The best way to get around with Uber, the breakfast was decent, fresh orange juice was good and the croissants were so soft. Pedro is extremely friendly and kind. The bed was comfortable the pillow was super soft.

We loved the setting, the quiet spots to relax overlooking the lush greenery of the Algarve. The staff were extremely efficient and polite and the food top quality. The animals and turtles were an extra bonus. We enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel -- nice modern and very comfortable rooms, surprisingly good dinners from the restaurant, warm staff, and beautiful countryside surrounding. We didn't get to use the pool, and the area around the sauna was a musty with very limited hours. Not really a gym as others have mentioned, just an outdoor area, but if you know all this, there is much here to enjoy!

Lovely tranquil location, but not difficult to find. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was large, very clean, with a very good en-suite that had an excellent shower. Outdoor heated swimming pool was a bonus and was open for around 12 hours each day. Grounds were well kept, with several nice places to sit and relax in front of some spectacular views. More work is being done to add extra children's play areas. Nice restaurant and bar area. Around a ten minute drive to Tavira, so close enough to other bars and restaurants as/when these might be needed.

On the down side, breakfast was a little limited and lacked variety, especially for someone with dietary constraints, but what was there was always fresh. Bed was a little on the firm side for both of us.

Overall, a very nice, well-run hotel in which to spend a relaxing holiday. 4.5/5

Lovely sunrise views and excellent breakfast choices. Tasty albeit a little expensive Dinner choices, freshly cooked and beautifully served. Very pleasant gardens and pool area, which can be busy with families at times (also used at 7am by one family, disturbing the quiet sunrise effect). Soundproofing from adjacent units not so good. Didn't try the free Yoga or Spa.

Nice room and bathroom, huge comfortable bed, good balcony with wonderful views of hotel gardens and the surrounding countryside, hills and distant views of the sea.
Staff were all lovely, particularly the restaurant staff, with special shout outs for lovely chatty Sophia, Pedro and Thiago. All were very efficient, attentive and professional.
The clue to the location of the hotel is in it's name...Hotel Rural Quinta do Marco - it is quite isolated from any local amenities, villages or restaurants, and a car is definitely a requirement, if a visit to anywhere away from the hotel is desired. Tavira is about 15mins drive away and Olhao about 20 mins.
Foodwise, breakfast was good enough - lovely freshly squeezed orange juice every day, a coffee machine providing nice options, limited cereals, some fresh fruits - sliced melon, kiwi, pineapple, orange, and grapes. No whole fruit to sneak away for later tho..! Ham, cheese, sliced tomato, and limited cooked breakfast options - no grilled tomato, b.beans or potato options. Nice bread and cakes.
Dinner choices were quite limited - soup or a single starter choice, a single fish main, ditto meat, and ditto veggie option. One dessert choice, oh and a childrens menu too. We ate in the restaurant 6 times, and almost every dish was very nice.
All in all, a very enjoyable holiday in a quiet location.

A wonderful family holiday in a uniquely family-friendly hotel. We loved the magnificent cuisine, landscaped grounds and quiet setting while the kids adored the animals (turtles, donkeys, geese and lots more), terrific pool and the company of the other children. Outstanding staff who managed to combine the highest standards of service (in excellent English) with a relaxed and unpretentious style. One of the best hotels in which I've stayed.

The vantage point from high up on the hill, was amazing!! Pool is clean and lovely. Very lush surroundings. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit and veg grown right on the property!! The room was spacious with a large balcony overlooking the valley. Nicely decorated as well.

Two Canadian senior friends booked a Room at Hotel Quinta do Marco and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The ‘family room’ had three beds but gave us more space, which we wanted. It was spotlessly clean, pleasantly decorated and so quiet. We were at the end of the building with lovely views of the hillside with a bit of distance from the pool and the happy families. ( Easter week is obviously a time for family vacations!). The pool itself looked lovely but we chose to explore the grounds, the acres of orange and lemon trees, the active bird life and the peace and quiet of this rural oasis. We appreciated the ‘love corner’ which we laughingly renamed as the yoga corner where we enjoyed our outdoor morning yoga with a view! The dining room is a very pleasant space and staff work very hard to provide good service. Of our two meal
Selections, the pork dinner was average but the Nile perch was excellent. Breakfast the next morning offered a wide array of options ( including eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice and delicious pastries) in a buffet style with attentive staff to help with any needs.
Every staff member we encountered was, as other reviewers have noted, eager to answer questions and make our stay as perfect as possible.
We have been exploring many historic villages and towns during our Portugal holiday, but we were delighted with this rural hospitality! Highly recommend!

This hotel has a perfect location to escape from the city, located above the hills and just 10 minutes by car from Tavira.
Very good breakfast with a great deal of choices and variety of home made/local products.
The staff was fundamental in making my family’s stay just perfect, they are always ready to help and to make you feel like at home.

A beautiful location in the hills above Tavira, with great views and comfortable rooms. Lovely pool and great service. Breakfast excellent and generous, but we didn’t eat dinner here so cannot comment on it. Definitely family friendly as it is a working farm with animals to feed by the children. Tavira is a 20 minute drive, with plenty of restaurants. Go to Santa Luzia for famous octopus restaurants but book a table if you want to eat at Casa Polvo

It's a little gem of quietness and relax just about 20 min driving away from the beaches and from downtown Tavira! The apartment was nicely decorated, clean and well equipped. The bathroom was large and comfortable; morning breakfast(buffet, self serve style was rich of all kind of hot and cold meals, fresh fruits and complimentary hot beverages and tasteful orange juice (the property counts approx 11 thousands of orange trees...); what is unique of this place is the peace and silence at night... We also enjoyed the restaurant for dinner, once; the service level was, maybe, not top-class but acceptable and yet the quality of food and price/quality balance was excellent.

We would highly recommend this hotel! The location was very relaxing and it had a great homey feel. Joanna was very knowledgeable and helped us book a driver to lagos and sagres. Also, the owner was friendly and shared some good conversation with us at dinner. Speaking of dinner, the food at this hotel restaurant was delicious! Great quality at an unbeatable price. If you want a relaxing escape, would definitely recommend it. You wont be sorry!

Nice grounds, pleasant staff, pool nice. Room we stayed in was tired. Bathroom needed grout cleaning, wouldn’t expect mould on grout in a hotel of this calibre. Wifi poor- it is a slightly rural location but the signal was poor in the rooms (non existent) and fine at the pool side so this shows there is an ability to improve WiFi. No coffee or tea in the rooms but a kettle and 2 cups and 2 glasses- we were staying as a family of 4 so would need more than 2 but no coffee or tea provided anyway. Poolside food nice and staff nice. Breakfast lovely and fresh and plenty of choice. Hotel nicr but not worth over €200 a night sadly.

The rural location was stunning. Views over the hills, lots of birds and very peaceful. We were a little sad for the animals which were kept in the back of the hotel. Their enclosure was run down and dirty and the donkey looked particularly unhappy.

The staff were really friendly and helpful - we stayed for 10 days and felt by the end that we were friends with Goncalo, Paulo and Tiara. We stayed in mid June when the hotel was quieter and it was a really pleasant, calm environment to be in with our baby. The other guests were really friendly and obviously having an equally pleasant stay. The pool area is great and the children's pool a nice facility (although a bit too cold for our child until late in the day). The breakfast was high quality and generous serving hours to 10:30am. We had a downstairs room with a double bed and two sinlges and everything was great - water pressure in the shower, air con, comfortable bed and bedding.

A rural hotel with perfect views and lovely gardens. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and decorated very nicely. Lovely large bathroom with a powerful shower. The balcony over-looked the pool (all the rooms do) with gorgeous sunrises and sunsets and plenty of stars to see at night. The hotel is part of a working farm so you do get cockerel calls in the morning and a few howling dogs in the evening, but this is part of the charm. The gardens are beautiful and the pathways well maintained for exploring with benches and seats scattered around.

The hotel has a small bar and includes a games table with cards and dominos. The main room is divided into a small seating area around a log burner, and the main dining room. This is where breakfast was served. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet with a good selection of foods to suit everyone's taste. There was a problem with flies, being out in the countryside, but I think the servers realised this and some things were covered with cloths.The fresh fruit and jams do need protection from flies though. We only ate in the restaurant for evening meal once, it wasn't for us, but everyone has different tastes. The menu on that night was mainly fish (which I don't eat) so limited choices and the price was quite high. But I think you have to try it for yourself. I personally think the rooms are big enough to provide self-catering studios which would be ideal.

Where to start? The staff were all friendly and helpful and very genuine. The room was expansive, comfortable with a nice deck and good view (we were on the top (2nd) floor). The groundskeeper works continuously and everything is pleasing. The design of the expansive grounds with the pool is well thought through. Breakfast was varied and pleasant. The dinner restaurant is incredible and the Fado night was really heartwarming. Thanks for acknowledging my wife's birthday with a song and a bottle of bubbly. There are so many great memories of our time in Hotel Rural Quinta do Marco both from a people and place perspective. We hope to return!

Look to the hills above Tavira

We extended our usual two week Algarve beach holiday by flying out mid week ( better flight options) and staying two nights at Quinta do Marco. What a perfect way to start our holidays, great location ( so different ), and great welcome / service. Didn’t see a need to move off site other than my early morning runs around the lanes and tracks .

Away from the crowds

We just loved this hotel,
it's located in a very quiet and beautiful place overlooking the hills of the Algarve, the silence at night it's magical. You can sit in your balcony to enjoy the sunset and a have drink, or dive into the pool for swim just before dinner. The Hotel restaurant is quite good, but it is bit overpriced, the sangria they serve is outstanding, the wine choice is also very good.
In the morning you can have breakfast outside and enjoy a beautiful view of the hills and the ocean, the breakfast served is quite nice.
I think this hotel is great for relaxing a it is a great way to enjoy complete different perspective of the Algarve, a more rural experience away from the crowds. If you want you can drive 15min and enjoy the the several beaches in the Tavira area, which is more quiet than the West of the Algarve.
This hotel is also a farm with animals: peacocks, donkeys, chickens, tortoises and cats !!! We loved the little kitten !!!
I strongly recommend this hotel if you want to get away from the noise and the crowds in the Algarve.

This hotel exceeded our expectations during our one week stay. Even before we arrived communication was excellent with regard to booking a taxi to collect us from the airport. During our stay the service was faultless with staff friendly and keen to help. I would recommend hiring a car as, though the location is only about 15 minutes drive from Tavira, local transport links are minimal. We arranged car hire through a local company recommended by the hotel for a very reasonable rate. There are many places of interest and beautiful beaches to visit in the immediate area. The room, with large terrace, was immaculate and the gardens, which include a small farm, were delightful. The pool was never too busy with light lunches and drinks available from the bar. We had dinner in the restaurant several times, menu was varied with some vegetarian choices too. The hotel use their own produce as much as possible which adds to the quality of breakfast and meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our very relaxing stay and would love to make a return visit.

Everything was perfect!!

One of the best hotels we have stayed in and if you like nature you are guaranteed to fall in love with this hotel. The views from all around the hotel are breathtaking, room was comfortable, all staff were amazing, tasty breakfast with self grown produce and the hotel has its own farm with animals which was great fun for our daughter. From time to time they also run activities for kids like donkey riding, animal feeding which children love. Would strongly recommend for a relaxing break.

Très bel hôtel eco responsable sur les hauteurs de Tavira, à l’abri de l’agitation au cœur des oliviers, grande piscine. Petite ferme et bassin de tortue, ludique pour les enfants. Belvédère et cadre magnifique.

Service agréable et souriant mais un peu sous staffé pour un mois d’août : attente au restaurant, personne au bar de la piscine, ménage en chambre superficiel, à la demande. Petit déjeuner copieux mais pas de mise en avant de produits locaux malheureusement.

L’espace piscine est agréable mais les règles ne sont pas vraiment respectées par certains vacanciers (en haute saison du moins). En août bouées, bruits , réservation de transats peuvent facilement s’inviter.
