Staff and ownership were completely gracious and outgoing. Grounds were kept well except for a grass clippings pile along their river walk. The rooms and communal rooms were all very clean and historic. I would totally recommend this for a countryside stay.

Excellent country hotel in a very quiet location, hosts Steve and Tracy made us feel very welcome, we were in room 1 which was just perfect with an en suite that was a good size and immaculate, breakfast was 10/10.

Had a lovely overnight stay on the journey from Edinburgh to Isle of Skye. Excellent connected walking paths wind around starting with the Riverwalk path just a short stroll down the lane from the inn/lodge. Stay includes an exemplary breakfast with options for all tastes, custom made to order by the friendly host. Breakfast was served overlooking the grounds where baby rabbits grazed peacefully.

Fantastic hosts, delicious breakfast

A+ hospitality! Steve and Tracey are extremely gracious hosts and very helpful! The breakfast was outstanding and made to order and served at a scheduled time. Very convenient! The setting is beautiful and the historic building intriguing. It’s a short drive to Culloden Battlefield and Clava Cairns and just a bit further to Glenlivet Distillery.

Despite unfortunate and unforeseen events that rendered our confirmed room unavailable, our hosts made us feel welcome though we were early, and well looked after as they rearranged an otherwise full house to accommodate us. A gracious invitation to sample their splendid whiskey selection by way of compensation sealed the deal for us. A pleasant evening enjoying a game of Trivia at a nearby pub along with a delectable meal, was followed by a comfortable night in a lovely room. A full Scottish breakfast the next morning was the perfect way to begin our journey through the Cairngorms National Park. Thanks to our hosts and their warm hospitality, I cannot recommend Dalrachney Lodge Hotel more highly.

Classy old Manor

Dalrachney is a grand old house which has been remodeled to a hotel. The innkeeper, Gordon is a classy English gentleman who met us and even had a drink with us in the restaurant and told us good stories. The drawing room (see photo) is charming and quiet and overlooks a lovely large green lawn. A river passes right by the property.

Great spot near the river and with a big lawn. It was an old hunting lodge so nice front hall and rooms to relax in on main floor. Our room was great with a modern bathroom that had a great shower. Lovely breakfast.

Very enjoyable short break.

Second visit. A few days of luxury. Wonderful well maintained old hunting lodge. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Food from Fortnam and Masons as well as local produce. Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs one of the options for breakfast. Optional dinner requires booking. Again you get what you pay for. Superb quality and no short measures. Very enjoyable stay and we will be back next year.

Step back in time into an Edwardian hunting lodge

Lovely large room overlooking garden and valley, very peaceful. Lounge and dining room are very comfortable in Scottish design, a bit like a college common room, to take sherry in before dinner.
Superb dinner for a special birthday celebration.
Friendly dog, Archie, fits the ambience.

Happiness in the Highlands

The beauty and comfort of this hotel made my vacation more memorable. The premiere room had every convenience I was looking for: an electric kettle, cable tv, blackout curtains, a modern shower, and an extra large bathroom. I loved the secluded location. I could watch the sunrise over Cairngorms National Park from a window in our premiere room, and we enjoyed the sounds of birds and rippling water from the River Dulnain. Trixie and Gordon provided exceptional service, helping us book a tour and get to the Carrbridge train station on time. I recommend the dinner reservations; it was a great to enjoy a book and a drink in the drawing room before being called in for a fine leg of lamb plate. I still miss starting my morning with the free Scottish breakfast and patting Archie (the hosts' dog) as I pass the check-in desk. I'll be happy to book a stay at Dalrachney again.

The Best Hotel in Scotland

It is very rare to stay at a hotel where everything works but this is true of this hotel. It is a beautiful country house hotel furnished with great style. Good and drink was similarly excellent and the room and bed were very comfortable. We were very looked after. To top it all the live in springer spaniel Archie was affectionate without being over boisterous. Thoroughly recommended.

Dalrachney Lodge is a wonderfully peaceful and pleasant hotel. The food is fantastic, we were so well looked after by Gordon and Trixie Taylor, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Intermittent wifi seems to be the norm amid the Scottish mountains, but did not detract from our splendid stay.

We stayed one night. Very nicely decorated and the feel of an old country home. Bistro menu for evening meal looked really nice but you cannot see this on the website. Breakfast was very nice and they had no problems coping with gluten and dairy free diet

Charming intimate hotel

This was a charming small hotel, with character located in quiet village of Carrbridge. The owners were extremely friendly, making us feel very welcome. We stayed in a lovely room with very comfortable four-poster bed. We stayed in the hotel for dinner which was very enjoyable. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends visiting this area.

It's just a fantastic property and the gentleman at the front desk was superb. We checked in too late for dinner, but the breakfast was perfect. The property is in perfect condition and looks very well maintained. Our family room was excellent and had everything the four of us needed. If only we had more time to stay a few more nights.. !

This hotel feels like a former hunting lodge. Very nice. Dinner (on site) was excellent, though waiting first in the drawing room was unexpected. Parking lot is gravel rather than paved. Very picturesque views out of the many windows. Many stairs between floors. Bathroom featured a skylight. Quiet location. Proprietor was very friendly.

A wonderful experience

The Dalrachney was a more upscale hotel than the B&B we stayed in the first night in Scotland. The staff was communicative via email from the time I made the reservation and up till I checked in. They hosted a wonderful dinner our first night there that was quite delicious. The grounds were very special and walking around the town of Carrbridge was a wonderful experience for us. I look forward to doing it again.

Although my tour of Scotland began in Aviemore, I was very glad to have stayed in the Dalrachney, a little outside of Aviemore. I very much enjoyed the lodge, the food, and especially the owners. They really made me feel like I was someone very special to them. I would love to stay with them again.

Charming and classy

We stayed for one night while we were hiking in the area. The owners are incredibly gracious and take a lot of pride in doing things right. They treat guests to a level of service that is not usually found in any level of hotel. My favorite part was having an aperitif while perusing the dinner menu in the salon, before being called through to the dining room when our meals were ready. They use excellent linens, towels, and soaps/shampoos -- showing that they pay attention to the details. A very charming and classy place to stay.

A truly excellent hotel

Booking online can be a gamble but booking via Expedia hopefully reduces that gamble. We were not disappointed by the Dalrachney Lodge Hotel - it turned out to be a delightful place to stay. The furnishings and facilities have recently been updated, making for a very comfortable stay. The food and wine was excellent. The attention to detail and levels of service were superb. Overall we can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Rugby trip overnight

Single night stay with son prior to his rugby match in Inverness.
Lovely quiet country setting with plenty of nice walks and cycle routes close by.
Great fun with the owners dog chasing the rugby ball and very friendly.
Nice evening dinner, good value and a very good cooked to order breakfast.
Lovely spacious room, but odd that it had a seperate private bathroom rather than ensuite, although this was not a big problem and did not spoil our trip.
Will stay again later in the year when we visit Inverness again!

Country Hotel on the Downside

We arrived at the hotel and found a gravel drive which made wheeling luggage impossible. Interior sort of old English movie, - just above 'down at the heels'.
Room was large but old. bath big but not comfortable. On the whole barely 3 star in Scotland, but not what we expected. Dinner at the hotel was OK but expensive for what we were served.
Staff were nice and helpful.

My husband and I both really enjoyed our stay at the Dalrachney Lodge Hotel. We had a warm welcome from Gordon and Trixie, not to mention the lovely Archie, and found our room (room 2) to be really nicely appointed and very comfortable. Chef was able to cater for my vegan diet and both dinner and breakfast were lovely. The hotel has beautiful grounds, with a river running next to the property, very picturesque! Would thoroughly recommend the hotel and hope to return very soon.

Proprietors lovely and very welcoming and helpful.
The hotel has undergone a refurbishment downstairs and is very nice and traditional. The bedroom we stayed in however was very tired and dated - particularly the bathroom. No shower and carpeted flooring.

Old style Scottish comfort and style

on a motorbike tour with a friend. Lovely location with walks along river via picturesque Carr Bridge. Hotel is wonderfully Edwardian Scottish baronial, very atmospheric and comfortable. Our room had been recently and stylishly refurbished in a modern style, with wonderful high quality cotton sheets/duvet... So good attention to detail. Good whisky selection too.
