We loved this hotel. Off the beaten path in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms are lovely with high ceilings and big windows with lots of light. The window shades can be lowered to darken the room nicely. Our bathroom was large with a big tub. It was a little high to get in and would not be accessible, but it was great for a tub soak. And a nice shower.

There are many places to sit outside on a lovely afternoon or evening. The fountains they run at night are nicely lit. Perfect for a glass of wine. They have a nice little bar. You can serve yourself and take things to drink out into the garden spaces. They also have a Nespresso coffee maker set up for on demand coffee you can drink anytime.

The breakfast was great. Lots of choices in breads, cakes, fruit, quiche, yogurt, cereal, juice, meats and cheeses. Breakfast service was great with cappuccino and tea served on request. The breakfast room is cute and intimate.

The staff was very helpful. They spoke English. They helped us find a wonderful restaurant nearby, Molto, we recommend highly. This restaurant was on a strip with several others, and some retail. About a 12 minute walk from the hotel. Very much a local neighborhood.

All in all, it was a lovely stay, and wonderful to return from the busyness of Rome to relax in this quiet place. The only downside is that we had to take a taxi in and out of the city every day, for about $30 a trip. But it was totally worth it.

The hotel is a little out of city central, but that is what we liked. There was always plenty of public transport and when we were done for the day we could come back to a nice quiet neighborhood. The Borghese Gardens were beautiful, just make sure to bring your walking shoes.

Owned by a local family, Villa Duse is an elegant 19th century house with traditional features, antiques, and polished marble floors. Situated in Parioli, an affluent suburb only 15 minutes taxi from Termini (20mins by bus), this sophisticated property is an ideal base when visiting Rome.
The outdoor area of the villa is very secure, quiet, and private with comfortable seating - the perfect place to relax with a ‘Spritz’ or a cold beer following a busy day sightseeing. Although the property does not offer dinner, there are local restaurants within walking distance.
Our sleep quality was excellent with zero noise. The bedrooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean, our room opened onto a beautiful private terrace.
Breakfast is continental in style and plentiful. Hot cooked alternatives are also available. Eleonora and her mum are wonderful hosts who go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome. I recently returned to Villa Duse, it is consistently good. The perfect boutique option for a memorable stay in Rome.

The property's gated access, there are only a small number of guests and it has smart outdoor areas to enjoy.
Family owned and they are so helpful with text support of local restaurants and guides for the area,
The breakfast is continental and very fresh, nothing is too much trouble, We were told it was ok to order take out eats for a meal in late one night.
Just a lovely place to be based while in bustle of Rome, a beautiful walk through Borghese Park to main Rome sights 35 mins/ or catch local buses at lane end. Great stay, we loved it. They want you to have a great stay Oct 2023

and underrated hotel in upper class quaint and quiet neighborhood walking distance to downtown. Room opened up to romantic little courtyard and bed was comfy. Staff was helpful and very friendly. And the free breakfast was huge with an amazing variety of croissants, eggs, pastries, cereals and fruits with incredible tasting coffee. We will definitely be staying again here when back in Rome ‘

We liked the fact that it is located in a residential neighborhood, not a big street where large groups of tourists \"invade\", we walked to local neighborhood restaurants and deli, the hotel gave us a good list of great restaurants not too far, and one of them even comes to pick up the hotel guests to dine at their very good restaurant and brings the guests back to the hotel, transportation free of charge. We liked also the different patios and terraces around the building, nice spots to relax. It is a boutique hotel that only serves breakfast, included in the price of the room. The staff is extremely nice and ready to help. Nice antique furniture and marble bathrooms.

This property is so beautiful but its the staff that made it so much better.They are extremely helpful in anyway they can. They truly want you to have the best experience ever. The area felt very safe and it was nice to sit on the patio and have a drink so pretty at night with the lights.
Beds were very comfortable only issue was the shower leaked on the floor and the chairs on the private garden were very worn and uncomfortable.

Beautiful, charming and amazing hotel. It is practically a mansion with 16 rooms surrounded by gardens that you can seat and have coffee and wine. The rooms are unique – each one is different with artistic touches. The breakfast place is in the garden with windows all around so you can see the garden while you are having breakfast. The breakfast is fresh every day and it includes Cappuccino, fresh fruits and all kind of healthy food. The place looks and feels better than the pictures on the web site (which is unreal). The hotel is managed by the owners who take care of each guest, serve the breakfast and work the front desk. The owners make you feel special. You wouldn’t know that this great place is in a big city like Rome – it feels more like an Italian village in Toscana. I stayed in a lot of hotels – this one is one of the best I stayed in. I never reviewed anything but my passion to this hotel is so strong that I decided to do it after all. I will be back for sure – I already miss it.

Very stylish hotel. The service is top notch from the family that owns it. They were so helpful to a couple who had never traveled to Europe before this vacation. This property is north of the city and small. If you want a taste of the quiet burbs you can take a bus, walk a good bit or take their equivalent of an Uber into town. With the lesser cost of the hotel, it works. Also, understand that in the burbs, there are not a lot of English speakers, other than at the hotel. If you walk, do so through the massive Villa Borghese park. It will take you to the Spanish steps and Trevi fountain.

I Choose this location because it's near my parents, it is located in a gorgeous villa and it is in a beautiful area of Rome: le Muse. It's quiet and very nice. It's easy to get to the center from the Hotel both by public transportation or by taxi (15-20minutes). The family, which runs it, is very friendly.

The property is located away from city center, so you don't get the hoards of people when you walk outside. It was a nice respite after a whole day of site seeing among the crowded tourist attractions.
The location is very safe and we felt at ease walking around the neighborhood even late at night. The street lighting is poor, so bring a flash light or smart phone light.
The bus does run near the hotel, but it is unreliable time wise. The best be is to walk 15 minutes to the Piazza Ungheria to catch the tram.

Beautiful villa style hotel. Just enough out of downtown to be quiet and safe. There is a morning breakfast that is more than continental. The rooms have nice memory foam mattresses. There is a stocked mini bar and safe. All rooms are air-conditioned. The staff helped tremendously when I left my tablet behind. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

In my opinion, this is the ideal property to use as a base for exploring Rome. It's a quick bus ride from the center of the city and it's a pleasant relief to end the day away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner and staff are extremely accommodating, pleasant, and helpful and the property is absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed by us. I'd definitely stay here again.

Great hotel. Staff was very helpful in getting us taxis. Fernando was very attentive, and a young svelte lady was also very kind and professional to us. The area is very quiet, so if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is your place. Free Breakfast!!! Every morning I was there, there was a buffet of breakfast items from toast to cereal to croissants to eggs/sausage, you name it.
You can buy water and snacks at the corner market. Inexpensive. Also, just down the road to the major intersection are two great restaurants to grab lunch: Rossini's and Mattarello. Get a Margheritta (that's a pizza with a really thin crust!) at Rossini's. Best pasta at Mattarello. About a 10-minute walk, you will see two police stationed just in front of military building.
Kind of far from city. You will have to take a taxi into the city for each day you want to visit the center of Rome inside the city walls. It will cost you roughly 15 euros. Around 30 euros round trip. When waiting for a taxi, it is better to wait at the corner because the hotel is on a one-way street and the taxi has to come around the entire block. This is not a major issue, though. Easily resolved.
Room #12 had air conditioner issues. It was fixed by the third day.
Your room key turns on all the lights. So if you leave the room with the key, you will have no power. The only thing running is the mini fridge.
Ask for a second soap.

The hotel is nice but it is far from town and that is the only drawback. It took us about a 45 minutes to get into town. In my opinion you can find other hotels that are in town at that price. The hotel had a private party the night I stayed there and there were very loud patrons that were rushing to the bathroom which was next to my room. They were slamming doors and very loud. I asked the hotel staff to send people elsewhere and they did. That was responsive so overall I was happy.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was lovely and the staff were incredibly helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
It was nice being out of the hussle and bussle but it was easy to get into the city as it is well connected with the local tram and bus routes. The bus stop is literally a 2 minute walk away.
I would stay again and I would definitely recommend.

I was afraid that I may had made a mistake when I booked this hotel since it was away from center of all the tourist attractions. Yes, we had to pay for transportation, but that extra expense was offset by the more reasonable price of this hotel. We really enjoyed being away from the crowds, the quiet neighborhood, and the opportunity to interact with the locals. We felt like we got to know the Rome better by being able to interact with the people who live there. The hotel is in a neighborhood that is really nice to walk around. The hotels outdoor area was very nice to just sit and relax in.The hotel staff was excellent and very helpful. Eleanora was especially helpful. She gave us a lot of good information and was there to answer all our questions. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Nice Hotel Away from the Crowds

Hotel Villa Duce is a small, friendly Boutique Hotel outside of the crowded centre of Rome.
The staff are extremely helpful and will take time to explain the best way to get to places and mark routes on maps, pre-book tickets, suggest restaurants, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are really good, breads, cakes, cereals, eggs, cheese, meats, yogurts, fruit, etc, lots of choice and when I mentioned I was celiac, they made sure they had gluten free toast/rolls available.
Our room was traditional 'Boutique\" Italian, comfortable bed, good quality bed linen and towels. Bathroom was good, excellent shower over bath. The only, critisism would be that there is not an extractor, so you had to open door to allow mirror to clear, etc. We were on the second floor and it was very quiet.
The location does mean you have to get a bus or tram into the centre, but for us, it was wonderful to escape the crowed streets and noise of the City Centre after a full days sight seeing. The bus into the Centre is only a few minutes walk away and we never had to wait for too long. When we visited the Vatican, we took the tram, about 10 minutes stroll, travelled to the Terminus, then straight onto the Metro, only 2/3 stops and you are there. We purchased a 72 hour travel card which can be used on all public transport and great value.
There are lots of local restaurants within easy walking distance and we never had a bad meal.

Lovely hotel with friendly day staff but our room had a badly fitted window and it was noisy with the nearby road. Also shower area far too small for one person, couldn't wash hair without knocking one of the walls, very annoying. Bed lovely and comfortable but no information in room. Bottle of wine in room but nothing to say if it was complimentary or chargable. Also door into hotel very noisy so if you were in your room you could hear it slamming shut every time someone came in. This was a shame because this was the first hotel we had stayed in where the room doors we actually silent when they closed. Also no apparent extractor fan in the bathroom or so we were told when we asked why it was not working. TV had to be taken off wall by night staff to get working but breakfast was very nice. All the lady staff were extremely friendly and helpful even lending us an umbrella so all in all a very nice experience. One point though this place is miles away from any off the sites of interest so be prepared to walk or use lots of public transport. It is though very close to a lovely park where you can hire bike buggies to go round.

Fantastic Hotel

This lovely hotel is situated out of the centre of Rome so it's nice and quiet, but it's so easy to get to anywhere you need to go. A 7 day pass can be purched for €24(other passes for less time were available) and the 360 bus route starts just a couple of minutes walk from this hotel. The bus takes you to the main termini which has buses, trains, trams and the metro going from here in all directions.
The Villa Duse staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is beautiful and fresh each day, and again the staff were attentive and helpful. The hotel is kept very clean in all areas and the staff were smartly dressed. There is a nice seating area outside where you can relax with a drink after a day of touring Rome.
In all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Rome and the Hotel Villa Duse greatly contributed to the experience. We know where we will be booking to stay when we next visit Rome.

Smaller property with a lovely room and great breakfast. We chose the terrace room on the first floor overlooking a terrace. Enjoyed their recommendation for two local restaurants. One nearby and another one that sent a car for us.

Lovely friendly hotel

Beautiful hotel maintained to a vry high standard. The hotel was very quiet in an upmarket part of town. Close enough to the sights but away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Staff were attentive and helpful.

The hotel was quiet and in a residential neighborhood. It was out of the fray and peaceful. We took a long, downhill walk to the park and later to downtown Rome and then taxi'ed back. A really nice day all around.

Beautiful and quiet hotel

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Receptionist gave us some great tips on where to go and how to get there. Room was vet comfortable and very clean. Slept amazingly on a huge bed. Black out shutters were superb as well. Hotel is in a residential location with a short walk to tram and bus stops and is a 10-15 Euro cab drive to get to from the city. My wife and I loved our stay and can't fault this hotel at all

Beautiful small hotel on a quite chic area of Rome

Everything was very satisfactory: the location, the room with a very comfortable bed, mattress and pillows, air conditioning, great shower, delicious breakfast in a lovely ambiance and fantastic staff. You need to buy the one, two or seven day unlimited bus and metro pass at the giornal kiosk next to Piazza Muse. Bus 360 with a stop in front of the hotel or Piazza Muse takes you to Termini Train Station and the Metro saving you a lot of money on taxis. Trams 19 and 3 - a seven-minute walk from the hotel-- take you to a lot of important sites. If you are a good walker you can cross the park of Villa Borghesse in approx. 25 minutes and find yourself at the Pincho above the Spanish steps. If you prefer taxi the reception staff woll call it for you and the cost will be between 10 and 20 Euros depending on your destination and time of the day. There are two pizza places -one behind the hotel with delivery service if you wish and one towards piazza Ungheria -with good pizza al taglio and other Italian simple but tasty food. Perfect places if you are tired or do not feel to spend lots of money. There are many good restaurants on Parioli street ranging from reasonable to high prices if you choose to stay in the neighborhood. The ice cream/gelato at the bar behind the hotel is excellent. Kudos to the staff of the hotel, particularly Eleonora and Giulia, who are very nice and helpful. Great stay!

Lovely hotel in a quiet Rome suburb

Unlikely you'll get somewhere this nice in the very centre for the price. And it was quite nice being slightly out of the centre. Easy enough getting the bus / taxis in and out. And only a 45 min walk to the centre through the pleasant Borgese gardens (and you can stop off for a 20 min lounge on the boating lake).

Fairly small hotel, but lovely and quiet, v.tastefully decorated with nice grounds - and in a nice neighbourhood.

Plenty of nice, non-touristy restaurants in walking distance - Ambasciata di Abruzzo was fantastic.

Great stay at a nice hotel.

Located at a quiet residential neighborhood. Good restaurants were walking distance. The staff were friendly. The nice gal that checked us in gave us a room with a private garden; that's a plus. Breakfast from 7:30-10:30 am had fresh everything. The only negative was the being charged $8 for a cup of cappuccino when restaurants only charged $2-4. Nevertheless, it was a nice experience for us in this hotel.

Fabulous hotel

We loved this hotel. We found the rooms to be very clean and elegant . The beds were so comfortable and we both slept really well. The staff are wonderful and so helpful. Hotel Duse is in a residential area which makes for a calm and relaxing atmosphere after the hustle and bustle of Rome. We enjoyed the walk after breakfast through the park which took us down to the Spanish steps. Although you can catch the bus if you prefer . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. We will definitely be returning.

A beautiful oasis of quiet

This little jewel in the northern part of the city provides a quiet oasis before heading out to sight see. There is no metro stop, but there are buses.

The rooms is charming, and comfortable.

Breakfast is really lovely and they have especially good coffee.

The staff were helpful and absolutely wonderful.
