I stayed here with two of my friends for the last leg of our Costa Rica trip to celebrate my 40th birthday and cannot say enough good things about this hotel! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We also had a gorgeous patio as well as a rooftop terrace, which was wonderful for enjoying coffee in the mornings and watching the macaws 🤗

Our personal concierge, Stephanie, was incredibly helpful and communicative during our stay. She checked in on us each day and helped to coordinate dinner reservations in town, taxi rides and even a private cooking class onsite for us at the hotel! ☺️

The hotel is beautifully positioned at the top of a hill, with excellent views of the ocean, and wildlife. We saw macaws everyday, as well as toucans and parakeets. I highly recommend taking the complimentary scarlet macaw tour on the property to learn more about the native wildlife. We saw three sloths on our tour, including a mom +baby!

If you are visiting Manuel Antonio, I highly recommend booking your stay at Gaia!

Lovely stay at the Gaia Hotel. The location is ideal and the staff was very helpful. The restaurant was excellent and accommodated my gluten issue.

Gorgeous sunset views from the bar at the top of the resort. Because the resort ascends up the hill, there are lots of stone tile steps that can be tricky to navigate. Watch your step.

Be sure to tour Manuel Antonio National Park (reserve a ticket in advance) and go to the swimmable beach in the park. The beach closest to the resort has strong currents. Be careful and listen to the lifeguards and don't go out beyond your waist.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay. The service was exceptional and the staff could not have been more attentive throughout my time at the hotel (organising activities, in the restaurant and generally just checking in to make sure everything was okay). The rooms are not the most beautiful, but the grounds of the hotel and the reserve are stunning. The wildlife on site is incredible. There is a very handy shuttle bus that takes you to the national park and the beach which was very efficient and convenient.

The breakfast was made to order and could include bacon every day if you want it which is unusual in Costa Rica. Decent quality. We found the food at dinner to be mediocre to poor. We had a very bad experience ordering churrasco the meat was mostly inedible. Food prices are very high at GAIA, but there are good local restaurants. In some way to serve with remarkable good as we were assigned a concierge who we could contact anytime by texting on WhatsApp and that was very nice. Also, the owners introduced himself and were very friendly and potentially helpful. The room was nice but so expensive that I could not call it a good value.

The property was absolutely gorgeous. Having cocktails on 3rd floor watching the sunset was stunning. The entire staff was very attentive to our needs.

We were a little disappointed with our dinner in the restaurant. Our meals were very over cooked.

We were grateful that the staff prepared a to- go breakfast for us each morning since we had early excursions, however, the sandwiches and pastries were a little on the stale side.

This resort would be exceptional with a few small changes to the food they offer.

Great breakfast menu selection with large portions, there’s even eggs benedict! All of the staff were amazing, we received the best service here of all the places we’ve stayed at in Costa Rica. You can spot macaws and monkeys across the property. The restaurant has a stunning view. Would definitely return!

Came to Costa Rica for my anniversary trip.

The Hotel Gaia was a pleasant experience. Overall the staff was wonderful! Never waited for answers. They were always right there with answers. I've been in the hospitality business for 31 years so I appreciate EXCELLENT service, and that it was.

The room was very nice also. The complimentary breakfast made waking up early easy.

It was just a short drive away from plenty of restaurants and shopping. The hotel offered free shuttle to the nearby beach and national park which we took full advantage of.

Overall, I have to say the hotel experience was wonderful!

Tours booked via the hotel were excellent and we appreciated the recourse when one of our tours did not work out. Really loved the upper sunset deck. Restaurant was decent. Pool lovers may be disappointed with the pool.

Overall it was underwhelming. The photos make it appear much nicer than it really is. Quite rundown in areas, and virtually no frills in the bar or restaurant area. Food quality was decent - sushi was the best thing we ate. Overall it seems like it was an updated resort back in the day but has not been kept up.

This hotel is not a 5-star experience. The pool is at best uninviting, it’s very tired and not really usable. The room smelt of bleach on arrival although that did fade over the few days we were there. The staff were friendly and the spa was great, but the concierge service (via WhatsApp) didn’t really work as it wasn’t responsive enough. The room design leaves a lot to be desired. It’s ok, but not 5-star.

My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It was supposed to have an ocean view but really did not have even a partial ocean view. Aside from that everything was excellent, service was great, breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were delicious, and the view from the pool was lovely. We had nice treatments from the spa as well. I enjoyed the birds on the property and especially appreciated the Scarlet macaw and rehabilitation program and reserve on the property.

We stayed in room 121 which is a perfect location for the pool and for the restaurant and spa. Room was very comfortable and spacious. The shower was super! complimentary shower gel, shampoo and conditioner daily. I had a massage and a facial on two different days. Very good. The Restaurant was also excellent with many offerings. I had sushi twice and it was fresh and delicious! Upstairs is a lounge/bar where people gather before dinner to watch the sunset. Each room gets a consierge that helps you with anything and everything. They will make your reservation at the spa and any excursions and also help with reservations to outside restaurants and transportation. I did the coffee, chocolate and spices tour which was very educational about local farming and we were also treated to some wonderful chocolate and coffee and a lunch! My husband and I did an ATV tour which was just that. We rode on ATV's for 2 hours and saw a small waterfall. We were hoping to see some wildlife but did not. It is basically riding an ATV. I would highly recommend this hotel for its service, food and spa. The view is also awesome especially at sunset. It is about a 10 min. shuttle ride from the hotel to the public beach which is very nice.

Everysingle staff member was kind, helpful and positive. They were genuinely thoughtful and went out of their way to help with anything needed. The room was incredibly clean, the view was stunning, the pool was fresh and not overcrowded. All of the meals were delicious, (mahi mahi ceviche was out of this world) we enjoyed every breakfast (large portion), it came with various fresh fruit, homemade bread and coffee, latte or cappucino. Jack and Abraham our servers were so kind! We enjoyed the golfcart rides to the main road, the drivers made us feel like friends, Jose, Walter,Oscar,Anthony, (all of them)imprinted positive memories on our hearts! The owner was cheerful and kind, greeting us regulary, making us feel right at home. The views from everywhere were spectacular! We especially enjoyed watching the sunsets, whether it be from the infinity pool, dinner, our balcony, or most memorably, from the rooftop, listening to music, having appetizers and delicious drinks! We took a fabulous tour of the rainforest with Clarence, his knowledge on the animals, wildlife and plantlife was impressive, he showed us macaws, a sloth and different species throughout the hike that is included in the stay! Our concierge Edson was amazing! He set up excursions, shuttles, taxis, special meal requests, answered questions and always stayed kind, thoughtful and helpful. Overall it was a trip of a lifetime that we will cherish for a lifetime!

The property in on steep land, but transportation is available 24/7 via golf cart and the staff respond quickly. There are many amenities. First, the concierge staff are top notch. Johansy made sure all of our needs were met and she went above and beyond to do so. For example, when we found out the mini bar service was no longer offered, she helped us order snacks and drinks to be delivered from a grocery store to have in our room.

Second, the resort provides its' own guides for the Manuel Antonio National Park. We arranged to have a private tour due to my mobility limitations. We had Clarence Whittaker as our guide, and he was so patient, friendly and helpful, he pushed me in a wheelchair, UPHILL and over gravel and rocks. He was incredible. And of course, he was an excellent, knowledgeable guide. I cannot say enough about him. There is also a free tour of the hotel's own nature reserve, but we didn't go on it.

The food at the restaurant is excellent. The included breakfast is very generous. All the wait staff were friendly and attentive. The view is gorgeous and we watched the sun set from the restaurant and Sky Bar every night. We heard howler monkeys and toucans. The drinks were delicious and not overly sweet like in the US.

Our room was lovely, comfortable and clean and it had nice amenities too, like delicious coffee, a sitting area, an outdoor sitting area and a luxurious shower with multiple nozzles. The housekeeping staff were wonderful and accommodating.

It’s a nice property with a good rooftop bar and restaurant. The staff is super nice and friendly. My only gripe is that they try very hard to be upscale that at times becomes too much. For example, the check in process of choosing shampoos and getting the tour is a bit much. They also assign you a concierge that you can message for anything at anytime (or the concierge will message you to see if you need anything), which is nice but also seems like overkill. In general the hotel was great though. Would recommend it.

We have stayed at the Gaia two times before. We love it every time. This time it seemed a bit of the mark though. The toilet paper roll was loose and wouldn’t stay up, the shower drain was plugged( they fixed after a day), and the rooftop bar was not open the first couple days we were there. The breakfast was also lit as good as it used to be. Still a good and free breakfast but not what I looked forward to each time. Staff is always very attentive and willing to help any way they can. Our concierge was also in constant contact with any issues and even got us a spa spot on a rainy day even when they said they were full when we called. We stayed in a suite with balcony. This is a plus on rainy days as we sometimes just sat and watched the wildlife from our balcony

My husband and I stayed at Gaia after I found it online, and WOW- the ratings and photos didn’t even come close to preparing us for what awaited. I’ve truly never experienced a hotel like this before.

From the breathtaking views to being surrounded by jungle, national park, and a macaw refuge, Gaia feels like something out of a dream. But what truly sets it apart is the people who run it. Every single staff member is attentive to every detail. It’s as if they anticipate your needs before you even realize them yourself.

Our personal concierge, Catalina, made everything effortless. Alessio, our dinner waiter, and Anthony, who took care of us at breakfast, were equally wonderful, warm, thoughtful, and genuinely kind. Their care isn’t just part of their job, but it’s who they are as people. Because of them, we felt immersed in Costa Rican hospitality and culture in a way that words can’t quite capture.

Catalina helped us plan amazing excursions: a guided tour of Manuel Antonio, a 90 minute couples massage on-site, and a breathtaking waterfalls tour that became one of our favorite memories. With only about 20 guests on the property, everything felt intimate and serene. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted, upgraded to a beautiful room, and made to feel at home right away.

And then there’s La Luna, the on-site restaurant that completely blew us away. After trying several restaurants in the area, this was easily our favorite. Thank you Alessio for all the wonderful

We had an incredible stay! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and safe. (They go the extra mile by calling you by name anytime you interact with them.)

The rooms were spotless, spacious, and so comfortable, with thoughtful touches like espresso machines and a personalized selection of toiletries. Amenities were top-notch, including the 24-hour golf cart service, a beautiful pool with excellent swim-up bar service, and a relaxing spa experience.

The concierge, Gary, was fantastic—always quick to respond and genuinely helpful.

La Luna was a highlight as well, with delicious food, a wonderful atmosphere, and attentive staff.

The hotel also offers a shuttle to Manuel Antonio National Park, which is such a nice convenience—after driving ourselves this time, we’ll definitely take the van on our next visit.

Beautiful Hotel. Excellent service! Parked and immediately greeted by the host who called a shuttle to take us up to the lobby. On the way we stopped to see a sloth in the trees as well as a pair of macaws. They took our luggage and guided us into the restaurant with amazing views. They had pre prepared cocktails for us, a eucalyptus wet towel, and went over their amenities and services they provide. The room was very spacious, clean, incredibly comfortable .pool was great. We saw about a dozen spider moneys in the trees 20’ from the pool area. Restaurant service was top notch and the food was delicious. Breakfast was 10/10! Highly recommend. I would absolutely go back. They also provide free shuttle service to Manuel Antonio park and the beach every hour of the day

Upon arrival you’re driven on the golf cart to the top of a rainforest. If you watch carefully you can spot sloths, monkeys, and amazing birds. Our villa was the perfect arrangement for our family and gave us a great place to relax. The master balcony had morning closeup vies if a sweet Scarlet McCaw couple. You could spot monkeys and toucans from the roof terrace. Cabana and dining area on roof were added extra. Staff was super attentive and helpful. Restaurant and especially breakfast was absolutely AMAZING as were the frozen cocktails and lunch and dinner too. Please see my review for La Luna. Pool was fun with midday frozen cocktail treats (mocktails too!). Beds and sheets were perfect for helping us rest. Went in McCaw tour and hike for breathtaking view and hotel arranged for friendly and informative tour guide, Clarence, at the MApark where he helped us photograph wildlife and told us facts and tidbits about the animals. Very enjoyable! Hotel does keep tabs on your arrivals/departures but you soon realize it so they can clean your room and make sure you cone back and don’t go MIA on a hike or tour if you venture on your own. Great stay, relaxing and welcoming. Definitely go back someday!

Gaia was the oasis I needed for a quick getaway! The property was serene, and the service was top notch. Our Concorde, Daniela, went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing stay! All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. We definitely enjoyed our stay!

The property at GAIA hotel was truly a tropical paradise nestled in the rainforest. The views are amazing, the spa relaxing and the rooms were spaced to allow privacy and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff at GAIA is what made our time in Costa Rica a bespoke experience which was so memorable. The onsite restaurant, La Luna, offered delicious meals and the wait staff were very personable and professional. The Scarlet Macaw rehabilitation facility based on the property is another example of how the owner and team at GAIA care deeply about the environment and culture of Costa Rica. Thank you for an amazing experience!!

By far the best hotel experience I've ever had. Truly luxury! The rooms and property were stunning, my massage was immaculate (thank you Jenny), and the sushi at dinner was the best I've ever had. But the amenities and service are what really set this place apart. All the staff were so attentive and eager to ensure an outstanding experience. In particular, Gary went above and beyond to make sure we got the most out of our stay and made everything as effortless as possible. I think I've been ruined for all other hotels. This is the standard we all deserve!

Gorgeous property, felt like luxury in the middle of the jungle. Our room was great - the shower is nice & gives you the option to open the sliding window & look at nature while you shower. We are not usually pool users but we loved the pools at Gaia & used them everyday. The drinks & food were above average & all of the staff were exceptional - patient & kind to us, remembering my husband & I by name. The hotel offers a free tour by the Macaw reserve & through the forest with Clarence - what a lovely guide & experience! The transportation to & from your room is via golf cart - this was no issue but something to be aware of. Overall a wonderful experience - would stay again in a heartbeat.

Loved the welcome drink & property orientation. On-site food was fine although cocktails were kind of weird. Room was nice - the shower was amazing. Pool was teeny and difficult to walk around (must step across decorative waterfall). Extremely steep paths all around the property - not for anyone with any mobility issues. Really appreciated the shuttle to Manuel Antonio. Staff was friendly.

Great property, great staff, Jose was our concierge. He was excellent. Johnny was helpful at the pool and Ricardo did a great job in the restaurant. Staff pointed some amazing animals for us and we saw beautiful views of macaws and sloths. Clarence’s tour of the property was incredible and extremely informative.

The staff and owner at this property went above and beyond anything I have ever experienced at a hotel. They treated my husband and I like royalty. Our every need was met, we were given a fresh juice drink and warm wash cloth upon arrival. It was amazing, as were the gorgeous surroundings and wildlife .

Gaia Hotel is a stunning mountain resort that offers breathtaking ocean views and exceptional service. The rooms provide comfort and style, on-site restaurant serves delicious dishes, we ordered the the bbq ribs and eggs benedict. The infinity pool is a cool spot to relax, with panoramic views of the rainforest.

One of the highlights of our stay was the attentive service provided by the staff, particularly by Ada, who ensured that every need was met. Guests are assigned personal concierges, which adds a personalized touch to the experience.

My wife and I stayed a week at GAIA and it was AMAZING! Upon arriving at the property the staff was fantastic. They greeted us by name once we entered the gate and brought us up to reception where we were met with a VIP experience. Alex and Stephanie were beyong accomodating and went above and beyond. They setup all of our activities and made all the necessary accommodations including transportation. They even sent me all the details to make sure I had all the right info. Then they followed up with us to make sure everything went well.
They set us up on a park tour with our guide Clarence who was phenomenal! He was not only informative but tremendously skilled at his job as well. He helped my wife get amazing pictures of the wildlife and was a pleasure to talk to. Clarence as well was our guide for the Macaw tour and we were given a top notch tour once again.
The restaurant staff was superb to say the least. Ricardo, Steven, Adam, Andre, and Steven from Columbia were phenomenal hosts and made us feel like family. The service was second to none. We were made to feel welcome and all our needs were attended to. The food was wonderful and we couldn't of asked for a better experience. Boris the owner would even come greet us at breakfast in the mornings to say hello and make sure we were enjoying our stay.
My wife and I loved this trip to Manuel Antonio and a big reason we did was because of the staff and our stay at Gaia. The property was beautiful and amazing.
