Very deceptive advertising not what it says in ad.

What a disappointment it was. No restaurant no bar very tired and in desperate need of an upgrade. Cooked breakfast was soaking in old oil.Supply of bread ran out so they rushed to shop for more. Bedroom was very low standard and housekeeping was done once during our 4 night stay. I had booked to stay in a hotel not a Chinese restaurant the whole place smelt of Chinese cooking!!! The decor was very substandard and in desperate need of decorating.

Super friendly manager and perfect for a short stay in Betws y Coed.
Rooms were clean and there were several amenities that i was hoping for.
Tremendous hiking trail right behind the hotel.
I highly recommend The Dragon.

Shower controls broken knob was not attached anymore to shower so difficult to control or turn off.
Radiator was also the same was set on full blast and unable to turn off. Left a night early, was told she would get someone in to fix but no offer off a partial refund the night we left early. It was like a sauna in the room

Lee the owner was very friendly and tries hard. Chinese Restaurant and Bar have not been available since 2020. Why is Expedia still advertising it being open? indeed the Dragon website says (temporarily unavailable) unfortunately i booked with Expedia. Room 14 is fine

I stayed at The Dragon for 5 nights in October 2024 and was fully satisfied with the accommodations. The room was much better than expected, fairly large, very clean and comfy. The curtains could be a little thicker as I like a very dark room but it wasn't an issue given the time of year. The bathroom had good water pressure and plentiful hot water. The Wi-Fi was great and was nice to have a decent TV, too. The bed was a real gem - I had stayed in a dozen or so dif places in this extended vacation before getting to Betws-Y-Coed and this bed was for sure the best or second best I had slept in. I would stay here again if back in the area.

Disappointing hotel

Very tired and dated hotel. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean but needed updating. This hotel is clearly in decline though the staff member was helpful and polite. Food was okay too, we only had breakfast as the restaurant side was closed down. Our room overlooked the main road into the river opposite so wasn't a mountain view as first stated. Wouldn't stay again unless it was updated.

B&B not an hotel with a restaurant or bar.

Advertised as having a restaurant and lounge bar. Both are now closed, so it's really just a B&B. I wouldn't have booked here if I had been aware of this as this meant we had to find somewhere else to eat and get a drink, which I hate having to do. I had to phone twice to get access to check in as place was locked. Seems to be run by one lady on her own. Hotel very dated and tired. We had to clean the shower head as it was covered in mould before we could use it. Cobwebs above bed and side wall lights heavy with dust. Breakfast was very good though. Really needs advertised description updated urgently.

Located on the \"strip\" in Betws-Y-Coed, this B&B is well situated to take in the things this village has to offer. Lots of dining and specialty clothing shops near by. Rail from Lladnudno is a ten minute walk. The owner and her neice gave us service, both were very pleasant to deal with. An outside cleanup and some improvements to the inside would make it so much nicer. Excellent full English breakfast

Sadly it needs a lot of money spent on the property to bring it up to an acceptable standard. Good breakfast, friendly host but overall dissapointing. Needs a deep clean, decorated throughout and a good declutter in the public areas. Dont understand how it can rate 8 out of 10 as at best a 5/6!

Comfortable room, great location and parking at the front of the property. Friendly lady who booked us in and also made breakfast that was also very good. Full English and a choice of cereals, toast, juice, tea and coffee. Restaurant at property is closed but there's plenty of places to eat close by. Would stay there again.

Booked 3 nights expecting a restaurant (due to the name) for convenience - restaurant permanently closed!
Friendly and helpful landlady seemed to be working / doing everything herself. Shower pressure useless, shower booth too small to bend down, would be beneficial in a prison! Clean and tidy rooms with a decent breakfast.

Decent stay for 2 nights

Overall we had a decent stay.
Great location only a few minutes walk into Betwys y Coed.
The building, carpets and rooms are a little tired and would benefit from a lick of paint and some modernisation.
Our en suite bathroom, which was small, had a sliding door which wasn't the most private or hygienic. The sink was in the main room therefore you had to leave the toilet to wash your hands.
The hotel's parking spots were all in use whilst we were there and so we parked for free on the public road outside but beware, these are first come, first served and you can't be guaranteed a spot.
Staff were polite and friendly. Good and plentiful breakfast.

God knows how you people operate…. The Dragon suffered a death in their family, one of the co owners. He died on 9th December and they have been shut indefinitely since then.

It beggars belief that your organisation is obviously totally unaware of their family situation. The remaining co owner has asked me to get my own money back as he cannot facilitate this.

Out of respect…the owners are Chinese. As an Australian, I can assure you that funerals can go on for months, especially if ashes must be returned to family plots in China. Chinese people have been resident in Australia since the 1800s gold rush.

Our stay at the Dragon Hotel was excellent Peter and Lee take extra care to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible if you enjoy a well cooked full english breakfast this is the place to stay.
Unfortunately due to covid having its effect on staffing they were unable to open the restaurant which will mean that we will be returning when the restaurant reopens

Not a good stay

Just two people running the hotel. Parking outside the building was restricted for 3 weeks and the owner didn’t inform us, they said it should be alright to park, we hd to call the traffic controller to check and they suggested not to park. The hotel restaurant has been closed for a year and they didn’t inform us about it as well. Room was quite nice but not clean, there some smell on the pillows, bedsheet and bedcover. Tables were dusty and wasn’t been cleaned properly. Served English Breakfast was dry and the fork in the tables are always dirty, had to ask them for another. Overall not a good stay. Wouldn’t recommend.

OK but wouldn't stay again

A very tired looking place that could do with a lot of TLC to bring it up to scratch. The outside of the hotel needed to be spruced up, and the initial welcome was not the best i've ever received
The restaurant is not open at the moment, and they seem to be using this area for guests to check in, as when we did this was in the bar area which seemed to be a dumping ground for everything so not a good first impression.
The room itself, the good points:
The bedding was clean and the bed was comfortable. With nice clean towels.
The bad points:
The bathroom was very small and the sink was in the bedroom which is not ideal. The shower head wasn't very clean and there was a few grubby areas.
Outside of the room some areas were grubby.
Breakfast was ok, but not too much choice and the help yourself buffet was not replenished during service.

The hotel is in a perfect position for exploring Snowdonia. The room was clean and comfy and good for a base with free parking. The breakfast was to a reasonable standard and the staff mainly friendly apart from when checking in. The guy I assume the owner was not very friendly and welcoming.

We stayed in a triple room for 2 nights as we were up climbing in Snowdonia. The rooms were fine for what we were looking for and the location was good. Only difference was that the address says that it is in the centre of Betws Y Coed, where as it is actually a few minutes up the road.
Apart from that can't complain.
