We had a lovely one night stay. The staff was very kind and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the view is the kind they put on postcards. The rooms aren’t the height of modernity, but considering the history of the place I think that would have been jarring. Definitely a fun place to come with kids!

This weekend, my wife, my son, and I visited Three Valley Lake Chateau. It was their first visit and my first time back in over 30 years. As a child, I attended Bell family reunions here in the late 1980s and early 1990s, so returning was both nostalgic and meaningful. As a descendant of the Bell family, I believe founder Gordon Bell was my 3rd or 4th cousin, making this place part of my family’s history.

What impressed us most was how much the property has grown. Surrounded by stunning mountain scenery and the crystal-clear waters of Three Valley Lake, the setting is breathtaking. But the real attraction is the endless exploration.

Between the Heritage Ghost Town, historic buildings, antique collections, trains, vintage vehicles, museums, and countless hidden treasures, there are hours of things to see and do. Every time we thought we’d seen it all, we discovered something new.

We especially loved the quirky charm created by decades of expansion and remodeling. Former outdoor motel walkways have been enclosed and transformed into unique interior corridors, creating a whimsical, maze-like atmosphere full of surprises and character.

Watching my wife and son discover it for the first time reminded me just how special this place is. Three Valley Lake Chateau isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience. If you enjoy history, unique attractions, and places with genuine personality, this is a must-visit destination. Highly recommended.

Loved the ghost town, and found the building itself intetesting. As a kid i would have loved all the different passage ways.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Gardens need some TLC, but can certainly see potential, it was early in the season as well.
Room was clean, though there were many items that were not well maintained, the screen door to the balcony had no handle, and the door itself could use some lubricant.
Be prepared for quite a lot of traffic noise as the highway is right out front. Middle of the night it is not too bad, i wore earplugs.
Food was OK, diner style, maybe a bit pricey for what you get.
Very poor tv quality, tried to watch the hockey game and it was so blurry it was hard on the eyes.
I understand it is a family run hotel, and that they are seasonal, but starlink is now available, should have better TV, and internet access.
It was cool at night so leaving the window opened made it comfortable, not sure what it would be like in mid july with no AC
Overall, happy we visited, stayed two nights, 1 is likely enough.

If you have small children that love the pool, bring a life jacket or floating arms. We didn’t and our daughter loves water but because its so deep at the start she couldn’t enjoy it.
Don’t underestimate the restaurant either, the food is amazing and portions are a perfect size. No waste on my plate and even had home made pie!!!

The property itself and the views were beautiful, and we truly enjoyed that part of our stay. However, the overall guest experience was disappointing due to the attitude and lack of accommodation from the staff.

One incident that particularly stood out was when our group of four families was having breakfast in the lunch room area. Since there were multiple young children with us, a few dry cracker crumbs ended up on the carpet. We made every effort to clean up after ourselves, but some crumbs remained in the carpet fibres. When a staff member came by to empty the garbage, we politely acknowledged the situation and apologized, explaining that we had tried our best to clean everything. Unfortunately, the staff member’s response and tone came across as condescending and unwelcoming, which made us feel uncomfortable and judged rather than understood.

There were also several inconveniences that affected our stay:

* No change room available near the pool area
* No microwave provided in the room, which was especially difficult while travelling with newborns and small children
* Despite requesting nearby rooms for our four families at check-in, the staff did not accommodate the request, even though the adjacent rooms appeared to remain vacant during our stay

Overall, while the location and scenery were excellent, the hospitality and guest service did not meet expectations.

This is one of my favorite places to visit. The views are gorgeous. The ghost town took me hours to see everything cause there is so much there. The staff were all super friendly. There are many little birds flying around the gardens which is fun to watch from the rooms balcony. I food at the restaurant was good. The whole experience was very relaxing.

Fantastic scenery! It is an older hotel, but the rooms were clean. Revelstoke is only 15 mins away if you want something different to eat than the hotel restaurant's offerings. In summer the rooms get hot, and there's no AC.

Very run down rooms/old building. If it were anywhere else I would have left immediately. Unclean. Waited 2 hours for small town diner level food. Room was dirty and had multiple spiders in it since balcony door left open. Smelt musty throughout building with stained floors and walls. No a/c which we knew, but poor ventilation made it worse. Furniture exceptionally old and not in a vintage way. Only redeeming quality was the main entrance and museum. Stunning location. Wouldn’t stay ever again.

The hotel and our room had an absolutely stunning view of the lake and the mountains. It is really one of the most beautiful pieces of scenery one can see. The balcony was a lovely place to sit and just simply look out. It made for a very tranquil morning coffee.

The hotel itself is generally very well-maintained, but there are several areas that are showing definite signs of aging. The paint on parts of our balcony was flaking away and looked very splintery. I felt the need to be cautious around it when maneuvering around. This looked to be consistent across the entirety of the property.

The TV in our room seemed to have continuous trouble connecting to channels and the picture quality was always a bit blurred. The entryway to the elevator by the indoor gardens had quite a few spiders that had taken over a significant area of the doorway and throughout the property there were a few lights in the hallways that were burned out or dimmed.

While none of these things are anything I would consider major issues that would stop me from returning, they all do contribute to a feeling of the property being a bit \"run down\".

The staff were excellent and took pleasure in helping. I can only say nice things about them.

The room was comfortable and was well-laid out. The room and linens were clean and nothing was out of place.

I am satisfied with my stay and I will absolutely come back, but I think the property could use a bit of love and care to really make it outstanding.

Be Prepared – the Walls Are Extremely Thin

We stayed for two nights and, unfortunately, both nights we were placed next to young families. This led to two main issues:

Noise Levels – Parents should be mindful and teach their children appropriate behavior, especially in shared spaces like hotels. Excessive noise early in the morning (5:30 am) made it difficult to relax or sleep.

Outdated Facilities – The hotel is in serious need of renovations. The rooms feel stuck in the 1950s, and for a rate of $200 per night, guests should expect a more modern, comfortable, and soundproof environment.

Overall, the stay was not as restful as it should have been.

This property is in a very beautiful location surrounded by mountains and a lake in front. Property is very clean. Has a great little ghost town attached which is worth the exploration of history. Be prepared to unplug as the hotel does not have wifi in the rooms and the TV reception is poor. Very remote about 15 min to Revelstoke.

Was excited to stay at this historic site. But be aware, room walls are not insulated so you hear your neighbors. Kids are lovely but parents should be reminded to not allow yelling, screaming and jumping at 5:30 am onward. Seriously you hear EVERYTHING. Even people having a discussion can be heard. Lots to see around the property, ghost town is super cool, even for adults. Amazing collection of things and the buildings. Would love to stay again but likely won’t. $200 a night to be woken at 5:30 am and not have the room restocked with coffee or fresh towels each day is a big turn off

Staff was very friendly on check in and checkout and anytime i ran into them in the hotel. Room while a little dated was very clean and had everything i needed. Didn't notice the lack of ac as the provided fan was moremthan adequate. The only downside to my stay was that the people in rooms above me were very loud and i was near the stairs and could hear people clomping up and down them.

We had picked this place based on other people’s online reviews so we were a wee bit surprised when we pulled up and then went to the room. Who knows - maybe the reviews were fake. The place has definitely seen better days - I felt we were on a set from the 1980s with the indoor plant room, the Neighbourhood watch stickers on the patio doors, and the lonely microwave in the activity area. We thought about going swimming but the pool is a large bathtub with a strange homage painted on the walls to the titanic, and the beach is not really welcoming. From the outside, we can tell many of the rooms have been decommissioned because of damaged window coverings and weed infested patios. The front desk clerk was friendly, but there’s no air conditioning so in the summer beware. There were five tv channels but three didn’t work and no wifi in the rooms. Spend the money and stay in Revelstoke as unfortunately this place is decades past its glory days. Revelstoke is lovely and cute with lots of fun and good places to eat plus the museum to keep you busy.
