Perfect in every way! This is what 5 starts looks like! My husband and I were traveling for our wedding anniversary, and our Secret Suite was perfect--the private pool, the patio, the concierge, the breakfasts...it was all heaven. The hospitality is warm and down-to-earth. The food at the restaurant is amazing--including amazing vegetarian dishes. The resort includes different activities like yoga, cocktail-making classes, and wine tasting. For an unforgettable experience in the Algarve, don't hesitate--book this now!

The Octant Vila Monte is a beautiful hotel set into the countryside about 4-5 miles from the beach. As soon as we arrived we felt relaxed and peaceful as the hotel, its grounds and our room were presented beautifully. The staff in all areas were so kind, friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The breakfast was outstanding with fresh produce and a stunning view and the hotel restaurant served amazing food each day. The adults only po was t heated but with the sunshine that wasn’t a problem. I borrowed a bike to cycle into the local towns which was a great addition. All in al, highly recommend - we’ll be back as soon as we can!

Amazing & special place to stay! We really enjoyed our visit to this hotel and we were made to feel special from the moment we arrived. The staff here are phenonemal and will make you feel so looked after.

The grounds are beautiful and in a rural setting, its a drive away from visiting the towns and attractoons but if you want to repax, then this is perfect The restaurant was really good, with options to suit any budget. The fresh cookies & cocktail invites were such a lovely touch!

The hotel is relatively small with rooms being separated into three different buildings. This means that each block has its own individual ‘cosy’ atmosphere. The buildings are located in beautifully landscaped areas.
We were made very welcome on arrival and throughly enjoyed our stay.

5 stars all around!

My husband and I stayed at Vila Monte on our honeymoon and had the absolute best time!! They made our stay so special. The staff were amazing.

We loved both the restaurants! I have multiple food allergies and they totally catered to everything. Everything we had was delicious and they had a fabulous local & international wine selection.

We could not get over how stunning the grounds were! There was so much thought put into the landscape design, the gardens, and the rooms.

It is such a special place and we plan to return!

Overall, our stay was fantastic! The property is beautiful and incredibly well manicured. We were only passing through for one day but were able to take advantage of the pool, gym, grounds and lovely restaurant! The food is incredible. The property is inland a bit, so would only recommend a few days to avoid cabin fever. :)

We loved Vila Monte, the lovely grounds, excellent staff, very relaxed atmosphere. It was a green oasis amid a very arid surrounding landscape. We did not spend much time using the hotel's facilities, but a car was necessary to visit the local towns and coast. We were disappointed with our room(Room 6) although it was only a standard double room, we would have expected a chair in the room as when we were in the room we could only sit/lie on the bed. It was also situated a little out of the way, next to the cleaners room,under trees and with no sunlight or view. (Not one of the better rooms) We ate in the A Terra restaurant twice and felt it was not good value for money - expensive. Again staff very friendly. Breakfast was very good, and staff extremely friendly and helpful. We ate in Moncarapacho, about 5 minutes drive, at Antonio's and Restaurant Da Ana, both very good and very reasonable prices. All in all a lovely hotel, but not keen on the room.

This place is just wonderful, the staff, the hotel, the grounds are all excellent. The rooms are fresh and modern with high end accessories, hats and bags for your use during your stay and an umbrella!

The overall site is extremely well kept and clean.
The food is also very good, try the homemade bread.

Fantastic place to totally relax.

Had a five day stay. It was just great. We didn't hire a car and on a cloudy day when asking if there was anywhere we could walk to they ran us to the harbor and picked us up later, totally unexpected. The food was excellent and the service out standing. Lots of nice extra touches. Pretty isolated would recommend a car.

Vila Monte was absolutely beautiful! Every detail has been immaculately designed.
Staff were super friendly and couldn't help enough.
Facilities were amazing: 2 beautiful pools, (one with pool bar), room was fantastic with added details like sun hats to use during your stay. Activities available all complementary; tennis courts, bicycles, gym, outdoor cinema. Trip to Barra Nova beach is a must.
Couldn't recommend more for a relaxing stay in Algarve :)

Lovely secluded hotel, but not too far from Faro

Look at the website, it's even nicer than it looks. Rooms are spacious, everything is clean, food is excellent, 2 good pools (shallow though), lovely areas to sit and relax round the pools, service is top notch and the gardens are very pretty.
There is a private minibus/boat to their secluded beach. Easy access from Faro airport and also into Faro and the Rio Formula area.
We will definitely be going back!

An excellent hotel with fantastic staff away from the tourist hotspots. Worth a trip to the beach in Fuseta (complimentary shuttle bus), allow time to wander around the fishing village. Should also go to city of Olhao for fantastic markets. Will definitely be going back.

Praia Verde - a lovely boutique hotel

Please note that this review refers to the Praia Verde Boutique Hotel, Castro Marim,
NOT the Vila Monte, which was being refurbished. Our stay was excellent in all respects, particularly the second-floor room with large balcony, and sea view over the pine trees. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Tranquil getaway and committed staff!

Destination for those looking for a relaxing getaway with great food, friendly and committed staff. Not a haven for 'Brits abroad' (which you get down the west end of the Algarve). Being British that's a plus and it's refreshing to hear several different continental accents. Well kept pitch and putt in a beautiful setting. The head waiter at the Orangerie is excellent and knows his wines and ports!

Staff were excellent, the hotel grounds were quiet and lovely to stroll around. The pools were quiet with plenty of sunbeds. The rooms need upgrading which is currently planned in the near future. The main downside for us was the location as you needed a car even to go out for a drink or meal, this is the only reason why we would not return to the hotel in the future.

Everything is possible at Vila Monte

The hotel and staff are extremely accommodating and really tried very hard to ensure we had a good holiday. The hotel is not at present geared towards young children but they created a kids club for our trip and overall the children had a good time. The hotel advised they may offer a children's club in the summer. The hotel organised a yoga teacher for me and she was also very good. Food is amazing - especially the fish baked in salt. It is worth enquiring about upgrading to a suite as they offered a very good rate to do so.

Staff were friendly, courteous and professional and went the \"extra mile\" when we required a special diet for our son.
The restaurant and food and was excellent. The resort itself had a \"shabby chic\" feel to it , not pristine but also not unpleasant.
The website mentioned a shuttle bus but not available when we were there and that was a dissapointment. Also the free wi fi is only in the pool and main reception areas. Not a disaster and on
the whole an enjoyable stay and a resort I would recommend

Great resort for relaxing - ideal for couples.

Turning off the road and into the Vila Monte entrance the view and lushness was amazing. The road up to the reception has a practice golf course either side and gives a great first impression. The resort is spacious but with a small number of superior rooms in 'villas' or suites spaced well apart so often felt like our own personal villa. The normal sized rooms are in 2 storey villas but again not crowded. We had a 'superior' room in a single floor villa (5 rooms total) and a good pool directly outside. There are 3 pools in the resort available to everyone. We went in the 'low' season but even when busy I doubt it would seem crowded. You really do need a car as the restaurant is both expensive €130 for 2 with wine) and limited menu choices - but it is absolutely excellent Michelin star quality so we ate there twice and drove to Montcarapacho, Fuseta or Olhou on other days.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful - another couple decided to stay an extra 3 days and Carla (Manageress) took care of the flights, car hire and room changes for them.

Website gives fairly accurate picture. Goodto have several buildings spaced around the grounds. Peaceful and elaxing ambience. Restaurant and terrace were excellent but hotelk suffered from lack of an obvious bar area and the pool side bar was not functioning throughout our stay even though we were told it would be operational from 1 June.

Relaxation personified!!

Only had a 3 day trip - but just what we needed - REALLY relaxed place, lovely large room and the staff could not have been more helpful. Getting into the village was arranged for us - but not much once in there - only 2 restaurants. Hotel is a great place to unwind - close enought to airport - but down long drive so felt like you were in midst of nowhere! Evening food was only the 5 star restaurant - so they ended up opening the poolside restaurant for us one night.

Transfer from airport was expensive - arranged by hotel - but was prompt and in nice cars.

I have already recommended it to a friend for a short break away from it all!

This resort is beautiful. We were upgraded from a standard to a superior room with terrace and sitting room, sliding patio doors and king size bed. Breakfast was wonderful. Relaxing pool area and wireless internet in common areas. Quiet retreat on a manicured golf course with spa facility on site. Note that the enterance to the hotel is between the highway and the town. Location is close to fishing villages in the Algarve.

villa monte rural heaven

We had 4 day stay at Villa Monte following a trip to Albefura with friends. It was a peaceful haven and how i imagine the Algarve was before the high rise resorts took over the western Algarve.
Turning in from the road it was like entering another world, all green and landscaped beautifully.
We had a very comfortable room and the staff were very helpful and attentive, booking boat trips for us and answering questions about the locality.
We did not have dinner at the hotel(it was quite pricey) and found a tiny restaurant in Montecarpacho which looked like a cafe from the outside but had a lovely room at the back where food was very good and reasonably priced. It was good to be with local people who were so friendly. Tavira is a lovely old town and the beaches and islands were easily accessible.
I visited the spa and had THE BEST massage and Turkish bath do try it.
Only slight downside (other than very expensive dinners) was the music at the pool bar which we found too loud, it would have been good to have had peace there as i think that is what most visitors would like.
Would definately recommend a visit to this hotel

Vila Monte Resort - relaxing gourmet get away

Exceeded our expectations - friendly and welcoming service, complimentary champagne reception at the pool bar, spacious & comfortable air-conditioned villa-style accomodation. 4 different pools throughout the resort with plenty of shade & seating. Romantic dining by candlelight in the Orangerie terrace, with superb locally produced food, overlooking the countryside with views of mountains & sea. Fantastic place to get away from it all, especially for couples, about 30 mins drive from Faro airport. Worth every cent - would love to visit again!

A beautiful hotel with beautiful grounds. The staff were very helpful and attentive although the Maid Service was erratic. I had to ask for pool towels as they weren't replaced for two days and on one day the room still had not been cleaned at 4pm. However when I brought the matter to the attention of the Reception staff it was rectified immediately. I thought the pool bar food rather expensive and did not eat at the Hotel's Gourmet Restaurant as I thought the prices were excessive. We were never sure when the Pool bar would be closing as on some occasions it was open until late and on other occasions closed at 7pm.

Great Wedding Anniversary

Extremely pleased with our stay. It does look as good as the pictures in demo. In fact we agreed that it would be our dream property to own to live there as a family (now we have to win a lottery :). Grounds and decor are fab. We were also lucky to be upgraded to a suit so our three y/o daughter slept on her own. What pleased me the most was that there were quite a lot of people but they were dispersed around three secluded swimming pools or around the huge park so it felt absolutely peaceful (and yes, there were children but somehow you did not hear them :). Staff is the most friendly and helpful. Food in Orangerie restaurant is really worth it.

Stor, flot have. Rummeligt værelse med stor terrasse. Velholdt tennisbane. Dejligt med opvarmet pool. Hyggeligt ned to kælne katte på stedet.
Der var ikke særlig rent i fitnessrummet. Pizzaerne i restauranten var lidt kedelige. Vi havde problemer med både TV og aircondition, men begge dele blev fixet, da vi henvendte os.
