Only downer is a 100 euro \"climate crisis tax\" slapped on your bill at the end.
If you're going to obligatorily add 100 euros to a bill. You should say this at the time of booking. When do we draw the line on this?
A \"water crisis tax\" of 20,000 euros slapped on a check out bill?
I realise it's not all their fault. But more could be done.

Laid back luxury. Fantastic hotel, one of the best we’ve been to. Went for baby moon. Place is quiet, full of families with very well behaved children, teen children, and couples looking for a relaxing time. All amenities are great - likely recently renovated. Food was delicious, didn’t feel the need to leave the hotel for 7 days. Sun loungers are high quality and comfortable. Room is spacious. The staff is on another level of professionalism. Shout out to Simos - professional, kind, going above and beyond day after day. Very impressed. From the waiters, cleaning staff, reception stuff - everyone was absolutely great. Room exactly as advertised. Will absolutely return.

Fabulous property and location. The most beautiful place to relax and unwind. Loved that the sea was 20 steps from my bungalow, with a terrace to sit out on in the evenings. The staff were excellent, warm and helpful at all times, especially in catering for my coeliac food requirements

You feel wrapped in a peaceful cocoon the minute you walk in the door. Maria and the customer service team are super lovely and helpful. We stayed in a superior waterfront bunglow which was thoughtfully designed and offered lovely local products in the bathroom. The trick is to get one with a view out to the ocean and then it’s just blue as far as the eye can see. Would thoroughly recommend the wine tasting and food from the excellent team at Terpsis

The entire staff was AMAZING! Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. We had issues with our ferry being cancelled but the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful to make sure we were taken care of and had an extra night. I highly recommend this hotel. It’s close distance to the city with all the restaurants. We loved our stay and are happy to spend our honeymoon at Minos!

The hotel grounds are beautifully designed and the staff were very friendly. The housekeeping was fantastic and very helpful. A few things to take into consideration when booking the Annex water front bungalows. The description for these bungalows does not accurately reflect the reality. They are very outdated and there is no privacy as it is separated from the hotel by an area of land that has a mobile trailer on it and what appeared to be someone' residence. The annex bungalows are right next to it and on the other side of them is the public beach. We were so disappointed with this accommodation that we asked to change our room right away. The manager was very helpful in accommodating us and switching us to another room. Unfortunately we didn’t get the waterfront that we originally booked however the garden view bungalow was much more updated and very nicely decorated so we were happy. Later that same night we came home to ants everywhere in the room despite not having any food or windows open. They gave us spray and we kept spraying the room for the rest of our stay as we did continue to see them although the amount did decrease. On our last night we found a baby scorpion in our room again this was a shock to us that this would happen in a hotel of this caliber. We understand sometimes these things happen but how these matters are dealt with by the hotel can go a long way and nothing was extended to us to compensate us for our experience.

The food in the hotel was good but we found the menu at the beach bar a little boring for my liking. The hotel was about a 20-25 minutes walk to the town. A place we will stay again.

One of those places one wishes to keep a secret. A place that’s beautiful day and night with a breathtaking view, open air sunset dinning and wonderful fresh food. Amazing breakfast buffet for every taste..The property is removed but at the same time located that the (fishing) village of Agios Nikolaos can be reached in walking distance. Best time MidMay to early June and mid-September to October before and after the turnover crowds arrive … and stay at least 10 days/2 weeks to allow 2 or 3 days for exploring the historical sights of Crete

A fantastic hotel. Great position with a large private beach/ coast. Fantastic views. 15 minute costal walk to Agios Nikolaos. Breakfast was exceptional with lots of options and first class service. The only area for improvement was the main building sea view room which was a little dated and in need of some modernisation to keep up with the rest of the hotel. The bungalows look great and I when I come back Id go for one of those instead…. Overall this hotel was brilliant. A true 5 star paradise to relax and de stress! Go for it…

Gorgeous location with lots of different places for people at the hotel to spread out and enjoy. Breakfast options were plentiful and a good quality. Rooms were kept clean and were very comfortable and spacious. Staff were always friendly and accommodating. The spa services were of very high quality. Towels and bedding were always promptly refreshed. We dined mostly for dinner at Le bouboulisse as we did not particularly enjoy the dinner food quality in bacchaus. Whilst the gym facilities were sufficient, the equipment could use modernising or being looked after as the treadmills are out of calibration. Also needed some wipes for the equipment after use. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

The Minos Beach hotel was excellent from check in to departure we were looked after at every step of the way, the villas are top class with everything you need.
The location is within easy walking distance of the town centre, the views are amazing.
We chose to eat at the hotels restaurant a few nights and the buffet was great quality food and varied. Breakfast was included and was also buffet style, again great quality.

The service is exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble, they go above & beyond & everyone is always friendly. The grounds & lobby are fabulous with lots of interesting discoveries & surprises through the art pieces. The breakfast buffet is wonderful.
The classic rooms are disappointing. Do not stay in one of these - they need renovating & are gradually being phased out. We had an amazing view but the room is not luxury - it is a very basic, worn room. They did move us for the last few nights & the new room was wonderful, but it was extremely expensive for a 'motel' type accommodation which was what we were in for the majority of our stay. There was a cleaner's closet immediately opposite the room and the banging and shouting woke us every day.
There are 2 small beaches, & a variety of rocky outcrops with a variety of beach beds on site. All very comfortable and it never felt crowded. We could always find a bed and the swimming spots are lovely. The pool is large. There are two choices for lunch on site.
The immediate surrounding area is a little disappointing - there are 4/5 tavernas restaurants within a few minutes walk, but there is a main road with coaches passing by every few minutes & most of the restaurants are on the road. It's just not particularly pretty. They are significantly cheaper than eating in the hotel and the variety was nice. The food was excellent in all of them. It is a 20 minute walk into town and you can walk there along the water.

This is paradise on earth! We were lucky enough to stay in a superior water front room and it was just amazing. We have traveled a lot but often find it hard to find a hotel that delivers on all aspects, this is one of those rare gems. The hotel is beautifully designed so there is plenty of space, the rooms and garden layout are very cleverly thought through so it feels very private and exclusive. The rooms are modern with a rustic chic twist and the cleaning team do a wonderful job at keeping everything immaculate without really being noticed. We are not art enthusiasts but enjoyed finding the quirky art pieces in unexpected places. The food was consistently excellent, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and personable. The local town is a 10 minute walk offering great shopping and restaurants (though we didn’t need to eat there as we were so well catered for in the hotel). The Pelagos water sports centre (associated with but not owned by the hotel) is hugely impressive and we used their boats twice in the short time we were there, they were so professional with immaculate equipment and very knowledge and safety conscious staff. We will definitely come back!!!!

Fantastic property, very clean and excellent staff.

Location is very close to a little strip of good restaurants which are nice to visit if you would like some variation from the hotel restaurant (which are both lovely), and a relatively short walk into Agios Nikolaos itself which has a wider even more bars and restaurants.

The grounds of the hotel are well maintained, the setting on the coast is beautiful, and even though the property is close to the local town manages to feel very seculded.

The hotel bar serves wonderful cocktails, which the staff put a lot of effort into ensuring are beautifully presented and on most nights there was a great DJ that played very melow music which added to the hotels ambience without being distruptive.

I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be visiting again.

We had the most wonderful stay for our Honeymoon at the Minos Beach Art Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were incredibly friendly. We had a slight issue in that the original bungalow allocated to us had only a partial sea view when we had booked a sea view and it was sorted straight away, moving us to a different room and offering us a free meal in the fabulous Bacchus restaurant.

The rooms are minimalist and cool, our balcony with the sea view was gorgeous. Beach and pool area are great with plenty of space for lounging. We did one of the free yoga classes with Maria which was excellent. We also had a massage in the spa-highly recommended and very relaxing.

Great breakfast selection and amazing meal for my birthday in the Bouillabaisse restaurant. A cake was even sent to our room which was such a lovely touch. Special mention to Alexandra and Katerina at the front desk who couldn’t have done enough for us. We will definitely be back

Minos is the first hotel we've ever gone back to for a second trip, and it didn't disappoint.
Beautiful location, superb staff and delightful gardens to unwind in. Special mention to Caterina on reception, who surprised us with the same room we stayed in (and loved) last time; thanks to Roula who kept our room spotlessly clean; and to Yiannis and Stavros behind the bar.
Can't recommend the hotel enough – a glorious spot to watch the sun rise each morning, and then relax for the rest of the day – with a host of restaurants within easy walking distance. Thank you – I'm sure we'll be back (again).

Perfect from start to finish

Loved my stay at Minos Beach Art Hotel. Check in was slightly overly complicated as it’s contact free via an app due to Covid but once we were set up this app would enable us to order drinks anywhere in the hotel, from the beach to the beds by the pool. All the staff were super friendly and happy to assist. Our room was one of the newly renovated sea view rooms which are cool and stylish and include a super comfy bed. I definitely recommend contacting the hotel in advance to try and secure one of these rooms! Public areas are equally stunning, from the huge art in reception to the main bar and restaurants that have been put together with huge attention to detail. We also had fun walking round finding art in the hotel grounds. Some is better than others but it’s still a nice touch. Breakfast was served in the main restaurant and has a huge choice of both fresh prepared options and buffet (served by staff from behind glass screens). Finally the cocktails served in the evening from the main bar are epic! Lots of unusual flavour combos but all really delicious. I definitely hope to return to this hotel one day!

There's so much to love about Minos Beach Art Hotel! The setting is stunning, the food is good, and the staff is friendly. However, so much of the experience depends on the bungalow you are given. We had the bad luck of being placed into an overwater bungalow that was far from the beach/reception/breakfast and had a VERY different view that that which was advertised. The water access was also unusable due to slippery rocks. It's a shame that the class of room you pay for doesn't fairly determine the quality of your room experience. We felt like we seriously overspent for the experience.

The resort is located about a 45 minute drive east of Heraklion Airport. It has parking facilities for your vehicle. The bungalows are spaced apart so that no one feels the proximity of one's neighbor(s). In fact, you really can't tell how many people are staying at the resort because of how the lodging is planned. Minos Beach Art has a number of restaurants to sample. We tried them all and were extremely satisfied with the service and with what we ordered. You might just want to ask about the portions. They're big. The grounds are exceptionally maintained. Our bungalow had access to the sea so my wife would go swimming early each morning. There's scuba diving available if you desire, There's a beach. You can order from your lounger via an app you are encouraged to download. And if you're lucky to stay during their Greek Night, you'll be entertained with live traditional music and Greek dancers. It's really a fun night We stayed a week here and really enjoyed it. Do walk around the grounds, there's art of course scattered throughout the grounds to appreciate and an olympic sized pool. I feel somewhat guilty because I had no desire to venture into town. It might just had been being a typical New Yorker and not wanting to risk losing my parking space. Or simply this resort had it all.

Gorgeous property. Spread over a gently sloping hill, full of beautiful scented gardens with nice flowers and trees. Beach is clean, water is clear and pretty, beach runs along perimeter of hotel, most of it deep and rocky close to shore but there is an area that’s nice and sandy and not too deep. Water is sheltered and calm. There is a beach club next door with a larger area of sandy beach. Beach overlooks the town, nice views of coastline. Bungalows are rustic, feel very private and somewhat secluded, shrouded by gardens and trees. Service is excellent, staff welcoming, hospitable and lovely and food good. Good restaurants close by. Town short walk away, can walk to town through hills or along beautiful beach promenade.

Your sunbeds and parasol have your room number on them...so u are akways in the best spot outside your room overlooking sea !
Top Staff...Top level all round service...nothing too much trouble
Massive selection of Greek and other foods fir breakfast, lunch, supper
Highly recommend for middle age people or young couples with young children
Not the best for sailing types as no sailing( dinghies or yachts) , windsurfing or Scuba activities

This property is like a true sanctuary.its romantically beautiful or blissfully quiet.
The setting is right on the edge of the Mediterranean.the little villas dotted along the edge of the sea.the staff are kind and considerate!
The art scattered throughout the garden is beautiful and you stumble across pieces hidden in a whimsical layout.

We enjoyed a great 10 days at Minos Beach - we moved from our original older room to a much improved 1 bedroom villa as we were initially not that happy but everything was handled very professionally. The majority of the guests have visited many times which is always a great reference point. The grounds are well maintained and the location, right next to a beautiful bay with mountains as a backdrop, is perfect. There's plenty of choice for dining as well as plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The staff all really seem to care.

The hotel room was very old and outdated. The jacuzzi tub was also the shower. All of the plumbing fixtures were very old and hard to use. The shower door leaked terribly. We tried to be careful but it still required 3 towels to soak up the water after 2 showers. The air conditioner was barely adequate and when it was on high it was very noisy

This holiday really made our holiday fabulous. Spread over a large plot, the sheer space made it feel luxurious even though there were a lot of other guests. We loved the artwork in the well kept grounds. The beach was lovely as was the swimming pool area. Breakfast was great though with the slight quibble of instant decaf coffee and no gluten free bread on offer. Staff were wonderful from the receptionist to the gardener, and the breakfast staff were hyper efficient yet friendly. The rooms were nice and you felt secluded given that each one was separate. Just loved this hotel!

The Minos Beach Art Hotel is awesome in everyday - location brilliant allowing direct access to the sea - staff truly fantastic, just couldn't do enough to make our holiday one to remember. The three bedroom villa with own pool made us feel like celebrities, beautifully decorated immaculately clean with everything you could ask for. My 18 yr old and 14 yr old made the most of the breakfasts with something for everyone and nothing was too much to ask for - dinner was five course A La cart - lots of local dishes as well as everyones favourites. This is a truly wonderful place run by people who really do care about their guest - go there and experience for yourself.

Amazing beaches, garden and location!

It was a great pleasure spending our time in this beautiful hotel. Be aware that you will not be in a super luxurious place, as the philosophy of the hotel is a replication of Cretan fishermen village. However, you will feel the character and spirit of this place, including impressive customer service.

Initially, we booked a room in the annex building with a sea view which eventually had very restricted sea view. There were two beds instead of one double bed. Next day we addressed these issues and the hotel management solved them immediately, in a very professional and friendly manner.

Pros:
The beaches (the hotel has many of them, tiny private ones and those for common use) are beyond expectations - they are just perfect! You will be swimming in very clean waters with nice fish next to you.

The garden and common areas are fantastic! Very tidy and nicely decorated. Highest standard.

The staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. If you have any issues just address them straight away. The management does good job.

The location is perfect as you are literally in Agios Nikolaos and can walk to the town centre.

Cons:
The rooms are outdated, in need of renovation. Same applies to the furniture and bathrooms.

Do not buy Half Board, it is not worth it. The dinner is poor for 5 star hotel. You would rather visit one of on site restaurants or go out, there are plenty of amazing restaurants nearby.

We have not tried their pool as we love sea, but it looked very nice.

Beautiful hotel and grounds

This hotel is close to Agios Nikolaos so if you want a stroll into town and a bit of shopping it is easy to do. The rooms are a good size and have outdoor seating as well as reserved sun beds by the really clear water. The standard of service is excellent. Staff are courteous and welcoming. As it was a special occasion we had an upgrade for a few days to a overwater bungalow and another with a private pool. Both fantastic if you are a keen swimmer like me!
The Boullibaisse restaurant is expensive but is exceptional. We experienced a gourmet seafood night and thought it was incredible, as is the service here. My only slight negative is the slightly tired bathroom with a shower in the spa bath. We also got bitten to bit by mosquitos so make sure you have repellent handy in the evening. Loved this holiday and I'd go again.

Perfect for relaxation

Excellent setting with beautiful surroundings but near to a large town with lots of restaurants, bars and shopping. Plenty of different areas of the hotel to relax; pool, beach or on the waterfront.

Good choice at breakfast but ate at nearby tavernas and restaurants.

Room (sea facing bungalow) was nice but quite small. You could see the sea from the terrace but these are not sea view properties (and rightly not advertised as such).

Amazing stay at a beautiful hotel!!!

We spent 6 days at Minos Beach and loved every second of it. Our room was spotless with plenty of space and everything we needed. The bed was very comfy, I slept very well when we were there. The bathroom was also very spacious with a lovely shower that even had a little seat and jets! Our room came with two reserved sunbeds on the terrace outside with spectacular views. The pool area is lovely with big sunbeds. There was always space and they were so comfy!! We ordered cocktails that were bought over to us. We even ordered sandwiches and chips to our sunbeds.. perfect!
The grounds of the hotel are incredible. Everyday we were saying how beautiful everything is. The staff were fantastic, they always had smiles on their faces and were very helpful.
Breakfast has lovely, plenty of options, you definitely won't go hungry! We never ate in the hotel restaurants for dinner so unable to review this. About a 3 minute walk from the hotel will take you pass several restaurants, we tried all of them. We particularly liked Patriko, definitely go here if you can.
We needed a late checkout due to our flight home being very late at night. The staff were accommodating and moved us to a garden bungalow for our last few hours without a fuss.
I would 100% recommend this hotel to everyone, we had the most amazing stay and I hope to return in the future. Not a bad word to say about this place, one of the best holidays I've ever been on!!

Thank you Minos Beach Art Hotel

Stayed here with the family to celebrate a 70th birthday. From checking in to checking out we couldn't fault the Minos Beach Art Hotel. All the on site facilities you could want and a great location just a 15 minute walk from the centre of Agios with some of the best Tavernas in town only 5 minutes away. Lots of space and privacy in the resort with bungalows scattered in the well tended gardens. An upgrade to a 2 bedroom bungalow with private pool and sea view was a very welcome surprise! Most importantly a big thank you to the super friendly and helpful staff who made our special stay even more memorable.

Superb hotel with private beach

This hotel is definitely in the luxury class. All facilities are exceptional. With bars providing both drinks and snacks poolside or by the beach is great. There are plenty of sunbeams and parasols throughout and never had a problem getting one either by the pool or along the front by the sea. There were times when other guests put towels on sunbeams and never used them for many hours and whilst there are signs to say that staff will remove these I saw no evidence that they did so this could be improved.

Nice Oasis near Agios Nikolaos

This is a sprawling complex of bungalows just outside Agios Nikolaos. We had a sea view unit, which was very clean and comfortable. Because of the size of the grounds, we had a 1/4 mile (0.4 km) walk to the main building with the bar and restaurants. There are umbrellas and chairs scattered around the seaside, but the prime locations got filled up early for the entire day, so we mostly sat at the beach bar while swimming. We only had buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which were OK, nothing great. A unique feature of the hotel are the sculptures scattered around the grounds. There are some cute kitties that hang out around the restaurants. The atmosphere is quiet and sedate. For something more lively, the town is about a 20 minute walk. The staff were all amazingly friendly and helpful. Overall, a nice place for a relaxing vacation.

Luxurious hotel with wonderful views

We were given a free upgrade to a lovely 3 room bungalow with private pool and sea view. The breakfast buffet was magnificent with lots of choice - traditional Cretan dishes were available as well as normal choices. We were also given free spa vouchers. The staff were delightful and we were looked after very well. The sea was only 30 yards from our little house and swimming was wonderful in the turquoise water. Only a 15 minute walk into town where there are lots of bars and restaurants.

Beautiful hotel with amazing waterfront location

This is a luxurious, beautiful hotel set in one of the most beautiful surroundings possible. Flowers, gardens, art, good food, amazing access to the sea. A very special place. We were upgraded to a villa with private pool and this was phenomenal. The villa was large and very well designed. Our only complaint was that the shower was very small. There was a separate bathtub in the room with a gorgeous view that made up for it, however.

Wirklich ein ausserordentlich gut geführtes Hotel. Essen auf Spitzenklasse, bester Service, perfekt gestaltete Anlage direkt am Wasser. Zwei Dinge, die man (v.a. in der Nebensaison) wissen muss: die Bungalows sind eher dunkel (keine Fenster) und klein. Der Pool ist nicht beheizt.

Our “Seaview bungalow” was a 15 x 15 m2 room without any windows. No bathroom, just a small shower.

I would recommend anyone coming here to ask to have a look at their “bungalow” before checking in.

Also very dirty, old dust and dirt. See enclosed photos. We will not come back.

Stay Duration : 3 Nights

The property: Beautiful, well kept and lush with vegetation.

The Staff: Check-in was slightly disappointing. The person who was tasked with this responsibility was bubbling, but unfortunately distracted by other guests which took away from intended \"personalize experience\". Check-out was more disappointing as the person, while professional, were more pleasant towards their colleagues than to us while we settled the charges.

The Restaurants : We booked dinner at 3 of their restaurants; each had its own event.

The1st dinner was a tasting menu curated by an outside chef. The menu items were delicious. However, nothing accompanied our cocktails - no amuse-bouche not even olives. Moreover, bread was not offered or served with our courses.

The 2nd dinner was at Adeste. We were really excited about this one as it was traditional Cretan cuisine accompanied by live music. Once again, items came so fast and we felt so rushed. We finished 4 appetizers, 2 meats and a bottle of wine in an hour. We didn’t get to linger and enjoy the music.

Because the first 2 experiences, we cancelled our 3rd dinner reservation.

The Room : Superior Waterfront Bungalow.
