The room was pretty small. You had to step up to the bathroom and the washer/dryer. There's a microwave, sink, dishes and utensils in the room.

The area was not very welcoming though. The taxi we had said it was not easy to get to. There's a lot of bars around in the area and a couple of restaurants. I wouldn't want to be there late at night alone. No shopping at all.

Hotel had free items like brushes, toothbrushes, etc in the lobby. They had free water bottles and water. Coffee was there but not available after 5pm.

We stayed at their Shibuya hotel and the location was more convenient in terms of shops and location to a subway.

A nice cozy hotel with excellent staff. The two front clerks whom I spoke to were fluent in English and were very friendly and professional. I made a huge mistake in my reservation, and Mr. Okamoto was very helpful and understanding in resolving my problem. He reassured me that everything is taken care of, which was confirmed by an email minutes later. I can't thank him enough! The hotel itself had numerous amenities, including a washing machine right in the room! The property is very secure with the front doors locking after 12am, which visitors then will need to be buzzed in after hours. The elevators are also card-activated, so not just anyone can go to the rooms. I highly recommend this place!

Room was clean, staff was very friendly, ease of check-in and check-out process. The place is close to ikebukuro station, making this place a very good location. The housekeeping is limited and only one thorough one during our stay, which is not an issue. The amenities were self-serve, although we did run out of tissue paper and we didn't know where to find more in the hotel. WiFi is available throughout. Coffee and other drinks were free and available, making our mornings a great start before we went our ways for shopping and sight seeing. My parent was also in the same hotel but this made it a bit tricky as they could not access the same floor without the keycard so we met in the lobby before she could use her keycard to bring me to her room and vice versa if she had something to bring us. This was great for security reasons but slightly cumbersome. Not too big of a deal! Overall, we will keep this place in mind for when we return! Thank you!

After a few days in capsule hotels, Tokyo Stay Ikebukuro had great amenities with a convenient location to the station. Having my own laundry machine in unit with an actual fridge and microwave was amazing. The staff was always kind and helpful whenever I needed anything. Would definitely book again if whenever I’m in Tokyo.

I stayed at Tokyu Stay Ikebukuro recently, and overall it was a great experience — especially for travelers who want comfort, convenience, and a bit more space than a typical Tokyo hotel.

What I Loved

• Amazing Location
Right in the heart of Ikebukuro, super close to restaurants, convenience stores, nightlife, and the station. You can get anywhere in Tokyo easily, and the area feels safe even late at night.

• Washer/Dryer in the Room
A HUGE plus. Being able to do laundry inside my room saved me a ton of time.
(Although the machine panel is all in Japanese took a little learning curve. But once you figure it out, it’s super convenient.)

• Clean & Modern Rooms
The room was spotless, quiet, and surprisingly roomy for Tokyo. The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping was reliable.

• Good Amenities
Microwave, mini fridge, air purifier, and a well-designed bathroom.
The fog-free mirror in the bathroom was a nice surprise, something Japan does way better than most hotels.

Things That Could Be Improved

• Laundry Machine Instructions
If you don’t speak Japanese, the washer/dryer can be confusing at first. A small guide with select languages in the room would help a lot.

Great being so close to a Yamamoto line stop so that the rest of Tokyo was easily accessible. However be warned that there does seem to be quite a few strippers on the block. Other than that the room was nice and clean but fairly small, and the staff were super helpful and lovely.

This is my idea of a very basic needs hotel, but perfect for a short stay at a very reasonable cost. Free coffee/tea in the lobby from 7: to 23:00. Only a 5 minute walk to Ikebukuro Station West entrance. Would definitely stay here again.

I loved this hotel! Everything about it was clean and inviting! The things that stand out the most as different from other hotels is that it feels like a small apartment. It has a washer/dryer, a refrigerator with a freezer, microwave, and dishes. It was a short walk from the train station so it was very convenient. I would stay here again.

I had the most enjoyed my 13 nights at Tokyu Stay-Ilebukuro. It was conveniently located near the Ilebukuro Train station; walking distance to Sunshine City, and Tobu,Lumine,Seibu shopping stores. Lots of nearby restaurants.
In addition to the great location, the Tokyu Stay front desk and housekeeping staff were all wonderful and tried to help me (I do not speak Japanese) when I was in need of assistance.
My room included a small kitchenette, dining table, washer/dryer combo. All of which made my stay very comfortable. The lobby area had self-serve coffee and cold water; and a nice seating area to relax and have a snack. There’s also a touch screen “Next Destination” monitor TV to help you decide where to explore.
An overall wonderful experience.

Tokyu Stay Ikebukuro is a savvy choice for travellers seeking comfort and convenience in Tokyo’s vibrant northwest. Just a few minutes’ walk from Ikebukuro Station, this hotel puts you within steps of major train lines, shopping, and local eateries, yet sits on a quiet street. Just beware when entering from Gekijo Dori (where the nearest 7-11 and FamikyMart are) due to the presence of street touts for a few of the “exciting bars.”

Moderate Double room is compact but thoughtfully equipped, featuring a washing machine (with detergent provided), microwave, fridge, and free Wi-Fi—perfect for extended stays. You can get free freshly brewed coffee from the reception area as well as water from the water cooler (you can get a free bottle to take home per guest).

Directions : Look for Exit C1b from Ikebukuro Station. Turn left & left again into small lane. In a min, u will arrive.
Room : Equipped like a mini apartment. Table is rather wobbly in our room.
Breakfast : Choice of western or Japanese. Don’t choose Japanese if you’re in a hurry. U need time to bring it to your own room to cook & consume. It’s a novel idea & the butter chicken curry meal was nice.
Service : Great!
Extras : Welcome pastry & seasonal gift box of simple snacks adds a delightful touch.
This is a no frills hotel. Buy your own drinking water & ladies, bring your own skincare.

Nice hotel near Ikebukuro station

We picked this hotel for its proximity to Ikebukuro station. The limousine bus from Narita airport stops very near to the hotel. The hotel is new with very friendly staff. The lobby has an area with one large and a few small tables. The included breakfast could be taken as breakfast or supper. You pick up frozen items and a rice steamer and prepare the meals in your room. The room was so small that there was hardly room for two pieces of carry on luggage but it did have a table, two chairs, a kettle, a hot plate, pot, Sink, fridge with freezer, and washer/dryer combo. The staff provided English instructions on how to use the equipment. There was complementary and coffee in the lobby. There are many restaurants and shops in the area. I would stay here again.

I got injured staying here

Broken sink which I hurt myself on. Staff rude and wouldn’t help me. I was having severe trouble getting the trolley into my room and a staff member walked past, and stared at me for 30 seconds before finally saying something despite me being very upset and clearly having a ton of trouble. I even hurt my hand cause the trolley squished it.

Room size was typical small size for Tokyo hotels but very clean, and came equipped with a functional microwave and washer dryer combi! I also really liked the smart TV that had Netflix and Youtube amongst others. While the hotel itself is quiet and secure, you have to walk about 1-2 dark streets to get to it and at night it was slightly noisy because I think there are some food establishments nearby. Nevertheless, enjoyed my stay and would come back!

Great place for longer-term stay

Tokyu Stay hotels are great for extended stays, thanks to the in-room clothes washer, hot plate, etc. I only stayed a single night this time, but have stayed at Tokyu Stay hotels on a number of longer trips in the past. The room this time was a bit smaller than others in the same chain I've stayed in, but was still larger than many Japanese rooms.

This hotel is on the West side of Ikebukuro Station, which is less-developed and a bit more old-school than the East side. It's just a block or two from one of the station exits (I forget, think it was Exit 6), so not a bad walk at all, even if it's raining - maybe 5 minutes to the entrance, 10 minutes to the gates.

Ikebukuro station is very easy to navigate since all the gates are connected to the main underground corridor, and a number of train lines come together here, so it's easy to get other places you need to go. It's northwest of Tokyo proper, so consider where you want to spend your time, but for me it's perfect as most of the people I know and companies I visit are on the West side of the city.

Ikebukuro is also a fun area to stay in, with many small restaurants, bars and clubs and a very young feel to it. (Although more of the activity is on the East side of the station than the West.)

Overall, highly recommended, but the East side of the station is a bit more lively with things that would interest Westeners.

Tokyu Stay Ikebukuro has become my go-to when I do my yearly travel to Tokyo! The location is so convenient it’s a 3 min walk to the nearest train station exit C6 with escalators (many exits in Japan are stairs only). There are a lot of actions going on in the area but the hotel is located in a quiet street so you get the best of the two worlds. The staff is super friendly and helpful and my favorite hotel amenity here is def the washer/dryer in unit. I hate taking home dirty clothes so I’m loving doing laundry in the comfort of my own room before heading home. They also provide all sorts of toiletries free for grabs if you need extras (two pairs of slippers in room as well). For the price paid you def get a huge bang of your buck here. Ikebukuro is also a hub for going places in Tokyo on the variety of subway/train lines so I def recommend it!!!

Front desk staff just not helpful. They refuse to even try to communicate in English, except for 1 lady. She wasnt there all the time. Extremely frustrating to deal with them. You ask them a question and they take 10 minutes to just understand exactly what you want. Then using translate tool, ask you the same question that you asked them. In the end, you have justcwasted your time. We ended up taking help from our hotel staff in Kyoto. They were kind enough to help us wirh things about Tokyo.
Some nice things about this hotel. Convenient location and 1 minute walk to the JR/metro stations. Only drawback is thst its not on the main road and is licated on a side street. So on way to this hotel, you have to pass by some adult bars, adult entertainment cebters, sone drunk people. But as soon as you come on the main street, its a whole different thing. Amszing neighborhood. We will not stay at Tokyu Stay next time we visit Japan. It will be some other hotel even if we have to pay slightly more. We will still stay in Ikebukuro since its just amazing and convenient to go to places like Shinjuku (4 stops away), Ginza and Shibuya crossing.

Everything was exactly as advertised. Having the washer/dryer in the unit was great. I will stay here again someday.

Loved the connivence of the hotels location. Clean room, great to have the washer/dryer available. Easy walking distance to Ikebukuro Station, shopping and food. Lovely staff who were super helpful. Would stay again.

The hotel is so close to the train station, just a few minutes walk. Loved having a washer/dryer in the unit. It does get to be a bit noisy like any other machine, so I would recommend getting ear plugs at daiso if you run it overnight.
If you're into it, there are a lot of girls bar and karaoke bars near the hotel so there are a lot of drunk people at night.

Simple straight forward business hotel, with washing machine and dryer in room provided. Good for a place to stay for the night. Quite close to an interchange substation, so accessible to other places as well. 👍

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room is rather spacious as a business hotel in Tokyo especially for its bathroom. The in-unit washer/dryer is the best part! Super walkable and close to the subway station but still very quiet. Would def consider going back next time visiting Tokyo!

Washer n dryer was inside my room, that is a plus point, but room is super tiny, hardly able to walk comfortably. Beside the hotel there is a cafe that serve good breakfast n other meals. Prefer to walk from Exit C1 which is nearer to hotel and also safer bcos the other side is abit complicated as we saw a few drunken man...also there is people singing Karaoke very loudly. For the price i would say is still worth staying here.
