Receptionist abruptly told us we couldn’t check in until 3pm, which we knew but went there earlier to have some lunch.
When we did get into our room there was a pair of gloves, hair clip, inhaler and tissues left by tv. Took them to reception and they apologised and would be having a word with housekeeping, so not a great start!

The food was average and expensive overall inexpensive stop over however, choice was very very limited in the area and cost was average by comparison to the other choices

I spent two weeks in the highlands and this was the first hotel I stayed at for two nights in the Cairngorms. It was my favorite place I stayed the whole trip, such a warm authentic country feel with the nicest staff who make you feel right at home in the highlands. The breakfast was fabulous too, my favorite Scottish breakfast of the trip, with pretty views into their courtyard and quiet peaceful vibe.

We enjoyed our stay at the Nethybridge hotel however it was tainted by how loud our room was. Our room seemed to back on to the kitchen area which played very loud music until 11pm and then this noise changed to loud music from the pub and people smoking outside. I think we just got unlucky with our room position but this must be a consistent issue with rooms in this area of the hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at the Nethybridge Hotel: the bed was big and comfortable, we had a great view of the gardens, and everything we tried on the restaurant's menu was delicious.

However, the facilities are quite dated, especially in the common areas. Carpet on the stairs and in the hallways is visibly worn and fraying. It's an old building, so hallways are narrow and you will not be able to comfortably pass another person unless one of you waits. There's one very small lift that can accomodate one person. Finding parking was challenging and there's no clear signage to mark the car park behind the building. Even though we had one of the upgraded 4-poster suites, our bathroom had very weak water pressure and showering was challenging.

All of that being said, the charm of the hotel, its location in the Cairngorms, its access to walking trails, and the surrounding peaceful scenery would bring us back! The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, as well. Because we booked through Orbitz in advance, both check-in and check-out were quick and easy.

A long established grand hotel, which although a little tired, is very well presented and room was really clean and spacious Staff were very friendly, polite and extremely helpful. You felt their genuine desire that they wanted you to enjoy your stay. Food was exceptionally good, both dinner and at breakfast. With a wide range of choices it was all too easy to over-indulge. Best Sticky Toffee pud we have had.

Theres not many treasures like this left these days

We enjoyed our three day break at Nethybridge very much in this fine old hotel.
Even though it’s looking a bit tired in places, it makes up for any shortcomings with bags of character and first class, friendly and professional staff. The room and bathroom were really spacious and comfortable and the buffet breakfast caters for all tastes and is delicious. We ate in the restaurant for dinner each night and thoroughly recommend as the food is excellent and reasonably priced.
Overall, a memorable stay, and we’d happily come back if returning to this lovely part of Scotland.

The uniqueness of this property is its location and history. Cannot fault the staff, they were friendly and attentive. However let’s be honest about the condition. The whole hotel needs overhauled, from interior design (all communal areas need redecoration, especially carpets). A weird smell through towards the bedrooms which I was convinced was smell of mould. Carpet at top of stairs on third floor is dangerous, coming away from the actual top step meaning we had to be very careful going up and down here, only a matter of time before guest or staff had a bad accident.

Good - on the good side, dinner was very good. However breakfast barely mediocre. Cheap cereals, yoghurts and basic plain white or brown sliced bread. I would have loved a porridge option, but only found out after breakfast on our second day (when leaving) that this was an option, it wasn’t advertised.

Sad to say we won’t be back, there is great potential here. We were surprised at the other reviews, and think many choose not to leave one out of kindness to the staff

I stayed for a long weekend mid July 2024.
I had a first floor room which was very spacious, nicely decorated and a very good sized bathroom.
Room service attended every day. Staff at reception, bar and dining staff were all very nice and friendly. Breakfast is self service and very tasty and the evening meals are served quickly in the dining room or bar.
It is an old building and could do with a little freshen up in corridors etc.
It is remote with very little to do nearby, but that will also suit many people.
The only downside is the lack of parking on busy nights. On the Saturday I couldn't get a space. Thankfully, the nightshift receptionist let me block her car in until the morning.
I'd definitely return though.

This hotel was lovely. Old building with lots of creaking but the room was very spacious and great accommodations while traveling with the family (18 & 21 year old with us). The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. There was space downstairs with a lounge and sitting space to one side and a bar and dining space to the other. The breakfast was ok but Nethy Cafe just a 2 minute walk was great!

the hotel and bar/in house restaurant were great! Nice employees and good food. we ate in the bar at night and breakfast buffet in the morning. Our bathroom was updated and clean. The only downside, if you can call it that, was the lack of a laundry when it was noted as an amenity in the Expedia listing. When we asked at the front desk they said they do not have or provide laundry services. Being limited on clothing and planning it out as our laundry location, that put a minor ding in our plans. But stinky us aside with no clean clothes for the morning, everything else went well at this hotel and I would come back.

Parking was good and easily accessible. check in was good service, however our booking was made via a 3rd party and the wrong room was booked, no fault of the hotel, and if the hotel was not full then a swop would have been offered.
The room had recently been refurbished to a good standard, but the corridors and other parts of the hotel were still needing a refresh.
There was good, friendly service in the bar, and the food and drink selection were good, I enjoyed the meal.
Breakfast was good and well stocked however table bookings are a must when the hotel is busy.
must just say, if sitting outside in the beer garden, wear bug repellant...
Overall a great stay.

Although the hotel was a little \"tired\" everything about my stay was very good, and the staff were very friendly, despite my being elderly. I don't really understand the \"eco-friendly\" question, I don't think it is relevant to reality. It is politicians that need to be \"eco-friendly\", current legislation is a whitewash and beyond basics it should not have to concern hotels unduly, particularly in rural areas. How does a customer know where the electricity and water supplies come from, not to mention many other important issues.

I think the usual phrase is 'in need of updating'. The public areas, particularly, needed a little bit of sprucing up (I'm talking wrinkly carpets in the corridors). Having said that, the room I had was lovely. Clean, comfortable, and with a beautiful view. Frankly, that's what counts. Food was good with a sensible approach - simple things done well. I didn't try the breakfast as there is a lovely cafe just across the road that does everything you could want (and does it well) for a 'late breakfast'. Worth a mention is the garden. Beautiful, with the springiest grass I have ever come across. Nethybridge is also a lovely place. All in all, I liked the hotel and I loved the location. I would happily stay there again.

We have stayed here a few times and enjoy it. We manage to get the same room during each visit and the staff are very helpful.
Tip - As you leave the front of the hotel turn right and follow the road until you meet Murdo, a tame Scotish Coo, well worth a visit.

We arrived having booked a triple room (one adult with two teenagers needs three beds!) only to be told that it had been mis advertised as they have no such rooms. After a 14 hour drive that was upsetting to say the least. However, the hotel themselves gave us an extra room to make up for it...this turned out to be indicative of the service provided throughout. All staff were amazingly polite and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay a very happy one.

In its day I’m sure this hotel was amazing. We saw beautiful old furniture and hotel was in nice area.
However it really needed updated and there was a damp smell as you went upstairs. The food was ok and bedroom clean but we won’t stay there again.

The property pictures are a little misleading, it's not as grand as it looks. The hotel is very old fashioned as in need of some modernisation however we really enjoyed our stay the staff were great, room very comfortable and a good size. We had a great nights sleep and its in a great location, close to Aviemore and lovely sights such as Loch Morlich.
