Fantastic location, great for pickups on trips, secure. The hotel itself was modern, and the rooftop bar is a real treat. Breakfast was excellent and we were really disappointed to miss it on the second day due to an early collection. Big room, nice soaps. A quiet and stylish retreat from the surrounding bustle. The hotel was comfortable and offered good (though somewhat limited) services. It’s in the midst of a busy and somewhat chaotic section of San Jose, but it manages to offer relaxation and calm. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The room TV did not offer any streaming options, only cable TV. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Room service was not available (multiple dead ends on phone calls) and the airport shuttle was 3x the cost of an Uber. The hotel staff are very nice and professional. My problem was Room 500 (The Loft) had the bed on a platform about five feet above the floor which required going up 5-6 step stairway to get to the bed. No night table for glasses, phone, etc. Only one way to get into the bed so the entrance needed to be choreographed as to how and when to get into and out of the bed for two people.
The TV was under the bed with shag rug and bean bag chairs so we had to crawl under the bed to watch TV, which had such a low volume that we could barely hear or understand the movie dialogue.
The room is not good for seniors due to these issues.

I was disappointed with the check in. I arrived about 30 min before check in. The room was not ready. They told me it might take 45 min before the room is ready. I ask if any room available, they said none. So I just waiting in the couch by the lobby. However as I waited, I saw a few couples that checked in and the room was available. I checked again an hour later, over 30min past check in time and my room was still not ready. I had to wait till 45min past check in time before my room was ready. Very disappointed. They knew I was waiting, and they could not get the room ready by checkin in time. They needed 1h15min after I arrived before my room was ready while they knew I was waiting. It showed there was no priority to clean my room as it shouldn’t take that long to clean a room.

From the moment we arrived this hotel was a wonderful experience. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with a variety of local and traditional dishes to suit everyone with the best coasta rican coffee. Don’t miss the rooftop bar. The rooms were lovely. Right in the middle of downtown, walking distance to everything. They also offer a fair conversion rate from US dollars to colones. Exceptionally clean boutique hotel.

this gem was tucked away and barely noticeable from the bustle of the streets. warm staff greeted you at the top of the stairway and bags were carried to a our spotless room overlooking the busy streets of San Jose. Boutique hotel adorned with plants and accent wooden beams. breakfast was the highlight, with a variety of fruits, rice and beans, hash, and breads to satisfy our vegan diet, accompanied with good coffee made for a solid start to a day of exploring.

Our room was clean, comfortable but no frills - worked well for a two night stay but not as stylish as the hotel itself. We would recommend staying here for a short stay in San Jose.

We had a great stay here! Hotel is within walkable distance to a lot of other restaurants/shops. The ambience was great and they have excellent breakfast (free!) options. The room has basic amenities. The only issue was the AC stopped working on day 2, but otherwise, everything else was good. Their roof top restaurant also has good menu options.

The dulce de leche croissant pudding was fantastic! The hotel is in the center of the city and with minimal traffic is 40 minutes from airport with traffic 1.5 hours.

We splashed out and stayed in the Elegant Gentleman room. It was huge and definitely we didn’t have to worry about where to put our cases! However, despite the size of the room there was no wardrobe to hang clothes which seemed a bit ironic given the name of the room! The room was comfortable though with a view over to the mountains. Breakfast was good - buffet with lots of choice. Wifi was rubbish and the shower was quite weak and took ages to get hot - after finally working out where hot was. Also I didn’t like the manager (?) on reception. I asked him a question about San Jose and before he answered he wanted to know our room number and then i had to confirm my name and then he couldn’t answer the question anyway!

We ordered pancakes but got completely forgotten until after waited a long time and we asked and they were like oh you want to order pancakes? No one was apologetic at all; just order now why complain ? Still, good place to stay even with ‘I’m always right’ breakfast staffs…

However they refused to honor my Orbitz VIP status so breakfast was not included in my stay. They charge $18 a person for an extremely plain breakfast buffet that’s worth maybe half that amount.

Roof top restaurant was lovely, unfortunately our stay was ruined by multiple issues checking in followed by, despite asking on check in about booking the shuttle and being told I could do it in the morning, to not being able to do it in the morning as it needed to be reserved 24hrs in advance ?? It would have been 24hrs in advance if they had booked it as I requested on check in.
The rooms shown on Expedia are nothing like the room we were given, I was hoping for a smart boutique style hotel / room as per the photos and ended up with a very standard hotel room with no English channels on the TV or the ability to stream . Aside from the restaurant I was pretty disappointed

On our first night, we discovered that the bed sheets were damp, and when pulling back the comforter, we found visible stains that looked like dirt or makeup. This prompted us to look around more closely, and we noticed a general lack of cleanliness dust was everywhere, including on the fire alarm directly above the bed (we took photos).
Since we arrived late at night, we stayed for one night but decided to check out the next day, even though we had booked two nights. When we explained our concerns to the staff and requested a refund for the unused night, we were told to go through Expedia. However, when Expedia reached out to the hotel, the manager refused our refund request. At checkout, we even showed the front desk attendant the photos of the dirty comforter, but instead of acknowledging the issue, they simply said it would be changed and still denied a refund.
The only positive aspect of our stay was the breakfast, which was genuinely good. Unfortunately, the overall experience, poor room conditions, lack of cleanliness, and unhelpful customer service does not justify the $300+ per night rate. We would not recommend this hotel.

Once you understand that all of Costa Rica is like this, then you get that it is normal. There were pairs of cops on many corners so I felt pretty safe. Even in the evening, it was just a bit slower and cooler than the day. Just always lots of people. The Jade Museum was terrific. The National Theater was closed for tours. :( Great food everywhere. It was great.
