Despite my request for a quiet room I was given a room over the noisy restaurant which was closing at 2 am. In addition, there was some sewer odour that enter my room and the corridor every night. However, the hotel was not far from the Metro and food bar which was open 24 hours.

Unfriendly staff with a less than mediocre service

Hotel representative was drunk when we arrived at about 11pm, told us to meet her in the morning, we had paid for breakfast and they refused, stated we didn’t and made us pay for it again.
The first morning as we had been up later than usual we asked their cleaners to come back later as we weren’t dressed but never showed again that day, they arrived again 3 days into our stay to finally clean the room but had only moved our shoes to the side, made the bed and emptied a bin bag even though we had rubbish lying around the room which was clearly rubbish and in bags to be disposed of.
Upon leaving the property the hotel rep knocked on our door 5 minutes before check out, we were very close to being ready and would have been out on time however gave us attitude and hostility that we hadn’t left yet.

Value for money, convenient to Metro.

Hotel is about 200m from Metro station and about 15min train travel to Termini Station. Lift (slow) to all floors. Rooms are spacious, bathroom facilities OK. The staff are very friendly and have good English. Like all European 3* hotels it is hot in summer and very noisy with the windows open. The bed was large and comfortable, bathroom OK, bath but no shower, just a hand-held shower head which is pretty inconvenient. Breakfast was good by Italian standards, with toast, coffee, croissants, fruit drink, yogurt, etc. The neighborhood is working class, fairly dirty (communal garbage bins in the streets) but has a collection of reasonably priced restaurants, most with English menus. If you want class, go somewhere else and pay through the nose for it!
The only real downside was an infestation of ants (on the fourth floor) that got into my backpack and gave me grief on the second day. After that I made sure that my backpack was clean each morning and that there was no food left around in an accessible location.

Good budget option away from the tourist traps

Our room was comfy and spacious. There was a little mould under the window and in the bathroom but overall it was perfectly clean. The hotel is directly under a flight path and there's a glass-recycling dumpster across the street that gets emptied at 7am, so you might not love it if you like silence overnight.

The continental breakfast buffet in the bright terrace upstairs was excellent. Top tip: stock up on the bread, ham, cheese, cake and cookies to make packed lunches. Save yourself some money to buy gelati when you're out!

To access the free WiFi you have to login through one of your social networks. It's quite slow and intermittent but it does the job. Not fast enough to stream Netlflix or whatever, but why would you want to do that when you could be out having a late drink or a meal somewhere?

We really liked the hotel's partner restaurant, right next door. Definitely nicer than the restaurants in town that all offer the same food and try to hustle you out of the door as quickly as possible.

Overall, we were very happy with our choice - not a luxury option, but perfect if you want a nice place to lay your head after a busy day exploring the city.

Owners should invest in reparing and cleanliness

The hotel was ok for the price.
However, the window at my room did not close properly so even during the night, one could hear the cars on the street.
In regards to the cleanliness in the room, it was just at the limit- the floors were dirty and the bathroom smelled awful from the sewage, but overall it was bearable.

The owner/receptionist was nice, even though he did charge us 3.5 per day for the city tax despite the fact that on the site it was only 3.

Ok hotel but would not go back

Overall the hotel was fine, it had a bed and a bathroom. A downside was that the shower had no stand, meaning you had to hold it while you shower. Furthermore we found crumbs on the desk after the cleaning lady had come, although we had not eaten there. Lastly when you checkout you have to pay the tourist tax in cash (despite them having a card machine), something which we wish they had told us upon check in so we would have had cash on us. On the upside the room did have a balcony and the neighborhood was friendly.
Overall we had an okay stay but we would not come back.

Overall, the room and the city guest house was an acceptable place to stay for an evening. However, the area the place is located in is not the best in cleanliness. My wife felt very anxious due to the surroundings. The hotel staff was wonderful and had plenty of information. Everything about the area just made us feel very worried for our safety.

Good hotel for a short stay, easy walk to metro then direct into centre of Rome. There is a fantastic resteraunt right next door, which was fully booked every night we were there, but they found us a table outside, food was fantastic and really reasonably priced. bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was basic, but tasty.

The hotel itself was ok for the money. The positives were that it was close to a metro station which takes you straight to the centre of Rome in 15 minutes. It was clean and checking in and out was easy.
The negatives were that it was very noisy, the walls are very thin and we were woken up continually throughout the night with people making noise. The hotel itself is also a little run down and could be updated. However overall it is good value for money and it is situated close to the centre of Rome.

We got there late and unexpectedy due to a train strike, were put off by the neighborhood ambiance at midnight and our first room was kind of sketchy. Things got better after that in the light of day and the breakfast room and service was quite nice. But being 10 Metro stops out is problematic if there is a transit strike (as was threatened one of the days)!!

Location is excellent, about 5 minutes walk from the metro station which takes you straight into the city centre within 25 minutes! You can buy a one day travel ticket for 6 euros at the station.There are also bars, cafes and shops locally right near the hotel. Staff were accommodating and friendly. Rooms are very clean! Breakfast was basic, nothing special but you can alternatively grab something in the nearby cafes/bars. Overall a great deal for a short stay in Rome!

The staff was helpful at times (when not texting while talking to them at the desk) but seemed rather annoyed with our questions. The rooms were \"okay\" but I would certainly look elsewhere if I ever returned to Rome. Service could be better as the workers were somewhat rude at times, but spoke good English. Would suggest booking elsewhere.

Horrible HOT room in bad part of Rome

After arriving to this hotel after a 14 hour transatlantic flight we were exhausted. Before we were shown the rooms the hotel itself was very hot. Once entering into the room we were assured when the AC was turned on that it would cool. This did not occur! The room was excruciatingly hot! We were assured that a service person would take a look at this while we were eating dinner next door. This did not occur either. Not until we had somebody come up to the room at 11 o'clock pm and all we were told was you will have to get a new room in the morning! Another words just deal with the heat. My wife had to sleep on the patio just to have cool air! This was a horrible experience! This hotel was also in a very bad part of Rome. It was not in a very secure area. I feel that the ad for the hotel and rooms was very misleading. It was nothing like what appeared in the ad. We changed hotels as fast as we could the very next morning!

Convenient and close to metro

This hotel is outside the city, but do not let that deter you; it is only 2 blocks from a metro station that will put you in the heart of Rome in just 10-15 minutes for about 1.5 euros. I HIGHLY recommend to schedule your airport pick up with the hotel for about 45 euros; that's about the cost of a cab anyway and I personally was ripped off by someone at the airport claiming to be a cab driver. Use official white Taxis only! The hotel itself is small, nothing stands out other than the very friendly staff. The room was very clean and the bathroom was quite big by Roman standards, having a tub was nice! The included continental breakfast was quite nice and the restaurant next door is very good and reasonably priced. The neighborhood may seem a little iffy at first but my wife and I walked to and from the Metro station twice a day with zero problems, the people were very nice to us everywhere we went in to ask for directions. Be aware that the walls are paper thin and you can hear people in the room next to yours talking or watching TV. Italy as a whole is super noisy so don't expect a lot of sleep anywhere you stay. The A/C might as well not be there since I couldn't control the temperature at all and the Wi-Fi was awful and slow, this however was my experience in EVERY budget hotel I stayed at in Europe so I can't knock off points off this one just for that. OVERALL I recommend it, it's close to the metro station which will save you a ton in taxis..

Great hotel!

I enjoyed my five-night stay at the City Guest House. It's not located in central Rome but it's still convenient since it's just about 5 minutes walk from the Metro Stop (Numidio Quadrato) . There is a mall nearby the metro stop which has a supermarket, bank, pharmacy, etc. Also there are good restaurants, pizzeria, and gelateria nearby. Room was clean and fairly big for an European hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. My package included free breakfast--it's simple but good for travelers. Recommended!

We stayed there for one week

it was located in a very convenient location. 5 minutes from the Metro.plenty of restaurant around and a small supermarket,small shopping mall and pharmacy all around the Metro.

Staff is nice and friendly.Continental Breakfast serves on the 5 floor and costing £ 5.00 per head.its cheaper.

Our bedding were not change for 5 days and on the 6th day they change it.Beds were not comfortable to sleep.Hard mattress and hard pillows.

This hotel is served by the Metro line A and from this line you all most can visit all major attractions..Excellent connection.

It is well worth the money you pay.

We might have got the best room of the building as it was at the top floor and we had a big balcony. Staff are helpful. Room is clean and breakfast is good. Will stay again. There is a very good pizza restaurant nearby (NOT the one next to the building). Neighbourhood is quiet and safe.

I stayed here for 4 nights with friends for Spring Break, and despite being a little on the pricey side it was a pleasant stay. The lady that was frequently at the desk who was always ensuring that I my stay was going well made sure that all my needs were met. She helped me find things to see once I had exhausted all the touristy things, and she went out of her way to make sure I was more than happy. The location was a 3 minute walk to the metro and didn't take long to get to any of the main points of the city. I enjoyed my stay and would def. recommend this place.

Rome hotel ha ha ha

The hotel rooms had too much discrepancies between them, our friends room was decent. Ours had damaged parquet, leaking water cistern, no heating, two separate beds instead of a double, a pre entry door saying kitchen and finally very thin walls. I could hear the couple next to us having sex it was just like youporn with only the sound. Defiantly recommend it for perverts.

Wonderful Service

The hotel staff was lovely and very helpful and spoke English which was a blessing, especially at the end of the day when my Italian was harder to remember! It was a little tricky to find the first day. We went a little too far down the main road. Later we found the little alley that was a direct line to the Metro and bus stop. Even though there was no comfy seating in the room, there was a loveseat just outside our door and a larger seating area on our floor. Also, the dining area for breakfast was a solarium on the top floor which was open for guest use all day and throughout the evening. Plenty of books in different languages available in the seating areas and the solarium. The breakfast buffet always had a nice selection and it was never so crowded that we felt we had to rush. There were even a couple loveseats with coffee tables in the solarium so you could spread out your map and plan your day while enjoying that last cup of coffee or tea. The computer in the lobby was also helpful and the staff helped us with anything that needed printed. There was a supermarket in a little mall between the Metro station and the hotel so it was convenient to pick up things on the way to and form the hotel. A small fruit market and several casual and carry out restaurants were also nearby.

Great stay in Roma

We chose this location as it was out of town and hence away from the more expensive tourist areas, and it turned out to be a good choice. The hotel staff were fantastic and very helpful, giving us useful advice on a public transport strike and how to best get around. The rooms are basic but clean and tidy.

We had problems with the aircon, but the staff fixed that within 24 hrs.
The local resturants and bars are MUCH cheaper than in the centre of Rome, working at about 1/2 the price.

Getting into the centre was easy. The Metro is only about 200m from the hotel and we used a 5 day ticket for all our travel. The trains run about every 5 mins and are very clean and fast, by far the easiest way to get around.

Overall this was a very good, basic hotel. i'd certainly recommend it to anyone planning on spending most of their time visiting Rome, but who wants a clean and cheap place to sleep.

Quiet getaway inside the city

CIty Guest House is located in the outer area of Rome but it is very close to the metro (about a 2 min walk) and you can take this route all the way to the city center, it will about 20 to 30 minutes by subway to get to the tourist sites but it is faster than the bus.

The area around the hotel offers various shops, restaurants and an excellent fresh market within walking distance. If you are looking to mingle with real Italians and not tourists, this is your spot. There are lots of shopping areas and hidden gems around the neighborhood.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, if you need anything let them know, the hotel also offers free internet access (one computer in the lobby, so you will have to share with the other guests) and for 5 Euros, you can eat breakfast on the top floor.

The only bad things are the plumbing and the AC, the plumbing took some time to drain and at times I thought the shower was backing up but the drain is real slow and the AC does not get cool enough to relieve you after being out in the hot Roman sun all day.

If you are looking for a good hotel with comfy beds and a chance to explore another side of Rome then this is the hotel for you.

Good place to stay if your a heavy sleeper

This hotel is extremely close to a metro station which is one of the only major positive about this hotel as using the metro in Rome is a cheap way of sightseeing (16 euros for a week) most sights are a few minutes walk away from each stop if not outside, just be on guard for pick pockets!

The hotel was located in an area which seemed rough, the hotel room was clean (ish), we asked for a double but got two singles pushed together instead which was not ideal.

The bathroom was adequate though the hairdryer was quite poor and the toilet looked like it needed replacing.

The majority gripe about this hotel is that it was rather noisy, not just inside but outside.
Although the room was fitted with a shutter for the window to block out noise, the sounds of traffic and a frabricators over the road grinding metal could be heard in the mornings depsite the room not facing the road.

As well as this noises from inside the hotel kept us wake some nights and mornings!. The wall were so thin could hear other guests chatting the toilets being flushed! The staff also seemed to be moving furniture in the mornings aswell on the floor above which woke us up a few times.

On check out we asked if they could order a taxi , the woman behind the desk quoted 40 euros which was quite steep as hotel was close to the airport and we only paid 30 to get there when we arrived. In the end we took the metro to termini the main train station and then a bus service to CIA which was easy and half the price!

Nice hotel away from downtown Rome

City Guest house is a cute little hotel. It is about a 3 minute walk to the Metro. This was great to get around-no need to rent a car! Buy a Metro pass for the week, it's about 16 euros, and you can use it as many times as you'd like. One line will take you everywhere you need to go- Colosseum, The Vatican etc. The rooms are small, but we spent little time in them. They only change the towels every two days, and do minimal cleaning, so just be aware of that as far as house keeping. Cappuccino/espresso machines on each floor-fantastic! Go down the street to the bar for coffee and crescents for breakfast (total for 2 ppl was 3.40 euros for two) The front desk staff was very helpful and spoke English well. Overall good choice for the money, we had an amazing time in Rome, and also took the Eurostar high speed train from the Termini station to Florence, as well as Naples.

friendly and conveniently located hotel

Just returned from a fantastic 5 night break in Rome.The hotel \"city guest house\" was in an ideal location quiet but easy access to termini.The staff were really helpfull and gave us some good advice on restaurants and travel.The breakfast in the hotel was ideal everything we needed and expected,i know some people commented on the range but far exceeded some hotels we have stayed in.If you are looking for a four star hotel with all the facilities this is not for you but if you need a good clean base to stay at a ggod price this is ideal.If or when i return to Rome i would have no hesitation in using this hotel again.

Basic,

The hotel is based on 5 floors, the top having the breakfast bar. If you stay on the 4th floor be prepared for an early wake up call from the breakfasts above. The Air con did not work, outsode area is run down and noisy. Locastion is fine, about 3 mins walk to the metro station, Numidio Quadrato, and then 10 mins to Termini, Republicca, and Trevi. Hotel is basic, and service is limited.

Not bad for the price

Hotel is extremely close to the metro station, Numidio Quadrato. It is in a neat residential area with local shops and two close grocery stores which will save you tons of money on snacks. Hotel itself is nice, pay attention or you might miss it. It is not near attractions, it is a little on the outskirts which we found charming.

Try to get a room that is not on the main street or you will listen to cars all night. Each room does have a metal pull down shutter on the windows externally that we did not find until the end of our trip that also helps decrease the street noise. Hotel staff was extremely friendly! There is a gentleman there from Canada who helped us plan a trip to Pompei giving us the exact train information that we needed. Without him it would have been far more difficult he also gave us tips on local restaurants.

There is a restaurant next door that has great food but you need a reservation and they are not patient with people who do not speak Italian.

Be sure to bring a dictionary if you are not fluent and enjoy!!!!

Good staff

It was conveniently located next to a metro stop and only took about fifteen minutes on the metro to get to the sights. The staff was very friendly and they all spoke English. The surrounding neighborhood is run down and a little dirty and there was nothing to do but the metro was so convenient we did't care. My only complaints would be that the shower was incredibly small and the elevator took so long we ended up walking 99% of the time. But if you don't mind that I would definitely recommend it.

The City Guest house was a friendly place to stay. The breakfasts are good value even if it is not already included in your booking. The staff were helpful, for example, when I requested an iron, one was brought to the room in 10 minutes. The room was clean, the water hot and the bed comfortable. The metro station is nearby.

Very convenient for the Centre of Rome and would fully recommend

The Guest House is basic so don't book if you want 5 star but everything else about my stay was 5 star. Only 9 stops and 15 minutes away from the Main Station namely Termini.The Metro stop you need to get off is called Numidio Quadrato. All you need to do is look out for the Tuscolana Shopping Center once you get off the Metro and when you cross over keep to the right pass some shops and then follow the road keeping to the left this time. Once at the end you will see the Guest House straight ahead over a sometimes busy main road. The Guest House is nothing flashy but it does not pretend to be either and more importantly the reception staff were probably the nicest I've ever met. They were very welcoming and did speak good English. Breakfast was 5 Euros but you could get it for 3 if you intended to have it every day and is the usual continental type, well worth the money. The restaurant next door did great food but we only went the one time.It was expensive but worth it, they did not do pasta but the pizza and the fillet steak were to die for. As for Rome, well it's truly am amazing City mixing New with the Old and I 'd suggest you stay for 4 days or more to get the most out of your trip. The Cityu Guest House gets a thumbs up for price, friendliness of reception staff and proximity to the Centre of Rome.

priced right - very nice place to stay

Hotel was purrrrfect just what we needed. I think they are updating the hotel floor by floor. We were offered an upgrage on arrival but didnt take it cos our room was absolutly fine, the upgrade option was worth it if you wanted to have breakfast in the hotel. Only downside to our room is the bathroom could do with updating but they are doing that! If you are out for the day you are out - not really worth coming back changing and going back out again unless you stay near the hotel and eat! see below for more details! The travel books are a great idea, they are next ot reception and are free to borrow. There is also free internet if you need it!

The city guest house was ok but in all honesty didn't really live up to expectations (taking account of previous reviews). On the plus side it was very very handy for the metro into the city and to Ciampino airport. The breakfast was quite good value and served in a pleasant roof top/terrace area. The surrounding area is nothing special and local restaurants didn't appear to be any cheaper than city centre ones. The room was a bit 'worn' but very clean and well looked after by the housekeeping staff. The main problem was the noise - walls must be paper thin although I don't think castle walls would have helped with some of the noisy residents. From 6am to 7am and around midnight was pretty trying to say the least. For the price it was ok but if I was going back to Rome I would try an alternative.

Sehr viel Baustelle um das ganze Hotel herum.
Sehr positiv der kurze Weg zur Metro mit der man in wenigen Minuten im Zentrum ist. Da man aber eigentlich nach dem Tag so kaputt ist und man nur zum schlafen ins Hotelzimmer geht ist es für den Preis absolut ausreichend. Man kann auf der Terrasse Kaffee Tee und Säfte trinken. Das Personal hat jede Frage beantwortet und das bestellte Taxi zum Flughafen war auch pünktlich da. Da wir mit Frühstück gebucht hatten aber in der Zeit das Hotel keins mehr anbietet haben wir trotzdem nur über die Straße in einem Café unser Frühstück bekommen.

Nette kamer met schone en nette badkamer. Klein balkonnetje met uitzicht op het tegenovergelegen flatgebouw. De lift werkt prima maar stamt uit het jaar 0, hij sluit nog volledig waardoor wij er na 1x geen gebruik meer van gemaakt hebben.
We vonden het jammer dat we geen gebruik konden maken van een ontbijtservice.

Da fuori non si nota neanche, completamente anonimo su uno stradone. Dentro però ha una piccola reception e un paio di piani con camere e sala colazione. Tutto sommato silenzioso, camere discrete con ampi bagni, pulito e con colazione accettabile. Accoglienza premurosa. Parcheggi lungo le strade adiacenti. A cinque minuti a piedi dalla fermata della metro. Si può fare.

Purtroppo non è stata una bella esperienza in questo albergo,nella stanza c'era un forte odore di scarico che veniva dal bagno,il letto e I cuscini scomodi e il wi-fi non funzionava,la colazione non era male anche se chiesi tramite mail, per l'intolleranza ,il latte di soia e mi risposero che nn era possibile, molto delusa.Il prezzo era abbastanzoa alto per il tipo i hotel.Posizione buona

Esta bien si solo vas a ir a dormir, pero las habitaciones no están muy limpias y el barrio no es muy agradable.
El desayuno es muy completo.
