Very old, fans don't work, shower heads need to be changed, the shower is clogged and starts to overflow And parking is terrible. Its ok i guess for an emergency stay. I don’t think I’ll be staying here again.

The place was extremely hot with a window that opens half way. I had a headache and nausea due to this. No hot water. I found a large roach walking near my luggage. I just would not recommend. I booked for one week I only ended up staying 2 days. I also did not receive any refund from the hotel.

First room right before going to bed I saw 2 bed bugs walking next to the headboard, went to the front desk and told them about the issue. Was moved to another room in a higher floor, no live bed bugs but I did see at least 4 dead ones close to the bed.

NOT SUITABLE FOR LADIES OR THOSE MOBILITY ISSUES

You get what you paid for. Sector crowded with prostitutes. Absolutely not suitable for women traveling alone. Had issue with breakfast, cheese spoiled, hair in scrambled eggs. You've to ask for showerhead, bathroom just mopped. Hotel expects you to cancel full amount at check in, otherwise daily. Price listed on line for breakfast not correct. With hot temperatures in Medellin it's impossible to cool the room, not even during eve/night hours. Bed sheets shabby looking. Personnel is nice, just doing their job within their possibilities. Website should be upgraded. No access for handicapped, steep chairs to entrance. Cheap price, cheap service. If you book, ask for higher floors, noise will be less of a nuisance. I can not recommend people. You don't control what's happening in your sector.

Good place to stay and inexpensive.

I do have to say the location is not for everyone but I like the area a lot and I had a really good stay here. I think it is my second or third time and this stay was the best so far. The room was spacious, employees are very nice and helpful and it served my needs for this trip in the city. I started by booking three nights but extended it since I was made so comfortable. I will stay there again in the future. I forgot to return the key card and left two shirts in the room but hopefully they will have me there again...lol...thank you to the staff for being very friendly!

Not the worst but not the best!

As backpackers, we read a review that Itagui was a decent neighbourhood to stay in. Although the hotel is on a back street, so quieter, the area doesn't feel very safe. Even local friends who visited said the area is not great and advised us to move. Police everywhere, people trying to get us to spend money in their clothes shops, tons of fast food but not many nice restaurants...
Check in was okay, you need to speak Spanish as the staff don't speak English there. The room wasn't bad, small but clean. Bed was really hard and only got 1 thin pillow each. However, the bedroom and bathroom windows opened onto the inside of the hotel so it was soooooo hot, all the time. Unbearable to be in during the day, and at night we had the wall fan on but could barely sleep as it was so noisy. Needs some decent air con! We did tell somebody about how hot the room was but they just laughed.
Went for dinner on the first night and had prawn cocktail - in the picture it showed it with salad and avocado, I checked if it was the same dish, but when it came it was just prawns in a sea of chopped onion and tangy sauce :-/ Also, while we ate we could hear nothing but amorous sounds from a bedroom window above! Not the hotel's fault, but not the best soundtrack to our dinner!
Good WiFi and hot shower, although the listing said a rainfall head, and ours was more like a jet of water from a garden hose! Still, after so many cold showers elsewhere this was appreciated.

The room was tiny and the wifi never worked. The hotel staff undercharged us by a very small amount and was very rude about demanding the difference be paid despite the lack of wifi and poor facilities.

I was just wondering if they could make the bathroom smaller. I mean shoot if your gonna make it that small you might as well go the whole way and just put a urinal or even just a sink/toilet combo like jail right next to the bed. If your gonna commit go all the way.

Nice budget hotel.

The bed could be softer. However this is great for the price. Wish they offered more rooms with airconditioner, but the weather was fine so that no Aircon was needed. This hotel is in the mayorista area, across from the truck stop complex with markets.

Room was cleaned every day. Restaurant has pretty good food at a decent price. You can eat better and eat cheaper, but it's so convenient. No A/C but room had a fan and it was enough. Just keep your window open. I didn't spend any time during the day at the hotel anyway; I was exploring Medellin! You should too. Small room yet efficient. Good view from the bar upstairs. Pool table isn't functional though. Staff were very friendly. When I go back to Medellin I will definitely consider here again. Cheap, clean, close to metro.

The hotel location is great..2 blocks from the beach, on the main road tonthe old city so you can catch a cub or a bus in no time...the hotel staff were great and breakfast was quite rich. The over design was a bit old but very clean and comfortable ...weve enjoyed it very much

great place for the price!

great service and friendly staff. I felt safe the whole time even walking the streets at night. Not too far from the hotel there is a noisy area with bars, clubs and girls (but that exists everywhere here). I would not recommend the area for a family!
The price is more than reasonable and they also have great restaurant at first level.

Newer hotel that's good value for the money.

Stayed for 3 nights at 19 US dollars a nite. Hotel is newer hotel, located about 1/2 mile from metro station. I thought area was safe and walked to and from metro at nite and never felt threaten. Has rooftop bar that has good views. Hotel staff will wash your clothes on site. No a/c but room fan was adequate.

Medellin on a budget bargain

Can't complain for a 20 dollar a night hotel, but there is no air conditioning, but I did not need it this week. It was cold and rainy all week. You are out of town a little, but within walking distance of the metro, so not a problem. For the price, this is an excellent bargain, with restaurant and bar with a view. Ask for a room with a window view

Really good for the Price!

Excellent service , staff really good, th wry make you feel like home. Restaurant pricea are really affordable ,they have a menu everyday for$4.5 which include a drink. The only cons about this hotel it is too noisy, you need a earhead or just heard some music or tv, besides that excellent! :-)

The hotel itself is excellent. Clean, tidy, great service (only Spanish language though). Good restaurant for food. Location in a less desirable part of town but still fine. Easy ten minute taxi (6USD) to central Medellin.

Room rates were good. The hotel was basic and clean, but constantly noisy - day and night. The rooms are overlooking a central atrium and acoustics were very poor. There's constant movement and noise. The kitchen is located in that central atrium so your nose is constantly assaulted by the smell of cooking. Hotel staff were friendly enough but spoke very little English so communication was difficult. I moved out after 1 night

I enjoyed my stay. The room is very simple and has no air conditioning. But there are vans. The price is very good because the metro is easily accesible by foot and you can have a freshly made breakfast for you by a very friendly staff. It's a great experience for someone who wants a taste of the Medellin people at their hotel.

Hotel Alcaravan

The Hotel Alcaravan is located in the Itagui neighborhood of Medellin, Columbia close to the Ayura Metro stop and many buses. The hotel is inexpensive but totally adequate with a comfortable bed, private bathroom and very nice staff (if you speak Spanish and really why not learn if you don't?). The neighborhood is not a swanky tourist locale like Poblado but more of a working class type place with a huge market complex across the street. You can easily take the Metro anywhere but I recommend taking a taxi at night. I always travel with earplugs and you'll probably need them for street noise. The room has a fan, which was adequate for the hotter hours of the day. The hotel has rooms facing the inner core of the building and others with windows facing the street.

For $24 this is a great find! I would stay again without hesitation.

The Staff was great and helpful, they had a restaurant in the hotel food was great and had room service up until 10:30 pm. Clean room and great location for shopping and Metro train station to see many places in Medellin, Colombia safe and clean area in itagui, Medellin. I will stay here again when I return for more business.

Hotel Alcaravan in Medellin is a true value

Hotel Alcaravan really, in my opinion, under promised and over delivered! My room was serviced every day with clean towels and crispy sheets. The wall mounted flat screen and radio/cd player were a pleasant surprise. The over sized shower was also appreciated. Their restaurant served up some really great food, especially breakfast. The daily rates were heaven sent for a bargain shopper such as myself. The only down side being that the buildings interior configuration can make for a lot of unwanted noise in the late night or early morning. However a set of ear plugs can rectify the situation.

Pésimo servicio en el área administrativa. Cobraron tres tarifas diferentes . Una completa desorganización de este hotel. El servicio de restaurante terrible , mesas sucias y atenciones con tiempos mayores a 30 minutos.
No lo recomiendo.

Nos gusto muchísimo la ubicación del hotel, el desayuno era muy bueno me entanto la oportunidad de poder variar el desayuno por 1000 pesos o 2000 pesos por persona dependiendo lo que pidieras. La zona en donde esta ubicado es una zona segura, las habitaciones son pequeñas pero si buscas solo donde dormir estar bien por un precio extra puedes tener aire acondicionado.
El Internet muy bueno nunca tuvimos problema y la señora de la recepción fue súper amable el día que llegamos, nos explico todo muy bien.
Lo único es que hay un poco de ruido por los camiones. Pero un hotel que recomiendo.

Super mal experiencia separé por la página de Hoteles.com el hotel para tres personas cuando cuando llegamos demora en el checkin y solamente nos dieron una habitación encerrada de una cama pequeña para tres la segunda noche pedimos cambio de habitación dos dieron otra cama doble para las tres y nos ofrecieron una colchoneta pero había que pagar demás cosas que yo hice la reserva para tres no para dos mala experiencia mal servicio
