The property is nice and well maintained. Definitely recommended if the only agenda you have is to be on the beach side and enjoy the resort. Won’t recommend if you wish to explore KOVALAM as it is slightly outskirts.

Pros:
1. Good private beach
2. Excellent ambience and amenities
3. Food is on the expensive side but justifies by taste and quality
4. The staff at the restaurant are very polite and helpful

Cons:
1. Slightly remote and so no Ola/uber serviceability
2. The cab service by the property is super expensive (Tip- The auto rickshaws stand outside the gate- if you wish to travel they would be a cheaper option. The hotel staff did not tell me this so slightly unhappy with that but hope this tip helps you folks.)
3. At the bar, you may only get Beer as hard liquor is not served

Wonderful hotel with a breathtaking view on the sea from our room and from almost all hotel facilities. The yoga class on the deck fronting the sea is great and is complimentary. We loved the hotel and the staff.
The food was amazing, we discovered through the days the cuisine of Kerala and loved it, I did the fish market activity with the check who then prepared the fish on the same evening, it was delicious !!!!
Chef Senthil is great and loves to please the guests with most tasty dishes. We enjoyed every dinner and didn’t look anywhere else, the variety of the menu made us choose a different set every dinner. Thank you so much
The rooms are charming with an wooden old Indian style (there are other rooms on the rock side with more brick and mortar style but still an Indian touch).
We will definitely come back, it was our best holidays ever

I wish they would off replied to my many emails about booking a spa session. Once I got there they were able to squeezed me into their schedule which I was very grateful for it. But I think they should off replied to my many emails and mention they are booked in many many months in advance.
My room was always warm, the AC was not working properly, they came to fix it but the next day was the same issue.

Food and service at the restaurant was amazing! Everything there was outstanding. Friendly staff, always greet you and the view is gorgeous- sunrise & sunset. Only 1 pool...wish they had more! Also maybe a daily night show...music or something like that!

Overall my time there was pleasant but for a 5 star resort they can work on more things!

Once again Niraamaya delivered with a great welcome and incredable holiday over the ONAM period . We are so delighted with the resort and the way the staff treat their guests that we already started to plan and reserve our room from the poolside of the resort for our third return within a year to this beautiful location loaded with many happy smiles all day long. The restaurant served great food however I was so impressed with the chef who often visited the guests and prepared dishes to personal taste. The staff at all the locations on the site were very professional and the spa treatments were some of the best we have received. Well done Niraamiya keep up the great work your hospitality is first class !

Avg hotel experience would be better i guess in comparison to this property. Very avg service, no buffet breakfast, no liverage for check out.. u have to pay ₹1000 for 1 hour.. in the name of luxury it is a big no.. where as hotel The Leela is far better from this place..it has a lovely ocean facing view, accomodating staff, variety in food, very friendly to early check in and late check out.. i guess the ratings of this resort are bought!!!!! I would give it a minus star if there were an option.

Don’t book a rock garden room!

It's a beautiful resort with it's own private beach...very nice and clean...just wish the beach was more easily accessible...too much of a climb down to get to the beach.

The resort property is spread out over a little hill with small cottage like accommodations spread throughout the property.

The hotel staff is very welcoming, courteous and helpful.

Excellent spa and retreat center !! Had the best ayurvedic full body massage.

Its nice that the resort has a buggy at your back & call to take you anywhere you want to go around the resort property...just wish the buggy could go down to the beach...especially important for handicapped people.

Its all about the Staff at this location

With this property its all about the staff. All over the hotel the staff were delighted to engage with the guests about their work and life in India. Food is top class with the main 2 restaurants offering a great choice of local Keralan cuisine.
Beach is really nice and quiet but beware the waves; as the beach shelves steeply they can catch you unawares. Wind direction can also bring some unsightly plastic flotsam onto the beach at times.
Outdoor bathrooms make for a really different experience and separation of rooms give great privacy.
Hotel tours are quite pricey for what you get but as they are organised on an individual basis are highly recommended as its not often you get one-to-one tour guides.
Spa, offers very good value for money but reception area doesn't give out a calming relaxed aura and needs to find a way to remove the business end from the spa.

A superb, tranquil escape

This hotel was stunning. Our welcome excellent, including the airport pickup (organised by email) We arrived early on an overnight flight and were accommodated with an early (free) bookin. All the rooms are individual traditional houses furnished to modern standards, although a little quirkily! The outside bathroom was a little surprising and took a little getting used to ( it has glass panels and blinds!)
Service was so attentive, from the restaurant boss down to the lady sweeping the lawns by hand!
Views were tremendous out to sea and down to the 200m beach below the hotel. The beach shelves steeply and the waves do tend to dump, so take care. The hotel does have a life guard on the beach though. A perfect infinity pool.
Catering superb. Complimentary breakfast ( a range of western and Indian cooking). All meals had in restaurant overlooking the sea with regular evening entertainment ( dancers or musicians) it is also possible to have Keralan cooking lessons.
There is a well equipped spa, which we didn't use, and also yoga lessons, which we did. Our yoga sessions took place on a platform above the cliffs: stunning.
This place was so tranquil, a long was from the hectic life outside the gates!

A Unique Hotel

A small quiet hotel with very personal service. Staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms vary i.e. We paid for a Heritage Classic' room as did our friends. Ours was tiny whereas their room was big and spacious. If you want to get away from it all the location is perfect. Spa is very good.

It was great. Beautiful surroundings. Just note, that the hotel allows kids, and there is no separate kids area- so they are in the general 'adults area'. Its great for a honeymoon. The hotel was received an award for best spa in india 2015 & 2016 which is great. Ideal for a honeymoon or even a short 6 day trip to get some sun.

This is a very special place, tranquil, clean and safe. But don't go expecting Western standards of luxury -- what you are paying for is an unrivalled position overlooking the Arabian Sea, the lush and well-kept grounds, authentic Keralan architecture, and a friendly staff. Do book one of the Heritage premium cottages as near to the sea as possible, and immerse yourself in this green paradise. A week-long stay taking advantage of the (rather expensive) Ayurvedic therapies would be an ideal way to unwind after a wider-ranging tour of India, or for a self-indulgent break. You have everything you need on-site, so you don't have to brave Trivandrum or Kovalam (neither worth it). The Indian dishes in the cafe are delicious and good value; the boutique has some nice things, well priced especially with the generous discount offered. Enjoy!

What a fabulous holiday. Wonderful accommodation overlooking the Arabian Sea. Staff could not be more accommodating, and the food is wonderful. The chef is first class. A great Ayurvedic Spa on site. If you're looking for somewhere to rest, relax, reflect, rejuvenate and be thoroughly spoilt, then this is the place.

Loved waking up each morning to the singing of the fisherman on the beach and going to sleep each night to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.

Opportunities to observe local crafts, including pottery from a national champion, seeing handbags made out of coconut palms, and having your fortune told by a parrot.

Without question, the best holiday I have ever had.

This hotel was anything but 5 star. The grounds and gardens are stunningly beautiful. Beyond that, this hotel fails at all things. The air conditioner in our room barely worked and then when it was \"fixed\" it made the room so cold it was like an ice box. The sheets and bed linens were always wet and soggy. The hotel staff constantly interrupted our meals, spoke marginal English, and didn't know how to make a martini.

Amazing setting with amazing views over beach

Wonderful secluded setting after the chaos of India so a fabulous place to unwind in peace. Bungalows with views over beach were ideal escape. Only criticisms would be that it would have been good to know you could t swim in the sea on the private beach for a lot of the year including now, the food was lovely but a bit limited if staying for a week and the Internet was not good. However the setting and tranquility made up for most of that

Oasis of Calm in India

Lovely setting at the Ocean, but high on the hillside of lush vegetation and well manicured walkways. Exceptionally quiet and serene, a relief from the hustle and noise of everyday India. Food was very good and the hospitality level is excellent. Various health routines are available but not necessary if you are not so inclined. After a long day of business meetings it was a terrific place to relax and recharge for the next day. Exceptionally solid fast wi-fi was a nice touch.

An idyllic spot by the Indian ocean. We loved our room and it's view of the sea. Generally staff were lovely and helpful. There was a wide range of food available giving it more of an international flavour which we hadn't expected. Having said that, there was plenty of choice in the Indian cuisine and some of the dishes were amazing. The only niggle was that some of the waiters were over eager to please which got a little wearing after a while. Would recommend.

We stayed at Niraamaya for a one week family holiday break. This was our first time trip to Kerala.
Staff was always friendly and helpful. The pool and ocean view is amazing. I especially enjoyed watching the hawks playfully hovering over the pool area on a daily basis. The beach is relatively clean but not easily accessible and closes at sunset. The sea is not suitable for swimming due to big waves and currents but can be fun if you the adventurous type. The quality of the food at the restaurant was excellent. I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday break. There is no much sightseeing to be done around the area though.

Our experience at Niraamya was pure bliss from beginning to end. The property is absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in the Rock Garden rooms and our jaws dropped when we opened the door. The staff was the nicest I have encountered in a long time. Anitha was especially helpful with anything we needed. We were able to book all types of tours through the hotel.

There was a great variety for breakfast--healthy, indian, western, etc. The restaurant staff was very nice as well. Lunch and Dinner options were also varied.

The pool and beach were exquisite. We did a number of treatments at the spa and had an amazing experience each time.

This was one of the best vacations we have had in a long time! Thank you Niraamaya!

Husband and I wanted a relaxing getaway and Niramaaya was just the place. The hotel has it's own private beach which is very clean and you almost have it to yourself. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is very nice and well maintained. We each had a massage treatment at the spa and were very pleased. The environment was peaceful and very beautiful and the massages were relaxing. Plan on eating at the hotel - there are two restaurants to choose from - as there isn't really anything else around. The menu has a nice mix of indian and international dishes. I did get slightly tired of them by the end but we stayed a full week. The cinnamon coffee was my favorite afternoon pick-me-up! Rooms are all individual villas which vary in size and proximity to the beach. All come with mosquito netting on the beds (which you'll need) but do allow them to fumigate the room as well - the product they use is natural and it really helps with the biting pests. We had both an inside and outside shower and the bathroom was very modern and spacious. Two lounge chairs and a hammock were outside for lazy afternoon reading. Overall the staff was very attentive and definitely aim to please. I'd highly recommend the hotel - we had a lovely experience.

Beautiful retreat hotel

This is a quiet relaxing hotel.The hotel rooms are in the form of separate traditional style timber bungalows with beautiful interiors located around the landscaped grounds, some of which overlook the Arabian Sea. The bedroom ensuite bathrooms are outside in a private courtyard with a lovely shower under the stars.An infinity pool overlooks the sea. Yoga and health treatments are offered although we did not try these.The staff are very helpful and the restaurant is excellent.they also provide free transfer to airport. The hotel is set up on a cliff top with rather a lot of steps down to beach which is lovely and clean, but the sea has quite large waves so swimming can be a challenge.

Beautiful retreat with private beach

we have just returned from the most fantastic holiday where myself and my husband experienced service, friendliness, helpfulness and tranquility of the highest standard, the staff could not do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable. we stayed for 14 nights and enjoyed spa treatments of the highest quality with prices matching the uk. The restaurants were lovely and the chef couldn't have been more accommodating, he introduced hisself to us on the second night and from then on ensured all our culinary needs were met to very high standard. the pool/beach attendants were also very helpful infact all of the staff were very nice especially jose in the restaurant. The private beach is down some steep steps but once down it is beautiful we spent a number of days where we were the only people on the beach other than the fisherman. The views from this retreat are breathtaking from the restaurant where you are served breakfast to the bar overlooking the Arabian sea. swimming in the sea can be a little hazardous but if you follow the beach attendance advice you should be ok. This retreat is a taxi or if your feeling adventurous tuk tuk ride from kovalam which costs around £5.00 they will take you and wait for a few hours and bring you back. The restaurants on kovalam beachfront are definately worth a visit fresh fish and seafood is served allday everyday and very reasonable priced. From £7.00-£25.00 would highly recommend this retreat. will definitely be returning next yr.

Beautiful, relaxing and intimate resort.

We visited for 4 days and wished we had stayed longer. Originally we had reservations as we have an energetic 10 yr old and Niraamaya is very much aimed at couples wanting to get away from it all. But with the great pool (much bigger than it looks on the pictures), gorgeous beaches down a flight of steps from the hotel and a constant supply of lime sodas/ soft drinks it worked well for all the family. And if you are looking for a bit more action, Kovalam is a short ride away. We always took an auto-rickshaw - both cheaper and more exciting than a taxi. The driver will even wait for you if you are only going for an hour or two e.g. for dinner (makes a nice change from hotel).

Bliss

Stayed here for ten days in late september. Found the hotel very peaceful. Rooms were lovely and staff were very friendly. Food was great but restaurant menu may get repetitive if you plan on eating there often.
