Simple, clean, great pool, good continental breakfast. Great walkable location near the beach and restaurants. Small elevator - like most boutique hotels in Europe- but should be prepared to take baggage up stairway. Had trouble with mosquitoes in our room early October- left the sliding door vented for air overnight- wrong move. Would definitely stay there again- good for the price.

This property has been around for a long time. It shows its age, but is well maintained and the included breakfast is quite good. No toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner or body lotion provided in the rooms, so bring your own if you are staying for longer than a few nights. Pool area is lovely, but be aware that this property hosts events. While we were there a large children’s birthday party happened, so the music was loud all afternoon and there were a lot of people on the grounds. This hotel is located across the street from the ocean, beaches and on the main strip were there are many restaurants to choose from.

Even if is rated 3 star hotel, with no elevator, I don,t think can be a real 3 star. The electricity is working only with a room key connected to general switch. Every time you open the balcony door AC stop, lights also, very inconvenient.

This was a horrible hotel to stay at.. my trip to this hotel was very unfortunate not very memorable… the hotel staff was very unfriendly didn’t show very much customer service or hospitality when we arrive to the hotel. The room they provided with us. The air-conditioning was broken, they didn’t have a new batteries for the remote control so the TV wouldn’t turn on, the shower was broken that the rain shower wasn’t working. This was a really bad experience. I don’t recommend staying here.

Property was right near the beach and close to restaurants and shops. The only downside was we stayed on the second floor of the older part of the property and getting to our room was not an easy task as there were only stairs to get to the 2nd floor and a few ramps just to get to these steps. For anyone disabled, this would not be suitable.

We found the overall experience lacking due to the condition of the facilities.
The rooms are in serious need of renovation. The furniture and decor felt outdated, and the bedding showed visible signs of wear. The bathrooms could also benefit from a refresh.
With some much-needed upgrades, this hotel has the potential to be far more enjoyable.

We reserve last minute and were able to get a room. If you want a lively place for the weekend this is your spot. They closed the streets surrounding the hotel and nearby hotels for partying all night long. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommended.

Our second time staying here. Lovely location. Great restaurants nearby. Parking is easy this time of year which is unusual for Greece.. pool area is also quite nice. Only pain of the room situation is the key cars controlling room power. Good to save energy, but when you are out of the room with your ke, the power is off to the refrigerator.

Horrible room, bed and noisy location

This property is aweful...bed is horible. We would have been better off sleeping in our car. The mattress is thin, hard and yiu feel all the springs. Zero comfort in the place and the noise all night from the street traffic was horrible! It was impossible to sleep here. BTW the breakfast meats were old and had different colors, eating here will get you sick!

It was very smelly (septic)! Bedding and curtains tattered. Trees on property were overgrown blocking view of pool and the sea. Our room had a “view” of the back of the restaurant, we paid extra to have a pool view. Bathroom door didn’t close. Furniture was water stained and warped. Listing on hotels.com said rooms were soundproofed and they were far from it! Don’t bother booking this hotel, search on.

Maybe 7 minutes walk to the supermarket if needed
The sea is right there too , can see from the balcony though the bigger well organized with food and all beaches are a drive away. But a short drive . If you just want a beach without restaurants- it’s right there , cross the street .

Very fun stay! The pool is nice and the flowers on the balconies and inside the resort are so pretty.
Staff could be a little more proactive (we asked for balcony door to be fixed and when we asked to play tennis, they said they were out of tennis balls.) In the end we bought some at the kiosk right outside the hotel and left them there.
Breakfast was good, nice to sit outside near the pool.
All in all a great time!

We loved our stay here and all the staff at the hotel made our stay so much better, everyone was SO helpful and kind, and their English is excellent.
We had a room overlooking the pool and sea with a large balcony which was lovely. The room has a fridge and looks newly renovated as it is very clean. We didn't have a kettle but asked at reception and they found one for us and some cups to use.
The pool area is beautiful and well maintained by the maintenance teams, and there is a bar open from 10am and snacks available throughout the day (try the club sandwich, it is amazing) There is also drinking water available so you don't need to buy plastic bottled water.
The sea is just outside the hotel, across the road, it's a small beach, but there is shade available and the water is absolutely crystal clear and great for snorkeling. There's a small kiosk shop there as well selling drinks and snacks and ice creams.

The local bars and restaurants all along the harbour front are all excellent and great value. Average €40-€50 for a meal for two with starters and drinks.

I highly recommend an early run/walk along the coast to Marathon. It's a good 3k run before you run out of path and the sunrise around 5:45-6am is absolutely spectacular. If you continue 1k inland you can visit the Tumulus of the Athenians. It costs €6 to go in and walk around or you can see the mound/tomb from the fence.

We booked the hotel at the last minute, only a few minutes after booking, when we saw the room we canceled it and left. The rooms are dirty, lack of maintenance, but mainly you can smell the humidity and mold, our room also smelled of cigarettes. In addition, the hotel did not agree to the cancellation of the reservation, even if it lasted only a few minutes, and demanded payment of the full price. Probably the worst experience with accommodation in Greece...

Tired hotel. Hotel room is cold with pebble floor, not particularly clean. Bathroom only has dispenser for shower gel/shampoo. Furniture is worn out and dirty. Buffet dinner was dried out and unappetizing. Hotel staff were not particularly helpful and very slow.

The beach aspect is nice, I however came in a wether front rainy and windy, the town is sleepy and people stay to themselves. The hotel was fine, older but in good condition. I however did not appreciate the staff, from short changing me when making change for me, to overcharging for services, tip: everything they supply you with is 50 euros & up, your better off to plan your own taxis to Athens or other areas you might travel too or take the city bus.

Our stay overall was good, only dissapointment was we asked for a quiet room and were assured it was, but we were next to a restUrant in the hotel that played very loud music till 2 am. When we complained at 11pm we were told we had to pay for a more expensive room on the other side of the hotel. Very disappointing.

Wonderful resort in a quiet quaint town on coast

We had a great time. The service was awesome. Front desk always helpful. Extra pillows came 1 min after asking for them! Our room was #29 first floor. Quiet and very close to the pool. The AC worked well, the beds are comfortable, tv had English Chanels only at night. The only thing I don't like was the room was not that clean. The floor is some sort of rocks, like outside, which never really gets clean. I had to leave towels on the floor to feel germ free. The pool is really nice! The breakfast was just ok. But don't be late,they take everything away at 10am. You can walk to the beach in 5 min. Plenty of restaurants there. Or walk into town, at the square for yummy gyros and waffles. We also went to see a movie at the local outdoor movie theatre for 6 euros each. We also rented bikes but they are all very old and falling apart with low airin the tiers. Not worth 12 euros. They should be free to take for the guest, that's how low quality they are. But I would say this place is great. I'd stay again.

We stayed here our last night in Greece. The resort is located about 40 minutes from the airport. The hotel is really nice - wonderful salt water pool, great location steps from the beach. We found the beds to be very comfortable- high quality mattresses. Lots of great restaurant choices within walking distance.

Second time we’ve stayed at the Marathon and it seems not to be as good as it once was. The rooms are basic as are the hotel facilities, no tea or coffee making facilities, the buffet breakfast was limited, with little choice and the same every day. However, the staff are very friendly and helpful, which made a difference. As far as the immediate area around the hotel and village somewhat run down and little to do, but Athens is easy to get to (by local bus and then the metro).

Our unit had one of those electric swipe door openers, which didn't work and while they did give me a key nobody was available to check the door. Very noisy location for our unit, just opposite a bar with live music. Excellent breakfast. Desk staff was helpful in printing boarding pass.

This was our second stay at the hotel..The receptionist was very helpful and changed our room as we wanted a room close to the sea...Some rooms are rather minimal and could perhaps do with refurbishment but the building at the front is nicer.
The breakfast is plentiful..buffet style but the hot food choice was cold...and needed a bit of variety..eggs ,bacon and cheese pie get boring to eat every day!
Moreover our room was very noisy on Saturday night due to there being a bar downstairs.. at 2 am we complained and they immediately lowered the volume a bit but still for a big hotel it wasn't acceptable.
Overall, I am not sure I will stay there for a 3rd visit..

Clean and nice hotel

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We rented a car from the airport and reached the hotel in 30 mins.
I'm a clean freak, but everything was white and really clean, so I didn't have to worry about anything. The room had a comfortable bed and a small balcony which was nice. The wifi was a bit spotty in the room. The breakfast buffet was simple, but good and fresh. The restaurant staff at breakfast were very friendly and offered us Greek coffee which was awesome. I would definitely return to this hotel if I visit again.

The room was fine but a little bare fine if it was hot and sunny but it was grey and chilly!. Breakfast was good. Staff helpful. The problem with staying off season is that the restaurant was closed although there was a very good Greek restaurant next door. We found it quite difficult to find in the dark a lit hotel sign would have helped.

Took us over 2 hrs to get there. Not marked nor available by the name to pinpoint location. Google earth and Waze, on 2 different phones sent us in circles and assumptions in the Marathona, Atiki areas.
We came for a short night stay, so can't speak much on breakfast not cafilities.
One thing- The best mattress we've had in all our 8 nights stay i the diff hotels across Greece. Great thick towels and nice toiletries.
I did not like the flooring in the room, wasn't sure if it was clean even and felt uncomfortable walking on it. It may look \"in\" design-wise. I felt I was walking a sidewalk.
Since we left early, we received a take-out bag with breakfast at 6am. Nice touch (you need to request it if you leave early)
It was about 15 miles from the airport, so that was OK

Fine for an overnight stay

We stayed at the Marathon Beach for one night on our way back from the islands. I chose it because it came up as being close to Rafina although it was about 13 kilometres away and in the wrong direction for the airport. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable. Decor very basic and the shower only ok. The pool area was very nice and the pool bar serves excellent cocktails. We ate in one of the 3 restaurants, which was mediocre at best. Breakfast was uninspiring and the room full of flies.

Terrible Breakfast, near beach is not clean

If you decided to stay at this place - don't book TRANSFER!!
We made this mistake, booked transfer from the airport at 7:00, but transfer came at 8:00, when i called, they said driver will come in 20 minutes with plate (our name on it), but he didn't have any plate and came after 1 hour, just said sorry it was busy traffic (what kind of traffic can be on Sunday morning??) - I think they just forgot about us. After all this hotel took from us 35 Euro for this sort of transfer, on terrible car with bearded and terrifying driver. (Taxi will cost you 30 Euro)
Breakfast is worst ever!! I want to send message to this hotel cook - you suck! this is not a bacon!! I think prison food is better than one you cooked.
Just be ready to meet a lot of flies, which already ate your breakfast. Terrible coffee and juices. I never tasted such awful omelet. I have good news for you Guest of this hotel - you will eat vegetables and fruits all week ( cucumber, tomato and watermelon).
Loud music in the room all night! Don't forget to take something to plug your ears.
Hotel can rent you terrible bikes for 12 euros a day!
Don't expect to spend time near a swimming pool - bad idea. All sun beds will be taken by early birds. Don't forget to wake up early in the morning (8-9:00) and place your towel on the sun bed. Guests of the hotel don't lie on them. It's obligatory to take one for all day! and hotel employees don't do anything about it.

The hotel staff were all lovely and couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. We honestly couldn't speak more highly of them.The room was immaculate and we all enjoyed the breakfasts. You may need to hire a car here tho if staying for more than a few days as not that much to do outside of pool and beach.

Best stay in Greece

Loved this place! We had just gotten in from Santorini and wanted to spend our last night away from Athens. This couldnt have been a better place. Its a block away from the coast, and there are some good restaurants within walking distance. This is one of the bigger rooms and showers that we encountered while we were in Greece.

Friendly Staff Make The Difference

We stayed at MBR for 2 weeks in May 2016. Everything was done with professional and friendly attention to detail from the driver waiting for us at the Athens airport to an amazing front desk staff that took care of our every need, to the prompt and courteous room staff that kept our room clean and tidy and to the pool bar and restaurant staff that were amazing - friendly, helpful, personable, and fun. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Greece and the Marathon Beach Resort staff made all the difference!

Great and affordable

The hotel is recently refurbished and is very clean. It's in a great little location of Nea Makri, surrounded by cafes and places to eat.

Very easy to get to athens as well. A short 30 minute bus ride, followed by 30 mins on the subway, or alternatively, about 35 euros to get a taxi.

The staff made it though. The reception staff were very warm, welcoming and helpful, and the bar staff were excellent. They were full of chat and very entertaining. Definitely made us spend more time at the bar than we would have otherwise.

Would definitely recommend this location.

Good hotel with a car without it it's a trap

Quite a decent hotel complicated air conditioning didn't work at all first day but it took staff a day to sort it out which was bad other than that the area is far from the airport there is no public transport available from the airport which is bad so only good if you can drive and the beach is not a beach it's just a coast but not far from actual beaches so it's good if you drive if not then I won't recommend it at all

Great hotel close to everything

A trek to the centre of Athens (but Athens is a day trip anyhow) next to nice beaches and great food. The hotel itself is very very nice with fantastic staff. Will definitely return
