Dunallan Long Weekend

We had an excellent stay at Dunallan House! Steve and Ginny were brilliant hosts, so friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable of the local area. The room was very cosy and clean, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very tasty and we loved Steve coming through to chat. Would love to visit again in the future, thank you!

Ginny and Steve are the most lovely hosts. So helpful and sweet! Breakfast is outstanding - delicious, freshly cooked, extremely generous portions, and an extremely wide selection of items.

The town of Grantown on Spey is small, so not many eateries to choose from for dinner. But the B&B is just a couple blocks away from a peaceful wooded walk to the river.

Steve and Ginny were welcoming and kind. The “roost was comfortable and had a spacious bathroom. Walkers shortbread was left at our coffee and tea station -yum! Steve suggested the forests walks to the Spey River and we enjoyed that so much. We then drove over the Cairngorm mountain roads to visit the 3 B’s as Steve put it- Balmoral, Braemar and Ballater and followed Steve’s suggestion of dinner at The Puffin (a wonderful day!). I would recommend a stay here to anyone into beautiful countryside, hikes, and castle visits and wonderful hosts!

Perfect hosts in a great property

Steve and Ginny were consummate hosts. Steve's front of house charm combined with Ginny's amazing work in the background made our stay at Dunallan one of the highlights of our Scotland tour. The property is lovely with oodles of character. Ginny's full Scottish breakfast made the perfect start to each of our days. Thank you team. Amelia says thank you to you and hello to John.

If I could give this property an 11/10 I would, it’s fantastic. My husband and I are visiting from Canada and just spent two nights at the Dunallen House while we worked our way through the distilleries in the area. Ginny and Stephen were so welcoming, I truly felt like guests in their home. Everything about the place was perfect, including the amazing breakfasts that Ginny prepared. Morning breakfasts were made even more spectacular by the great chats with Stephen while he catered to our every need. He is a giant wealth of knowledge about all things Scottish and Irish. He recommended places we had never heard of but once we went there, we were amazed. My husband even found a few extra distilleries to check out and looks like we will be buying a new suitcase to bring all the local Spey scotches home!!! If you are considering this property, don’t think, just book! You will not regret it! Thanks Ginny and Stephen for an amazing few days.

Two night stay to walk the Spey River

We really enjoyed our two night stay. Stevie and Ginny were great hosts with a lot of local knowledge. The top floor suite was extremely comfortable and the luxury of a roll top bath with a view made it extra special. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was really filling.
There are a number of restaurants in the town, but would suggest you book in advance as they are very busy.
If we ever pass close to Grantown on Spey we would definitely return.

Lovely Stay.

Delightful. Room was cosy and clean. Bed
was comfy with plenty of amenities including some very nice bathrobes! We had a private bathroom across the landing from our room on the top floor which was wonderful. The was a shower and large bathtub including a fab selection of bathing products.
Plentiful options for breakfast and was
delicious.

Our stay at Dunallan house was lovely. Our wee dog was made very welcome. Steven & his wife were very accommodating. Stayed in the luxury double room which was perfect. Comfy bed & clean bathroom. Bath was a treat.

We had a very warm welcome from Veronica and Steve. The breakfast was very good and set you up for the day. Steve gave us very informative information of what to see in the area and even provide a map. For anyone looking for a home from home you could not ask for a better place to stay. Very quiet so you get a good nights sleep ready for the next day what ever you want to do.

Wonderful experience

Wonderful experience. The hotel is run by a husband and wife team who were always present to answer any questions and provide tips on where to go and what to see. We were also presented with several options for breakfast.

The guesthouse was very clean and is conveniently located at the edge of a woods, about 15 minutes drive away from inverness, and close to the whisky trail.

We were a family of four, all of us were 100% satisfied with the service. Hope to be back.

Stephen and Virginia are amazing hosts and welcome you with open arms into their lovely Victorian Era home. Cooked to order breakfasts are available every day and the food is delicious!! Home is right off the main street in Grantown on Spey within easy walking distances of restaurants, pubs and even the River Spey.

No hesitation in staying again

We stayed for one night and would definitely stay again. The owners are very friendly and helpful, the room we stayed in (number 1) was spacious, confortable and clean, and there was a good Scottish breakfast available in the morning.

Great location

Whatever you do, don't book the top floor. Ceiling is low, and guarantees a painful head bump. Top suite has fantastic bathroom. Host, Steven is a fantastic talker and makes you feel at home.

Could not have been better. Stephen & Ginnie were super hosts. Centrally located in Grantown-On-Spey. They made us feel welcome and did everything that they could for us. Great breakfasts. Like a home away from home. Will return if ever staying in area.

Hidden Gem in the Highlands

We had a lovely stay with Ginny and Steven at their fabulous, yet cozy B&B. They were amazing hosts - super friendly, hospitable, and had great advice. Our room was perfect for three and the beds were very comfy. We slept very well that night and wished we could have stayed longer. They provided every amenity we could use and the bathroom was clean and modern, while still being rustically stylish. The breakfast was very plentiful and delicious. I loved the porridge!

Beautiful Victorian style home, amazing attention to detail, cleanest rooms that I have stayed in any hotel! Our family room with 3 beds was perfect, beds comfortable, tea and treats in room, view amazing. Walked around town easily, parked our car in their park off the street. Breakfast set up beautiful, owners kind, friendly, and though. Would recommend 5 star!

Charming Spot in Cairngorms

Located in the charming town of Grantown on Spey, it is located conveniently to all activities in the Cairngorms Mountains and the whiskey trail. Hosts were warm and friendly, delightful atmosphere and good food. Be forewarned if you are a tall person prone to smacking your head, the spacious and private top bedroom suite is under a gabled roof and may not be for you.

Charming historic house in Grantown-on-Spey

Ideal place to stay for touring the Spey valley (whiskey galore). We actually did more than just the distilleries even though the weather was awful we really enjoyed ourselves. Mine host did a grand job and made our time there most enjoyable, especially when he got the whiskey out.

I arrived too early. Owner was so kind and offered me tea and biscuits while room was being prepared.
Bathroom was just beautiful and everything so clean and comfortable. Breakfast delicious and breakfast host a real character. It's a lovely place and I highly recommend it.

Great, friendly, and well located place to stay

Really nice place to stay. The proprietors Ginny and Stephen are very nice people, very welcoming, and extremely helpful. The rooms are quite comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The place is located quite conveniently to the main street area and shops/restaurants as well as close to a really beautiful walking trail in the woods where you can choose from short (~1.5 miles) up to long (6-7 miles). Wifi also works very well for those of us who are not completely escaping work. Highly recommend the Dunallan House.
