Great island, water villa spot on. Foo outstanding and cleaners and waiters/chefs and bar staff amazing. Reception staff need more training to ensure the same consistent friendly experience as they did not look comfortable dealing with guests and slow support. Would revisit however resort management need to urgently change health and safety warrior their maintenance staff. Such low standards exhibited working with electric equipment in water under the spa, no risk mitigation which is not acceptable. No personal protective equipment and high risk to loss of life in addition to impact on guests.

I don't understand the people who give less than 4-star reviews to this holiday destination. They must be nitpickers who expect to have the conditions from One and Only Reethi Rah (the neighbouring island) at the prices from the Summer Island. Come on, you could stay there only one hour with the money you paid for two weeks at the Summer Island. All is more than reasonable at the Summer Island, I mean the location, the meals, the staff, snorkelling and diving opportunities.

I had the BEST time at the Summer Island Maldives. Everything was seamless from transfers to food. Absolutely perfect for solo travellers like myself.

I had a Superior Bungalow which was unreal and I was fortunate enough to get upgraded to a water bungalow which was a great experience! All staff were amazing and work so hard to keep the island looking pristine.

Food was great, I was half board and enjoyed every meal. Prices at the bar was reasonable too for lunch.

Only small feedback is for the shop to have more snacks but everything else was PERFECT!!

Overall we had a great time

Overall we had a great time. The only issue we faced was with Reception / Front Desk that was an absolute disaster. The only thing they could do is to book you for the free daily snorkelling trip or to charge your credit card. They were not able (or even worse, did not want to!) handle other questions/queries. Our check-in was extremely slow considering that they had to do the check-in only for 2 rooms. As for the mandatory Christmas Gala Dinner (140 USD/person), we were shocked to realise that not even a glass of wine or beer was included in this hefty price. The bill for the Christmas Gala Dinner had to be settled ahead of Christmas Eve, which is a complete lack of trust toward their ‘Valued Guests’ (as they call them). It was also unclear for us how it was possible that for guests on all board types (including bed & breakfast) the sum of the Gala Dinner was exactly the same. This meant that guests on half board or full board had to pay twice for their dinner on 24 December. When I raised this point with Front Desk they did not even understand the point I was making. Very poor indeed!

Amazing place, a piece of heaven. There is nothing here not to like. Charming staff who will give you the opportunity to think about nothing else but to immerse yourself in carefree everyday life. The rooms, services, food and of course the diving center deserve 5 stars. We were also pleasantly surprised by the not bad (for the Maldives) free internet on the island. Exceptional last-minute booking turned into one of my best decisions ever!

Saud efficiently organized the seaplane, aligning with my schedule. Arrival was greeted with a refreshing drink, timely check-in, and assistance to my room. Opted for half board with a superior vista room featuring an outdoor shower, spacious balcony, and king-size bed. Thanks to being an Expedia gold member, the day after my birthday, a water villa upgrade became available, transforming my Maldivian experience. The villa was magical, with ocean waves lulling me to sleep and stunning sunrise views.

For my birthday, a Stars and Sands dinner on the beach was breathtaking, with impeccable service from Rafiq and a surprise birthday cake. A spa massage with a good birthday discount was blissful. Taking advantage of the February wine discount, Rafiq delivered a bottle to my room.

Dining experiences varied, with delicious options at both the buffet and Hiya restaurant. While Hiya lunches were pricey, the bar offered more affordable alternatives. Breakfast at Hiya, especially Rabeel's omelettes, was a highlight. Rafiq's exceptional service and Adi's friendly demeanor at the bars added to the experience.

The pristine beach with designated sun loungers and clear turquoise ocean was perfect for snorkeling. Although the souvenir shop was pricey, the overall experience was paradise on earth. Summer Maldives provided a memorable trip I'm still talking about weeks later!

Summer Island is a really well-run, friendly, and accommodating resort. It’s mostly a relaxing/luxury environment but had all the water sports and diving that you would look for plus ping pong, badminton, volley ball and a gym. Everything was well-explained. The island is thoughtfully designed to provide many different beach aspects as you go around; much is made of the sunset side being better but I wouldn’t worry as all rooms have interesting views/aspects and you can move around the beach no problem anyway. Guests seem split between couples celebrating (all ages), couples on breaks, and a few parent/child couples and a few young families. We were full board in the Hiya restaurant and the food, ambience and service was genuinely excellent. We also did a yoga class at sunset and the spa seemed relaxing and good; the location is stunning at sunset.
All in all this was a very relaxing and reliable experience, having us asking “if we return to the Maldives, would we risk anywhere else?” as it was exactly the luxury relaxing break we were after.

Fantastic holiday on a beautiful Maldives Island: Summer Island offered us the best blend of affordability and Maldives luxury.
Our Superior beach room was a downstairs apartment with guests staying in similar above us, but other then the occasional furniture moving on the floors tiles we did not hear them.
The food was great with plenty of choice and volume. Great cocktails available at the bar.
The rooms had the most comfortable sun loungers we have ever used, and fresh beach towels every day.
The speedboat ride to and from the airport was on time and very comfortable, taking 45 mins each way. Oh and flying Emirates you know the excellent standard you will receive.
All round this was an excellent holiday and at an amazing price through Expedia.

Summer Island - a splendid experience

We visited Maldives for the first time in November 2023. Even before the actual visit, the staff were so helpful and efficient in clarifying questions we raised and in assisting us with the transfers to and from Summer Island.

We booked an over water villa - we asked for a sunset side. They couldn't guarantee it, but we were assured that they noted or request. We were given 510. The room was perfect. It was exactly as described and exceeded expectations. The surroundings are spectacular, but the villa adds to and complements the beautiful setting.

We are vegetarians and we were not sure what to expect in terms of vegetarian Chinese of food. We stayed in a half board basis. There was a decent choice of vegetation food - it was tasty and varied. The presentation was of a high quality. The chefs and the food and beverage staff were so attentive and courteous that it made every bit of the stay memorable.

We took the boat for snorkeling trips and we snorkelled in the house reefs. Words cannot capture the beauty of the area. Walks on the beach, watching the sunrise on the beach and sunset from the villa will stay in our memories forever. Thank to Summer Island for adding to the memorable experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful island. We stayed in a premium beach villa and it was serviced by the amazing Aboo! Can’t thank him enough. The food at Hiya restaurant was varied, plentiful, fresh and tasty. The waiting staff here were efficient and friendly. Staff at reception did all they could to help with any queries too. The negatives would be the tiny shop with very few options and way over priced. I got mosquito bites and was unable to buy just an ointment. Instead had to see the Dr ($25 consultation fee…..was with him less than 2 minutes) and charged $10 for ointment. My advice, be prepared and bring your own! But overall this did not tarnish my opinion of the place. It’s stunning and the staff are lovely. Well done Summer Island!

Amazing customer service. The employees were friendly & helpful. The island is small and you can walk all around in less than 30 minutes. My beach villa was a 1st floor facing east and after going around the island several times and checking the all the beaches I would say that, hands down, east facing is the best location. Even better than the over-water bungalows, which by the way don’t look as nice as bungalows from other resorts. About my villa, it was very spacious & comfortable; only a few steps from the beach. This was the highlight of my stay!
The not so good, the food is below average. It’s buffet style & each day I struggled finding something I really loved. Having been to other resorts with buffet style dining I must say this was disappointing. They had other dining options for a fee, but from what I heard from another guest-utterly overpriced for the kind of meal. They were charging $75 USD per person for a BBQ dinner & apparently they were offering chicken legs/thighs! I was at the lobby when a guest was furious about the money he spent on 3 dinners due to the dissatisfaction of the BBQ offering.
If you like snorkeling and can do so, bring your own equipment. They rent them but, again, expensive. The resort offers 2 free snorkeling trips a day & it was a really nice activity. They also offer diving & snorkeling trips for a fee.
Overall I enjoyed my time at Summer Island Resort but if I come back to Maldives I’ll probably try a different resort.

Best place I have been to, the staff are amazing and super friendly. I especially enjoyed the service and quality of food at HIYA a la carte restaurant...a 4 course meal for lunch and dinner. The staff were just so attentive.
We had an evening flight home but enjoyed a late check out until 3.30 and then the speedboat departed at 4.30.

This was our second time at Summer Island, and it was just as enjoyable and memorable as the first. The resort is exceptional, and we have visited other resorts in the Maldives to compare. The staff are so friendly and the food is delicious. We have recommended the resort to people we have met in the Maldives and a coupe we know visited weeks before us, based on our recommendation. Love Nevi bar and the waters around the jetty and water villas. Has a great gym, two restaurants and well stocked gift shop. The highlight of our holiday was being recognised by many staff as returner guests, and making new friends with guests. Saeed at the restaurant was just as humble and polite as the first visit. 45 minute speedboat from the airport, close enough to not let the transfer take precious hours away from the trip, but far enough to feel isolated from the capital. Again, loved the resort and likely to go again!

What a beautiful hotel and a beautiful island. The resort was well organised. All of the chalets are next to the beach. The room was clean, comfortable and very chic. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall I would strongly recommend. If I were to recommend improvements, they would be limited to the following: (1) the hotel was not very helpful with arranging a transfer to the island - only offering to arrange a boat to the airport - which did not help as we were on a different island. Luckily the other hotel was more helpful in this regard so we arranged a private transfer. (2) whilst I understand that a half board hotel wants to avoid customers taking extra food from the canteen so that they will still need to order lunch, this can be a little strict/excessive. On one day, when I took a mini banana from breakfast to eat on the way back to the room, the staff tried to stop me from doing so. But these are relatively minor points - overall I would strongly recommend the resort.

We Spent 9 days in Summer Island and loved every minute. If you get the opportunity. Drop everything and just go.

We arrived to Summer Island via Sea plane ( this was a surprise birthday present), we were delayed 2-3 hours after this it was a fantastic experience.

Greeted by welcome staff at the jeti. We stayed in the sea view villa. It was perfect. It had UK plug sockets, plenty of drinking water, a kettle (might be worth bringin your own coffee).

We dinned in Samuga restaurant everyday for the half board which included breakfast and dinner buffet style, shout out to Ali for the amazing service by our waiter, he really goes above and beyond. One day we say him picking flowers to make up a birthday arrangement for one of the guests. In between meals we ordered room service and used the nevi bar snack menu ( would reccomment the Nachos)

Everyday snorkling is included once per day, reccommend the morning one as much easier, we saw sharks, sea turtles,clams and lots and lots of tropical fish and coral. Would reccommend bringing a snorkle mask and fins with you.

Would reccomend paddle boarding, BBQ on the beach, romantic dinner under the stars and lots of cocktails.

The stay was amazing and we enjoyed every single night. My advise for the people coming to this place is to get water villar or Beach Villa otherwise doesn’t worth coming since the other accommodations are not very comfortable since a lot of bugs and away from the Beach

The receptionist are extremely busy so you need to wait to get a response.

There’s dedicated resturant specially for water villa which is good

I took romantic dinner package the set is acceptable but the food menu was so small good we had dinner include in our package otherwise we will be hungry so i hope they increase the portions

I requested if i can change the dinner to linch but they didnt agree although i was paying above 150 usd for this dinner but i was really disappointed as some hotel half board means either lunch or dinner

For the billing, i prefer if they can make a way to avoid any mistake as you dont have have to pay for anything only give your room number which is easily People could give wrong room number and you will be charged at check out!

Beautiful Island, very chilled, lots of space, i frequently had a section of beach all to myself. I stayed in an over water villa which gave me access to both restaurant, staff were very friendly. AVI bar at night time attracts fish and sharks while you relax with a drink. There is a daily free snorkeling trip, highly recommend and there is a man made reef off the pier which is full of fish and mantarays. Walkways are mostly sand tracks so no need for fancy footwear. Winds were very strong which made the current around the water villas very strong, was better on the sunrise side.

Excellent for a shorter stay. The staff are very friendly. Only downsides are the island is very small with limited activities and you can’t travel to other islands due to covid. Some of the food was decent but much of it had too little flavor or way too much of a flavor that wasn’t good. Also most of the meat dishes were over cooked to the point where they were almost jerky.

Summer Island was a dream getaway. I stayed in a water villa for the duration and the room was spacious, clean, and had brilliant views over the ocean. The hotel itself is spread out across the island, so it feels more “natural” than a three story hotel complex being plonked in the middle.

The food each day was fabulous, as too were all the catering staff. Very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The same can be said for ALL staff at the resort.

The island itself is easily walkable, surrounded with pristine beach and ample number of chairs and swings to lounge in.

All in all, a high recommendation!

Quite disappointing! This place clearly has still a lot to learn! I have been working in the tourism industry for 8 years and they clearly need a GM to improve the service level as well as the communication in general.
Firstly I was quite disappointed with the staff at the reception: not helpful, did not communicate any information (for example when a snorkelling trip get cancelled or if there is anything to be careful about in general: mosquitoes, weather, stairs on water villa, shows in the evening, etc ..)
They could definitely offer more as well: games with prizes to promote events or diving trips or quiz to make the clients discover more about the island. 75% of the clients are German and they like this type of night/ event.
The water villa did not even offer a welcome fruit basket or personalized chocolate/little souvenir gift. For the price of more than 550$ per night you definitely expect a bit more than just a flat.
1 point I need to emphasize on is the stairs on the water villa: I almost broke my leg and my partner as well: it is extremely dangerous and when discussing with other people nobody was even daring to try to go down as it was too dangerous. Thats the reason I chose this kind of accomodation to have the luxury to go from my bed to the water and I couldnt do it so clearly very disappointing.
The food was good and the pastries were amazings! Staff was also very friendly from the kitchen/restaurant.
Very nice bar/lounges to relax with amazing cocktails.

we stayed in the overwater villa, itself and the view was superb. one thing notable about the stay is that its pillows and bed were so comfortable i can sleep in them forever. the food buffet was even better, samuga restaurant is a cut above the hiya restaurant cuz they have more variety of food and has more 'people feeling'. well i guess that the bridge to the sea at the water villa should be re-enforced, cuz its actually very slippery and has woody protrudings... but overall our stay is so enjoyable, big thumbs up!

This is a truly beautiful island and we stayed in one of the over water bungalows which were on the smaller side but clean and comfortable. The water is amazing and the food on the island (we were half board) was very good.
The spa is great and prices not too high.
The only thing that lets this place down is the Dive Center, the staff are RUDE (except the young Spanish guy) the dive manager a small German guy was unbelievably rude and obnoxious. It stopped my husband from doing any further dives, they also make you rent every piece of equipment and do a $90 ‘discovery dive regardless of the amount of dives you’ve done before allowing an open water dive.
Otherwise the place is gorgeous !!

Amazing beach, amazing waters and food was wonderful. $40 for a bottle of sunscreen so don’t forget to bring your own! Only wish the beds were a little more comfortable. Nice size but basic spring mattress

Fantastic experience that is worth the price

Our two day stay at Summer Island Maldives was phenomenal.

The staff accommodated us well beyond our expectations - they allowed for both a considerably early check-in as well as a considerably late check-out without charging extra. This was a huge relief for us as we didn't want to wait in the airport for 3-4 hours before we could check in or after checking out. This may not always be possible but it's great to see the staff accommodating when possible.

The speed boat pickup was well coordinated, fast, and comfortable. The boat was newer and in excellent condition.

The facilities were immaculately clean and modern. This was particularly impressive given the tropical environment location and the wildlife that comes with it (you see some lizards on the island, crabs, etc.). But the rooms and facilities showed no sign of wildlife or bugs.

The food was great and varied each day - they easily accommodated my wife's vegetarian diet.

The island has great beaches, excursions, water sports equipment (snorkeling/scuba/toys etc.), a gym, ping pong, badminton court, and more.

And, of course, the views were stunning. Crystal clear water, magnificent sunrises and sunsets, pristine beaches, and brightly colored fish. All of it made for beautiful photography.

This felt like the real Maldives experience that you see in blogs or hear people talking about. Summer Island Maldives made the trip very memorable. I highly recommend them.

Amazing place to spend a holiday. Nice beach (sometimes only for your own :) ), especially on the West side of the island. Friendly staff and wide variety of food for breakfast and dinner.
Would have been nicer to have more drink options other than water for dinner with the half board option.

Nice stay at summmer island.

Transfer: Summer island is a 45min speed boat transfer, additional 150 usd return. I went during low peak season and so, transfer really is not decided till last min depending on other guest arriving with you. Expect wait time on both To and from resort.

Island: small island but meet the expectation of white sand and blue sea. Great view, clean beach but with strong wind when i was there.

Resort- If you consider that this is a 3.5 star hotel. It was a really good stay. Rooms- both on island and overwater are really clean and tidy. Housekeeping does a great job. Room service food is not over expensive and taste pretty ok. Bkf buffet and dinner in the main island is ok as well. The overwater restaurant is unfortunately disappointing. One morning, the watermelon they provide smell weird, simply not fresh. I also told them i dont take beef and next thing i know, i got pork and beef too on my plate. Dinner was not at all impressive as well. Overall, ok. But nothing to shout about. Service is ok as well.

Overall, a quiet, nice stay, which is what i was looking for.

What a wonderful experience. From the pickup to the departure.. perfect. Room very clean, Mohammed cleaning it 3x a day, to the food love the chef selection of food varied love the scampies and dumplings. Bathroom fantastic.. the pool , the beach outstanding.

great resort!

stayed in the water villa and loved it! the view is amazing and u can go snorkeling right off your back porch. the staff are so friendly and attentive. the snorkeling adventures are a must do as we were able to see giant manta rays, sea turtles, reef sharks and tons of colorful fish!

The trip of a lifetime

The trip of a lifetime. We were in a beach villa for most of the stay and then had 3 nights in a water villa. The food was fabulous and varied. One of us didn’t eat meat but does eat fish, and there was always something different to try. We went diving and snorkelling, making the most of the facilities. The pool is lovely but there isn’t much seating around it. We didn’t find it a huge problem because the sea was right outside the door. Both rooms were comfortable and big enough for two. Would we recommend. Absolutely!

All my life I thought you had to die to go to heaven. When in fact all you need is a plane ticket to Maldives and speed boat shuttle to Summer Island Resort. I was already impressed by guest services 2 months prior to our arrival. I received an email with instructions to find the speed boat, that would transport us to Summer Island. They needed our flight info so they can meet us. I emailed them it was our second wedding anniversary so I wanted to have flowers in our room upon arrival. They sent a confirmation email acknowledging my request. I was already waiting for our vacation.
Once on the speed boat you receive a wonderfully scented cool towel to refresh yourself and a bottle of water.
We were meet by a guest relation team. They greeted us with cool tropical drink and another cool towel. They explain about the island, special events and guided us to our accommodations.
We stayed in a superior beach view room, it was perfect and spotless clean. When you first enter the room it's bight and all the colors were so refreshing and pleasing to the eye. The bed and bedding were excellent and we slept well every night.They also clean the room twice a day. Every place you went on the island was perfection. The restaurant served a wide variety of delicious food.
There was one big negative . We had to leave.
Thank you Summer Island Resort staff and management teams for a prefect vacation.

For a Wonderful Time Choose Summer Island

One of the most amazing holiday I had!
The resort is so beautiful and well kept!
Rooms are new, bright and clean housekeeping is coming to visit twice and you can call them anytime if you need anything and they’ll come right away... super efficient.
FOOD : fantastic! So Many options to choose from the buffet at least 10 and also you have 3 hot stations where the chefs are cooking the speciality of the day right in front of you! Waiting staff at the restaurant are just amazing! So genuine and nice.
The common areas and bars are clean and with breathtaking view.
Drinks at the 2 amazing bars are very affordable.
Diving centre with Manu excursion every day!
Gym is well equiped.
Staff at reception always try and accommodate your request, if they are not able to leave you your room after check out, there is a shower room at the SPA center.
Boat transfer is also well organise, brand new speedboat you reach the resort from MALE’ in about 45/55 min.
I will defenetly visit this resort agin and again!

Nothing is impossible at Summer Island Maldives!

With a torrential rain kicking in, weak internet to follow, activities suspended due to the weather, the staff and location of Summer Island was the PERFECT RETREAT to do absolutely nothing. For any request I've asked, the staff were quick to deliver - from an upgrade of my room (superior vista to water villa), to helping me get setup temporary with 3G connection for my pending important work, to offering a rain jacket and muscle relaxant ointment at no cost when needed. The complimentary snorkeling trip was worth every minute - so much to see underwater from parrot fish to turtles and stunning reefs! The 10 minute free upper body massage at the spa was award winning. The live band one day of the week was exceptionally good and as a solo traveler, kept me entertained. Everything was within budget for a high end deliverable. If anyone is wishing to visit Maldives and cannot afford to splurge excessively, Summer Island seals the deal with being wallet friendly and delivering what the other 5 star resorts deliver - exceptional service. I highly recommend staying here and if you can book into the water villa - DO IT in a heartbeat. Raafu the assistant manager is one incredible human as is, his staff.

Anniversary trip

It is a perfect getaway I and my wife were dreaming for. The speed boat was arranged within 10 minutes of our arrival at the airport. It took us close to 45 minutes to reach the resort. The staff was very warm and they make you feel special.

We booked two nights at watervilla and one night at the superior beach bungalows. We loved both of them but liked staying in the beach rooms than the watervilla. The food was amazing too. On the negative side, we would've liked more vegetarian options and the dive center prices were very expensive. Overall it was a perfect stay.

Es war ein wunderschöner und erholsamer Urlaub. Die kleine Insel ist traumhaft. Ausnahmslos jeder Mitarbeiter war total freundlich und geradezu herzlich. Das Essen ist hervorragend. Wer eine Premium Beach Villa oder eine Water Villa bucht, kann zusätzlich ein A-la-carte-Restaurant besuchen, das Köstlichkeiten anbietet und auch ein separates Frühstücksbuffet hat, mit Tischen direkt am Meer.

Overall, we had a great time and all staff members (with the exception of those at Front Desk) were exceptionally kind & professional. Front Desk was once again a complete disaster. This was my third visit to Summer Island, yet the first thing they asked me was to settle my bill for the Christmas Gala Dinner (150 USD/person). At the same time, they failed to inform us about the food & drink credit included in our stay. Only when I specifically asked about it was when they said something about it. Front Desk staff is overly focused on payment collection, which creates an unpleasant atmosphere and undermines the sense of Trust(!) they claim to have toward their “Valued Guests”. They also neglected to inform us about the wine & cheese tasting organised for returning guests. Obviously, they do not even know who their returning guests are. We only discovered the tasting event by chance since Avi Bar staff remembered us from last year. There seem to be too many staff members at Front Desk without clear roles and responsibilities. Their English language skills is limited, and interaction often feels scripted and repetitive, hardly what one expects from a fine island resort. Just like last year, the mandatory Christmas Gala Dinner was a rip-off. To make matters worse, some guest (e.g. in room 273), became seriously ill for several days after the Gala Dinner. This is completely unacceptable! My final remark is that compared to last year prices have increased, yet quality has declined!

L'isola offre diversi punti per fare ottimi bagni.Condividiamo in pieno la scelta di limitare la plastica(complimenti).
