We had such a wonderful stay at the Argyle Guest House in Tomintoul. The owners were warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, taking the time to chat with us and share great local tips about nearby trails, what was open during the \"off\" season, and what's accessible from town. Even though our room faced the main street that runs through Tomintoul, the space was incredibly quiet.

This b&b is also fantastic for anyone traveling with a dog. Our pup was treated like a guest too, with extra food + water bowls, a towel, and even a jar of treats waiting for him in the room. It made traveling with our dog completely stress-free and so enjoyable.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious (especially the hollandaise!). If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in the Cairngorms, whether with dogs or on your own, we can’t recommend the Argyle Guest House highly enough. We’ll definitely be back!

This place is an adorable bed and breakfast. Diana is communicative and accommodating, just message through the app and she answers immediately. They had a lil whisky waiting on arrival which was great because this is on the whisky trail. I would only suggest dealing with some upholstery stains on the cute furniture to have a flawless stay.

We received the most inhospitable greeting upon arrival. The choice of breakfast times were 0700, 0730, 0800 or 0830. We normally don’t like to set an alarm clock to have breakfast on vacation. You could feel the metal coils of the mattress poking you in bed. I would not stay here again. I’ve been to almost fifty countries and felt very unwelcome here.

A great break in the Scottish mountains

A very friendly welcome from Diane, the owner. Who showed me the room and how everything worked. There was plenty of information available on local attractions but the best was just talking to Diane herself.
A good breakfast. They are proud of their porridge ( and rightly so ) sets you up for the day. There are places in the village to get food. This is a small village so no high street brands but whilst more restricted in the winter months there is still a choice.
With a free public car park opposite and the freedom to come and go as you please, this is a good choice for a more rural break in the Cairngorms.
It’s probably worth mentioning that this is probably the nearest guest house to the Lecht ski centre (however they don’t promise snow)

Great breakfast and continental spread! Room was cozy and very comfortable. Ate at the pub on the corner at night. Theee restaurants in this small town to choose from but a great base to get to whiskey distilleries and the Carigorn Mountains. We stayed in September and the stores close early (3ish) and restaurants close around (8ish)

Dianne and Stephen were wonderful hosts.
You are welcomed warmly and feel like a member of the family as soon as you walk in the door.
The beds were amazingly comfortable and the whole guest house was impeccably clean.
The breakfast choices are many and the food is 5 star. I had the Eggs Benedict and some of Stephens famous Scottish Oatmeal.
I was sad to leave and will be back for sure. ❤️

Diane was an absolutely fantastic host. My partner and I were in Tomintoul stargazing for an evening and loved staying here.

The room was in excellent condition and was a good size for the pair of us and our dog to stay in. Diane was very knowledgeable about the local area and gave great recommendations on where to go.

In the morning we had a lovely home cooked breakfast, they were very considerate of our dietary restrictions and cooked us fantastic vegan and vegetarian breakfasts. Thanks Steve! Overall 10/10.

Argyle guest House is situated in a small friendly village right on the doorstep of the beautiful Cairngorms.
Steve & Diane are fabulous hosts, with plenty of local knowledge and information.
Our room was absolutely amazing. Comfy king size bed, seating area & large en-suite bathroom, with shower over bath. The room had everything we needed with some added little touches like Bubble-bath, Hand Lotion, & some lovely scented hand soap. The village has a local pub with friendly staff and great food. There is also a village shop with all your essentials and more. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. 10/10.

Well located in the village. Friendly welcome although contact was limited because of COVID. Room was comfortable and in good condition. No cooked breakfast at the moment but this was more than made up for by a really excellent and substantial continental breakfast delivered to room. Tremendous value. Definitely recommended.

Tomintoul itself is a small village with plenty of things to do or see but remember quite a few of them are seasonal so either do your research or just phone Diane and check - she’s very knowledgable about what’s on in the area

A wonderful place to spend the night after a long day of driving, and an excellent breakfast in the morning! We wish we could have spent more time there, but had to be on the road the next morning. It's a beautiful little town too, with several good options for dining in the center. It's nice being able to walk everywhere, too!
