The bed is too firm and small for a “double”. No temp control plus the hospital lighting combined did not yield a sense of comfort. Breakfast was good considering it’s free and the location is very close to Sunshine City.

Hotel is in quiet area but very close to Sunshine City, shopping and restaurant. About 10-15 mins walk to Metro. The wifi network is unstable. Love the free buffet breakfast with lot of different variety dishes everyday, great staff and service, thank you.

The staffs are very friendly. I also like the included breakfast. I don’t like that there seems to be smoky smell coming from the central air conditioning system. This hotel still use a physical metal key (no electronic card key)and only one key is being issued to each room, although you can leave your key at the front desk when going out. Overall, the staff are the stars for this hotel.

A nice, lived-in business hotel just a stone's throw away from the craziness of Highashi-Ikebukuro.

It was clearly a rebranded branch of an old business hotel chain, but personally, that adds to the charm to me. Showa/bubble-era places have extra appeal that I look for when I travel to Japan.

Good breakfast, and amenities relative to the price paid.

Convenient location, close to the Sunshine City mall and main street in Ikebukuro area that has the new Animate store. Lots of food and souvenir stores to explore.

Room itself was a decent size for Japanese standards, we got the non-smoking room and had no odor (I'm pretty sensitive to cigarette odors). Bathroom and room was clean, no questionable stains on the sheets :)

Staff is friendly, helpful and know some English as well for those travelers that don't speak any Japanese. They were able to store our luggage before check-in and even took our bags up to our room once one was available. They also held our bags after check-in so we could do a bit more exploring before leaving the area.

Very close to Sunshine City and other shops including the flagship Animate store and the largest Pokémon centre. The hotel included breakfast daily although it does look as though it could do with a refresh as furniture had a few bumps and bruises and decor looked dated. Staff were very friendly l, welcoming and helpful. I would stay here again when visiting Tokyo.

Great location. 2 minute stroll to Sunshine City.
Rooms are bigger than usual Japanese business hotels I've stayed.
Breakfast buffet included in price and is very good.
Hotel is a bit old though and is in need of renovation.
1 of the 2 elevator was out of action during my 4 nights stay there making it really inconvenient. I stayed on 3rd floor and it was much quicker for me to take the stairs.

I could stay with Expedia price. Those were nice price. But can not recommend hotel's original price. Room was very small. Wifi was very slow. Bed was very hard. Room was too cold and could not adjust AC's power(temp). Bath was very small. Window could be opened but very noisy outside Highway. Breakfast buffet was insane. Most of dishes were empty. Too many people.

The size of hotel is not that big so it’s not crowded.
But the bathroom has smell, not so clean.
And pillow is too hard but ok for sleep.

Great stay overall. Free breakfast buffet style, menu differs slightly daily. Everyday you opt to not have them change your sheets (they still provide new towels daily and clear the trash), they give you one token per person for a drink of your choice at their vending machine (includes beer). Staff are friendly and always all smiles. Only thing was that they strictly do not allow early check in, which was a bummer as we arrived at 12noon and were really dying to wash up after a long flight but was told we have to come back at 3pm. However, they do allow you to leave the bags with them in the lobby and they will bring them up to the room for you. We have always stayed in ikebukuro for our yearly trip the past 6 years, absolutely love this place as it is very convenient to get to eateries. Right in between ikebukuro and Higashi ikebukuro station which is a bit of a walk but doable (around 10 mins give or take)

really nice hotel, easy to check in and friendly staff that spoke really good English. room was nice,good size and nice facilities. no cupboard space which was a shame but there was a bench so used that to lay out our clothes. breakfast was nice, quiet a lot to choose from including traditional Japanese things and plainer foods for those that are a bit fussier like myself. good scheme on cleaning the rooms,having a basic one each day and full cleans on a Saturday, if you agree to this it 1 helps the environment but they also give you a free drink each from their vending machine which is a great idea to help. offer deals like cheaper tickets to the aquarium at sunshine city. train station is 10 minuets walk and same for sunshine city. really easy to navigate your way around and nice that its all so close. really good price as well for the room and breakfast being included. great place to stay, would recommend!

This is the 3rd time I'm staying at the Ark in Ikebukuro. A good, clean, no frills business hotel, small but clean and comfy rooms, the bed on the harder side, the shower small and functional, the pay-per-view catalogue comes with a separate adult selection. The view is usually apartment complexes next to sunshine city, this time my room was on the 4th floor and consisted mostly of wall. If you don't mind any of the above, you get a good hotel in great location (a few minutes walk from exit 35 of Ikebukuro Station with fast connections to everywhere).

It was a little ways away from the Ikebukuro station. Kind of tricky to find. It near by a 24hr mart which was good and right across the street from sunshine city which was also a plus. But the hotel room had no air conditioning and the bed was as hard as the floor! On top of them not having air conditioning the window would only open up a good 4inches! Their was also a air purifier in the room but when we turned that on it blew out warm air which defeated the purpose of being cool. I would not recommend this hotel for comfort. Also I would not book this hotel again for sure!

Location is very convenient to get to tourist destinations such as Shinjuku, Shibuya. Train station is within walking distance, with many shops nearby for food, medicine, and misc items.

Beds are hard, pillows are also hard, so it's a little hard to sleep. Air-conditioning are kept at 28°C for winter and spring, so had to open the window to make it colder. As it is near the street and highway, it is sometimes noisy if you open the window.

i have spent 4 nights at ARK hotel Ikebukuro, very good location if you dont like to walk much to the shopping area. The hotel located only 8-10 mins by walk from Ikebukuro JR Station and you can stop by many shops along the way.

The size of the room for me is a bit too small but the bed is very comfort. The room came with private bathroom and full amenities such as Hair dryer, bath gel, shampoo and conditioner.

During the winter, they will not open the air conditioner for you but you can open the window for the cool breeze.

The staff was great. We left the lugguages at the hotel as we need to spend 1 night in other province and they keep our stuffs well.

So, if you are looking for a place you can easily access to everything, this hotel could be another good choice.

The hotel is located about 10 min walk from Ikebukuro East exit. It is also close to a mall (Sunshine City) and a whole lot of restaurants. The room was pretty spacious for Tokyo standards. The hotel staff are very friendly. They also held my luggage for 7 days when I travelled around the West part of Japan. I was very grateful for that.

Brilliant hotel bit similar to a Travel lodge,rooms cleaned and sheets changed and clean towels every day,don't need to take shampoo or conditioner as a good one supplied by hotel along with face wash and body soap hairbrushes razors women and men all sealed in packets, if you use they replace with new ones excellent shower/bath and hot no matter what time of day hairdryer fridge and a universal adapter for all types of phones supplied by hotel and staff who will help any way they can and for 1100 yen all you can eat buffet that you might think it strange eating Japanese style for breakfast but it's really great having rice and curry for breakfast or pancake rolls sausage egg rice porridge yogurt and granola fruit help your self to coffee tea juice water buns to toast butter and jam also fresh cooked salmon and mackerel this is a hotel i would recommend had a brilliant stay here

The hotel is near all the shopping areas in Ikebukuro. The room is clean and tidy and the staffs provide clean towels, tea bags, comb and toothbrush everyday. However, the staffs do not speak well in english. It is a convenient place with 8 mins walk to Ikebukuro station with 6 different train lines.

I chose this hotel because of the great location near events I'd be attending in Ikebukuro. The room was clean and comfortable. My only issue was that I was relying on the hotel wi-fi to keep in touch with my friends and family and I often had problems with it.

The ARK Hotel in Toshima, aka Ikebukuro is a fairly standard accommodation for Japanese standards, but if you include the price then it's an outstanding value. The rooms are small but typical for a hotel of this type. The bathrooms are a bit larger than most small-roomed-hotels, with a shower you can actually turn around inside. Like many Tokyo hotel rooms, you will find that the bed is the largest item in the rooms, with only a bit of space to place your suitcase as there is no closet. I'd bring a few extra hangers (or buy them locally) if you plan on hanging more than 3 shirts. There is actually a desk which can be used for some minor work but it's small like everything and you might have to sit sideways. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the main Ikebukuro train station and along the way there's many things to do since it's adjacent to the Sunshine City mall entrance.

Surprisingly close to the main hub in Ikebukuro! Only a few minute walk from the main Ikebukuro JR station. Ark Hotel is located directly across the street from Sunshine City - very accessible!

Hotel is small - typical of any other Japanese budget hotels. Facilities & amenities adequate (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, hair dryer). Also, free LAN & wireless internet!!!

Actually i have no any expectation on the room dimension in tokyo. As you may know that the hotel room of Tokyo is regularly small even I booked semi-double bed. It's just like normal if talking about the room demension and condition. So I would like specially to talk the service provisions of hotel. A service attendants are willing to offer the helping hands and fulfill your request even if they are not well in English communication.
So, I am well appericated their EXCELLET SERVICE offered to the guest.

最寄りのコンビニが歩いて3-5分程度です。
部屋やアメニティ等は特に気になる点はありませんでした。エアコンの温度が中央管理で、個室毎の自己調整ができないですが、弱でもそれなりに暖房が効いたので、夜眠れないということもなかったです。エレベーター近くの部屋だったので、防音は△なので、ちょっと朝方うるさかったかな、程度です。

이케부쿠로 역에서 도보 10분 이내에 위치했다는 것이 가장 큰 장점이고, 선샤인도오리 쪽으로 이동하면 길 찾기도 매우 편리하고 좋았습니다. 하네다 공항을 이용하실 경우, 선샤인프린스호텔 루트의 리무진 버스를 승차하면 더욱 편하게 호텔로 이동할 수 있습니다. 호텔 시설은 깔끔했고, 직원분들이 친절하게 대응해주셔서 감사했습니다. 호텔 조식으로 나오는 카레와 샐러드가 무척 맛있어서 아침마다 기분 좋게 식사 할 수 있었습니다. 다만 도로 옆에 위치해 있어 자동차가 질주하는 소리가 아주 크게 들리는 점이 단점입니다. 방음이 잘 안 되기 때문에 예민하신 분들에게는 추천하기 힘들 것 같습니다. 그리고 많은 리뷰에서 볼 수 있듯 매트리스가 무척 딱딱합니다. 저는 바닥에서도 잘 자고 소음에도 예민한 편이 아니라 그냥저냥 잘 묵었습니다. 전반적으로 만족하기 때문에 다음에도 또 이용하고 싶습니다!

２泊３日で宿泊しました。部屋は古いけどよく掃除されています。テレビは国産の32型です。冷蔵庫はとても冷えています。氷迄出来ます。池袋駅迄約５分位で着きます。ルートインは何件に宿泊しましたがこちらのホテルは上位です。食事はレストランが狭いですけど、パンが美味かった。
