Will not be going back

No kettles in the rooms, no irons only one in a common room and you have to wait for your turn, it was crazy as I had a wedding.
Aircon is extremely high and stops if you change the setting from 21 degrees
Coffee and room service does not start till 12:30 pm.
Breakfast is horrible, barely anything eatable thats a shame for a 4 star in Italy
Some of the team members however were very helpful

The front desk staff were wonderful. Our room was very spacious. I would suggest adding a full length mirror or at least a non-antique mirror outside of the bathroom. The morning breakfast was really well prepared and staff was always very friendly. The evening dinner at the property’s restaurant was where we had the problem. We were the second guests to arrive and were the last of the evening to be served. Items we ordered never arrived but we were charged for. It was a terrible experience. The front desk was very gracious with apologies and offered a free bottle of wine, which was very nice. Lastly, the address leads to the back side of the property on maps which made it a bit confusing when walking in the rain from the train station.

This hotel was lovely. We did half board which i would recommend. Great food and service.

Reception was very helpful when we found our room to be too hot, due to the air conditioning not being turned on to the 1st of June. They moved our room and provided us with a fan. They then spoke to the manager and had the air conditioning turned on early in the main part of the building.

Would recommend their wine tasting and tour they offer with in the hotel.

20 mintue walk from the train station as well and a fast train in to florence takes 30 minutes.

Very helpful with any issues, Lovely place to stay.

I needed a stop on my way to Bolgna from a long trip south. Excellent hotel. Beautiful accommodations with a very friendly staff. Had a very nice dinner as they kept the kitchen open for me. Free parking and reasonably priced. I will return.

This is a top quality hotel. The Building. Terrace and Garden are historical. You can spend an hour just touring and taking pictures in this hotel compound. It has operating winery inside you can joint the scheduled tour.
Absolutely an amazing experience for hotel staying.

It's a nice hotel and I like it since many years.
But only the thing I can not bare is their hair dryer!!
It's old fashioned vaccine cleaner type with horse from the wall. This is absolutely inconvenience. Bathroom amenity is also too minimum. Just small tube of shower gel provided for 1 tube for 2 people?

We loved the hotel - the property is beautiful, the service was great, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and clean, we had a large four poster bed which was very comfortable. Both restaurants were great, the food and setting were fantastic. Breakfast could be a bit hit and miss with availability and the coffee wasn’t the best but the food was great, the courtyard is beautiful and the staff all worked hard to please everyone. We took part in the tour and wine tasting, which was good fun, great value, the wine was delicious and the host was excellent. We’d definitely recommend this! We purchased some wine from the shop before we left and can’t wait to open a bottle! The hotel is a great place to relax - it’s quiet and tranquil. The local town doesn’t have a lot to offer but it’s a good base if you have a car and want to travel to other towns or walk in the countryside

Our family of 4 (including 2 adult children) loved our time at the beautiful and historic villa. Didn’t get to enjoy the facilities ie gym/ spa due to shortage of time but we signed up for a wine tasting + villa tour with Daniela and Anna’s cooking class and we loved them both! Highly recommend the cooking classes if you love cooking and would like to learn authentic Italian cuisine with locally grown ingredients. We also appreciate the reception staff for arranging taxi ride to the outlet mall (15 mins by car) and to our next stop Florence. Breakfast with piping hot croissants and fresh salami and coffee are a wonderful treat to start the day. Would recommend for people who would like to stay in the countryside before heading to other cities. We would come back for our next stay in Italy. Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay Casagrande!

Beautiful!! The hotel itself is amazing, the views, the staff and the amenities on property are unbeatable. My husband and I took the cooking class with Chef Anna and it was the highlight of our trip. She made us feel at home cooking with a loved one and we will soon recreate all the recipes she gave us! They also have a delicious restaurant and wine tour/tasting that’s was great!

It is great for the people that really like roman renaissance style. Its a great little hotel with a different style, parking is easy and it is right in the middle of town with walking distance to many places. Breakfast was good and room was comfortable, its an old hotel so air conditioner was not that powerful but it was a cool night for us and a quite hotel to sleep with windows open.

Hotel actually sits close to many Tuscany locations with a lower price point and easy to get in and out for day attractions.

This was an overnight stop on way to montepulciano, we found it clean, tidy and welcoming with many amenities available. Must say that we ate at the Aqua restaurant and found it superb, although the walk up the hill was bracing.

The hotel staff was wonderful, Jonás the concierge made us feel right at home, he arrange for the car rental to be dropped off at the hotel and picked up there also.. Damon, front desk also was very helpful and nice with all of our questions... the breakfast was most excellent, with a big variety. The wine tasting tour is fun and let’s you appreciate the Villa much better.. i would definitely come back and spend some more time to use other amenities.

This is a beautiful place to stay.We felt like we were in a movie set it was so what we had hoped for, the breakfast in the courtyard was worth the stay. It was originally built in 1380 and has wonderful gardens to stroll around.The rooms were a little small but there were all kinds of other rooms with tables and chairs and comfortable couches to relax and have a glass of wine or a cocktail.

2 night stay with my son at this Hotel in Tuscany

Very nice hotel with lots of old and new features. Comfortable spacious rooms with modern bathrooms. A very steep hill to the outdoor pool and fantastic restaurant. The Wine tasting tour was well worth it with Danielle being our guide, very knowledgeable about the Villa. We didn't use the spa or indoor pool as just ran out of time. I would definitely return for longer. A car is a must to get around although there is a rail station close by.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast we huge with lots of options to choose from, and they serve it in a beautiful courtyard outside. The room was a decent size and very clean. Wifi wasn't the best in the room, and we had to reconnect often. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to do the hotel tour/wine tasting, or take the cooking class. They only offer these a few days a week, which we didn't know at the time and so missed it due to our schedule. Not a huge deal but a good idea to check ahead with them if you want to do these.

We used the outdoor pool on our last day there. It's located across the street and up a steep hill from the hotel. You have to pay 5 Euro a person for a chair for the day or bring your own towel and lay out on the grass. It does offer a nice view though, and they also serve lunch and dinner there. Alternatively you can use the chairs next to the spa and indoor pool for free at the hotel.

The town that the hotel is located in doesn't have much to offer, and it's location is at least a 20-30 minute drive to the closest Chianti town. If you are looking to tour region there might be better locations to do it from.

An amazing gem!

Not only is this a unique and beautiful hotel, it was very comfortable with an outstanding staff.
We read other reviews and requested a deluxe room based on a criticism of noise.
The room was lovely, comfortable bed and linens with extra pillows and blankets, extremely clean. The walls were thin, however, and on the second night when young people moved in next door, we could hear their conversations and laughter very clearly. They did quiet after a period of time and our sleep was not adversely affected but if this is a sensitivity, be aware.
The desk staff was amazing, giving recommendations, always responding to requests quickly and graciously. They all seemed fluent in English.
If you stay there, you should take time to explore the many hallways, passages, etc. It is like a hidden treasure. There are lounges, balconies, with common areas, etc that we almost missed. One of the desk staff said he does encourage exploration but I don't think they routinely mention it to guests.
The town of Figline Valdarno is only picturesque in the older part of town around the piazza and it doesn't offer much in terms of dining options. This is a great place to stay in Tuscany but the town itself was not as appealing as we had hoped. It is special that you can exit the hotel through a back door directly into the town. We only ate in one of the two hotel restaurants but dinner was outstanding.
Breakfast was included and was so-so. We wish we could have stayed longer!

The hotel was really modern but the room was rather dated, the shower was small and I am not a particularly big person. They have an in door pool on premise but the out door pool is across the road and up a hill and they charge for everything, so not ideal. The restaurant was beyond idyllic and the food was indescribable, I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area, take a detour if you have to, the chef was a genius. The grounds are like paradise and very scenic. I would definitely go back and I would highly recommend it. But I would suggest staying in a better quality room, ours was rather disappointing and be aware of the pool!

This is our second time staying here. Perfect location not far from The Mall heading south. Hotel is huge old villa with so many hallways and little features. Rooms comfortable and clean. Large for European standards. All decorated with big old furniture. Restaurant is great for dinner. And breakfast served in same area is also great. Typical European breakfast with fresh cappuccino.

Nicely appointed typical Tuscan villa / castille. We are younger travellers, so were given the penthouse apartment - orchidea, accesible only via two flights of stairs. Absolutely huge apartment for the price! Separate hallway, sitting room, and bedroom. Great views from up there. Spotty in-room WiFi - especially in poor weather. Clean and comfortable, great service, pool, and breakfast at an additional cost. Breakfast is totally worth it, since it includes eggs and bacon, plus typical euro fare. Would return!

The front desk staff were bland and uninterested. Informative only to a point. They had no interest in making room for us in their wine tasting even though we were there for four nights. The rooms were well appointed and clean and the house maids were very nice. The restaurant was excellent, the staff most excellent. We met the head chef and he was a delight. The pool across the road is a nice touch if you don't mind the walk up the hill. The location is great and the city centre is practically out the back door.

Charming Old World Hotel

We loved this place. Such charm and character and history. It was almost like staying at a museum. The staff especially Frederico and the lady who worked at night. They went out of their way to help us with our train tickets and getting us set up for a rental car. The restaurant was excellent all 3 times we had dinner there. I believe one of the dinners there was the best we had in Tuscany. We were even provided with extra pillows! The only hotel to provide them. The hotel was also within walking from the train station and only a 20 minute trade ride to Florence! We would absolutely stay here again if we returned to Tuscany!

All is not what it seems

the hotel is ok if a little quirky. Rooms clean and breakfast was a nice buffet.
Staff were at times a little odd and not friendly apart from lady who does breakfast. When we checked out they did not ask about our stay at all !!! More interest in a travelodge re their customers !
Big problem - outdoor pool is not at hotel but opposite it and up a hill and is 5 euros per day per bed BUT is a public on and so full of noisy kids all day (end of july we went)
Also no bar / place to sit and get tea or coffee in the day in the hotel.

Wouldn't go back.

Definitely I will stay again. Room is spacious, smartly decorated. Friendly reception. Hotel has a SPA facility, worth to try if you have time. Location is outside Florence however it is a beautiful Toscana villa, it is definitely worth to travel a little bit outside the Florence. Location is easy to find and walking distance from train station.

And attempted to help with every wish. Dinners were excellent and breakfasts were what u expect in Europe. An excellent experience if relaxing with a small town in walking distance is what you desire. Train station within walking distance if no disabilities. Only problem is getting from Florence airport

The best thing about this Hotel is its location. It is a great jump off poin to tour Chianti, Sienna and Florence. The price is right and the rooms are clean. The problem is the restaurant isn't very good and there aren't any good restaurants in town.

Hotel Villa Cassagrande is just 20 mins drive south of Florence. To stay in this hotel and see the neighbourhood is like reliving history. We used this hotel as a base to drive to Pisa, Siena, Florence and Factory Outlets. The hotel staff are very helpful, the standard room had a little musty smell but otherwise is fine. The buffet breakfast is better than average. Internet connection in the room was weak at best and that was in the bathroom.

This hotel has retained its Renaisance character combined with modern facilities and service. Figline itself is a genuine Tuscan town set on the edge of an area which is quite built up. It does have a fine square and plenty of character. The Casagrande is on the edge of the old town. It is convenient for the station (Florence in 35 minutes) and for drives to other major cities and towns throughout Tuscany. The villa is not over-restored, but has an impressive new entrance. Guests really should take the opportunity to tour the private parts of the villa. The restaurant is excellent, great food, not over-priced, good wine, outstanding service. (Wine lovers should ask Stefano for his recommendations). Overall the staff could not have been more helpful. This was our second visit after an interval of 12 years, and although much has been restored the character, authenticity and integrity remain.

great experince

Great to stay in a well kept place with so much history. Very convienvent for train access to Florence and anywhere else(20 min) Fantastic help at the front desk. I wuld definitely recomend staying there again. It is too bad they don't have a book with the history of the hotel or area. Also the food in the town piazza is great!
