Parking garage right across the street..$24.00 a day..no other parking..Inn is walking distance to shopping, restaurants, tours, can also get tours with busses to ft sumntner etc. There s coffee in AM in courtyard and wine and cheese in evening 5 to 6 a nice end to day...There is an elevator if you re on 3rd floor. We were in first floor near street ans a little noisy in AM when trucks deliver food to restaurants otherwise wonderful. Desk person very helpful.

The room was very clean but underwhelming. The lighting felt dark, especially in bathroom. We had to keep the shutters closed b/c we were on 1st floor and people would walk by and next door we had workers on ladders at our window. We were under the stairs and there were old paint cans and work items visible that seemed to have been there a while.
Our room also felt it was missing a piece of furniture under the tv. There was no rug under the bed, just door mats at bedside. Bed was hard and bedding was mediocre. Maybe my expectations were too high but I wish it felt more plush.

The Elliott House was very picturesque, the room was comfortable and the inner courtyard was beautiful. Wine and cheese there in the evenings. Restaurants and shops all around; we never had to get the car out of parking. That said, the walls were thin, there was no in-room coffee machine (only available in the courtyard every morning for one hour) and no daily room cleaning. Also no staff on site after 10 p.m. Not sure we'll stay there again with so many other choices nearby.

A little surprised there's no housekeeping service but front desk was so accomodating. Each night a wedding was going on and the band was so loud it felt like we were there. It did stop around 11. I would reccomend this hotel for the location alone. Can't beat it. Wine and cheese was very nice too.

The hotel was very quaint. Nice interior courtyard where they served coffee in the morning and wine and cheese in the afternoon. Staff was very friendly. This is an older hotel in the middle of everything. Our room had a bit of a musty smell and no way to open the windows for fresh air, but that is truly my only complaint. I would recommend this hotel if you’re looking for an authentic Charleston experience. The restaurant next door is loud with live music on the weekends but it stops at 11pm.

Parking garage directly across the street is very convenient and public transportation is at both ends of the street. Daily wine and cheese reception is very nice. The room was very comfortable, my only wish was for a microwave oven and an in room coffee maker. Coffee is available daily in the courtyard which is nice unless it’s raining, and it did.

(These are all next door to the Inn and are some of the city's best restaurants). Room was clean and sufficient for our needs, though may be more outdated than some may like.

Older hotel with so much charm! Check in was easy. Parked in garage across the street (they forget to take the parking full sign down. Go in anyway) beautiful courtyard, roomy clean well appointed rooms. Wine and cheese in the courtyard from 5-6p. Great location. Entire French quarter is walkable. Friendly staff. Our room had it's own private patio. We stayed on ground level. No bugs. Everything is expensive there, including this hotel but it was by far the most bang for your buck! Would absolutely stay here again!

This is in a great area with loads of restaurants and shopping on the doorstep. Staff were friendly and helpful. Happy Hour was a nice touch.

The property could use a bit of a refresh and I heard other guests complaining about the in-room AC units being loud or not working efficiently. We might stay again, but it’s an expensive area of Charleston for lodging and I wouldn’t call this a bargain. For us it was worth not having to drive around all weekend.

The room was clean. No accommodation for a microwave. The toilet bowl was dirty with a ring in it. Mosquitos were coming in the room. The AC unit was working well enough. The sink stand was rusty. The offer the wine and cheese, but only for 1 hour. We were not made aware of $75 oft of dining. We had to make the reservation through them. Although I made my reservation through Expedia. But I’m still a paying customer. So we didn’t get anything special.

The listing says 24-hour service/ front desk and that there is a bar/lounge 9n property, neither of which is true - there’s not even a lobby and front desk closed at 10, I barely made it there in time to check in. Lovely bar next door (completely unrelated to hotel), but that’s not what was advertised. Front desk manager was unapologetic, definitely wasn’t feeling that southern hospitality.

The Elliott Inn is perfectly located within walking distance of most places to visit. There are two great restaurants that are on each side of the hotel (a bit expensive!) for convenience. The room was nothing to rave about except that the bed was very comfortable. No coffee makers in the room which aggravated the hubby but coffee is served in the courtyard each morning as well as wine and cheese in the evening. The property does need some updating and cleaning on the outside but the rooms were very clean. Because it is an old historical building, the ceilings and walls are not very noise proof. We experienced loud stomping around several times at night above us. The bathrooms looked as if they had been renovated recently and the shower was nice and spacious although the water pressure was mediocre. The parking is very limited in this area but fortunately there was a parking garage right across the street from the hotel for $20 per day. I would say for the price we paid, it was not worth it. However, Charleston is not cheap to visit. We did have a great time while there!

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

We drove 7 hours only to have a snitty evening receptionist bring us down. I found us stuck there by then, with the hotels mostly all filled up in town during the Christmas holiday. Plus i'd already spring for 3 nights there, i paying $276 a night before taxes. The officious, snitty evening receptionist remained rude throughout, even lecturing me about how pushing back a check-out time worked. Oh, and the cramped room was funky from humidity with the smell of mold coming from the mini-fridge cabinet besides.

This review is coming from a married couple that has stayed in several boutique hotels around downtown Charleston in the last 2 years. The Elliott was by far the worst. If this was a $100 room it wouldn't be so bad. But it was over $300 for a queen room for one night on our 32-year wedding anniversary, New Year's Eve.

I called on the phone prior to check in. It was hard to understand the clerk over the phone. High pitched quick answers that didn't really seem to make sense. I asked to upgrade from a queen to a King and the reply was inaudible. I think they said "full up", but couldn't tell after I asked again. Parking garage across the street was $20 overnight. No restaurant or lounge attached to this hotel. Courtyard was filthy dirty. Exterior of the building was dirty. Window from our room looking out into a filthy alleyway. Toilet was dirty. The staff wasn't rude, but just not friendly at all.

Choose a Remodeled Room!

We’ve stayed here before in one of the remodeled rooms and it was lovely. It was definitely nicer than the older one we stayed in this time. The walls were dirty with scuff marks, the bed was warped and overall the furnishings were dingy. I can’t say we’ll return.

We stayed there on our last trip to Charleston and it was fabulous.

There is a very nice relaxing court yard if you get back from your days activities and don't want to be in your room, although the room was very nice and had a classic feel to it. I would stay here again!

You should take them out of your portfolio. They only want direct bookings. I was in the room right on the street. It was noisy and I did not feel safe. Half the time I had to get someone to open my door as it was difficult.
I called and left a message as to my arrival time. Fortunately I arrived half an hour before the office closed. I was told that a text had been sent about the code for the locked gate, etc., after 10:30pm. I would not have checked for a text and asked why I was not called. I was told that I could leave if I was not happy. Reasons for bad room and no phone call were that I should have booked direct.

I really enjoyed our stay at Elliott House Inn. I originally booked based on price and also convenience of the area but almost cancelled after ready external reviews. I am very glad I did not. Staff was friendly at check in and printed us a list of their favorite things to do in the area. We were given real keys instead of keycards which I thought was kind of nice. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we were able to use the elevator to get our luggage up. The chairs in the room did have some stains but the room was very clean and all the chairs did was hold my luggage anyway. The shower was tricky to figure out how to turn on but was very nice. The bed was comfortable, my husband had been having trouble sleeping and was able to sleep the whole night. The area was quiet at night during our stay as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee/tea available each morning. We partook in the wine/cheese hour one evening and were pleased. The courtyard feels like a vacation within itself - almost like being in Europe. The location of the hotel was close to several restaurants and shops - we were able to walk most places we wanted to go to in downtown Charleston. We parked in the deck across the street which was easily accessible and cost $60 for 3 nights. I would absolutely consider staying here again if in the area.
