Rolling sliding bins!

Everything was fine, but we were in room 133 and below us was the constant rolling and sliding of what sounded like bins, went on until after midnight. Kept waking up with the noise.

The hotel room was quite comfortable. It was very easy to get an Uber or taxi to and from the hotel. There were very nice restaurants nearby and I even found a Pilates class at a hotel nearby along with a spa with a sauna, steam room, nail, and massage services. For massages at the Capital Empire you can ask in advance and they will have someone come to the massage rooms. The in-room a/c worked very well and the wifi was great for personal and business use.

I do want to note that the pool is right next to the restaurant and bar, more exposed than what I'm used to, the standard room does not come with a tub (photos are misleading), and while the rooms are soundproof, you can still hear street noise if you're on the side facing the street. The water pressure was fine, but just on the lower side. The food at the hotel was good overall, but the pizza left more to be desired. Also, the gym does not have a treadmill.

I did enjoy my stay overall. I chose this hotel because a friend that I was visiting was staying there.

Decent Place to stay in the heart of Sandton

overall, great stay. The staff are amazing and very helpful, willing to go the extra mile to make your stay memorable, that's what I like the more I believe.

The room was decent but it could definitely use a little finesse and extra attention. Some of the furniture in the room I was in could use an update. Also, whenever taking a shower, water would go out through the bottom, in the bathroom... I couldn't understand.

Breakfast was great, decent with a large selection, I enjoyed it.

I would probably go back again, but perhaps choose a different type of room to compare with what I had.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and the room setup is great. However we consistently had problems with water not being hot and the bathrooms have signs of wear and tear. The biggest problem was the noise level. There was a party on one night and church on another. I think it would be great if they warned guests in advance. There was also no concierge when we arrived and had to move our own luggage.

The phone CPU was down which meant that I couldn’t phone house keeping or order in. The next day I was told that it would be repaired but it wasn’t. Otherwise the stay was okay. The security staff stopped my baggage at the front door and wouldn’t let my nanny and the children go ahead whilst I settled the bill.

The staff at this property went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. I did not want to leave ! They are kind, helpful and make you feel like one of the family. I would come back to this hotel in a heartbeat, and I will be recommending it to everyone I know who is headed to Johannesburg. The hotel staff is among my opinion some of the best in the world! They always greet you with a smile and could not wait to help with any requests. Also, my compliments to the chef who prepared 5-star meals every evening at dinner!! My only regret is not staying longer!

The major point I have really disliked is the loud music all the time. Techno and dance music 24 hours a day.

Very okay. My concern was that the hotel served only continental foods. I found it funny to be in Africa and be limited to European dishes only. Big hotels in Nigeria where I come from will offer you both local and continental dishes; Capital Empire need to borrow a leaf from that.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 nights. Very good location, walking distance to Mandela Square. Beautiful well furnished fully equipped apartment. Excellent service. The staff, the front desk personnel all very efficient and helpful. The shuttle service to different points is extremely convenient. I would highly recommend it for a very comfortable stay in Johannesburg.

First Impression is that hotel looks like a very nicely designed prison. Grey everywhere and ugly inner courtyard does very little for overall perception. But once inside the room, it's decent, clean and well put together. Comfortable bed. But service is poor. I had to ask for room cleaning after first night. And no I did not put up a do not disturb sign. Very poor effort. Breakfast was OK. Good for single business traveler. Not for families. Needs plants and greenery.

My third time stay

I must something this time. Maybe it will help change for the better. At breakfast the staff are by the entrance talking amongst themselves like they are at home, loud laughter and singing. While we all have different views of what we expect when eating a meal but for me and my colleagues we like a bit of a quiet time in the morning. This time was very unnerving and I really didn't enjoy it. I hope changes can be made because this location is very convenient to Sandton city mall and train station.

Avoid if possible

At first glance it seems fine, but walk barefoot through the room and you will see it's not clean. I saw a roach in my room the second night. Gross. They don't refill anything you use which stinks. So, if you are staying 3 nights and by day two have used the coffee or shampoo - expect to go without as the cleaning staff does not restock (or clean very well) or you could always go down and ask the staff who will seem incredibly put off by your request- you might even get a smug eye roll like I did. Also, the bed in my room had staples poking out of the side which I cut myself twice on before bending them downward. Glad I had a tetanus shot recently.
The \"concierge\" is a waste of time to ask for help - he will only schedule things that use his friend in the black Mercedes' tour company - which are priced about 3 times higher, have no literature on the tours themselves and he doesn't appear to be licensed (no tour badge like all are supposed to have.) It's shady at best. I would never stay there again if I had the option. I don't see the point in paying that much for a dirty room and lousy service- go elsewhere if you can.

Nice and Clean Hotel

I just needed a room for one night upon my arrival in Joburg South Africa and booked this right before departing the U.S. on a 16 hour flight. I was very pleased to arrive at this hotel after such a long flight. Was able to relax after such a long flight. Breakfast was great as well. I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Joburg-Sandton area.

Location is great, everything else, not so much.

The staff definitely needs some extensive professionalism training and support. Additionally, there is really no soundproofing in the rooms so you can clearly hear conversations of those around you. The location in Sandton is great and very near the train station, however, there is not much else that can be highlighted about this hotel.

Check in was super efficient and the room as very clean on arriva. On second day however, it took forever for housekeeping to clean our room. They didn't get it to until late afternoon and didn't tidy up too well.

We had a mix up on checkin but staff fixed it quickly
The area was too quiet and staff failed to give us warnings of walking at night
We asked about an attraction and staff told us it would be open so we wasted and hour worth of travel to find it closed
But the hotel was lovely rooms were lovely but we expected a 3 room apartment not 3 rooms that can open up together

A good hotel near Sandton train station

Hotel is located in Sandton near a shopping mall. There is regular train service from airport to Sandton and the journey will less than 20 minutes. Can walk from hotel to train station within 10 minutes. Hotel staff are friendly and breakfast is good.

lobby is too small and it is not possible to meet people there over a cup of coffee.

Overall experience could have been good but was woken up by security 2 nights in row over \"claims \" that they had come to \"fix\" something! This was at 1:00 in the morning! I complained after first night but it still happened again the next day!

A decent hotel but it was very noisy - from the main Rivonia Rd, to the building works across the road, to the staff banging doors when constantly going into the store area next to the room. It seemed as if they were congregating in there with little regard to their guests comfort.

Decent hotel excellent for shopping

This is a comfortable hotel, excellent for shopping at Sandton City. The room my mother and I shared was large and well layed-out. My only complaint was the absence of a comfortable chair in this large room to watch TV or just relax. Something that puzzled and irritated us was the fact that during the 2 evenings we had dinner at the hotel restaurant, the staff was scrubbing the floor, close to us, with ammonia. The second evening we asked them to stop this scrubbing - they continued, but at least further away from where we were eating. Another strange thing was that this hotel's \"business center\" consisted of some sofas and newspapers to read, but without a single computer for public use. I have never before encountered a hotel business center without a single computer. The staff was friendly and consistently helpful.

Easy walk to sandton shopping mall

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment with an eight month old baby. It was perfect for us. The staff were very helpful in the dinning room and the room cleaner. The desk staff were under pressure most of the time maybe another pair of hands needed there. The rooms were spotless and very spacious. We were very comfortable and we will certainly be back.
