-No water pressure in the shower.
-The buffet tables are not old traditional or very french feeling; A table cloth and better flatware would go a long way for making the plain buffet feel more inviting and cute quaint.
-They allow smoking in the courtyard so eating outside is not an option for a non smoker.
-Carpet flooring in the rooms

The pos:
-If the price is right for you, then it is a good find for a few+ nights in Paris.
-It is clean and cute and the rooms are average or slightly larger size.
-The staff are warm; some are friendly, and some are polite; A list of good local brasserie's, restaurants, and evening lounges on a small pocket sized simplified walking map would be a great item for guests upon check in.
-Great location, central to many top tourist sights and a few good neighborhoods, as well as evening lounges, brasseries, and just night time strolls.

What a lovely respite after a long flight to Paris. This charming hotel encapsulates all the best of traditional French hospitality. I particularly loved the jasmine infused garden for breakfast and an aperitif in the afternoon. The service is warm and gracious. The staff are very kind, and the room was spotless. Well situated and at an excellent price,.. I have already referred friends; and look forward to my next visit.

Highly recommend. The staff are always polite and friendly, wanting to assist with all your needs. It was my birthday and they provided a complimentary bottle of wine and booked a wonderful restaurant for us. Location is great, close to bakery, brasserie, convenience store, pharmacy and fruit and veg. Easy walk to Eiffel Tower. Lovely courtyard where you can opt for continental breakfast or a quick breakfast of coffee and pastries. A wonderful experience for a first time visitor to Paris. Room was very clean and had everything you need. Bathroom large and included a spa bath too.

The staff at Hotel de Varenne was pleasant, helpful, and the highlight of staying at the hotel. Overall the hotel provides good value for the price. Bed was comfortable and water pressure was strong in the shower. The room did run a bit warm for me and required me to open a window for most of the stay.

The hotel is located in a very quite area within walking distance from many major landmarks and close to convenient Metro stations.

I enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good budget option.

The hotel is located in a neighborhood with mostly residential and government buildings around. It is within walking distance of the main sites one has to see while in Paris.
The hotel lobby is small, in a typical old style Parisian building but it is clean and the staff are very friendly. On hot days you can leave the window open for a nice breeze but note the usual street noise during the day and trash trucks in the early mornings. The rooms are old fashioned but well kept and the bathrooms are spacious for European standards.
For breakfast, you may get more for your buck in an outside Boulangerie but the advantage of the express breakfast menu at the hotel (5 euros for coffee and a basket of bread) is that they serve it as early as 7 am.

The staff is incredibly friendly, nice and accommodating. The hotel inner garden is quite and a great place to unwind in the evening. This is prime location. You can walk to the Eiffel tower, Louvre and Orsay museums. Many great restaurant near by and there's a great bakery almost next door.

Lovely central location near Invalides. Nice 20 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower and 30 from Notre Dame, 20 from Champs Elyse’s. We walk quite quickly though! Hotel is on a quiet street and very quiet relaxing feel about it. Would highly recommend. Can’t comment on food because we ate out. Very safe location.

My husband and I had an amazing stay! First, the location was perfect, even though the weather was cold, we walked eerywhere! From the outside, the hotel is lovely, the interior is charming and warm. The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We were worried about the typical small rooms in Paris hotels, so we booked the suite. It was certainly more space than we needed for two, but at the end of a busy day, we felt like we were returning to a luxurious apartment that had been carefullly attended to. We will absolutely stay there again!

So here you will see my full, extensive review. To keep it efficient and best for you, I will write both a short and a long version — whichever works best for you!
In short: The room facilities were not functional at all. The toilet and shower were not draining. The hotel’s solution was to take no action or change the room. To be honest, they said it was fully booked — but that doesn’t make their problem mine. The only reason I chose this hotel was its location and the fact that it’s a classic.
My review:
We arrived at check-in, dropped our luggage, and went out for dinner after a six-hour drive from the Netherlands.
When we returned to our room, the toilet didn’t drain. We spoke to the reception to fix it or change the room. The staff member on duty that night tried to clear it himself, which only made it lock while not in use — it would only flush water. If you used the toilet for its actual purpose, it would not flush.
Then we moved to the shower to refresh, and again it wasn’t draining. I went back to the night shift team, and the only response I got was “okay” — with absolutely zero effort to fix anything.
The next morning around 9:30–10:00, I asked for the manager. She wasn’t there yet, so I gave the keys back to the reception and kindly asked them to find a solution. When I escalated through Expedia, they said they had spoken to the manager, who confirmed “everything works as it should.” When I returned in the evening, nothing was fixed, and no notes were left for th

The staff were all very courteous, receptive, and hospitable. I would give them 5 stars for the excellent staff. The hotel itself is quaint, has a great location, and is very walkable. The hotel is a little old which is true of a lot of hotels, but the rooms and particularly the bathroom is well sized for Paris. The one thing that detracted a bit was that the bed was very firm and the mattress did not breathe well, so even though it was winter, it was hard to sleep well with the humidity under the duvet and we often woke up to either throw off the blanket or pull it back up when it got cooler.

The hotel looks quaint and beautiful. I was delighted to be given a 'suite'.
Sadly this was a room on the ground floor with a window to the street with a noisy bar opposite so sleep was a challenge.
Add to this a room key that regularly failed to work the door lock and a receptionist who suggested a simple hack to unlock the door, my comfort level was not high when eventually shutting my eyelids.
Other than this the room itself was fine and I did not get a chance to test the broader hotel facilities.
Really sad as this is a great location.

The services provided by the staff was excellent and the room was adequate. The neighborhood is perfect for walking to many attractions and it was quiet at night. However, the property itself is not what I expected for a 4 star hotel. The bathroom sink filled up quickly because it did not drain properly. There was mildew in the shower guard, and the closet squeaked loudly. For what we paid per night, I felt that breakfast should have been included.

The hotel is in a great location, just next to the Musee Rodin and Les Invalides, and just five minute walk from the National Assembly. We had a very warm and professional welcome by the gentleman at the check-in desk. We booked a suite and we received room #1, which is on the ground floor and was described as the \"garden view suite\" -- the reality is that the windows of the bedroom and the bathroom looked to the busy street where pedestrians and car drivers could easily see inside, so we had to have the blinds closed all the time. The only part with a \"garden view\" was the living room which had a window that opened to the inside courtyard, but hotel guests would walk past and could easily look inside once again... The suite is large and beautifully appointed with glorious gold wallpaper and older furniture. The living room has a couch that becomes a double bed and a writing desk that one can use to do work. There is also a mini-fridge, but it is only used for the mini-bar items. The hotel does not allow guests to use the fridge for their own waters or drinks -- very unfortunate. Plenty of closet space. The spacious bathroom had a jacuzzi tub (we did not use) and a separate shower. Great water pressure! The largest problem by far with the room was the overwhelming sense of mustiness. It appears that the AC units are full of mold and when you turn them on mold spores are spread in the room and produce a very bad smell. I would have given a higher rating if this were not the ca

This was our second stay at the hotel. Back in 2018 I proposed to my now wife in the hotel courtyard. The hotel has a special meaning for us. The breakfast is good. The location is also good as it is in a quiet area. It was very close to the Rodin Miseum and Napoleon’s tomb. Underground train station just a block away.

Hotel De Varenne was a lovely little hotel secreted away in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. The staff were very helpful, the room was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay. Convenient walking to Rodin Musee, the Musee D'Orsay, the Eiffel Tower and a little further to Notre Dame. We chose to have the generous daily continental breakfast which was great. The wifi was the only issue that was a bit painful (very slow or non-existent), but our understanding was this issue was unusual and an internet technician was coming to fix it. All else was tres bon.

Staff were very friendly and was very helpful when we had questions. I also love that thing held her luggage until my room was ready. They also helped us with setting up transportation to various activities and to the airport. The only thing I did not like is that the rooms were smaller than how it appeared in the pictures options for English on the TV I could not get it to work and staff was not able to help me fix it. The elevator was very very small that only one person and two bags could be an elevator at one time. Considering all I have fond memories of my stay.

Room was comfortable. We had the room overlooking the courtyard which allowed us to open the window for fresh air. The drawback to this was smoke wafting up and loud voices. Our last night added very loud noises from the neighbouring building well after midnight. Staff was very pleasant. We didn’t eat breakfast in the dining room, but it smelled wonderful. Neighborhood has patisserie, produce, and a small store very close. Within walking distance to many museums and sights.

The staff personnel were very friendly and accommodating. I appreciated their efforts to correct a small issue I had with my original room by moving me to another room quickly. I also had a small issue with wifi when I moved to the new room, which they quickly attended to as well. The breakfast was more than sufficient, delicious and prepared well. The only issue I had was the lack of AC during the hot days of my stay at the Varenne. They have AC but it was not yet turned on for the season. Thankfully colder weather finally moved back in. Opening windows was a decent alternative. Alex and Kenza were fabulous in giving us food recommendations and assisting me with my needs.

As a frequent visitor to Paris, this is undoubtedly my favourite hotel. Points scored for having a beautifully planted garden where you can have breakfast, drinks or a smoke. The Rodin is just around the corner as well as the Invalides. The rooms are nice size for Europe. There is a small one person elevator otherwise taking the stairs.

El hotel está muy bien ubicado, cerca a restaurantes, tiendas de comida, parada de bus, estación de metro y sitios turísticos. El personal en recepción es muy amable, de los mejores que he conocido en mi vida. El desayuno estuvo muy bien también.
