The room was very tried looking.
The noise from the neighbours was loud till 1am, i was told it was plumbing (which it was not).
Food was sub parr at best, the buffet restaurant cost 80 for 4 people, which was of a very poor quality, so much so we went in to town each day after that and paid nearly half the price for a lot better.

Hardly any options for a lactose free child.

The check-in was horrendous I waited an hour to get seen, despite checking in online and the fast check in line (not sure that is real) not an option..
The manager (i can only assume) in a blue shirt and tie (the only one), looked like it was an imposition that we were there. Yes it was busy and yes i am sure it can be boring at times but a smile would not be hard or an element of interest in us as people.

Parking was a nightmare - cars just dropped on the side of the road round the back as people gave up trying to get in.

Only positive was the reception staff were friendly and were working as fast as they could.
The young lady who brought food out to the bar every day was amazing she worked tirelessly and needs to be commended.

Unfortunate to say i will not be coming back to stay, not a great impression.

Lovey resort for families with children, fabulous pool with kind pool attendant & exceptional customer service on reception (young male reception ist) great parking, large lounge area/dining facilities. Great playpark out the back & across the car park was another amusement arcade with large soft play/cafe our daughter loved it. Only downside was the rooms were a bit tired, lacked attention to detail you would expect from a Scottish Highland Hotel. Other than that we had a great stay

The biggest issue is the food very poor and it’s such a shame as we like to have a bottle of wine with dinner so you are really stuck unless you get a taxi into town.

Shocking service , as a large group we have been holidaying at this hotel for over 10 years . The minute Britannia took over it’s went downhill. The hotel itself has a lot going for it but being short staffed with dismissive attitudes has just changed the whole experience of the stay . Getting rid of the lounge fire was also a disappointing move.

With the worst snow Aberdeenshire and the Highlands has seen in a long time, we couldn't make our booking. We asked the hotel if we could move our booking to a later date and they refused. They would rather we had got stuck in the snow with a 3 year old in the car and attempted to make our booking against all of the advice and amber weather warnings in place

First of all, We are not complainers, pretty easy going. We just returned from New Years eve at Coylumbridge.

Majority of staff were great

New years eve dinner, £59 adult £29 kids it was genuinely one of the worst meals ive had out. It was at a joke bad. It was also so short staffed our drinks another £70 arrived for dessert.

The breaker for us was we couldnt get a seat in bar and lounge. We understand its busy but after speaking to a lot of people no one stayed in hotel. they all arrived before check in and plonked down on sofas. one person for 6 seats. It was all locals for the town who just came for a party. Annoying when all in all for two nights meals and drinks we spent over a grand. Maybe check people coming in at door to see if residents or large groups of locals with carry outs .

We stayed last year also and it wasnt this bad. Management need to look into this and possible hire security??

Next year is in doubt for us sadly

Check-in took around an hour, which was frustrating. The room itself was fine, however the stay was very disrupted by noise. Children were knocking on doors and running away throughout the night, with shouting and running in the corridors still happening at 11:45pm on a Tuesday.
Our room was next to a cleaning cupboard and we were woken early by cleaning trolleys being dragged along the wall beside the bed. There was more shouting in the corridors again from around 6:30am.
Unfortunately, the lack of noise control and consideration for guests made it hard to get any rest.

The location of the restaurant serving breakfast in relation to the permitted seating with a dog was very inconvenient, The tables are not set up so absolutely everything has to be trundled from the restaurant though reception and the lounge to sit at a table in a corridor whilst families walk past with their suitcases, children, dogs and possessions heading to reception to check out. |So whilst the hotel says its pets friendly, - it is not pet inclusive. I would not recommend anyone with a dog stay there unless they are happy for the dog to remain in their room.

Great for kids, friendly staff, illogical queuing.

Lots of activities for kids, swimming pool and leisure staff were amazing. Other staff were friendly but some of the systems were silly. Seating and setting tables 1 by 1 by 1 person caused an unnecessary wait when you have already booked breakfast. One coffee machine. Queue for juice etc.
Dinner 1st night was told go to the bar ot will be fine, got there no seats, walking round and round no help, just me and my daughter, eventually another family let us sit with them, then the person bringing food i asked about sauces and he just said over there and walked away so i had to leave my 7 year old alone with strangers while i got them and when i ordered. 2nd night decided to book dinner, buffet only, buffet was terrible, pizza tasted like cardboard, eventually found something that tasted ok but not great quality for the price.
Coffee bar was brilliant. Pool was brilliant. Arcades were great. Room was basic but ok. Fun house brilliant. Closing the pool so soon after checking out was a pain but the lovely receptionist gave us passes to the fun house which was very nice. Overall a great place for a family stay and if you sort out your illogical love of queueing for dining it would be even better.

Lovely hotel, check in took nearly an hour. Unsure why it takes so long, but everyday there were long queues of people at check in.
Food was good, room was clean and comfortable. Pool was well maintained and clean changing facilities. Staff were lovely who we came across. They just seemed short staffed in areas of hotel which let hotel down a bit as long wait times at times for food, drinks etc, due to only one staff member being on bar etc. lovely hotel overall, would visit again, just what you needed as a family.

Queue to check in was ridiculous even though they ask you to check in online 2 days before arriving. Stayed in a 2 double bed room in the main part of hotel, was very clean. The beds and pillows aren’t very comfy so didn’t sleep well. The facilities are great for kids. My son loved the soft play and mini golf.

This hotel looks great online but we were very disappointed in the standard. Rooms are very tired - a rickety bunk bed and the noise of the wooden side moving in its slots kept me awake (in the other room) - we had to wedge cardboard in there to stop it moving. Both children told me they were uncomfortable in bed. The adult bed was also uncomfortable - with a mattress of that stopped short of the edge so one was sleeping on an uncomfortable line. The lighting in the main bedroom was poor and one of the lights over a bunk bed was broken - missing its cover.
The leisure facilities are not open all day. I do not recall seeing online when booking that the pool is closed between 1030 and 3.30pm. In our last morning we went down for a swim and were told we could not get in as the pools were full (30 people capacity across 2 swimming pools). My children were hugely disappointed. It ruined my birthday morning. Also pool towels cost £1 each to rent - I’ve never stayed in a hotel that charges for pool towels.
The fun zone soft play is not included - it was £13 for 2 kids and an adult.
There is no housekeeping.
The children did enjoy the park area. Staff were pleasant enough.

We did not eat at the hotel.

Sad to see how this hotel has become so run down with lack of investment. I cannot recommend this place and will not stay here again.

The entertainment was very good so was the food. The only negative service we had was the man at the coffee kiosk. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. When we were booking the hotel, we knew it had swimming pool and other amenities and it looked great on the photos. The opinions were mixed and honestly I don't know why, the room was clean, the staff was super friendly and helpful and the dining was delicious! We were amazed by the amount of thing happening in and around the hotel, and the actual amount of facilities the hotel provides. We will definately be back to make the full use of the facilities! Can't wait!

Worst place I've ever stayed at in the UK

A very old and outdated hotel with poor service, lots of hidden costs, below average food, no lifts or help offered with luggages. Terrible dinner menu if you're opting to half-board here and prices for additional items and hidden costs are through the roof.

Their double beds are insultingly small (smaller than queen size) and calling the reception / room service from the rooms doesn't work because the phones are not connected properly. Door locks and key cards are so old that they constantly need to be taken back into reception to be fixed.

Parking is a nightmare as there is never space out in front of the hotel, so if you are carrying a lot of luggage or heavy suitcases, you'll struggle to drag it through the gravelly car parks and up the flights of extremely old stairs.

They kicked up a fuss because we wanted some plates and cutlery to have our takeaway food inside our rooms and because we wanted to eat some light snacks purchased from our travels in the common bar area even though we had purchased food from there as well.

When going to the pool, they questioned my wife on what kind of swimming costume she is planning on wearing into the pool because of hygiene reasons. We felt racially discriminated against at this hotel due to the above reasons.

Would not recommend, there are better alternatives in this area or in the nearby towns of Aviemore and Kingussie.

There was also no coffee in the room which was quickly replenished after a call to reception. The breakfast is pretty good and the staff are pleasant and helpful.

Great family place and beautiful nature

We really loved it! For a 60 years old hotel it offers everything you might need! Clean and tidy, really helpful staff, dog friendly, and the natural beauty around the hotel offers lots of fun activities! We booked only 2 nights stay and after the first night we have extended our stay for few extra nights without a second thought!
We are planning to return next summer and hopefully we will be able to book the small cottages they have!

I feel saddened by my son and my experience on a four night stay as I worked at the hotel 35 years ago the room we were given seemed to be in the staff quarters building which I don’t have a problem with apart from it being poorly maintained the bathroom floor was all uneven
And when first entered the room the beds looked unmade the staff that we encountered were friendly but just a lack of them there were other issues also that I would class as petty that I would say are petty but mostly down to as I said staff shortages so sadly I would not revisit any time soon

Facilities for kids entertainment is good however if you get coins stuck in the game machines don’t expect to get it back as no one seems to have keys to retrieve them. Staff don’t appear to like working with public and get flustered very easily and make mistakes, also swear directly in front of children. Then when you make them aware they make it out that it’s your fault and are very argumentative and/or cheeky towards you. All in all we won’t be staying again!

We were a family of 3. Originally booked 2 x double bed room, on arrival we got upgraded to a 2 bedroom double bed and bunk bed room, which our son was happy with.
The room needed updating and refreshed. Two lights out in the bathroom, which made it very dull, as there is no window for natural light.
It was a very busy hotel, we tried to access pool, having to put our name on the waiting list, which didnt work for us.
Location was fantastic for walks and attractions. Our son (12) found it boring at night as the kids entertainment closed at 6pm, ie Adventure golf & arcade.
Overall our stay was good with having lots to see around the area, however the hotel itself really needs more going on at night.

Hotel and stay were OK. It’s good for kids and location is great. Room was clean, a bit small with the extra bed for our 5 year old, but comfy enough. Building is somewhat worn out, but not too bad. Good quality hotel with entertainment

Has a great range of facilities and entertainment for families. Restaurant is also comfortable with good food and good value. Has pool, sauna and outdoor entertainment for kids.
Unfortunately a clown who was there was very rude to my son and wouldn't give him a baloon, possibly because he is English, even though he gave one to everyone else... Sad let down with poor attitude. The pool is also very strict on under 16s using the pool and sauna.

Quirky things like the dinosaurs in the grounds.Handy for local attractions.. good music in the bars

Be prepared to have patience

Arrived to check in at 6pm, we waited 50 minutes in a queue before being able to check in.
The queue at the bar to be served was equally as long.
Room was tiny and in the roof. During summer months is unbearably hot. The reception did provide a fan on the second night.
