We have stayed at the Red Lion in Port Angeles twice now, both times have been great! We love the water view rooms the best, even though we spend the majority of the day exploring, it’s worth it. I do think it’s time to start updating the bathrooms though.

The front desk is as not helpful at all. We were told our room would be ready early and they would call. We waited in the town- not much to do- called them twice and 3 1/2 hours later we went to check in and they told us they forgot to call. We wasted our whole day. The workout facility has 3 pieces of cardio equipment and that is it. Very small. The pool door would constantly get stuck so you had to find someone to let you in and the town is dirty.

The hot tub was good but needed to have all the leaves scooped out before we could go in. Staff got on it right away.
The breakfast was ok. Not like staying at a court yard or other hotels with breakfast. But it was something.

For the price, the room is okay. Over $400 for a room facing the parking lot with outdated bathrooms. The room was clean but may have bugs. I got multiple bites during the night from bed bugs and mosquitoes.
Location is good, but price is too high for a standard room. Waterfront rooms cost almost the same as the parking lot rooms.

My stay at this property, which I thought was a hotel turned out to be a very average motel. There are two sections the front section faces the water. Another section is a large building back from the one facing the water and this one faces a parking lot and it is certainly just like a very inexpensive motel. I certainly think this section should not be advertised as a hotel. They shower area was extremely tight and the drain hardly worked.

Overpriced for what is it. Rooms are outdated, shower barely worked, weird stains on curtains. Exceptionally rude receptionist. Condescending tone and not very helpful. The only good thing was location so if you must stay here $40 upgrade for a view was worth it.

Very old property that they've tried to maintain to the best of their ability. Price point doesn"/ match up with a run down property. Better off checking out other hotels in the area. Lots of other properties around. Location was good. One of the bed sheets had stains on them. Housekeeping did not remove trash nor old wet towels. Had to flag them down to replenish coffee, and toilet paper. There should be some standardized checking of rooms.

Great hotel in an outstanding location. Right next to Town, including the ferry the restaurant within the hotel property is very good as well and affordable. The staff was extremely polite and considering how many people were booked in the hotel it was quiet.

Upon entering the reception, there were 5 workers behind the desk. One offered to help the only other customer there and the remaining 4 completely ignored me. I had to finally to approach someone and ask if I could check-in. On the 2nd day the cleaning staff only replaced the towels and emptied one garbage. The beds were not made, the coffee and amenities were not restocked and 2 other garbages were not emptied. I then learned (via google search) that the property policy was that we had to request cleaning. Maybe they should have told me that? Anyways, I sent a message via Expedia messaging requesting a cleaning and I ran into a cleaner and told him we'd be out in about an hour and please clean then. When we returned at the end of the day, the room was not touched. I called the front desk and told them and asked if they could at least bring new towels. They said they would but the new towels never arrived so we walked down the hall and took them from the open towel room ourselves. The room itself was pretty new and roomy, but the exterior walkways could use some sweeping (especially below the middle stairs). Big picture: For a motel that costs > $300 a night, I think better cleaning, service and amenities is in order.

Let’s start with a great view. The check in was a little bumpy because I used hotels.com. The room is a little run down and the bathroom shower has black mildew. There is a nice walking trail. The meal was good at the hotel restaurant, service could use improvement at the restaurant. A little pricey for what you get. It’s OK.

We stayed here for two nights and were impressed by how attentive and helpful the staff were throughout our visit. The location is a definite highlight — you're right on the doorstep of Olympic National Park, which is incredibly convenient.

That said, the property itself could benefit from some updates and modernization. One tip for future guests: request a water-view room. My friend had one and the views were absolutely stunning. We ended up overlooking the parking lot, which was a bit of a letdown by comparison.

We didn't get a chance to try the on-site restaurant, as we preferred to explore local dining options. Overall, it's a solid choice — especially given the limited accommodation options in the area.

The overall property was very nice, unfortunately, our reservations got switched due to them switching over to a new system. So we were put in the “overflow“ building instead of the main hotel. We were there for a three night stay, so I was a little disappointed. We were traveling with our grandchildren and it felt a little cramped.

Very clean rooms with recent updates.
Misleading and overcharging- 1/3 of the rooms face the water (for and extra $40 a night) and the “Mountain View” is a parking lot with a cargo bin and short tree line. To use the extra amenities (that include a pool in the middle of a parking lot and non-working jacuzzi that has an Arnold Palmer jug full of chemicals as a barricade) cost an extra $10. The workout room contains three cardio machines, a mat and an exercise ball. Laundry is $8 to wash and $8 to dry- but says it’s $2.50. When this was brought to the attention of the staff on two different occasions they said manager would have to handle it and said they could not refund unless it was a direct booking- but yet they have a credit card on file for damages and crickets are chirping.
Lastly, with a marathon in town, the price went waaaay up. If cleanliness is super important as a traveler, then this is the place. If ethics are important, then these details are worth considering.

Worst ever experience with expedia and the hotel. Both expedia and hotel has done a fraud. I was not give the room i booked then i was offered a credit of 300 . At the time of checkout the credit was applied and 2 days later extra charges of 216 applied on my card. Now neither expedia helping nor hotel, both of them shifting responsibility. Hotel and expedia both are involved and making a fraud. Worst ever experience. Avoid booking with expedia , dont stay at the hotel both are fraud.

We loved this location at Port Angeles. Our room was clean and bright. However, the bathroom could use some remodeling. It was a short walk to the Black Ball Ferry, and we took a day trip to beautiful Victoria. The next morning we enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant attached to the hotel. The crab cake Benedict was yummy! We were traveling with 2 boys, ages 6 & 9. We would be happy to visit this location again.

I initially booked for an economy room but when I saw that it overlooked the hectic tight parking lot (crew there also filming) I upgraded to oceanfront view for the 2 day stay with balcony. This made it all worthwhile. Clean rooms. Tiny gym and no bubbles working in jacuzzi.
Without ocean view, I would rate it a 2.

The overall experience is lacking. While the view was great and the room was clean, there was no mini bar, water bottles or other little extras in the room. The coffee in the room was awful. The room was right off of the entrance and an ice machine is located literally directly outside of the room which made it very noisy. Not a great value.

Great rooms and remodeled, modern look. Staff was very nice abe helpful.
Our room AC did not work and it got super stuffy in there overnight. Our son ended up waking up about 2 hours early since he and all of us were uncomfortable. Noticed the sliding glass door has a lower window at the bottom after the fact that we could have opened to likely help that, vs opening the whole door and letting in a bunch of light. Would stay here again. Prime location!!

The check in process was a nightmare. I spent at least 45 minutes including having to go all of the way back to sign paperwork they messed up to begin with. The girl “training” the guy who screwed up was not only horribly rude to the guy she was training in front of a room full of customers- she was disrespectful to me and felt inconvenienced by having to answer my question about their screw up. She really needs some customer service training and to not be training anyone. She humiliated that poor kid. So even though the room was great, the check in just ruined it.

For a $200 a night hotel. the Red Lion is not up to par. We faced the parking lot with multiple unsightly containers in it, the pillows were very small and uncomfortable and they provided cheap, plastic glasses in the room!!! A red solo cup would have been a huge improvement to these cheap cups. We actually bought wine glasses at the dollar store to drink our wine. I wouldn't stay here again.
