Our stay at the Dune Boutique Hotel was so peaceful and relaxing throughout our whole time there. Our room was cozy, clean, and tidy. The amenities of the pool, the towels, the complimentary bike rentals, the massage credit, and the close proximity to the beach were all excellent features. And the breakfast meals and other menu items were delicious and fresh.
The location in the Hotel Zone was near a handful of local restaurants and shops.
All the hotel and restaurant staff members we encountered were all extremely polite and helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible. In particular, the front desk staff Anthony and Abraham were very considerate as they offered prompt service and good local recommendations around Tulum. Also, the restaurant staff member Silvano was very patient and kind during our visits to the restaurant.
Another recommendation goes to the hotel Luk’ Ul Spa. Getting a massage with the ocean breeze in the background is an amazing experience. The kind ladies Mara and Gloria who did our couples massage did an amazing job. We felt refreshed during and after the massage.
We would consider staying here again in a future trip to Tulum!

This boutique hotel is a hidden gem in the heart of the hotel zone. Perfect romantic getaway or families or even for flying solo! The staff (especially Michelle, Cooper, Abraham, Carlos, and Silva) consistently went above expectations to make sure I felt cared for. I will be back!

The hospitality and customer service of this resort far exceeded my expectations as well as any other experience I’ve had while traveling internationally. The food and drinks are amazing and the inclusive breakfast is far from your basic continental breakfast…it’s very filling with multiple options. The staff are very attentive and on hand ready to assist 24/7! They even sent me off to the airport with coffee and a meal box upon my departure!

My only constructive comment is that with the property being a small, boutique structure, the plumbing and sewage system are very sensitive and by night 3, we had faint smells of sewage in our room. Not bad enough to report to the staff, yet noticeable.

What an incredible stay I had! It was absolutely so beautiful and so nice to come here. The property was phenomenally stunning. Alex was very attentive and helped me with everything I needed. He treated me like a priority anytime I asked for something. I felt at home here with the service I was given and the comfort of my room. I was traveling alone and never felt unsafe here. They offered yoga classes in the morning and the instructor was so great! Breakfast lunch and dinner on the beach with top notch food and service. Carlos, Silva, Juan, and Abraham all did such an amazing job at making me feel cared for and had everything I needed. I went to the spa, which was beautiful, and got a massage from Steffany. She did amazing and I felt born again after. I would definitely return here! It was worth every penny.

The views of the ocean were amazing and there are a ton of seating or laying options to relax and have a drink. The staff treated us like family and we felt at home there. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights before our stay in Tulum Centro.

Weeks before our stay I contacted the front desk to arrange airport transport. They were very helpful booking our private pick up from the airport.

Our check in was fast and easy, Alex, the front desk concierge handled everything well and perfectly. I had mentioned to the lovely concierge team that we were traveling to Tulum to celebrate our honeymoon. The staff decorated the room with balloons and rose peals. We found it to be a great surprise and such a kind gesture.
During our stay, Alex listened to our likes and dislike for food and gave great restaurant recommendations.

Our first night we arrived during dinner time, we decided to eat at the dune restaurant. Their food is truly sublime. The grilled octopus is a must try.

The location itself is two doors down from taboo, you will hear loud music but it is to be expected.

Dunes staff are very friendly, courteous and easy going. I really appreciated being treated like family at dune. Dune is a place I would highly recommend to my family at friends.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Dune!! The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The location of the hotel was perfect for our trip, with easy access to the Town via taxi or collectivo bus, and within walking distance to fantastic food and dancing spots in the Beach area :)

I want to highlight what made our stay truly amazing. Throughout our four-day stay, the entire hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Alex and Abraham were always available to answer our questions and provide recommendations, going the extra mile to ensure we had the right directions when calling a taxi. Anita took great care of our room, cleaning and tidying it with utmost attentiveness. I must also mention that Dune's food and drink menu offered a variety of options at reasonable prices, and everything we tried was yum! The restaurant/bar staff, including Carlos, Abraham, and Arturo, provided exceptional service throughout the day.

Although some reviews mentioned noise from a neighboring club, it did not bother us or affect our overall enjoyment. The only aspect we didn't love about it was the repetitive and outdated music selection.

I absolutely recommend Dune to anyone looking for a comfortable, fun, and worry-free beachfront escape. It's perfect for couples and also great for a trip with friends, especially if you're not seeking a party scene onsite.

We LOVED the Dune Hotel!! In fact we plan to come back again. We've even recommended it already to some of our friends. From the beginning to the end our trip we enjoyed all of it. The food was great, the massages we had were the BEST!! The staff were the nicest...The whole vibe of this hotel felt like home away from home.
We can't stop raving about the staff. Frank and Carlos who work in the restaurant were the best. The cocktails they recommended were amazing...even gave us a impromptu to Mezcal class. They were so attentive to all of our needs.

Everyday our room was cleaned and they even decorated our room when they found out it was my birthday. Be warned if you're not of fan of music don't stay here. If you want quiet look for another hotel. For us the music was never an issue. It starts up around 11am when the rest of the city comes alive and doesn't stop until 2 or 3 in the morning.

The only con I can say about this hotel is the plumbing which is not the hotels fault.

We booked the Sunrise master suite for my boyfriends 40th birthday and it was amazing! This is a 2 or 3-star AT BEST. If it was properly labeled as a 2 or 3-star, I would not have this complaint, as I would be understanding of some of these issues. But, as a 5-star, this is completely unacceptable.

When you check-in, there is only one person running the lobby and front desk. So if that person is working with a customer, there is no one else to greet guests, but as you'll see in my notes later, there is no one to answer any phones! Also, that person will be in jeans and sneakers and look like some random person on a couch with a laptop. It's all super strange. I waited 20 minutes to just get started on my check-in process.

- Hot tub didn't work. We tried to turn the heat on but the staff came and made us turn it back off.
- Toilet doesn’t flush well. Takes 5-10 times to completely flush.
- Wi-Fi doesn’t reliably reach the room. Goes in and out and it was unusable.
- AC would not get the room cold. This is a MUST in a hot Mexican environment.
- Only two thin cheap towels in the room and the front desk doesn’t answer the phone to get requests.
- No phone in the room so you have to use your cellphone and TRY to reach them.

This place is horrible. Don't stay here if you want to be at a nice resort.

The hotel’s modern vernacular architecture was immaculate with meticulous maintenance. The restaurant’s chef is a creative genius, and prepared some of the finest cuisine from breakfast to dinner, and every meal and snack in between. The entire staff including management were outstanding human beings. This hotel is within a few seconds walk to two large and outstanding beach clubs which I enjoyed. I’ll be booking this hotel again since it checked all the boxes for having a flawless vacation.

Dune is a hidden gem. To my surprise the hotel exceeded my expectations. Friendly and helpful staff especially at the restaurant. My reservation included complimentary breakfast, amazing farm to table quality, authenticity, and presentation! Bikes onsite to use free of charge. They had one paddle board that no one seemed to be using but we took advantage of the opportunity and took it out. Traveled alone with my 18 year old daughter and felt very safe as first time visitors in Tulum. The staff answered all of our questions and gave us direction when needed, they also accommodated our request for late checkout at 1pm. I got an excellent rate on Expedia and would stay at Dune again and again. No TV and no phone in room, those aren’t important to me because I spend most of my time exploring and sunbathing when on vacation. Tip: try calling or online to book hotel directly and you might get a better rate.

The food and Drinks are great and with a low cost, The staff , Roberto, Luis the young lady on the front desk the valet guy Jenny the cleaning lady all the waiters are nice and kind. The owner Emanuele is on site all the time. The beach and water was excellent we had great days. The breakfast ocean front its unbelievable, everything about it we love it. We came here for a relaxing honeymoon, but it was anything but relaxing. There is EDM music blasting 2 hotels down and it shakes through the room from 11am to 1am. The same beat, over and over. I read reviews before booking and saw some noise complaints, thinking oh they just want something to complain about... i wish I would have listened to them. We ended up leaving a few days early due to family emergency, but I think we would have left early anyway...

If you are down to jam to EDM and you don’t sleep until after 1 am anyway, then it is a cute hotel and has the Tulum/ boutique vibe. There are free bikes too!

Best service of any hotel I have ever stayed in. If you need anything at all (breakfast to go, private driver, COVID test), they got it covered! The hotel itself is spotless. Hotel was beautiful.
Was clean and pleasing to the eye.
Location was right in the thick of everything. Restaurants and clubs close by.
Beach was white sand and clear water.
Seagrass was minor during our visit.
Staff were all very nice and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious.

Cons:
LOUD MUSIC from Taboo Beach club down the beach. When i say the base was unbearable, it was like someone was pounding on my chest ALL. DAY. LONG! It starts around noon and doesnt let up until 2-3am. But you cannot hear the lyrics, just the base. NOT the relaxing vacation we had planned. The staff will tell you it's like that all down the beach road, but its not! I've stayed at many hotels father south and it's much quieter.
If you're young and don't care, then its a moot point. If you want to relax and sleep, then either ask to stay in the \"quiet\" rooms by the lobby or go to another hotel.
Traffic was bumper to bumper. Not the hotels fault but most likely a result of everyone traveling to Mexico and Tulum during the pandemic. But they do have bikes to use for free!

I loved the hotel but would not stay here again due to the music situation. Its so unfortunate because its an awesome hotel.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights. We stayed at the dune room for two nights and then the sunset suite for one night. The first night the AC shuts off in the middle of the night and the remote stops working. It was about 100 degrees in my room. I had to go to the front desk at 5am to have my remote re programmed. Night 2 it was ok but night three in the new room, the AC shuts off again and the remote needed to be reprogrammed at 6am this time. Seems like it happens a lot at Dune as even the security guard knows how to program the remote. Not sure why this hotel has not upgraded its old outdated air conditioning units but heard the same complaints from other visitors as well. However they were more fortunate as AC turned off during the day as opposed to the night. When I told the front desk about having to wake up at 5am for two nights to fix my AC, the fellow in charge Jorge took off 600 mxn from the hotel restaurant. So basically my total bill of three nights. $1700 was reduced by around $60 for having to endure the out dated air conditioners and waking up at 5am. Word of advice. If you don’t mind the heat dune is great but expect terrible and outdated AC units that needs a “work around” every time it shuts off. Pray it doesn’t happen in the middle of the night like it did with me.

The property was absolutely beautiful with its own private beach. I loved all of the attention to detail with their choice of decor for the hotel. Everything was clean and well-maintained in the rooms and common areas. Above all, the staff made the stay here even better than we could have imagined. All of the staff members we encountered were nothing but polite and helpful. For instance, we were staying here for my girlfriend's birthday and the staff went above and beyond by decorating the room in birthday decor. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would love to come back someday.

Cannot say enough about the staff and the beauty of Dune , I was greeted with a smile and amazingly over the top service . Beach was perfectly quite , calm , clean , and comfortable in every sense . The restaurant was cozy , food delicious , and drinks tasty . A must for lovers

I recommend this place. Its a little piece of paradise. It was a fantastic experience was fantastic. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The service is first class from the front desk to the housekeeping. We will definitely return to this location.

We stayed one evening in the Hotel and we're told to leave the Hotel the first day we were their due to a storm. No refund from Orbitz and no response from the Hotel. This has been going on for months. We checked in on time and we were forced to leave.

Excellent boutique hotel

Unbelievable place. Extremely helpful staff, delicious food and drinks in a very intimate restaurant which isn't overdone, and the small private beach is the best on the beach. There are places in the trees for shade and you can go towards the front if you want all sun. The rooms are a bit small but who cares with a property like this. The pool adds to the vibe. Also, the price is extremely reasonable on a relative basis. Will definitely go back.

Small eco hotel located steps away from Tabu and Tantra, which are some of the most popular hang out spots. The hotel itself is very simple, small beach area and honestly the pool is not that welcoming just because of the way this is set up but with such a beautiful beach who wants to go in the pool?

Truly amazing from the front desk reception(Claudia)and their recommendations . The manager Lalo went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. All the workers in the restaurant(Carlos,Silvano) were so gracious and welcoming. I highly recommend and will be returning. The food was fantastic and our room was beautiful.

Everyone that worked there was so sweet and helpful. Great service, clean beach, clean rooms, pool, air condition rooms. It was great! Local/walking distance to all the shops and restaurants we wanted to go too. Have bikes you can use to go any where further! Was over all amazing!

I loved my stay at Dune. The staff was kind and welcoming, always helpful and patient. Lalu, Carlos, and a few others whose names I don’t recall 😅😅 gave us excellent service throughout our stay. I even forgot my earrings and Lalu was kind enough to find them and mail them back to me in CA.
Dune is located right in the beach and it was wonderful to wake up in the morning and head directly to the beach to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. The food was healthy and delicious!! Fruit, yogurt, and the Dune omelette were my favorites. The staff always greeted us and made us feel so welcomed.
There are other hotels nearby if you want to go dancing or hear loud music, but it was perfect for me to relax and stay where it was quiet, clean, and so comfortable. You could just walk down the beach and you’d be at the loud hotel and then return to Dune to sleep. Best of both worlds. Also, we were two women traveling alone and we felt very safe throughout our trip.
Lastly, precautions were taken for covid that made me feel safe. The staff wore masks constantly. They were helpful in providing advice on how to obtain tests. I overheard them say that someone could come to the hotel to test you. The rooms were sparkling clean and the restaurant is on the beach and open to the air.
I can’t recommend Dune enough!!

Great Boutique Hotel!

My husband and I stayed in the Sunrise Master Suite and omg...what a beautiful treat. Perfect for a romantic getaway! Service was great, all staff is super sweet and attentive. Love that it’s a small hotel and it wasn’t as packed as the rest of the hotel zone. Breakfast was good but the natural juices were delicious! This place is a bit far from most “main” locations but next to taboo which is a total vibe! Convenient store with food and alcohol/beers right in front. Best way to communicate is via WhatsApp which can be found through their Instagram!

Best location on Hotel Strip in my opinion

Dune Boutique is next to a convenient store, pharmacy, and a Moped/ATV rental store. Taboo Restaurant is directly next door, and its about a 15 minute walk to the other locations on the strip.

The service was great! The staff was helpful and very attentive. I would DEFINITELY stay there again without hesitation. I stayed for 4 days and no complaints. The rooms have A/C and the early morning view on the beach is a must see - very calming and peaceful!!!

Great stay at this hotel. It is a lot smaller than others but very affordable for the location. The rooms are nothing too special but the balcony is nice and they have a great beach set up. The pool is pretty small but not really needed with the hotel located right on the beach. The service was very good overall. Breakfast is included with the stay but only a couple egg dishes (even though the other items on the menu were cheaper than what they said was included - doesn’t make much sense but it is what it is). I also wouldn’t recommend using the bikes as they are pretty beat up. My handle bars came loose when I was riding and I had to walk about a mile back to the hotel. Overall, good value and a nice 15 minute walk from the good restaurants.

Overall this was a great stay. Some things were outstanding, others were not as good, but on average, I would rate this place a 4/5 or 8.5 out of 10. Rooms 1, 2 and 3 are in an interesting location. They had no view, as you look at a courtyard with limited light, and lacked privacy (next to main walkway), but the plus side was that they were super close to the lobby, were more quiet (no noise from Taboo beach club down the road) and had good Wifi. Service overall was outstanding (5 star). Lalo, Miriam and Francisco were amazing. The breakfast situation was confusing... Breakfast was included, but only certain items were complimentary without any reason. Example - an omelette was included for free, but pancakes were not. Juevos Rancheros were free, but Chilequiles were not. There was no logic in this. Either make the whole thing included, or give people an allowance (say 300 MX) and let them order what they want. I don't really love eggs, so it was an annoyance that I had to pay extra for something I liked each day. However, overall this was a great stay. I also had zero COVID concerns staying here. Housekeeping was excellent and everything was spotlessly clean.

I really love my stay at Dune boutique hotel, the location was great and easy to find. The room was really nice, but what made my stay more pleasant was the staff. Everyone was so welcoming. Carlos, Francisco and Armando by the beach restaurant excellent services. At the front desk Miriam, rocio super nice and always looking for ways to better serve us. Vicky was in charge of making our room everyday and she did a great job. Can’t wait to go back to tulum and for sure I’ll be staying at Dune again.

Perfect location . The staff were friendly and accommodating especially during threat of a hurricane . Beachfront location was amazing and the decor reminded me of Bali. Having bicycles available everyday was clutch because everything was close enough distance for a bike ride .

Pros:
Beautiful hotel. The pictures do no justice. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. Definitely a bohemian, hippy vibe. The staff is so nice and willing to do anything for you. We also received a free upgrade on our last night.

BIKES BIKES BIKES! So having access to a bike is Huge on Tulum beach. This hotel offers FREE bikes on a first-come, first-serve basis. Trust me, it’s a two way street but cars are respectful and won’t try to pass you unless there are no other cars coming.

Breakfast is included for FREE! You have a choice of juice and coffee, a fruit bowl and an egg dish (scrambled, sunny side up, etc.). This breakfast is served in their beach side restaurant. Lunch and drinks are also offered there if you’d like to spend the day at the beach. Carlos is the best waiter to have.

Location is everything! You are at THE BEST SPOT location wise. When walking out the hotel, if you turn left, you have all the restaurants everyone speaks about with prices ranging from $-$$$$. Do your research. For those looking to go to Taboo, it literally right next door but don’t be afraid to go to the other places. A general tip: the beach side has the more expensive restaurants, while the other side of the street has the cheaper places.
-Also there is a convenience store right in front for all your last minute needs.

Con:
The only con about this hotel is how hard their bed is BUT, you didn’t go on vacation to lay in bed so for me it was totally with the sacrafice
