The proprietor was great! Given it’s a B&B and the price I’d have expected the breakfast to be included but it was an add on. Very clean room. It was small but that wasn’t a problem for us.

Beautiful and comfortable stay in Glendalough

We arrived slightly earlier than the check-in time, and were greeted by Christopher, who gave us a tour and couldn't have been nicer. We had two rooms for a family of 4. The rooms are very clean, and the beds were super comfy! The lodge is quiet. I barely heard or saw another tenant while we were there, even though they were fully booked. This is a beautiful property close to all the sites in Glendalough.

I’m not an experience traveler by any means but Christopher is an outstanding host. I felt well cared for and all of my needs were met happily. The room was lovely and well kept. The breakfast was outstanding and plentiful. I can’t recommend the Tudor Lodge highly enough. When I return to Glendalough I will definitely be staying at Tudor Lodge.

We stayed at Tudor Lodge for one night as we wanted to explore Glendalough and do some hiking. The lodge is charming and we were welcomed when we arrived and shown to our room. Breakfast (at an additional charge) is fresh and plentiful and the lodge sit in a lovely quiet area - it was raining so we didn't explore the property much. Bed was large and comfortable, bathroom was clean and it was well situated to explore Glendalough 5 mins away by car. Add'l tip - Wicklow Heather Restaurant is 2 mins away and serves great lunch/dinner options.

Loved loved loved! Great art, character, lansdscape, outdoor space, garden, I ate all my breakfast! I never eat all my breakfast! Staff at b and b was great! So glad I booked here! Interested in history of house though, I wish that was available. Local restaurants were walkable and delicious, great staff at hotel restaurant. The mattress was amazing. An espresso machine in room or a common area would be great. My husband wakes early and likes his shots o black. The coffee in the breakfast room was better than what he was able to make in the room, but there is an electric kettle and instant coffee. Knowing the history and some slight room reconfiguration to allow more room on the window side of the bed is the only other suggestion I have. We loved the curved brick feature in our room. As a stomach sleeper the large footboard was a pain and caused a bruise as I had the window side and I kept kicking the tea kettle table in the night. I dont think Im clumsy but my husband just laughed when I said that out loud so I dont know lol

This is a wonderful place to stay in Wicklow, and is walkable to Glendalough and the Wicklow Way. My room was small but very clean and comfortable and charmingly appointed with a large bath, desk, very good internet, etc. Breakfast was ample and they had the best brown bread locally made. For those looking to hike and be mindful of the environment, there is a bus from Dublin that drops you 5 mins away, and the Lodge is on a trail to all the local hikes, dinner is also walkable so you do not need a car at all to visit a few days. But if you drive, there was ample parking. Lovely gardens.
Hosts are very nice. One minor minor note- on check in there should be more information (my towels were never changed- should I have dropped on the floor? and after hours I had no idea how to contact and request)

Rustic but different

The host was nice and friendly but the check in procedure was different from what I'm use too. Had to ring a door bell and the owner came to help me check in.
For the room, it had a musty smell to it which walls chipping its paint with god awful red carpet. The windows had no screen so I couldn't leave my window open. It was really warm in there which made it difficult to sleep. Felt stuffy. Quite the rustic feel I got from this place. I liked the dungeon key they give you for your stay. Thought that was neat.
Good thing I didn't have the breakfast included option because it looked to be a very poor selection of food. Alot of it looked unappetizing to me. It looked plain and boring as well. The dining area had a good vibe to it though. I liked the location as it was close to the trails.

Absolutely breath taking

Wonderful location, little villiage of laragh, 20 min walk along the path that the monks built. Very convenient to get to glendalough visitor centre and all the walks.
The hotel rooms were so cosy, clean and beautiful. The atmosphere was superb.
There's a fantastic restaurant that does great vegan food called Wicklow heather. Lovely shop 5 min walk. Lovely, friendly pub 5 min walk.
Breakfast was absolutely outstanding. All cooked as you sit and enjoy continental breakfast. Fresh fruit, cereals and all the trimmings.
Last but definitely not least, the owners who run this beautiful b&b are out of this world. So warm and informative, really relaxing aura. I felt even more at home there than in my own home!!!!
I don't ever return places even if they were good because I always like to try different places/hotels. Yet, this is a place I will visit time and time again. I miss it an incredible amount' mainly because of how welcomed I was.

Charming and cozy

The owner Chris was friendly and check-in was smooth, although you do have to ring the bell and wait for someone to come to the front door.
The lodge has two chalets out back and we stayed in one of these as we had our dog with us. The location is beautiful. There is a deck at the bottom of the garden looking out into the river. If the weather cooperated it would be beautiful too eat breakfast or sit out here sipping on a drink. The chalet was cozy and clean. Although there was tea and coffee in the kitchen, there was no milk or anything else, so get some provisions before arriving because if staying in the chalet it is self catering. The shower temperature was barely luke warm and we brought this to the attention of the owner but he said he couldn't do anything about it. It's an electric shower and the thermostat needs replacing. At €135 per nights it's on the expensive but a perfect location for exploring the national park and surrounds. TV reception is poor but we aren't there to watch TV so aren't too bothered about that. A couple of small recycling bins would also be welcome in the kitchen. A little more attention to detail would make this place really worth it.

Tudor Lodge is a fantastic place to stay and in a most beautiful place. Chris is brilliant, very welcoming and friendly, a great host, he can't do enough for you and his local knowledge so helpful. Food lovely, rooms clean, traditional, homely and comfortable, cleaned every day. We are definately going back.

Quirky b & B in good location

Lovely staff, comfortable bed. Bedside table and light on one side of bed only even though there was room on other side of bed for these. A breakfast menu would be a bonus

Great stay

We were greated by friendly Christopher who showed us around to our cabin. Was nicely surprised that it was small kitchen in a cabin which is great when you have a young family. Beautiful garden and lovely seating area next to the river. The place was clean and comfortable. Great location. Walking distance to the restaurants and shop. We had a nice stay.

The Tudor was nice but the description was misleading. We did not know what \"self catering\" meant and were disappointed to learn that breakfast was not included in our package. After all they call themselves a \"B&B. We did not think that was right and the owner would not make it good. He needs to clarify his description.

Regrettably disappointed

I'm sorry to say I was disappointed about this place. We stayed in Room 8 which was so cold I had to ask for a heater because we went to bed in PJs, socks, t shirt and scarf!

The response wasn't great as I was told that nobody had reported this before (which didn't help me feel valued) and that the heating had been on for 12 hours. I did get a portable heater though and after about an hour the room started to feel more normal. The shower room had no heating and was quite cold!

There was a small TV on top of the wardrobe, and the only tea/coffee provided seemed to be the supplies with kettle in the corridor, which we thought was shared with the room opposite. It included an open jar of small cookies which didn't help as we had no idea how long the jar was open.

Breakfast was good but the choices weren't obvious (I didn't hear the offer for a full Irish) but the scrambled egg was presented really well and tasted lovely! There was no choice of bread for toast offered but when I asked for brown instead of the white provided was given soda bread toasted.

The area is lovely, and at least one other resident said their room was lovely and warm so perhaps it's just room 8!! Having stayed in two previous places in Dublin and Clonmel for €51 and €80 respectively, we did not feel this €95 represented good value for money.

Lovely stay in Laragh at Tudor Lodge

A lovely lodge, with pleasant host, and separate entrance for guests that gives privacy.. red carpeted room with ceiling beams and open brick feature. Breakfast excellent. Bed very large and cosy. Showers hot, and as it was chilly weather the heating was on full. We were within walking distance of Lynam's pub, with great atmosphere and good bar food. And very close to Glendalough for a drive and walk.

Easy to find. Rooms noisy if other quests aren't considerate - but even walking quietly in hallway could be heard and wake you up if others came in late. Breakfast was very nice. A little more pricey than some other places of equal quality.

No reservation on file

I didn’t want to rate this hotel poorly-but your review system gives me no other way to give feedback. After booking a year ago and having an Expedia confirmation, we were disappointed to find they did not have a record of it. It was an extremely busy weekend for the area. The inn keeper was kind enough to call around and found us a place to stay. The hotel has no computer system and had faulty record keeping.

Chalet Stay

We stayed in the new pine chalet, which unfortunately lacks any wardrobes or hanging space. the generous sized beds filled the rather small bedrooms, but we were able to use one bed to store our clothing on as there were only two of us. This chalet is really idea for a group of up to four backpackers who don't need anywhere to hang clothes. The owners are very friendly and the sitting area by the river is most relaxing, particularly the hanging seat!

Disappointment

Tudor Lodge read well, looked appealing on internet search for accommodation and we thought we had chosen well However the stay proved disappointing. The bedroom said to be for three persons was small, the bathroom was no bigger than a cupboard and could best be described as ' a walk in but reverse out' - no way could you undress, shower, after drying then dress in there. The towels were stained and the smell of urine was overwhelming. The TV had no signal. To add to our disappointment was the fact that the breakfast offered was mediocre and to top it all we were charged as for 3 people staying when in fact we were just 2. making it far too expensive for B&B. Had we been aware of this we could have sourced a hotel for around the same money. Wouldn't recommend it and definitely would never use it again.. All in all a disappointing experience.

Friendly reception; helpful advice; clean functional rooms; good breakfast; restaurant and good pub a few minutes walk or drive away, and close to many attractions of the area. About all that can be asked of a B&B.
