The whole place needs renovating, the carpets are old and dirty in all places, paint work is scruffy and in our room the taps were loose in the sink and bath. The temperature control for the shower just did nothing, so had to have the water at what ever temp came out!

Place is very noisy, lots of shouting from square outside and arguing guests having fights at 1:30 in the morning for over an hour. Staff did nothing.

Staff are friendly but inattentive. They hide in the kitchen so you have to knock on the kitchen door to ask them for service. The barman seems to think it funny to embarrassing customers by making them order the local beer in Welsh – why?

Food ok in evenings but breakfast, described as cooked, was stone cold. Obviously cooked night before and not reheated on the day.

Overpriced and down at heal at best. Don’t stay it’s dreadful. I have stayed in many hostels and hotels across the world and this is the worst!

The property is a little tired in places but as its an old building it sort of adds to its character. The staff were helpful, polite and welcoming. We had a meal at the bar and the food was superb. The buffet breakfast was really nice with quality produce.

Only one hanger on arrival but soon rectified, room not refreshed each day but more milk and cups in room washed on request each time we asked.
However on Wednesday night a member of staff had several guests with children, who were running in and out of the hotel screaming and shouting. As the evening went on the children became fractious leading to a lot crying and foul language possibly due to drink, by 9-00 pm Manny squeezed them all into his car. This spoilt the evening for many people sat outside on what should have been a lovely sunny evening.

Loved the hotel but dismayed evening meals were served in the bar area where dogs are allowed but breakfast and lunch were served in the restaurant where dogs are not allowed. The bar area is not very large, tables unsuitable for meals and is very popular with local residents so can get very busy.

I think it really good value and there are aspects that are excellent.The staff are really good.Included breakfast and coffee and indian buffet. What I didnt like is the lack of fire signs at rear near room 18. It bothered me my entire stay and flagged it up a frw times. If you use tbe rear fire you could lose your way in the smoke and perish. I have reported this a few times to the hotel. I would be amazed if they listened and improved FIRE EXIT door signs which are hidden. All other doors were locked so it is a bit of a worry.

The room was perfect for a family of 4 whose kids are grown as they each had a separate room within the room. However when we pulled back the sheets to our bed for the night, there was a large stain on the comforter as well as one of the other beds. It was nice having 2 bathrooms as well, but the toilet paper was just on a holder allowing it to dangle on the floor

massive disappointment

The room was clean and there was everything I needed, but the stair carpet was really filthy and grubby, the out side was untidy with weeds growing around the base of the building ,painting was needed everywhere to improve the look, we booked an evening meal ,but had to make do with the meal in the rather dingy bar that smelt of dogs, as the restaurant was not open that night

Overall experience was good. Got locked out of our room. Then asked for help which was immediate. The front desk was not staffed all the time. Ought to have had a notice in these instance of where to go for help. The land line was out of action the proceeding week of our staff when telephoning for booking confirmation but now fixed. Excellent fully cooked breakfasts to die for.

Good location … but lacks value for money

Eagles Hotel is located in a pleasant location with nice views (subject to room allocation). Breakfast is good, but is buffet style and with so few rooms, it would VERY good if it was made to order (avoid waste and serve hot). However, Eagles is very tired and in need of updating. Windows provide no noise insulation from the busy road and hotel activity outside that begins around 7am each day, or the beer garden in the evening. Despite claims of daily housekeeping, we stayed 4 nights and NO housekeeping is provided during your stay.

Had to wait a while to check in. Not a warm and welcoming reception bearing in mind had driven 3 hrs to get there. Place was quite worn. Some sort of Prom event was on which meant disturbed sleep, noisy at 1am. Breakfast however was excellent. The bin area of the carpark was very untidy.

From entering the Eagle's Hotel it was fist class All the way. All the staff We're very friendly, polite and professional.I was on a solo trip with my dog,to do some walking. The room had fantastic character in keeping with the building. The Room was big,bed very comfortable bathroom huge, All very clean. Didn't have evening meal but choices and prices looked good. Breakfast was fantastic, staff All had smile's on their faces throughout my stay. Fantastic, would recommend a stay at The Eagles.

Great stay for North Wales.

We had a wonderful 3 day stay at The Eagles Hotel. The room (#21) was large. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room when we needed to take a break from all the adventuring we did in the area. It was centrally located so getting to Conwy and Caenarfon and Snowdonia (Llanberis) was pretty easy. We at at the restaurant for dinner one night and the food was good. The Welsh Breakfast was good too. The staff was friendly and helpful and a joy to be around. The only negative was no lift, but you can't blame them for not having one. It is a century's old building and no way to add one. I highly recommend staying here.

In need of an update.

On the positive side:
friendly staff
lovely view over the river
comfy bed

On the negative side:
the old building felt unloved and in desperate need of a refurbishment (or at the very least the carpets need a good clean!)
the smell from the kitchen hits you as you check in and even pervades the rooms
the village is lacking the usual touristy feel of the area, no restaurants etc.

Very tired looking hotel. Grotty carpet that would be great with a clean. Didn’t eat at the restaurant as the menu was v limited. Bed was comfy enough but the room was cold as there wasn’t a thermostat for radiator so it wouldn’t come on. Towel rail did work in the bathroom but the shower was freezing so went without. Sixty odd pound for bed and breakfast, maybe should’ve spent more and gone a bit more upmarket. Staff were nice and friendly.

We came to stay at the Eagles for our family holiday. We were a family of 2 adults and 2 children. The staff were amazing, the location perfect and the hotel look beautiful. A few issues we had were: broken tv, the sound was muffled as the tv had a broken speaker and the controller sound function didn’t work so we were unable to turn it up or down. The queen size bed was 2 beds put together and was really uncomfortable and the shower despite looking amazing had next to no pressure so the water dribbled out. Cannot fault the staff as they were amazing and the food was delicious.

The hotel is a great destination if you're looking to use this area as a base camp to explore the local areas. The hotel was beautiful, although some areas were not as clean as they perhaps could have been. All in all, it was brilliant.

Take caution if you're planning on using a taxi service in this area as we tried for over an hour and couldn't get one.

We were greeted and checked in efficiently at reception. The room was very spacious (more like an apartment) and the bathrooms was very modern and clean. The room I stayed in was clean and well equipped. It would have been excellent if staying with family or friends as the 2 single beds were in separate rooms with their own doors. The breakfast was lovely and fresh. I would definitely stay there again.

Do not book a family room if you want to hear noisey crowds in the pub opposite until 1am.

Hotel is overpriced for a family room, which only has the addition of 2 single beds in a what can only be said, would be the size of a walk-in wardrobe. Also the heating didn't work and the main beds and pillows were old and uncomfortable, left a day early as really not worth spending another night there even though I wouldn't get a refund

Could be idyllic, sadly cleanliness lets it down.

The hotel itself is in a great location, beautiful view over looking the river from the garden and restaurant area. Ideal location for travelling by car to lots of local attractions, with bonus of local shops and walks without the need of traveling in the car. The room layout we had was great for a family.
Sadly though we would not recommend this hotel. In addition to a bit well needed TLC decoration wise, our biggest concern was how negelcted the cleaning was. The draws in the room where so dusty we could not use them, flooring in the bathroom was dusty, there was considerable mould in the shower. All 3 different tables we sat at for breakfast we saw food on the floor, the tables had not been cleaned, with cleaning also neglected in main areas such as reception, stairways and corridors. Food rating was 1 which was worrying from the start.

Lovely Building Overlooking the River

First time staying here and had a lovely large room. There was enough space for all the hiking gear and room to relax.
Bathroom was nice but unfortunately not water pressure or no hot water - it just trickled out of the shower and was even worst in the hand basin.
Breakfast was really tasty and we had a lovely relaxing visit. Would return if the water issue was rectified.

Budget hotel at very non-budget prices

We booked to stay at the Eagles for a wedding 5 mins down the road. After paying £150 for 1 night, I was expecting to arrive to something of a higher standard than we found. The whole hotel feels dated, and in need of a refurb, and our ‘Executive Suite’ (#17) was very basic. We didn’t spend a huge amount of time in the hotel, due to the wedding taking up most of our time, but for the price we paid, we were expecting something more luxurious. The bathroom was fairly nice, but then the shower was one of the weakest I’ve experienced. This felt quite apt for the hotel, as there were some good aspects, but outweighed by the negatives. The Eagles is perfectly adequate as a budget hotel (£60-75 p
) but I would definitely avoid at the price we paid. Breakfast was mediocre at best. With some investment, the hotel could be really lovely, as the rooms are very large and it has lots of period features, but the whole place feels like it desperately needs some TLC. The staff were friendly and helpful, so I wouldn’t have any criticism of them.

Great location, great looking building but a bit dated inside. Room was okay but bed wasn't very comfortable as it had a big sag in the matress plus could hear a fan humming away all night which was annoying. Room was really hot so had to have the window open which mean't the humming was louder.
On the positive side, good shower, good wifi and the food was excellent and good value.

We booked two rooms for two females, rooms 12 & 22, to find that we were put in room15 ( 2 way mirror in the bathroom ?) and the Flat which was unfit for use as a full priced room I didn’t even go in the supposed room as my alarm bells began to ring. The doors have no dead lock for security at night time. Also the food in the restaurant was nothing but frozen things from the store next door or so it looked and tasted. The drinks can be very suspect as well as water seems to have a strange film on it and was left untouched.
We discussed changing hotels but illness prevented us.
The beds in the room were tidy but not clean, hairs in the pillows, the bathroom had black mould around the bath and a dirty shower head. Not to mention the black hairs in the sink.

I could go on about the place but the main point is - SINGLE WOMEN STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL..
