The hotel was lovely, clean and well positioned close to bars and restaurants in the city centre.
The only downside was check in should have been at 2pm and after a long hot journey we arrived at 3.30pm only to be told that our room wasn’t ready, we were eventually able to get in the room at 5.30 but were offered no compensation or apology.

Rooms are very dated and could be doing with work. The rooms are very drab. There was a lot of noise from midnight for about an hour on our floor which was very annoying.

nice hotel

very good location and in quiet area , room are comfy enough space plus little balcony , friendly staff , price was ok . Just a bit disappointed with the breakfast though as for the price it was a bit limited especially if you don t want to eat pork , outside you gave lovely coffee shops with good coffee and superb pastry and sandwiches for a very good price . I would still recommend the place , maybe a kettle in the room would be nice .

This property is perfectly located, close to restaurants and shops but it can be very loud at night if you have a room facing the main street. The staff was really friendly and spoke English which made communication a lot easier.

Exploring Huelva, home base of explorers

Had a great two day stay in Huelva. Nice town, great downtown with lots off activities nearby. Never realized that Huelva and nearby Rabida had such a powerful impact on Christopher Columbus’ voyages.
The hotel was great. Located in the principal pedestrian area in center city, flanked by restaurants, cafes, public buildings and shopping. It has an upbeat feel to it. The local folks are friendly, welcoming and engaging.
At first we were intimidated by the parking situation, but the hotel’s garage is really easy to find with the directions provided at reception.
We’d definitely stay there on a future visit.

The hotel was quite run down - stains on carpets in the corridors, key card mechanism not working properly, closed windows letting in a lot of noise from outside. Also, very invasive smell of drains on ground and first floors. On the plus side, the room and bathroom were clean and the staff very sweet and helpful. Have no idea how it got 4 stars...

Limited hotel choices in Huelva

Strong odour of smoke in room and persisted throughout our stay, also coming up in the bathroom vents. Wouldn't rate this as a four star hotel although service and breakfast good. Shower handle kept sliding down, falling and spraying water all over bathroom floor. Rooms are not soundproof as advertised: Other doors opening and shutting rattled in our room, voices outside door and in other rooms also echoed into ours. Parking at Colon underground car park around 19 Euros per day; if you miss it need to drive all the way around the old town again but this lot is fairly close to the hotel (discounted parking was elsewhere so we didn't inquire.). Other than breakfast (which cost 9E each not 7 Euros as advertised on hotels.com), there was no restaurant at the hotel, apparently one down the street affiliated with it. Hotel is central to town shops and restaurants, and the room was quiet overlooking the centre building / water tanks when no one was in the hall.

A Good Suprise

Only downside was our view! Of water tanks we think. Oh, and the building seems newer then most, so the walls are thinner. During our touring in Europe we have become used to quiet hotel interiors due to thick walls. Not the case here. However, everything was very good.

The hotel is OK, but it has external flaws

The Hotel Tartessus in Huelva has pleasant installations and facilities, but its location is very unpleasant.
a) Arriving by car is quite a problem, if the car GPS orientation system is used, owing to the numerous one-direction streets not recognized by the system;
b) Parking the car is possible near the hotel only to discharge the luggage, and, as the hotel park was said to be complete, the public park (not very far: about 200m) but it is expensive for a long stay;
c) The sound isolation between rooms is defective.
d) Last, but not the least, the street is full of cafeterias and bars, very noisy until midnight or so, even in december, and the hotel has not noise isolation windows.
Never more, nor to me, neither to friends of mine that I would know that they are going to Huelva.

Hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Huelva.

The room is clean but the bed only had one pillow each. Extra ones were supplied the next day. The mattress was very firm indeed!
The walls are fairly thin and voices from the next room were disturbing. Due to some extent to the lack of carpets absorbing sound and the loudness of excited Spanish voices.

Ideal central location for midweek break. Hotel is close to shops, bars and restaurants. No vehicle access or parking, but we easily found parking at Casa Colon (5 mins walk and 18€ per day) then were showed Villa Madrid parking by our family (10 minute walk and 6€ per day). The staff at Reception were friendly and helpful, speaking english when our very limited spanish failed.

The room, though quite basic and slightly shabby, was comfortable with twin beds, a wardrobe, desk and bedside tables. The bathroom had a good shower with ample hot water. A stocked refrigerator held beer, wine, juice and water, but we bought our own from the nearby Carrefour. A balcony looked out over the avenue and we enjoyed watching the world go by. Linen was crisp and the room was serviced daily. There is no coffee tray in the room but a machine in the foyer supplies 5 types of coffee for 50c.

There is not a lot to do in the city for the enthusiastic tourist, but we enjoyed the ambiance and trying out the local bars and restaurants. Breakfast is available in the hotel, but we went to the local bars and enjoyed coffee and toast every morning for a few euros.

A very relaxing four nights.

A four star facade but a two star sleep.

The hotel seems to have no insulation to reduce noise pollution. Room doors have no cushioning to deaden the impact when doors are slammed. The walls are so thin I could hear every word the couple behind the wall were saying and all their intimate actions were so evident. Sleep, even with ear-plugs was hard to come by. Hardly what is expected of a four star hotel.

I needed the hotel as a base to visit nearby locales and as an information source/concierge. The desk personnel were wonderful in providing general information, but did not have any particular travel services or specific, current info available. They did make efforts to help via checking on things on-line, and gave full attention to requests. I could have used a reading chair in the room; furnishings were basic bed, desk with chair.

Ok for a one-day stay

The hotel is located in the pedestrian area of Huelva. The hotel needs an up-lift and I did not find the person at the desk to be particularly welcoming. The room is OK and also needs some work to bring it to the current century or probably we were spoiled by the hotels we had already visited. Bathroom OK too. On the plus side, everything was clean and found no surprises. On the down side, the hotel does not even offer a bottle of water. There is a car park near-by that you can reserve through the hotel if you happen to come by car. The city is very small so everything is literally in walking distance. Do not go to Huelva on a Sunday unless you want to experience what it is like to live in a post-apocalyptic world where you are one of the very few survivors, a privilege you may not have if a nuclear war does happen.

Nous avons tenté d'annuler la réservation suite à un changement dans la réservation de notre Ferry même si nous avions réservé avec annulation on a refusé de nous dédommager. Ce changement était hors de notre contrôle c'est la cie Ferry Hoopper qui a modifié l'horaire de son bateau nous empêchant de nous rendre pour la nuit réservée. Nous avons été mis au courant à la dernière minute alors l'hôtel aurait pu comprendre notre problème. Très déçevant comme service.

Tenía reserva para una habitación doble superior y había puesto una anotación pidiendo una habitación con buenas vistas a ser posible. cuando llegamos eran las 10:30pm y nos dieron una habitación claramente inferior con una cama de matrimonio pequeña y mirando al patio interior. Es como si supieran que no nos iba a gustar porque nos dijeron que si teníamos cualquier problema con la habitación se tenía que arreglar por la mañana y no habría ningún problema. Pero al final pagué la habitación superior por tres noches y solamente tuvimos dos noches de habitación superior.

Perfecta localización!!!

La localización del hotel en la ciudad no podría ser más perfecta. Caminando a cualquier sitio de interés.
Personalmente es más un hotel de 3 estrellas que de 4 en función de las instalaciones. Aunque he de admitir que el trato del personal ha sido fabuloso!!!
Nos prestaron un hervidor de agua lo cual les agradecemos enormemente.

Bien situado. La única pega es encontrar aparcamiento público cerca. Nosotros utilizábamos uno a unos 10 minutos del hotel, zona azul llamada zona naranja. Hotel limpio. Silencioso. Habitación muy grande, con una minihabitación aparte con la cama de la niña. Muy recomendable.
