The only flaw is that we stayed here only for a night. Seriously, this hotel is amazing in every aspect: be sure to take a bath in the pool and enjoy the sunset from there in the evening.
Good choice for breakfast, could be more varied, but can't complain as it was excellent taste wise.
The staff is very helpful and highly competent.

The hotel was a big disappointment. A horrible bare walls small room, with outdated everything. I felt like I was in a prison cell. Everything in that room was horrible: furniture, bathroom, bed, linen. It was the worst money spent. I really wanted my money back - this is how horrible this hotel was. I slept terribly. I must say that the personnel in this s..t hole was lovely. But the hotel itself is barely 2 stars. P

Everything about the property was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was first class with bacon eggs etc made to order and an excellent selection of fruit cereals etc. We also had dinner on two evenings and it was very good, a reasonable choice and varied menu. The bedroom overlooked the pool and garden. The bedroom was a little dated but the bed was very comfortable. We would certainly recommend this hotel to couples and families, but would definitely need a hire car if you were staying any length of time as the property is situated in a rural area.

Good country hotel in Algarve

Second visit to meet up with friends from Canada to this family-run hotel where staff put service first. The breakfasts were excellent, on request eggs etc will be cooked any style to order. Lunch and/or dinner available a la carte from a menu that changes slow are also very good. The outside pool is sparkling clean but unheated and rather cold in February. Rooms are clean and serviced daily but there is no passenger lift to those on first floor. Free wifi throughout and a small gym. Ample parking and attractive grounds including a 2-hole golf course!

Great Winter Break

5 days of sunshine in February in a country hotel with a room as clean and comfortable as I could wish for, comfortable bed, nice duvet. The dining room served great food - beautifully prepared fresh fruit, bread and cakes in the breakfast buffet alongside all the usual stuff, and small but interesting selection of dishes for lunch and dinner, all very well presented. The gym is small, there is an outside pool which would be popular in summer. All of the staff were very helpful.

Remote........But worth it!

This hotel is set in beautiful, cared for grounds in the middle of the Portuguese countryside. If you don't like walking then a car is a must. We opted to walk and taxi to get around and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The bedrooms are huge and absolutely spotless although they are tired and could benefit from a make over, especially the bathroom. (not a lover of shower curtains) just a general modernisation would make all the difference. In fact if they where on par with the brand new apartment's that would be brilliant.
The food was fabulous, breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. The restaurant quality food of an evening was very reasonable, although after a week it became a bit samey.
The family who own and run the hotel and restaurant couldn't of made our stay any better they are extremely friendly and accommodating to your every need.
We will definitely return and may even try the new apartments next time. Plus we would hire a car to get out a bit more but for a week just chilling it is perfect.

Absolutely wonderful \"rural\" hotel. If you have a car, no problem. Center of town is about 3-1/2 miles and can be walked carefully using the narrow country roads. Hotel offers a very good restaurant, available for bkfst, lunch and dinner. Excellent food and well presented. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained...great for relaxing walks. Owners and staff very accommodating and helpful!

This Hotel is a family run business with a focus on hospitality and friendliness.
The room was adequate for what we wanted but was old fashioned with a small balcony.
Everything else about this hotel was exceptional, the pool area, the breakfast, the cuisine all 5 star.
Then you walk out of the pool area into the very well kept gardens and the ponds. Within the ponds you find an array of friendly turtles, if you remember to take a few slices of bread from the breakfast table these turtles will be your friend for life. At around 7 pm every night while you sit outside near the pool area you will be entertained by the frog choir. it was truly amazing to listen the sounds from these amphibians. All in all i will be visiting this hotel again as we really enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks to all the staff

By and large this is a good place to stay with really great service from superb staff, no question about that. However, if you are a light sleeper then be aware that room walls are paper thin and the place is also surrounded by incessant dog barking/ yapping/ howling. Tolerable to some but not for me sadly! Pays yer money, yer takes yer choice...

Small friendly hotel

We only stayed for one night but would consider returning for longer. Although we arrived at 11am we were welcomed by the friendly staff and given our room early. Our room was not large but very clean and modern.
We headed for the pool which was very quiet and had views over the hotels attractive grounds. The pool was a bit cold for our liking but maybe that was because of the time of year. There were plenty of sun loungers and chairs.
In the evening we strolled the short distance across the gardens to the hotel restaurant where we found the staff relaxed and friendly. The food was very good and well priced.

Quiet and generally friendly

The hotel is situated away from Faro in a very rural setting. This has pros and cons. It was quiet, except the barking dogs in the night, but also relaxed which was what we were looking for. The facilities were more than expected although not advertised in the room hotel information book for instance. The grounds were very well presented and therefore there was no real need to leave the hotel. The restaurant turned out to be disappointing. The set menu was great for getting to know the quisine but the meal was costed down and the service level deminished. Havig said all that I would agsin especially out of season.

My daughter and i stayed here for 2 very peaceful nights. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff was pleasant. The hotel has a beautiful pool...birds sing all day long and frogs chirp at night. The restaurant has very tasty food, and their included breakfast was wonderful.

We absolutely loved our stay in Quinta Dos Poetas and will definitely return when we get the chance, the hotel is an oasis in the hills of Pechao, the hotel staff are friendly and welcoming and have no qualms in going the extra mile to make sure your stay is enjoyable, the rooms are spotlessly clean and modern, the pool was very much appreciated by both of us and it was lovely in the evening to take the short walk to the restaurant, very romantic! The restaurant was very nice and the food and service was second to none!

Quiet few days break in Autumn

This was a very pleasant and relaxed few days in this friendly small hotel. We chose a bad time for the weather unfortunately as it rained every day, but the hotel was very welcoming and informal. It is only a short drive from Faro, and there are plenty of hotel signs to point the way through the country roads. Excellent breakfast and restaurant for the evening.

We weren't expecting the hotel to be so secluded. You can't do much at all unless you have a car. The pool was nice and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant was average and drinks very expensive. The buffet breakfast was very good though!
Overall a nice place if you can drive.

Relaxing haven

Just returned from a wonderful relaxing week's break at Quinta dos Poetas, and cannot rate it highly enough. Lovely and clean, friendly and helpful staff and great food, all in a beautiful setting. Only a small hotel so we quite often had the pool to ourselves - absolute heaven! Not far from Faro airport, but aircraft noise hardly noticeable, and easy to find as well signposted now (had read previous reviews which said it was difficult to find, but I think this has now been resolved). We shall definitely be returning :-) .

If you are looking for a very quiet location with country views, then this is the place. The expansive grounds and pool area are very well maintained. The staff are excellent and certainly make you feel welcome and they are also very helpful. There are only about 20 rooms. Nice touch is providing two bathrobes. There are very small balconies pool side, but no chairs on them. A pool view room is the best option. Air conditioning in the room worked well and was reasonably quiet. Lots of hot water, though the towels are on the small side. No coffee or tea facilities in the room. Small mini bar, huge closets. Breakfast included plenty of fresh fruit, ham, cheese and lots of different kinds of bread and rolls. Eggs and bacon were cooked freshly for us. The restaurant, which is a short walk across the gardens of the hotel (closed on Mondays) is very reasonably priced and the food is excellent.

WIFI wasn't good in our room, but as we had our own computer Reception provided a LAN cable which gave us excellent connectivity. Apparently if you have a room near to Reception then WIFI works well there, and it also works pool side.

The hotel could be quite difficult to find at night. There are signs for Quinta dos Poetas, but suggest you write to the hotel and ask for directions or use Google maps (we were driving from the western Algarve) and found the hotel fairly easily during the daytime using Google.

One of the most relaxing short breaks we have had - we will return.

We arrived at Hotel Rural Quinta dos Poetas on NYE 2012 and stayed for two nights. It was challenging to find the hotel even with Google maps/GPS, Recommend asking for detailed directions. Also, you must have a car as there is nothing within walking distance.

We stayed for 2 nights here over New Years. The hotel has a restaraunt that served a delicious 5 course New Years Eve dinner. We were traveling with our 15 month old and the staff was very welcoming (and tolerant) of his behavior. The chef even came out to socialize with us. Overall it was a memorable experience for our family.

The hotel and the grounds are quite inviting. In a rural setting, the hotel grounds are quite expansive, with lots of walking areas, pool, play area for the kids, a putting green and even 2 holes of golf. In the lobby area there is a comfortable sitting area with a fireplace and nearby a large dining room for breakfast.

The room itself is modest but clean and comfortable. Wi-fi was not available in the room, only in the lobby area.

Hotel Rural Quinta dos Poetas is a lovely retreat. It has the feel of a resort in the middle desert of Arizona, though on a much smaller scale, and with dated decor. The secluded location and off-season made for extreme quiet, which I appreciated after spending the previous week in city hotels (Seville, Lisbon). The location does limit options for activities, and I wonder how much of a challenge finding it would have been without a GPS. The restaurant on site is the only game in town if you're too tired to drive into Olhao or Faro. Good food and service, though higher priced, as I'd expect from a restaurant at a hotel.

Excellent hotel with wonderful owner and staff. As this hotel is in a ruarl area a few kms from Olhao a car is a essential. Lovely pool and nice large gardens with a small golf facility. Everything is spotless and clean and it is quiet and very relaxing.
Breakfast is freshly cooked and there is the usual cold buffet items as well. Highly recommended.

Fantastic locationn for a quiet retreat, Pool area spotless and we just about had the pool to oursevles. Restuarant serves lovely food . We stayed 2 nights and eat there both nights. Would recommend it highly and very reasonable. My only recommendation is the plastice chairs and yellow plastic covers for such a lovely hotel the sun luungers let the hotel down.

This is a totally different Algarve hotel. If has a rural setting in beautiful countryside. The staff were very helpful and considerate. Pool area and small golf course were immaculately maintained and the restaurant was fantastic. We ate there 3 of the 4 nights we stayed and the only reason we did not eat on the other night was because it was closed!
Not suitable for children but delightful hotel for couples. You do need a car but that was not a problem for us. We will definately be back!

not everyones cup of tea this place if you want sandsea bars clubs and fast food stay away please because we want it to ourselves
heaven on earth compared to the resorts so quiet and peaceful just lie back and wonder how all those crickets manage to stop rubbing there legs together at exactly the same time wierd that the location the views the completely relaxed atmosphere without the manyana attitude ask for something and its there the lovely clean crisp rooms with superb bathrooms and acres of wardrobe space the most amazing and very reasonably priced food and that georgeous cool not cold crystal blue pool there for you just when you need it we stayed for four nights out of east mids on easy jet at the end of july great flight times twenty euros from the air port and within three hours we were sitting by the pool with a bottle of wine we cannot wait to go back and will be in september total relaxtion in an incredible location so please stay away its ours

Hier hat einfach alles gestimmt! Das Apartment war ein wenig von Haupthaus entfernt und dadurch sehr ruhig gelegen. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber und mit allem Nötigen ausgestattet. Wir haben uns vom ersten Moment an wie Zuhause gefühlt.

Le temps est comme suspendu dans cet hôtel. Le cadre est magnifique, calme. C'est un hôtel à taille humaine et on s'y sent bien. La cuisine est excellente ! Absolument à découvrir en Algarve.!

Endroit exceptionnel, hôtel très agréable, en pleine nature, sur une propriété très agréable (parc verdoyant et arboré, étang, une vraie piscine sur une terrasse qui invite au farniente).

Das gut ausgestattete Appartement mit eigener Terrasse liegt in einer schönen landschaftlichen Anlage mit eigenen Parkplätzen. Alles ist grosszügig und sehr sauber. Die sehr ruhige Anlage selbst liegt etwas abgelegen, ist mit einem Mietwagen aber sehr gut zu erreichen. Ein guter Ausgangspunkt, um die Algarve mit dem Auto zu bereisen. Wlan und Klimaanlage arbeiten bestens, Fernsehen beinhaltet auch deutsche Programme. Die Zimmerreinigung verdient grosses Lob.
