Clean and comfortable room. Good shower, lovely bedding.
There was no remote for the tv so had to manually change channel, bedside lamp but no plug socket to use it.
Breakfast was good, ample enough choice for continental.

Good single room in this inn for a traveller at reasonable rate. Great basic breakfast, pay a bit extra for cooked stuff. Lovely friendly staff. I loved the bar atmosphere, a hub for locals and for Welsh singing and music-making (at weekend, when I was there, at least.) Good Celtic kind of \"craic\".

Nothing really around but , it’s above a pub. Small carpark and if you come back after 6 you will struggle to park. Shower was temperamental and we asked for more milk but didn’t get this until after we’re asleep. It was left outside the room. The free breakfast is a small continental breakfast. Neither the less, still nice. You can buy a full breakfast. If you’re looking to Climb Snowdon, which we did, it’s a good 45 minute drive away. But if you want to get your head down, it’s the place to stay.

Old (antic) furniture, missing pieces from bathroom, noisy fan in the bathroom. Window... that is not an window, couldn't keep the rain out, it was windy outside and inside, the window isn't fit for purpose. Everything was low quality. The owner invested a penny maybe 10 years ago in that room.

Our room was nice, clean and bright with a large window facing the road.
Staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay.
However check in was late at 5pm with an early checkout at 10am. No breakfast or lunch option due to being out of season and no fridge to store any food over night.
Great for walks but anything else you need to travel out by car.

First room I had, had an issue with the door, staff immediately swapped my room! Staff were very kind and helpful, room had both a fan and electric heater which was perfect. Great food, nice pint selection. Excellent location.

The room was quite basic and the cold air was wafting the curtain in the room. The portable heater was not working but they managed to find a working one for us. The warm tap took ages to warm up so we decided not to use the shower. I had an email off them telling me when they were serving food but they did not serve any food when we were there so that was disappointing.

We stayed at the hotel last weekend. It’s pub with accommodation above. Seems to be a hub of the local community. Location is good if you are happy to drive to destinations. Would have liked it to be slightly more informative when we arrived like how to check out, dinner, where to
get water etc. I could see they are working to improve the hotel annd it looks like the dining room has recently been refurbished nicely. Room was clean, fresh sheets, towels, clean bathroom. But I would say the room could do with some TLC as some things were missed such as controller broken, body wash and soap could have been filled up and had to be taken out to be used and vents cleared and window opened to freshen up the air. Food was good and filling.

The room felt safe overall, but there were a few issues. The window couldn’t open, making it a bit hot, and the curtains didn’t block any light—expect to wake up early with the sun. Noise from the busy pub below lasted until around 10pm. The lower bed had very little headroom, even when just sitting up.

Bedside light didn't work because their was no wall socket to plug it in on one side of the bed. The other side was fine. The shower was noisy and the water would go from very cold to too hot and back again. The shower room was a bit shabby .The breakfast was not much for the price. I also had to tune the TV in to watch BBC. The bed was comfortable but to low . The Good News, What staff we did see where a credit and very pleasant.

Very quaint and delightful hotel with a fantastic pub, staffed by some genuinely lovely people. The rooms were spacious, beds and pillows were extremely comfortable and it was a great atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed it, will definitely recommend to friends.

wonderful stay

comfortable, clean, nice views around, amazing location, just down from the hotel there is a Snowdonia slate trail. Also the pub the hotel has delicious local beers which are great to enjoy after hiking all day long. The hotel has a long history dating back to 14th century

Disappointing Stay

We spent two nights at this hotel and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations—especially considering how expensive it was. The entire place felt outdated and in need of renovation, and even basic amenities were missing (there wasn’t even a hairdryer in the room).

The worst part was the bathroom. The water pressure was so bad that water wasn’t even flowing—it was just dripping from the shower head, making it nearly impossible to shower. One morning, the pressure improved for about two minutes, but there was no hot or even warm water at all.

For the price we paid, we expected at least the basics to be working. Sadly, this wasn’t the case.

The mattress and pillows were horrible, super thin spring mattress with thin pillows. The shower looked like it had black mold in the cracks. The staff were very nice, but I wouldn't come back because of the quality.

Have no expectations when booking this hotel…

No hot water , had a cold shower, after hiking all day, even after reporting it 3 times. They could not swap the room as the water in there was also cold. Poor cleaning, poor breakfast choices and services. Worktop in the bar area was sticky. Nice location.

We were running late and I called and told them that we were going to be later than expected and the girl was so nice she told us that it was okay they were going to wait for us, we finally got there after 11pm and they were there waiting for us, she said they were concerned because of the road and it was raining and misty, they were so nice and friendly and the gentleman helped bringing our luggage upstairs. I give them 10/10.

Checked in and was greeted by friendly staff. Room was in much need of a refurbishment. Everything was quite run down. No hot water so had a cold shower, luckily it was the hottest day of the year. The window wouldn’t shut and the curtain let in all the light so prepare to be awake from 430am in the summer.
Room aside it’s a lovely community pub, we stayed for food which was really nice and had beers in the sun in the beer garden. All staff friendly and check out easy.
Overall - would recommend if rooms had a bit of an upgrade!

Warm Room, Cool Views 🗻

I had a great stay at Y Pengwern Hotel. The room was super cozy, spotless, and had everything I needed to feel right at home - perfect for winding down after a day out. I really appreciated the extra heaters they provided—perfect if you like the room toasty and warm.

The view from the window was absolutely stunning. It looked right out over the mountains, and catching the sunrise and sunset from there made the whole trip feel even more special.

The staff were all really friendly and helpful, which added to the relaxed, welcoming vibe of the place. I’d happily stay there again!

This was not their fault, but it was sent too late for me to cancel and rebook anywhere else and get a full refund. Any chance of some money back from hotels. Com at all?

There was a warm, efficient welcome. The room and bathroom were spotless, the bed comfortable and the water steaming hot.
I cannot comment on the food as the kitchen was unfortunately closed when I stayed so no breakfast (which was included in the description on the Expedia website) or evening meal, which I had hoped for. The beer was good in the bar, though!

Worse stay in a B&B for a good long time.

Advertised as including Breakfast on Hotels.com and other websites, this is what we paid for Bed and Breakfast. When checking in was asked ' did you get the email about Breakfast?', No I replied, 'Well we don't provide anything, not even continental'. Thats strange I said, you are clearly advertising and charging customers for Bed and Breakfast.

Had an evening meal, which I can only describe as the worse meal I've had for a good long time, one of the meals was inedible, which we complained about and did get a refund. the next few nights we found some decent eating places but had to drive 2-3 miles up the road.

No room service to replenish tea / milk etc.

This place appears to be run by the community but it appears they are only interested in it for a watering hole for the locals!!

I really liked the idea of a community run hotel, but it was simply not worth it. No drinking water in the room (fetch it yourself down the hall), black mould everywhere, cold (window didn't shut, heating was turned off for the whole building and duvet very thin) and we paid for breakfast when booking, then were told they \"don't do breakfast\" when we got there. For the price they charged it was greatly disappointing.

Advert says continental breakfast is included, which was reason for booking here not elsewhere locally. Only after checking in we're we informed that no breakfast is available \"as there's no chef.\" A continental breakfast doesn't require a chef - anyone can put out cereal, milk, toast and , pastries! Informed closest village southbound to get breakfast was in Dolellau, a half hour drive away!!! My details were taken for manager to contact me to offer a partial refund. Over a week later and no contact made and false advert for breakfast included remains.
