Everything was perfect. The pool is spectacular. The gardens beautiful and tranquil. Cannot fault this retreat. Folk that stay at these places 1. Please be mindful that folk who book into \"retreats\" don't want to hear your voice 2. Don't want to see or hear your children. 3. Indeed not suitable for children as there are monsters and wolves and other creatures that will steal them away in the night.

When we went to empty the bath the floor flooded, because of a blockage and we had to moved to another chalet that was inconvenient. Once we moved we did not hear another word from the host to check on us, which seemed odd.

This place is amazing. The spot is secluded, quiet and serene. The ONLY thing I would want people to know is it is about 7-8 minutes from the nearest restaurant. There are bbq facilities but if you’re looking to walk to dinner this is not the place. If you’re looking for a quiet breathtaking experience around every corner of the unit and grounds, this is your place.

What a fabulous stay. Beautiful gardens and surrounds, fabulous pool and quaint room with fabulous bathroom and spa. Rom included some plates, cutlery and glasses so could also use the outdoor (clean and provided paper towels, utensils and olive oil spray) BBQ for great meals. Also some dishwashing gear provided. lovely little bubbles and small cheese platter provided in the mini fridge. Highly recommend and visit the Moorooroo cellar door tasting right next door.

Magical Retreat in Barossa

This is one of those places where you count your lucky stars that you booked there. If you like outdoor spaces that are nicely landscaped with the feel of being on an estate, this is the place. The rooms were as can be seen in the photos. Our king room was nicely appointed, and had refrigerator and welcome items. The pool area with a canopied bbq area adjacent to it was divine. There is a common area building with sofas just behind a huge lawn (for lawn bowling). Five minutes from Jacobs Creek wines (and recommend the dinner there). For us, this place was magical.

The property has a nice assortment of accommodation suites. The character of the rooms and grounds is charming and offers a refreshing change to other accommodation options. The position of the property positions it a close drive to Tanunda that offers a variety of dining options. The garden and grounds are excellent and well curated blending well with the old and new builings on the grounds. Well worth a stay.

This was a very nice getaway that allowed for an overnight stay in the Barossa. The historic and well restored grounds provide several private accommodation options, all with great character but still with enough modern amenities to make it a comfortable stay. The grounds are beautiful, and there is a pool and bbq area. The only issue may be the lack of dining options on site, but there are plenty of those in the Barossa and surrounds a short drive away. Unfortunately our schedule didn’t allow to sample the winery right next door – next time. There is no on-site reception but an envelope left for us provided all of the information we needed to get access and enjoy our stay, and a contact number is provided should any issues arise. Definitely not a family option, but for couples it is perfect and recommended.

Breathtakingly beautiful. The grounds were superbly manicured, peaceful and calming. We stayed in the loft apartment, which was very charming and spacious. It was so nice to be able to sleep in as the upstairs bedroom seemed to be soundproof and dark. The bed and pillows were so soft and comfortable. We booked very last minute for 2nights, and the day before were given a free upgrade from our suite to the loft suite. Very clean, amazing double shower and bath and the pool was awesome! Perfect for a post Christmas getaway.

Only two very small things I would suggest, we didn’t have a dish cloth to do dishes with, and also only 5 tea bags of different flavours, no regular tea.

Jerry was amazing and very helpful when we checked in, and also prior with the upgrade and our questions about the property itself.

A beautiful location close to many amazing wineries... will definitely be back!

The facility was fully booked and we only saw two other couples whilst walking around the gardens and at some distance so the privacy is amazing.

Don't waste your money!! We were looking forward to staying as the photos looked great. It was hard to find our accom, no one to meet us. Our 'cottage' was grim and tired. Cobwebs inside and out, leaves piled up under the courtyard door. Couldn't lock bedroom window, so wasn't secure. Pool was a slimy pond and when I called, was advised it had just been cleaned...3rd day was still a pond. A bright green (smoke detector?) light in the bedroom ceiling stayed on all night. Didn't clean our room on the 2nd day, said they lost the spare key...that meant they didn't have to clean until we left on the 3rd day. We paid over $400 a night! I have tried to make contact but no one is responding to my emails to their reservation site. This was a surprise stay for my husband who is a swimmer and was needing a few days break, very disappointing.

My wife and I we’re extremely disappointed to arrive to Jacobs creek retreat to find the pool green and out of action... no notification prior to coming to the retreat to advise us it was out of action whatsoever. Furthermore I phoned the owner to discuss my disappointment for her to only be defensive and say it was out of her control and it is what it is... I asked how long it had been green for and she said two weeks which was even before we booked the nights stay, also asked why she or someone could not have emailed or phoned us prior to arriving to let us know about the main facility not being able to be used and sage replied “ if I did this then people may not stay”! EXACTLY I thought! This night stay was for our wedding anniversary to relax for the afternoon poolside as we have done here the previous 4 times we have stayed here so thought would do the same for our anniversary. Unfortunately not the case. I have emailed the owner outlining my disappointment and requesting for some sort of compensation which I feel
I shouldn’t have to ask for and should have been offered to me already. Has been 5 days and no reply... won’t be staying here again! The staff in site were more then sorry about it
all but there was nothing they could do as they did not own the retreat but agreed with us that compensation should be given and we should have been told! Funnily enough the morning we left there were new signs placed on the pool gate saying out of action... not impressed

Wonderful garden, well maintained, but no one at the reception and no or no reliable WIFI. The manager obviously does not understand that professionals who can afford the price of a stay there need a no fuss reliable fast Internet access to relax. Failing that, the stay is messed up by the impossibility to do the daily work that needs to be done quickly and efficiently. We we're not the only stressed guests. But the wild life and the vineyards all around make it a great place with a had been better feel.

When we arrived we couldn’t find where to go, nobody was in the property and had to go around in circles for a while until frustrated we had to look for the phone number. We didn’t receive an email or any communication about what we should do upon arrival, this would have avoided the situation described above. Once this was sorted out, the loft was in good condition and very clean, we had a good stay. The breakfast was also lovely and the staff very friendly.

Check-in was a challenge. No one was around at \"check-in\" time. Took 20 mins to understand the paperwork, etc was in the mailbox. Enjoyed our room, the experience grew positively on us. Staff person \"Damien\" was outstanding as the chef and all-around representative for the facility. Damien provided many good tips, etc on the Barossa and surrounding areas. Thank you Damien!

Overall, room was nice, grounds very pleasant/peaceful. Eating facility, \"The Pavilion\" was comfortable, and a nice place to start the day in the Barossa.

Overall the rooms where clean and tidy and the surrounded lands where beautiful, but every night there was a heap of millipedes on the floors, it would have been handy to have a broom or something to be able to sweep them up instead of trying to avoid standing on them and squashing them under feet.
None of the Power points in the bedroom worked.

Like some of the other reviewers we were bewildered how to get into the place and we needed to make a phone call at the big iron gates to get the code to open the gates. This would have been a disaster if we didn't have a phone with us but as it was we were promptly attended to on the phone (a pay as you go phone so it cost us to call) and guided into the property. The so called 'reception' is set right up the back of the property through the botanical gardens so its a completely confusing situation but fortunately as soon as we were out of the car we were greeted by on site staff and made to feel very comfortable. They said they upgraded our room to the room next door which they did need to do anyway as the shower was over a huge sunken spa bath which is completely ridiculous if you are in your 60's! The grounds of this property are amazingly beautiful, manicured and fastidiously maintained. Fountains, topiaries, stone steps, raked fine gravel 'piazzas', rose gardens, soaring eucalypts, statues - its a lost world of absolute gorgeousness! The pool is the most beautiful pool I have ever seen anywhere and despite the crisp cool day I took a swim and found it to be an amazing experience - its a very deep pool with easy steps into it. The pool would benefit from a balustrade at the steps to aid a safe entry and exit. The room was tastefully furnished with a comfortable bed. Breakfast delicious. Cook was so friendly. External electrical wiring does not appear to be to code.

Shabby but most definitely not chic!

Check in disaster.....nobody there at first so we're left feeling stranded! Then we did get our keys and shown to our 'chalet type room'. It was unusual but very dark and gloomy. Bathroom was big and bath uncomfortable due to horrible jet pods. The whole garden had an air of neglect about it...weeds in beautiful old urns and a shabby appearance generally. Certainly not shabby chic! Spent a little time by pool only one sunbed....sat on giant beanbags. Pool was OK but not the poolside area which looked uncared for. In fact I felt that the place was running down deliberately and not at all surprised that it was pretty empty of guests. Breakfast was ok with polite service.

With the name Jacobs creek you would expect excellence and sadly that’s not what we received. The furnishings and venue it’s self is superb but they have let attention to detail slide. The floors were untidy, millipedes everywhere and cobwebs in all lights fixtures, lamps and corners. The lock on our bedroom door was broken so we had no way of securing our room while we went out for the evening. Very disappointing for the price.

Perfect retreat. A really characterful place, in terms of the the architecture, landscaping, and interior of the delightful little 2-storied cottage we stayed in. Fine breakfast.

Peaceful with lovely grounds.

We had trouble finding the place and then we had trouble finding someone to welcome us and sign us in etc. The room was smaller than I thought it would be and the shower over the spa tub was a bit of a challenge. Everything else was lovely. The breakfast was beautiful and delightfully presented.
