The property is very beautiful, however we had a lot of issues with the stove in our suite. It wasn’t working properly, and two people had to come in at different times to help us fix it, which took about 1-2 hours. Then when it was “fixed”, it still didn’t work properly, and would randomly shut off and we had to keep flipping the breakers on and off for the suite. This made our cooking experience very frustrating. There was also loud construction that started in the suite next to us around 9:00 in the morning. However the staff were very friendly and nice, and the surrounding area is beautiful.

We have been passing the property for many years on our way to the lovely Barril beach nearby and it was convenient to stay one night this year. Staff were friendly, the price was right and we were not disappointed. Dinner was excellent and also well-priced in a cosy part of the bigger restaurant. The small supermarket on-site had good fresh food and the room well-equipped with kitchenette and bathroom. We would stay again !

The downside - I had the cheapest accommodation; a studio. It was a bit tatty, the beds were incredibly hard and uncomfortable, and there was an ant problem that meant any opened food (even cereal) had to be stored in the fridge. It was very dark, with a north facing patio looking onto a weedy courtyard, and the patio doors couldn’t be opened properly as they jammed on the floor. Hot water in the shower came and went and a wall light stopped working while I was there.
The upside - the grounds are lovely. It was quiet when I was there (mid May) and quite often I had the pool to myself. The location was great, a short drive to Tavira, a walk or mini train ride to the beach on the island (which is gorgeous). Staff were really pleasant and helpful. The on-site cafe is nice, I didn’t use the restaurant.
The supermarket on site was a bit rubbish with limited opening hours, but there is a proper supermarket five minutes down the road. There’s no free wifi but you can rent a router for €2 a day.
Would I stay again? Only if I could afford their better accommodation.

Perfect location to get to the lovely sandy beach. The staff at the resort are very good and professional also speaks very good English. Supermercado and the staff are very friendly and gave me a welcome as they remember me last few years, is ideal when to get something needed. And to get food for dinner at the studio apartment. The facility in the kitchen is very well provided with oven, fridge freezer, microwave oven that I do not use at all do not even have one at home! The view from the apartment is lovely to see the sea and the little train chugging along. The restaurant is excellent this year with new chef grilled gilthead bream and sea bass delicious. The restaurant last year was very disappointing. I will be back again next year and again.

Upgraded to 2 bedroom apartment which was great with LO. Terrace open onto grass which was fine for us, not so great if your kid likes to escape! Also the stairs down to the apartment were lethal so we used a different route into the apartment.
A few injuries sustained from marble table edge (thankfully it was rounded), the sofa bed which had a very hard edge and a slip in the bath but a bath mat was eventually provided on request.
Pool is not kiddie friendly. The 'river' (which was broken) is actually a foot bath. LO played in the showers instead.
Kitchen relatively well equipped (only small glasses) but oven door gets extremely hot. Full sized dishwasher a little excessive but washing machine was handy.
On site supermarket is well stocked, restaurant was fine but ask them to go easy with the oil.
Reception staff very helpful especially the lady with a young daughter who gave great advice.

great base to explore Ria Formosa Natural Park

The complex of apartments and villas is well placed to explore Ria Formosa Natural Park, small little villages and is close to the lovely sandy Barril Beach.
Reception is staffed 24hrs and my experience is that the staff are very helpful and respond immediately to any queries.
It is an older resort, so nothing flashy but I found all working well, basic appliances and kitchen equipment, beds comfy and daily room service fine. With beach so near and bus stop for buses into nearer towns or south Algarve I enjoy not needing a hire car. Also easy to hire bicycles.
Loved being able to walk along the sea side to Santa Luzia in the evening and enjoy al fresco meals in the restaurants at the sea front. They serve the freshest local fish and great wines. We went as a group to the restaurant A Casa and the octopus and seafood dishes there were praised by the foodies.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Complex is large with good amenities- restaurant, bar, snack bar and supermarket. However accommodation badly lets the place down. It's uncared for and needs updating - such a shame as the place had so much going for it otherwise.

The location is quiet and scenic. Perfect for a nice relaxing get away. Beach is not far away and travelling either by train or walking is easy and enjoyable. Staff are friendly and helpful. I had a great week in mid Sept - weather was great.

Good base for birdwatching trip out of season

I had 5 days there out of season to explore the Ria Formosa coast and a further trip up into the Algarve Hills around Barranco do Velho, which was easily accessed via Tavira and Sao Bras d' Alpotil. The N125 runs right along the coast, and Pedras is just off this. From here i got to Castro Marim, Quinta Marim and Olhao easily inside around 35 minutes, but travelling early in the morning. Parking is usually available outside the apartments, but it's a big site, and lost some time driving about trying to work out the block/apartment numbering system, which i assume has evolved as the place has grown.

Unfortunately Pedras del Rae has seen better days, the accomodation is very basic, rooms damp and poorly heated. We upgraded to an apartment for 4 people but the kitchen equipment wasn't sufficient for self catering, only a microwave and 2 electric hobs, no oven,kettle or wine glasses and cork screw. It really does require a lot of investment to bring it up to standard.

We were upgraded from a studio to a very nicely equipped one bedroom apartment. It's not a hotel, but rather a unique neighborhood of homes and condo units around a central reception area about 2 km from the nearest town. We stayed an extra night.

A very pleasant holiday location

We had a very enjoyable time in Pedras D'el Rei,the rooms are very clean & comfortable & the whole complex (pool & grounds)are kept very clean & the staff are very friendly and helpful especially with directions etc, we enjoyed the short train ride to & from Barril Beach which is outstandingly beautiful, if you didn't want to travel away from this complex during your stay there is everything you would need to have a great holiday onsite i.e a small supermarket, pool, bar, restaurant & games area & plenty to see within walking distance

The place is large and spread out over a large area, we arrived in the dark and had great difficulty finding our accommodation, poor dim lighting did not help. The bars and restaurants were well looked after by excellent staff, food was good and nothing was any trouble. If you don't have a car then you are limited with what you can do. The surrounding towns are good and well catered for with food, bars, and shopping. The local beach was very good clean, easy to access via a small train. Plenty of facilities there.

Amazing Portugal holiday!

Really nice hotel in the algarve, staff so friendly and very accommodating. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained by staff. It's always worthy paying for the superior flat , great vire and outdoor wear! Only disappointing bits were the beds- very uncomftable and the so called satellite tv with 4 channels- although you don't always watch it on holiday it would be nice to have either bbc world news or CNN like last time. The pool is amazing and the bar is great! Really relaxed environment . You should definetly try it out!

Oh so quiet. ...

Pedras del Rei is a sprawling complex of villas and apartments set in lush gardens. It is somewhat the worse for wear and in need of external maintenance. However the apartment we rented was very clean and reasonably well equipped. No kettle though. Main problem was a lack of natural light and damp hard beds. But it was Winter and I'm sure that in Summer the place has a different feel. We seemed to be the only guests too. Restaurant on site has a great atmosphere (roaring log fire and good service) but a bit pricey. Good location for walking and Barril beach is excellent.

Hotel and the grounds are great, The train ride with free tickets to the beach from the hotel is very interesting. lovely beach for people who like the to sunbath and some good places to eat. Santa Luzi is a very quiet but with a bus leaving the hotel makes it very easy to get into Tavira, We had hired a car and had a made short trips to Monte Gordo near the Spanish border and down to Olhao. we had a luxury apartment and the equipment in the kitchen even included a washer and dishwasher All in all a lovely holiday, the hotel is perfect for families will go again

Hugely over-priced

Pedras d'el rei's huge advantage is it's location beside Barril beach. The grounds of Pedras are beautiful with its white-washed houses and apartments, trees and plants. It's a very relaxing place. But the accommodation is extremely basic. Even the superior apartments, which are hugely over-priced, are basic. The supermarket in Pedras is a rip-off. Prices for many items are three or four times what you'd pay at home. They need to upgrade their accommodation and lower their prices so the traveller gets a fair deal.

Good hotel at reasonable cost

Having booked this hotel at short notice on the basis of other reviews I had high hopes and wasn't disappointed. On check in we were upgraded to an apartment from a studio. It was lovely with balconies on both levels overlooking a large grassy area. As a birder I was delighted as i saw several new species there. We ate in the restaurant once and it was very good with excellent attentive service. The apartment was cleaned regularly and the beds made daily. It was fitted with air-conditioning which doubled as heating and it was very efficient, heating the rooms quickly when required at night (Feb). We are considering returning in July for another visit.
The surrounding area is good for cycling and walking and nearby Santa Luzia has many good restaurants and cafes.

We´ve been staying here at Christmas / New Year for many years, and it´s a great, relaxing place. The bungalows are well equipped and comfortable, and the gardens are lovely. There are lots of good walks you can do, and Tavira is just down the road. The staff are helpful, and there´s a good shop on site. I would definitely recommend it for a winter break.

A wonderful complex of individual \"bungalows\" of varying sizes. The open spaces were very good and the pool was wonderful. Going in October meant that it was fairly quiet and I'm sure that it will be busier in July/August. However, still had very good weather in October.
Trip to the beach on the little train was great and ran regularly. Beach itself was very clean and tidy.

The layout and location of this hotel is great. The grounds are very well kept and it has good facilities. Our Studio apartment was very basic and lacked some some maintenance and one of te days no one came to clean the room. I would probably return if I can book an upgraded room, as we saw some really nice bungalow type houses which were also for rent.

The room was small, but clean and very well equipped. My only real gripe was that it felt (and smelled) a little damp - but possibly that was due to the unusual weather around the time of my visit. I didn't use the restaurant, but instead made use of the well-equiipped kitchen (that little oven turned out great chips!).

My only other problem was with housekeeping, who turned up very late several times (once they did not arrive until 6.15pm, by which time the last thing I wanted was to be disturbed so they could clean). That said, the housekeeping staff were very thorough and friendly.

There were crisps on the floor and the room had not been cleaned properly. The apartment was poorly maintained. The accomodation was not central and was approx 7km from Tavira town centre

Hotel staff were very nice. The 1 bedroom apartment was kept clean and fully equipped, the terrace was a big plus. Only little detail is that we had twin beds. There is a nice supermarket on site which is convenient to buy a few things for breakfast. The pool is clean and the restaurant really good (big portions, you won't be hungry!)The walk to the beach is enjoyable (the train is fun too) and the beach superb. Totally satisfied.

Ich war 4 Tage mit meinem Hund in der Anlage. Außen sehr schön und gepflegt.
Zimmer war in Ordnung, etwas alt und hatte nichts mit den Fotos zutun bei der Buchung. Türen u. Fenster undicht, ständiger lauter Zug durch das Zimmer.
Den Zug zur Insel konnte ich leider mit Hund nicht benutzen und im Snack Bar/Restaurant sind Hunde auch nicht erlaubt, somit sehr Schade, da es nicht das Wetter für draußen war.
Für einen kurzen Aufenthalt war es in Ordnung.

We stayed near end of season, atmosphere in the resort was rather tranquil, which we liked.
Apartments and public areas are a little worn, but spacey and well-equipped. We even got an upgrade to a suite with a third bedroom (which we did not need as a family of 3, but overall we enjoyed the extra space).
For wifi in the room we needed to rent a router, but the price of 1 Euro per day is moderate and quality was perfect.
Access to the (public) beach is by a 1500m walk, but there is a small train which can be used free of charge by hotel guests.

Wir haben uns wunderbar erholt. Einfache aber saubere Unterkunft. Jeden Tag wurde gereinigt und die Betten gemacht. Alle 2 Tage frische Handtücher. Für ein Studio nicht selbstverständlich. Parkplatz und Fahrkarten für die Bummelbahn sind mit dabei. Zum Essen würde ich die nahegelegenen Lokale in Santa Lucia oder Tavira empfehlen. Wir werden wiederkommen

Det er altid en fornøjelse at besøge dette resort med den fantastiske beliggenhed i det beskyttede naturområde tæt på Barril stranden. Omgivelserne er perfekte. De enkelte boliger kan godt svinge lidt med hensyn til beliggenhed og komfort. Denne gang havde vi en fantastisk udsigt ud mod naturområdet, men lidt ubekvemme senge i den lille studielejlighed. Tidligere har vi haft lejlighed med seperat soveafsnit og også kaldet studio med pragtfuld udsigt, lidt mere tilbagetrukket. Der findes også perfekt indrettet lejligheder mod haven/parken hvis man kan undvære havudsigten.Dog savner man i alle lejligheder internationale tv kanaler og wifi i lejlighederne

Pero el estudio era deprimente: muebles de hace más de 30 años, baldosas de difícil limpieza y muchas rotas, iluminación deficiente ( de noche parecía una cueva), ventanas y contraventanas muy mal conservadas ( costaba un mundo abrir y cerrar), te sentías muy inseguro al estar a pie de calle y cualquiera poder saltar sin esfuerzo y entrar y la bañera demasiado antigua.

Kilometer langer Sandstrand, alles sehr entspannend. Anlage liegt an/ in einem Naturschutzgebiet, schön zu sehen, wie das zusammen geht.
Leckere vegane und vegetarische Snacks, sowohl am Strand als auch in der Bar. Sehr hilfsbereite Rezeption. Alles prima.

Perfekt für Strandliebhaber

Die Anlage ist datiert. Es ist etwas Glueckssache , ob man in einem renovierten oder nicht renovierten Haus untergebracht wird. Das hat aber den Vorteil das zwischen den Haeusern sehr viel Platz fuer uralte Oliven- und andere baeume ist. Die Gruenanlagen sind sehr gepflegt. Der Strand ist in 15 Minuten per Bimmelbahn durchs Watt zu erreichen. Dort gibt es einige nette Restaurants und auch Liegestuehle (gegen hohe Gebuehr). Der Strand ist wunderschoen und sehr sauber!

Não gostei. Fui com o objetivo de velejar. No site de reservas informa que tem esportes náuticos, mas não informa que não funcionam na primavera. Somente na alta temporada de verão. Dirigi 500 quilometros e Perdi meu tempo e dinheiro.

Localizacao e praia exelente

Melhor localização impossível e talvez por isso a manutenção e limpeza dos apartamentos é praticamente inexistente. WC com bolor e sifão aberto. Aldeamento com espaços ajardinados cuidados e funcionários da recepcao bastante simpáticos. Recomendo pela envolvente e praia lindissimaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
