Couple of things worth mentioning . If you plan to stay here especially if you came by train or bus , it is only a 15 minute walk to the hotel but through lots of inclines /declines , and taxis were short to come by so it was a heck of a walk there though the cold and rain .
Breakfast buffet was not great , eggs /sausage were cold , and very tiny selection considering the cost . Pass on the breakfast “buffet”
Also - not saying the front desk wasn’t helpful they just don’t volunteer any useful information for getting around or where things are in the hotel and acted shocked when I would ask , also very outdated , and BIG lack of amenities for what they charge . I would pass on this hotel

Aktiv Hotel Schweiger is located in a quiet area of Fussen. It's a 15-minute walk along the river to the old town with its many shops, historical landmarks, and restaurants. However, no need to go into town for each night as they serve a lovely dinner at the hotel. Their breakfast buffet offers a lot of selection, too. The hotel itself is well-maintained. My room was spacious, clean and bright. The staff are extremely helpful. Prior to my stay, they were prompt to answers questions about their spa services and helped me choose the best options for me. They even went out of their way (twice) to acknowledge my birthday which occurred during my stay, which I very much appreciated. The area around the hotel is safe. And if you have a car, there is both above and underground parking. I highly recommend this hotel.

Ok hotel, but didn't provide what I paid for

Located 10-15min walk from the train/bus station in a quiet area and less than 10min walk from the town centre.
Room reasonably spacious and clean, overall decent standard.
Major frustration that hotel is more than happy to take the money and not give you what you paid for. Trust receptionist at your own risk - or get everything on paper. And pay in advance only for what you're sure you'll use..
Note that breakfast only starts from 7:30 - if you haven't bought castle tickets for Hohenschwangau in advance but need to queue for them in the morning, you will be unlikely to get them if you wait for breakfast.
I was told by a receptionist when checking in that I can't get an early or take-away breakfast - but she suggested I can cancel the breakfast and will get a refund - which I accepted. To my astonishment, the next day another receptionist said no refund. She, and another person she called in, accepted I had paid for the breakfast, didn't get it because I trusted what a receptionist had told me - and they thought this was perfectly ok and just shrugged their shoulders. They make mistake - and let you, the customer, pay for it.

In a good location. You could walk into the town. The hotel staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great. The only downside was that the shower in the bedroom was in great need of updating and the pillows could do with being renewed.

Very poor facilities in the rooms. No kettle or mini fridge etc and a tiny television (an old computer screen) you can barely see from the bed, with very limited channels. Old, mismatched furniture with no charm whatsoever! For the price you pay for this hotel, you get a very poor standard of room.

Off the beaten path - 10 min walk from Altstadt

This spot was off the old town in Fussen - convenient location (including breakfast and parking) with nice clean space. Very touristy city, but having this site a 10 minute walk from the Aldstadt was just far enough to get some quiet, less crowded options.

Breakfast had good choices, nice coffee and convenient hours.

Room was clean and pleasant, although bathroom/shower was tiny even for European standards.

Modern country garden style backed up against a nice garden with big beautiful trees. Access to the river is only two blocks away on a trail that leads to center of the old town. Staff is friendly, room was cozy but hot (no ac and do not stock ventilators/fans). Bathrobes and patio looking over garden were nice touches. They offered spa activities which we didn’t have time to try. We highly recommend this hotel for its beautiful location and modern country style. The breakfast buffet offered more than other places we stayed with some healthier options in addition to standard fare. Easy access to castles only a few minutes drive. They had free parking to right of their building which was awesome!

Quaint hotel away from majority of tourists

Quaint hotel slightly outside of Fussen. Friendly staff with clean rooms, though they aren't the largest. Nice balcony overlooking the country side. Hotel is 10-15 walk from train station and where buses depart for the castle. Part of it is uphill and through cobble stone streets, so probably not for everyone, but that's why taxis exist. Grocery store within 5 minutes and restaurants also not much further away.

First impression comfortable and clean. Nice to help bring first breakfast to room. Only one tiny hand soap given which was not replenished for second night, same for other toiletries like bath gel and shampoo. Paid two nights accommodation but received only one day toiletries. After second breakfast, hotel wanted to charge for 2 bananas and 2 eggs to be taken out. Shocked with such calculative act never encountered before in other hotels stay with breakfast included. Shower facilities have much to improve, shower curtain too small for bath tub and water pressure too low.

Within walking distance of Fuessen with restaurants, shops and sight-seeing. We really liked this hotel and would happily return. Neuschwanstein less than 20 minutes away.

Location was just right!

A great location and comfortable stay. A short walk to waterfalls or town, with a large room (for 3), good hot breakfast, and a whirlpool dos on site. There are a number of other small hotels nearby, but the area was very quiet and we still felt we were away from town.

The hotel with restaurant is very nice and located in a very quiet area. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent. The hotel only offers wifi in the lobby area. The double bed was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress was very thin and you could feel the support boards. You could not sleep in the center of the bed.

We found this hotel very comfortable and welcoming. The only negative is that it is well out of Fussen. The hotel recommends walking into town by the river which was delightful and we agree. But walking back at night can be very confusing as we found out but that's another story.

Nice hotel, very welcoming staff. Comfortable but not luxurious. Sparkling water and Apple's in room on arrival, but not replenished during the stay, same for toiletries in the bathroom. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room and only 2 English language channels on TV, both news channels. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Spa facilities ok, but pool was tiny. Very good area for hiking and mountain biking, and pretty town with great variety of places to eat out within 10 minute walk, along a pretty riverside path, well away from traffic. Parking next to hotel and in underground garage, but it did get full during our stay.

Surprising gourmet dinner in cute, Bavarian hotel

After a long drive we arrived at the hotel around dinner time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was available right next to the hotel. We were tired so decided to eat in rather than walk the ~15 minutes down to the centre of Fuessen. Initial service placing our order and getting drinks was a little slow but we decided it was worth the wait. Both our meals were delicious including the 'greetings from the chef'. Would highly recommend eating in at least one evening. Our room was comfortable and quiet, interesting bathroom with the shower in the corner with only a shower curtain separating it from the rest of the room. It was okay for one night stay but would probably get irritating over a long stay. Overall would recommend the hotel and definitely stay there if we are back in the area.

This is definitely not a 4* quality hotel. Yes, staff is friendly, kitchen is good, location is ok [if you know where to go], parking, but other than that... Beds were designed, and probably built, in the middle of last century, other furniture and mattresses likewise. Tiny accessible shower, which may be fine if you really need one or like clinging shower curtains and water all over the bathroom floor. In other words, if you didn't choose this hotel for medical reasons then stay somewhere else.

A little surprised by the 4 star rating

Enjoyed the stay but in comparison, this should have a 3 star rating. Service was excellent, but wifi is not free, breakfast is free but just OK.parking free and underground.the room did have a balcony, but it was dated and tired looking. The lobby and restaurant area is very traditional, clean and comfortable. We've stayed in many European hotels. This is not a 4 star.

We arrived late to a warm welcome from the reception, a personalised welcome note in our rooms and a comfy bed. The bathroom in my room was relatively small and my travel companion's room had a very small single bed. Breakfast in the morning was a friendly affair and very tasty.

Beyond the gracious greeting, I was most impressed with the live Orchid and bottled water awaiting us in an immaculately clean and spacious room. Luxurious bathrobes neatly folded in the beds and a fresh flower in the bathroom were extra touches that made the well kept and decorated room even more pleasent. Fussen may be the vacation place for kings and the Aktiv Hotel Schweiger certainly made us feel like royality.

Not a family hotel

Hotel was very pleasant, staff and service very pleasant. However not really in walking distance of centre of Fuessen. There was a park nearby for children to play in but hotel really geared to 50+ coming to enjoy spa facilities and use as a centre to drive from daily. Hotel swimming pool really the same size as a very large bath not an area for children to splash in!
The quality of hotel restaurant good but very very limited -one chicken or one vegetarian dish and no childrens menu.
For adults wisshing to get away from families perfect.

Very nice samll hotel in a perfect location. A few mins walk into Fussen old town and a few mins drive to the castles. Everything in the hotel was clean and well kept. The small SPA facilities a worth-while addition. Actually everything was small including the room and even the TV. The price wasn't small though. So nice hotel but not special enough and therefore poor value.

This is a nice hotel tucked away from the main part of the city. It is nice and quiet. It is only about a 5 minute drive to the two castles and the staff is very friendly and speaks English. If you have a laptop be sure to bring it with you. There is free wireless Internet in the lobby area. Just ask the front desk and they will give you the network key. The only negative part about my room was the refrigerator. I do not know if it says there is or is not one in the hotel details but there is not one in the room. Other than that I completely enjoyed my stay.

Lage ist spitze. Alles gut in Füssen zu Fuss erreichbar. Komfortzimmer sind etwas abgewohnt. Unter einem Komfortzimmer in dieser Preislage versteht man was anderes.Dusche nicht i.O. Matratzen eine Katastrophe. Fenseh und Internet 2 Tage ausgefallen. Zimmerreinigung mangelhaft oder nicht erfolgt, weil unterbesetzt. Frühstück gut, Personal sehr freundlich. Schien mur aber bei Problemen manchmal etwas hilflos. Alles in allem ist die Lage superschön und ruhig. Empfehlen können wir es aber wegen der Zimmer nicht wirklich.

An sich hat alles super funktioniert, das Hotel ist auch super zu Fuß erreichbar wenn man ich Füssen mit der bahn anreist das sind keine 15 Geh minuten bis zum hotel und nur 10min bis zur alt stadt generell pass das preis Leistungsverhältnis hervorragend wer preis wert übernachten will muss es hier mach weil insgesamt habe ich für 2 Übernachtungen inklusive Frühstück für zwei Personen nur 230€ gezahlt alles ist perfekt

Schön ruhig gelegen

gemütliches Hotel. Ich hatte ein Comfortzimmer zur Einzelnutzung. Geräumiges Zimmer und grosses Duschbadezimmer und ein kleiner Balkon zur Strassenseite (es ist aber sehr ruhig dort, da kein Durchgangsverkehr herrscht) das einzige Manko ist der superkleine TV. Bei der schönen Landschaft wird mn sicherlich nicht vorrangig fernsehen, aber es gibt ja auch mal einen Regentag und da möchte man schon ein größeres Fernsehbild haben als ein Laptop groß ist ;-)
