Hotel, was not up to our expectations. Based on the Hotels 4* rating, it certainly does not live up to it. Our first impressions as we went from Reception, through the glass doors to walk to the pool, were disappointing. The Doors and Glass Bannisters were very dirty and you could see had not been cleaned at all. I appreciate that you have the building work opposite creating dust (Which was a surprise in itself and obviously disappointing) however these could be simply wiped down am and pm to improve the look of the Hotel. We then went to the Pool Bar for our first drink and light lunch only to be handed a Menu that was old, dirty and tatty, not the best impression and made us wonder what the food would be like. Service was very hit and miss sometimes we waited for a long time when the bar was not too busy and I would end up going to the bar to order drinks/food myself.
The drinks/food terrace area is not big enough for the number of guests at lunch time. The patio area has weeds growing through the cracks, which is not a good impression and easily remedied. The Sunbeds are old and uncomfortable as they have stretched too much, the Umbrellas dirty, broken and old.
Breakfast however was plentiful and well run. It would have been nice to have some Portuguese dishes rather than just English food.
Room cleaning generally good.
Overall the Hotel is looking very tired and in need of some updating.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The hotel was stylish, relaxed and a few minutes walk into beautiful Tavira. The communal areas, rooftop bar, pool and breakfast were particularly good, drinks and bar food prices were very reasonable. The rooms were maybe not quite so stylish but very comfortable with good size balconies. Staff were v helpful and attentive. We would stay again.

The hotel was in a great location for walking into town. The staff were excellent. Our room provided all we required and was cleaned regularly and bedding and towels changed during our 8 night stay. However the fridge did not keep particularly cold and it would be helpful to have a freezer section for ice. The pool was a very good size but the sunbeds were dated. Overall we felt the hotel could do with updating. Although the breakfast provided many different options our feeling was that some could be better quality. The orange juice was watery (it did not help that nearly half the dispenser was ice so as that melted it became weaker!). We had seen several reviews before our stay mentioning this (especially when there are oranges growing locally!) and staff commented they’d look into this yet obviously nothing has been done. The bread and coffee were also poor. It does not appear you can book a room without breakfast which we would prefer in view of these aspects. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would book again.

We spent one night in Tavira and this hotel was perfect. We were greeted by amazing staff and a complimentary glass of wine. The hotel was a quick walk away from the things we wanted to see in town. The pool area was lovely and the room was perfect for our stay. Breakfast was incredible with a pianist and so much selection at the buffet. The bar/restaurant on the roof had the most amazing views and I would recommend for a sunset drink. Unfortunately the dinner was not great.

Great place. Nice Breakfast and pool, steam bath and sauna. The only issue was a fairly strong sewerage smell coming from the bathroom, which meant we had to run the fan all night and keep the patio door open, which made it a bit noisy. It seems that the staff is aware of the issue, because they mentioned that sometimes it happens when the tide is low, which seemed a bit odd. Otherwise it was a nice place and would have given a very strong review but for this issue.

This was a great accommodation in a large hotel complex that was walking distance to the center. We had a suite with a king bed and large sitting area. Parking was easy onsite with spots in front of the hotel and in a parking garage. The buffet breakfast was very good. We visited in winter and it was very rainy and windy but there were several people there to golf. The rooftop bar was very nice with views of the city. Recommend it.

Fantastic location in the beautiful town of Tavira! This is a very busy hotel with a lively atmosphere and a bustling dining room. The property sees a lot of use, and common areas can feel crowded at peak times. Parking is limited, with a €5 fee for the secure garage. The room was clean but quite noisy. Since it wasn’t a city or river-facing room, it overlooked the neighborhood. While the walls were thick, noise still carried easily, making it possible to hear conversations and movement from nearby rooms and hallways. Tavira itself is a charming destination with its historic architecture, picturesque streets, and stunning coastline, making it worth the visit despite the hotel’s drawbacks.

We loved our 3 night stay in AP Maria Nova Lounge. We had a pool view room which had all the amenities and space you could need and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

The choice and quality of food at breakfast were excellent and the gentleman playing the piano was a lovely addition. Whilst we didn't have an evening meal at the hotel because there was so much choice in town, which was a stone's throw away, we did go up to the bar on occassion which had wonderful views across Tavira and was reasonably priced.

Finally the swimming pools and spa facilities were the icing on the cake!

Yes there are some building works going on in the area but thay didn't stop our enjoyment and we would definitely go back.

Staying in the deluxe room with the jacuzzi on the patio was a must. It’s a short walk to town although the restaurant food quality was a bit disappointing and restaurants were empty due to the season. We didn’t dine at hotel. However we capped off each night with a drink in the hotel’s fabulous rooftop bar. The hotel was almost empty so it was surprising we had to wait for our room( we arrived early) but they kept saying not ready when when we finally came back at the specified check in time there was a lineup and then we had to wait even longer. However the gentleman at check in was helpful when we were trying to get a package delivered.

A truly wonderful hotel, staff super friendly and helpful, breakfast excellent except for the bacon. There was nothing wrong with it but I would prefer lean back bacon not thin streaky bacon. My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon in Portugal and we were so happy with our stay at Maria Nova Lounge. They offered us a complimentary upgrade which was very much appreciated!
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was the shower - there was no way to close the door and water got everywhere. I also didn’t like that there was a 2 in one (body wash, shampoo) for the shower. It would’ve been nice to have two separate.
The food was fine but we especially liked the set menu on the rooftop! Definitely recommend doing that if you have the half board rather than the buffet for dinner.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely be back!

Upon arrival, I was warmly and promptly greeted. When I went to my room, there was a moldy odor. I went back to the front desk to express my concern, and they moved me to another room. Other than that, the day was pleasant and I appreciated the complementary bottle of wine.

The property is quiet with a beautiful view of the town.

The buffet breakfast was delicious and plentiful with a lovely touch of a pianist playing throughout the meal.

This is a great place with a somewhat walkable location. Reaching the downtown area with its restaurants and shops involves a small hill, but we didn’t mind the bit of exercise.

If you're looking for a place to stay without the noise of children, this hotel is an excellent choice. The rooftop bar is spacious, beautifully designed, and offers a stunning view of the city.

Moldy room triggered my wife's allergy

The room we were first assigned had a terrible smell of mold. My wife is allergic and it immediately triggered her allergy so she had a hard time breathing. The bathroom was dark with mold, and the room also looked very worn and in bad shape.

After some discussion, we were offered another room, exactly the same size, but overlooking the pool, for a 20€ upgrade fee. This room did not have a mold issue, and the rest of the stay was ok. Service was friendly, but this is not what we expected...

They do not have iron available in the rooms or even in a laundry room as it's a \"security issue\".

Staff were dismissive and unhelpful.

You have to pay £10 deposit per pool towel.

Breakfast ok. Coffee tasted like mud

Just back from a lovely 4 nights at this hotel! We would definitely recommend it! The selection of food at breakfast is great and the pianist is a lovely touch! The only thing missing was fresh fruit juice or smoothie. The juice machine isn't very nice. We stayed B&B and were so grateful for all of the lovely restaurants nearby the hotel for lunch and evening meals. The hotel is in a good location, close to several restaurants within a few minutes walk. Also not far to walk to the castle and see many of the beautiful churches! Lovely swimming pool with plenty of loungers and the food and drink we had at the pool bar was nice. The room was lovely and clean with a great shower. The pillows are not the most comfortable but we slept well. The construction site next to the hotel didn’t affect our stay but for those who like a nice view from their balcony, a pool view could be requested. There was some noise from the construction site but it wasn't too noisy and didn’t disturb our stay or our sleep. Overall we would recommend this hotel for a stay to explore the lovely Tavira!

Hotel rooms seem tired and worn. Could really use a freshening up. Limited amenities in the bathrooms. Rooms were dirty with many scuff marks on the walls. No coffee machine or coffee in the room. Only instant coffee and kettle. Mini fridge in the closet kept over heating so we had to keep the closet door open. Safety deposit batteries not checked so staff had to repair same in our first day. The staff at check in were rude and stand offish. The welcome drink was nice but we felt very rushed and unwelcome. We went to the roof bar one night and three times we asked for drink and snack menu from staff. No one ever did return to take our order. After 20 mins waiting we left as there was no service from any of the staff who were too busy on their phones. Hardly any other patrons on the roof bar but the staff couldn’t be bothered to serve us? Main plus for this tired hotel was the pool. Well maintained and good service at pool bar. For the money you spend here we expected much better service and quality and it sadly lacked all of it. Parking underground is limited and will cost 5euros per day but worth it if you can get one. Breakfast buffet was lovely but the coffee (espresso) etc is HORRID! Get better coffee please. Upon check out today not even a thank you or hoped you enjoyed your stay from the two men on the desk. Also a note, that as of Sept 2024 there is a major construction project happening right next door to this hotel & there is a lot is dust from same.Overall poor!

This property was excellent but our balcony overlooked a building site which started work on 2 mornings at 8am.
Not a major issue but would not have booked this hotel had I known.Would be happy to return once work complete.

My Husband and I went for our birthday. We fell in love with Tavira. The resort, breakfast and over all service was phenomenal. The staff went above and beyond with cake and gifts when they found out it was a special occasion. Appreciate all the kindness shown.
