Hotel City of Olhão is a 3 star hotel located in Olhão, Algarve, just 15 minutes drive from Faro International Airport. Its location takes you to the heart of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, its fauna and flora, to the incredible shoals and golden beaches.

Situated in the city center, the hotel is very close to various points of interest. To get to the bus station takes less than a minute walk to the train station and 2 minutes to the historical center and docks just 10 minutes.

Olhão is currently considered the gastronomic jewel of the Algarve and very close are some of the most incredible and least crowded beaches of southern Portugal. Recently opened, specifically in August 2016, the Hotel Cidade de Olhão offers a high quality accommodation at affordable rates with two different types, studios and twin or double rooms as well as a pool and outdoor lounge, supported by a small bar and changing rooms .

We had a lovely stay in Olhao. The hotel breakfast was a good way to start the day, and a dip in the clear cool water in the pool helped us to recover at the end of the day. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
The only issue we had was the absence of sockets in the kitchenette. There was a kettle and a toaster, but nowhere to plug them in.

Fantastic facilities, ample wardrobe and hanging space with safe in room, tea/coffee making facilities but not products supplied, small fridge in room, large comfy bed with crisp white sheets, TV, nice bathroom with nice soaps and large walk in shower. Outside there was a really lovely pool with sunbeds round and another seating area up a few stairs overlooking the pool free poolside towels supplied and I think the hotel also provided seaside parasol to be used off site, although we didn't use them. The breakfast as as as expected with all that's needed.

We didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel as we felt that local cafes had more atmosphere. We really enjoyed Olhao and would choose the Cidade again.

What an amazing property! I. Cannot put into words how wonderful our stay was. Starting with the front desk, to mention a name, Marta was great to us, she provided it all the information that we requested regarding restaurants, activities and transportation around the area. But in general ALL the staff is great, always willing to help (we even borrowed an umbrella from one of the nice ladies). If you do not have a car the train station and bus stations are just around de corner.. in the morning you woke up with the smell of fresh baked bread and the breakfast is really good with some tasty little pastais de nata. We will stay there again without hesitation! We are looking forward for our next stay!

Very nice hotel with helpful staff. Everywhere was cleaned regularly. Sun loungers always available. Studio was spacious. Handy for the bus and train station. 15 minutes walk from the seafront with loads of restaurants fairly close by.
The only negative is outwith the hotels control. As it's in a residential area it can be noisy, with dogs barking and building work going on

The location was easy to access the harbour and the restaurants along the harbour. The ferry is close and easy to access all the islands. My stay was so relaxing, the Pool was the highlight of the hotel such beautiful setting. The breakfast was lovely fruit served was fresh and juicy. The staff were always so polite and helpful. Recommend their sister hotel for the rooftop bar and many of things to discover in olhao. Thank you for a wonderful and peaceful stay!

Very near the train station so great to get to other local towns very cheaply.
Disadvantage no restaurant available so you need to always eat out.

Absolutely Fabulous

I wanted a week away alone and chose this hotel as it was not large and impersonal.
The hotel is in a superb position right in the town itself. The public transport is excellent with the train station just five minutes away as is the bus station. The staff in this hotel are so helpfull and friendly and will do anything to make you stay memorable. Breakfast buffet is good with a large choice of items.
There is also a pool on site not massive but so convenient if you want to stay in.
Olhao is now a must for me I will be coming back again. When out and about it's very safe and all the Portuguese people I met were so kind and helpful. The hotel and place get a gold star from me.
Dont forget to go on the ferry to visit the islands nearby as there is no beach in the town.

The hotel is very convenient for guests using the train or a bus, as it is very close to both stations. It is a bit of a walk into the waterfront area, but should be manageable for most people. I stayed in a studio that was more like a one-bedroom apartment. It had a well-equipped kitchenette that opened into a nice living space (with a large sofa), plus a good shower room. The bedroom was a bit compact given the (large) size of the bed, but it was not a problem. The studio had several windows facing the pool area. Staff members were very nice and helpful.

The hotel staff welcomed me warmly into this modern hotel.Everything was clean, fresh and tasteful. Although in the city, it felt like a holiday resort with an inviting pool set in a lovely outdoor area comfortably furnished. Location was perfect for both bus and train. -Close proximity to the sea, fantastic restaurants located everywhere
-Housekeeping very prompt and did an amazing job
-Pool an amazing addition, clean.
-Very affordable, can't get a hotel in Leeds cheaper!

Cons (not many to list):

-Air con just would never turn off, not even when pressing the off button
-No toothpaste or deoderant provided in rooms, easily sorted though.
-Looked like someone had a tantrum in my room, a dent in the wall and black marks on it too.
-What I can only describe as mould in the shower, however couldn't be smelt, probably caused by condensation


I would stay here again, due to the price, location and friendliness of the staff!

Fabulous staff - friendly, helpful and knowledable. No problem being gluten free when it came to breakfast. Room was very clean and functional (enough hangers in the closet, power sockets to charge things, well equipped kitchen). I was bit alerted when I arrived by taxi as it didn't look particularly nice area, but actually it's perfectly situated. Few minutes away from the old town and seaside and right next to 'main street'.

What a lovely place to stay!

Our stay was excellent! The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the staff are beyond helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and bright with plenty of room for the two of us. The lobby and pool area are tidy with loads of room to kick back and relax.

Friendly staff, however disappointing clean.

The hotel is nice, there isn't a restaurant area but self-service breakfast offered for a fee. The pool is lovely and the staff are friendly, with a genuine positive disposition they were attentive and helpful. However I noticed that during my 3 night stay my bedding was only changed once. The top sheet was replaced but it was clearly both else was, I could see a little spillage I made from the night before still on the sheet. That was quite disappointing, as the room was very clean when I checked in.

A modern and sleek hotel close to the railway station and in the quiet part of Olhao. It's an easy walk into town to catch the boats to the islands with white sandy beaches. But it is tempting to stay by the pool too. Charming young multilingual staff and big comfortable beds. Breakfast is good too. Much recommended.

First time staying at this hotel, we had booked a one bed apartment for 5 nights, very happy with it, very clean, very comfy bed and excellent air con. Soundproofed so didn't hear any noise inside or out We ate breakfast in our room, small supermarket nearby to stock up. Pool area nice, we were told one day the pool would be closed for a few hours as it was getting cleaned due to suntan lotion! Towels provided for sunbeds. Very loud woman next to us on the beds one day shouting to her mother on other side of the pool when everyone else was quiet. About a 5 min or so walk to train station, 10-15 min walk to front.

We had a one night stopover in Olhao before we could start a week's holiday in rented accommodation.
The Hotel was spotlessly clean. Bed was comfortable,room small but had all we needed for a short stay. The receptionist on duty the night we arrived was more than helpful. We would stay here again.
