Not having on site staff was a bit frustrating by having to walk a block to get the key, and any additional assistance was a small inconvenience.
The room was well decorated, I loved the vintage style, the only thing I would suggest is better mattresses as the one in my room had a valley in the middle of the mattress.
The housekeeping staff and groundskeeper were all friendly and pleasant to engage with and did a great job of making the place look great!

All in all I would give it an 8.5 out of 10 or 4.5 out of 5.

This a quaint property in the heart of Kanab. This property is older but clean. We stayed 3 nights during Spring Break and had 2 bedroom/2 queen beds. We were weary of the shower since it had paint cracks and the floor was gross (brown-black stain stuff). We went to Family Dollar and bought $2 flip flops so that was solved. This room did not have a microwave, which was not convenient for us. We did have to check in at the BW and go back for breakfast. At breakfast, they consistently ran out of food items and things were out of order (yogurt machine, cranberry juice, etc). The man that was cleaning the rooms was very nice and welcoming. We loved to listen to the church bells from across the street. It chimed and played a hymn from 8am until 8pm. We felt safe at this property. The price suited us and that is why we stayed here.

Everything at the hotel itself was incredible. Clean, great location in the middle of town, ample parking, room was fantastic. My only complaint was that we never saw anyone in the front office and were directed to call the Best Western a few properties down with any issues. That was also where breakfast was served, so we had to walk down to that hotel each morning. It’s not far away, but it is definitely not as nice of a property in my opinion and felt old, dated, and not as clean. We did see some housekeeping and/or maintenance staff during our stay, but they were always sitting on the chairs in front of the rooms smoking. Not judging the smoking, people can do what they want, but we would have preferred it not be in front of our room or in site of guests. Maybe designate an area around the back for that purpose. All in all, we would definitely stay again as the location was ideal and the rooms spacious and clean.

We stayed at Aikens Lodge in Kanab, Utah last night and really enjoyed it. The hotel has been beautifully renovated while keeping its fun 1950s retro vibe—down to the vintage-style Frigidaire mini fridge in the room. Super clean, comfortable, and full of character.

Kanab itself is such a cool little town with some great food spots, which made the stay even better.

It’s also pet-friendly with a reasonable $20 fee, which we appreciated.

Only downside was the lobby was closed, so check-in was at the Best Western down the street. The pool was also closed, and the complimentary breakfast is located there as well. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know.

Overall, we’d definitely recommend Aikens Lodge—perfect if you’re visiting Zion or the Grand Canyon. We’d absolutely stay here again and hope to catch it when everything is fully open.

Charm & Nostalgia, straight out of Radiator Springs (Cars movie)! She's an oldie but a goodie and has clearly been cared for. I suspect a thoughtful woman is behind all of the welcoming touches. The rooms all have 50s-style chairs outside the doors and around the fire pit. Chatting with traveling neighbors is clearly encouraged like the good ol days. If you traveled in places like this as a kid where you could park right outside your room and felt connected to, rather than annoyed by, fellow travelers, this place will just make you feel young and HAPPY. I felt happy being in this atmosphere.

The breakfast at the Best Western was very good. We enjoyed the eggs and cheese, and the sausages. It was nice to have a variety of syrups for the waffles. What we didn't appreciate were the two large dogs at the table at the table next to us. They were clearly pets and not service dogs. I realize it is impossible for management to deny the owners who only had to lie and say they were service dogs.

The room at Aiken's Lodge was adequte. It was very dated and didn't have a microwave, but it was all we needed. The night was quiet and we slept well.

This is an older motel, but the rooms have been maintained well. We arrived to a note on the closed office telling us to check in at a different hotel. I guess help is hard to find in the off season? It didn't inspire confidence in our accommodations. The beds were uncomfortable. The shower was small. The advertised breakfast was also available at the other hotel. This motel stay was fine for an overnight, but I'll probably take my chances somewhere else next time.

This was a nice place to stay! A bit older, but clean and pretty well kept. After hours check in had to be done at the Best Western, but it was a smooth check in from there. For some reason our power went out at about 10:30 at night, and when I called the 24 hour service line, they answered and promptly addressed our problem. I would probably stay here again!

I liked the central location with easy walking to shops and restaurants. Was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was at night for sleeping. The area felt safe as a solo traveler.

The property was cute, but there was no circulating air and it got really hot. The wall ac really did not circulate the air. The bathroom did not have a fan, so after a few days it smelled like stale air and old pee. There was at least 1+ inches around that door that you could see to the outside, which made for a noisy stay with cars and people walking by at all hours. I would not stay there again. The hotel rate was $67 for those days and you charged us $448 for three days. The office was not open in the property. We had to walk down two blocks to best western to check in. The breakfast was not available at the property and for that we had to walk two blocks to best western in cold. We were told that if we needed towels, we had to go to best western and get them ourselves. The bathroom was so small that you couldn’t even take a shower properly. It was not worth the money. On hotels.com site it was listed for $67 and the person at the desk told us that hotel.com is charging too much. It was really horrible experience.

Room is cute & comfortable. They were short-staffed so I had to walk almost a block to check-in at another hotel which was owned by the same people, then walk back to my room. It was challenging to get the shower water at the right temperature, but after a few minutes, it was fine. Breakfast was included & also served at the other hotel. Good deal for the price. The amenities next door are nice but, No office and no microwave because its in the office. Which isn't available because there is no staff. Have to walk to the next block to have breakfast, and use the pool and hot tub and personnel lobby. A/C in room 19 was extremely loud and ran almost non stop. The bed, the TV and fridge were nice.

The Aiken's Lodge is a great historic motel in downtown Kanab. Best Western apparently owns it now and is running it into the ground. No reception, pool in disrepair, breakfast is at the BW, not the Aiken's. The electricity is spotty. Needs some investment to make it what it once was. Could be so much more than what it is today.

There is a small check in but is only open at certain times but you can check in at their sister property (Best Western) just down the road. This is where breakfast is and you can also use the pool there.

The staff was very kind and welcoming. A basic breakfast was included, and the location is amazing. There's lots of great food options nearby and cute boutiques to shop at within walking distance. We did however have a problem with ants in our room. For the most part, they stayed in the bathroom, but it was a bit unpleasant to deal with that. A note also, the breakfast, ice machines, pool, and a few other amenities are located at the Best Western down the street. Only a few minutes to walk there, so not really a problem, but I don't think that was mentioned to us before our stay. We really enjoyed exploring Kanab!!

This hotel was a fantastic vibe, however i get the impression the owners are changing or retiring or something. Everything to do had to be done at the best western just down the street from the hotel total walking distance so very mildly inconvenient. Please note that if i had the money i would totally buy this place and run it myself thats how great the vibe is there, but the checkin was at the best western, the pool was at the best western, the breakfast was yup, at the best western. About the only thing at the hotel was an ice machine. I really enjoyed the stay and place but want other travelers to be advised because none of the best western information is made clear until you arrive and try to check in at the hotel.

The office hours are weird, but we timed it right. The stairs to our room were very sketchy; we nicknamed them the death stairs. The room is super cute. The fridge worked really well. The ac filter was VERY DIRTY and we only had six tissues (we went to the store and bought more). The worst thing was the bugs. There were elm leaf beetles in our room and covering the outside of our door and the light above it. Every time I opened the door, we got swarmed. I killed at least 50 of them, inside. We noticed the door has gaps, and watched some of them crawl in through those gaps. There were hundreds of dead beetles lining the threshold (inside) and in the morning, the outside threshold was covered in hundreds of dead bugs.

Overall, we liked the stay, the space of the three rooms, and the vibe of the place. If the bug situation is remedied, we’d definitely stay again because we pass through 4+ times each year.

It’s a very quiet hotel during the week, even during the busy season. There were only 3 of us at the the entire stay. Sadly, at this time their pool is being renovated but we were able to use the pool at a hotel on the next block. Although it was crowded, it was still a pool. The lobby is not open until the evening during the week so we were unable to get the complimentary breakfast snacks during our stay. There are close restaurants within walking distance. Plan ahead, most restaurants shut down early during the week and not all of the stores are open earlier in the week.

This place was cute, very mom and pop kind of place! The room was very cool, very old school 60s era decor! The pool was not on the property, but rather next door at their sister hotel (Best Western Red Hills) which wasn’t a big deal as it was very close by. The fitness center was also located there. For the inexpensive cost, this hotel was pretty great!
