The hotel is in the centre of Zutphen, 10 minutes walk from the train station, as far as I am aware, there is no other hotel in Zutphen which is so convenient. The building is old but the rooms have modern facilities.

I booked a single room which often is a double but single occupancy. This was a small single room on the ground floor. It was clean and tidy and suited what I booked but a little more space would have been more pleasant.
Having said that I would definitly book a single at this hotel again.

Excellent price-quality ratio but bad Internet
I had to stay in Zutphen for a business stopover, and this hotel was perfectly located - only a 10 minute pleasant walk from the railway station.
The hotel itself is a beautiful property which is currently being renovated. Major parts of the hotel have already been completed, but some of the rooms not yet (including mine). However, the room was adequate and clean, and there were also lots of power outlets. The bed was very comfortable, everything was in working order. My room was very quiet, and the windows were very well isolated (both for noise and temperature).
The location of the hotel in Zutphen (which itself is a very pretty town to visit) is excellent, with everything within walking distance. There are several cafés, bars, restaurants and shops in the immediate neighbourhood (but be aware that restaurants close very early in Zutphen!).
Give the price of the room, I found the price-quality ratio excellent.
Two complaints:
- [Minor] the (optional) breakfast was rather frugal. For €16.50 one could expect a bit more variety.
- [Major] the (free) Internet was very slow. As I work in the sector of the Internet business, I investigated this and discovered that the cause was a filter against adult content! Every page was obviously screened against certain parameters, and some rejected, resulting in terrible performance (Skype being impossible). I felt like I was in Iran, Saudi-Arabia or China! This is unacceptable for a European hotel!

Well managed hotel in center of historic town.
The hotel is well managed and the staff are friendly and pro-active. There are good restaurant facilities, but be aware of the Dutch tradition of eating very early in the evening. (If you have travelled for hours to get there, don't expect to have dinner in Zutphen much after 21-00!).
The rooms are quiet and of reasonable size. Minus points are foam filled pillows and in our room a quite ineffective shower. The decor throughout the hotel is somber and rather 'tired'.

We found the hotel clean and being in the centre of town, it was great to hire bikes and tour round the streets! We would stay here again!

Zutpen is beautiful and on weekends your are entertained by bells from the three village churches. Friendly people. The Hampshire Hotel has two excellent restaurants and across the square is a Michelin starred restaurant. The hotel staff is efficient. Regretfully the room at the hotel was not up to the surroundings. Clean, but not in the best of condition. Internet was not available in the room unless you had an ethernet port. I was disappointed.

This hotel was quite lovely. It took us a bit to find it because it is near the City but the location itself was not too bad when we found it. You get the elegant feeling as you entered the hotel, reception a was quite inviting. The spa and sauna were refreshing, the breakfast was delicious and the restaurant has a romantic ambiance. I love everything about this hotel and I would have extended my stay except they were fully booked. I recommende this hotel highly for the price that I got it for it was a special bargain. Nice hotel, clean and friendly in the town centre. Room and beds were excelent. The paper hanky dispenser in the bathroom was broken when we arrived. Pity thet the only parking spot at the hotel was so expensive, we parked a 10 min. walk away which was OK for us.

Enigszins gedateerde (comfort) room. Erg laag toilet. Krappe kamer. Smalle gangen. Om 10:00 uur moet het ontbijt naar binnen zijn gewerkt, dus een keertje uitslapen is er niet bij. Tijdens ons verblijf werd er buiten geschilderd waardoor er een hoge steiger en hoogwerker voor het raam stonden... Hadden we graag van te voren geweten...

Het was niet schoon. Tv smartTV geblokkeerd. Niet passeren, steamen, enz. Kortom zwaar verouderd waterkoker vol kalkaanslag, tandpasta op de badkamervloer en zelfs een dopje op de grond. Kamer in zijvleugel, aanbouw en gedateerd. Kortom geen waarde voor je geld. Veel te duur voor wat je krijgt.

Mooi oud hotel. Ik had een eenpersoonskamer. Minimaal ingericht. Ik miste een föhn. De doucheruimte: heel klein. Iemand met obesitas zou zich niet kunnen omdraaien. De wc-rol hing aan de verkeerde kant. Als ik een papiertje moest pakken, trok ik gelijk door omdat dan mijn rug tegen de spoeling kwam. Niet zo handig. En...het kost veel water. Geen beschrijving hoe de airco werkt, hoe het raam opengaat. De wifi viel steeds weg, zodat ik in 2 dagen 2x beltegoed op mijn telefoon moest zetten (€25.) Een klerin prullenbakje op elke ontbijttafel zou reuze handig zjn...Het ontbijt was overigens prima! Verder heb ik geen klachten. Reuze vriendelijk personeel.

Uit de douche kwam zo'n kleine straal dat het niet mogelijk was om onze haren te wassen. De kamer was voorzien van een Nespresso-apparaat, maar niet van een waterkoker.

Mooi hotel in het centrum van Zutphen. Vanaf 18:00 kan je gratis parkeren. Het restaurant is ok, je hebt tot laat basic tapas. Een van de hotelmedewerkers is kortaf en ronduit onbeleefd, maar dat geldt niet voor de rest. Misschien had hij zijn dag niet. Verder mogen de kamers wat meer opgevrolijkt worden. Beetje saai. Ik vroeg een extra kussen en zag door de deur dat de beddenjuf de kussensloop met de kussen op de grond aan het wisselen was! Puntje hygiëne en scholing van het personeel lijkt me! Maar voor de rest wel schone kamers. Neem een badslipper mee, want de vloer kan glad zijn.
Tip: iets verderop lopen dan heb je een Italiaans restaurant Vaticano met beter eten dan het hotel restaurant!

Wij kregen kamer 246. In de kamer kon je, als je van de ene kant naar de andere kan van de kamer wilde, niet rechtop lopen. Je moest iedere keer bukken voor een balk (om letsel aan je hoofd te voorkomen). Voor een hotel met 4 sterren is dit ongehoord.
Tevens stond de douche blank, zodra je had gedoucht. Dit bleek, nij navraag, bekend bij de receptie en het commentaar was dat er al eens naar gekeken was. Nou, daar schiet je wat mee op!

Dit hotel ziet er op de plaatjes prachtig uit en de algemene gedeeltes zijn daarmee ook wel in overeenstemming. De meeste kamers zitten echter in een aangebouwd gedeelte en zijn ronduit saai te noemen. De sfeer op de kamers sluit zeker niet aan bij de externe uitstraling van het hotel.
De faciliteiten op de kamers zelf waren in orde, alleen hadden wij pech dat we net in een weekend met harde oostenwind in het hotel verbleven. De radiator op de kamer was daar niet op toegerust.

Die Zimmer wurden komplett renoviert und sind in dementsprechenden Zustand. Die Betten sind gut. Der Empfang an der Rezeption ist freundlich, jedoch ist der Service in der Tapas Bar eher zurückhaltend und es wird einem ziemlich offensichtlich zu verstehen gegeben, wenn der geplante Feierabend naht.
