Suggest to get the higher priced room. Clean room, water pressure is a bit low, may be to reserve water. You don't have to go around town to taste Burmese daily breakfast. A very good one is included in your stay. No swimming pool or spa at the hotel, but a good standard sauna.

Great professional manager and staff, never disappointed myanmar breakfast during our 3 weeks stay. Dining room is packed with local crowd during weekend for their favorite breakfast. This is the only hotel with sauna. Although this is not a 4/5 Star hotel, you won't disappoint with the value and quietness.

The hotel has a great location and is easily accessible to downtown, which makes getting around very convenient. The pricing is excellent and very affordable, offering strong value for money.

The breakfast buffet is a highlight, with a wide variety of options and very good taste. The staff are friendly, courteous, and always willing to help, which adds a warm and welcoming touch to the stay.

The bedding is comfortable, and the room is clean by Myanmar standards. There is some room for improvement if compared to international standards, but overall the experience is very positive when considering the price point.

Overall, for the location, service, and value offered, this hotel deserves a full 5-star rating.

This is the second time I'm staying at this hotel since 2014. We chose this hotel because they have family rooms that can accommodate our large group. Their rooms were spacious, breakfast and fitness center were also great. My only complaint is there was a moldy smell in one of the rooms. I also felt that they could've arranged non-smoking rooms on higher floors. We stayed on the 6th floor, but the hallway was still full of cigarette smell from the lower floors. Other than the smell the rooms were pretty clean.

The hotel is close enough to walk to the market.. about 20 minutes.. not too noisy which is great. I am staying in a top class hotel now and to be honest this hotel is no where near as noisy . Has a supermarket/ chemist next door

The staff were extremely warm and helpful, and the room was pretty clean. Free bottles of water were restocked each day, which was helpful given how tap water in Myanmar isn't fit for drinking. The breakfast spread was quite diverse, too. The only gripe I have is that the wifi in my room only seemed to work in the bathroom.

Good enough for a few days in Yangon

Requested a double bed, but received a room with two twins, but the fact that they got me any room during my extremely early 6:30am check in, made up for it.

Not far from the temple and a nice shopping mall is 15 minutes away on foot.

Nice gym with cardio and some weights. Superb breakfast! Dinner in the restaurant was good too.

Really, who wants to stay in a hotel just directly opposit a hospital. Matter of fact the hotel was used to be hospital as well and it was converted. Worse bathroom lay-out. The shiwer head was just behind the bathriom door and i meant just behind. Strange. The whole bathroom got wet when you showered. You can smell the toilet right at your bed because there is a window from the bed open to the toilet. Really strange. Location is near nowhere. SERVICE IS EXCELLENT

Excellent stay & service in Yangon

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Grand United and were extremely pleased with the hotel staff! We booked a standard double bedroom for one night at a very reasonable price for the off-season (early October). We arrived at the hotel at 7am after taking an overnight bus from Kalaw to Yangon and the hotel staff unexpectedly checked us in early, upgraded our room, and provided us with a complimentary breakfast. After we checked out the next morning, we stored our luggage at the hotel all day and were able to shower in the gym before heading to the airport. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, had a nice view of the city, and was well stocked with bottled water. The restaurant offered a wide selection of food for breakfast. Because hotel is a bit outside of the city center, it provided free daily shuttle service to a few of the major tourist spots. We used this service once, but actually found the hotel to be a nice walking distance from many activities/sites, including the Shwedagon Pagoda. We highly recommend this hotel and will suggest to any friends visiting in the future.

Every time our room was cleaned we were given plenty of complementary water bottles and other products. My only complaint is that the corridor smells of mould . The room also smelt of mould when we first got there. They need to freshen up the carpets and air the rooms more.

In the midst of a third world country trying to open its borders and develop itself into the modern era, there are not many places that stand out in quality just yet. The Grand United Hotel chain is one of those things. It is very modern and very comfortable. It is relatively new having been built in 2013. It has multilingual staff, wifi, exercise room with equipment and sauna, a very good dinning service, and a large free breakfast. The prices for food are a lot more expensive than most places but the quality and portions are rather large. I stayed there for 10 days and I wish I could have stayed longer. The thing that made this a perfect five star rating is their willing to do whatever a customer needs and directly listen to feedback. I was given a survey a few days before my stay actually ended and I mentioned a few improvements to their western food and the next morning at breakfast those improvements I recommended were already in place.

Very pleased with my stay at Hotel Grand United. The room was clean, breakfast was one of the best I had in Myanmar and the staff was generally friendly and happy to accommodate my requests. Wi-fi was reliable and fast in comparison with other hotels.
The only con was the location, which is a bit faraway from most landmarks and sights in Yangon.

1. Aircon in suit room was too small for the room. I need to pull the bed nearer to the aircon to sleep. I think the management need you upgrade to bigger aircon.
2. Room service did not clean the room neatly.
3. Room service charge me us2 for a bucket of ice cubes and US $2 service charge. This is my first time in my travel experience I have paid for ICE cubes.
4. I personally felt that the staff were not friendly.
I travel 6 to 8 times a year. Any way thanks for the stay.

Best hotel gym ever

This hotel was a mid-range and generally comfortable hotel a little away from the main drag. We booked a windowless room, which is great for sleeping in when you're light sensitive, and it did the job. Maybe a bit more light would have been nice as some of the lightbulbs were not working but overall not a big deal. A little scent of chemicals lingered in the room but perhaps it was from work on adjacent rooms. Food was tasty and the hotel fitness center was awesome!

Walking to downtown Yangon is a breeze. Train Station and public busses are easily available and taxis are cheap and easy to get.
Hotel staff is patient, friendly, helpful and very honest! Restaurant and Cafe have good food at reasonable prices and even send up to the room. A good hotel in the right spot. We will be back for sure!

This is my first time in Yangon with my partner. I'm glad to have booked this hotel as it has a good location. It is near Taw Win Centre and good few mins away from downtown! Opted for a room with balcony and a view of the city with shwedagon pagoda! Had a lovely stay for a week! We will definitely come back to this hotel soon for visiting.

Nice hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room and bathroom. Quiet neighbourhood a short drive from town centre. Always a taxi outside and doorman hails the taxi and confirms the price if you wish. It's a cheap trip into town. Hotels in Yangon are expensive for what you get and this hotel isn't any different but it is a decent and well managed hotel with gym and nice buffet breakfast. Get a couple of hotel cards at reception with hotel address and handy little map to show any taxi driver who may be unsure where it is. We enjoyed our stay and will go back there next time in Yangon.

Arrived at 6am and hoped for an early check in. The receptionist said that they are fully booked and they cannot accommodate the request. Instead, they let us use their gym to freshen up (because we came from a 9-hour bus ride from Mandalay. In addition, they also gave us complimentary breakfast even though we have not checked in yet! On top of that, they upgraded our room to Juinor Suite! Sweet!

My stay here was acceptable. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was exceptional either (except for the meal that I had in the cafe. It was really good.) It's walkable to the Shwedagon Pagoda, and it's in a fairly quiet area of Yangon near some consulates. The staff were friendly but didn't make too much effort. My room was fine - it was small with a small window, but roaming dogs made a racket at night, which I suppose is all part of the experience of staying in Yangon.

The hotel is located at the edge of the town. The conditions of the road make it very hard to walk around the hotel which is also apply to any hotel in Yangon. The hotel itself is ok and good for stay overnight in Yangon. I probably will skip Yangon next time if I visit Myanmar again.

This is a wonderful hotel with great staff. Although the rooms are a little old, they are big, clean and comfortable. There is plenty of hot water, and the gym and breakfast buffet were great-that is, unless you are looking for a purely western breakfast. There isn't much in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but you are a very short cab ride from the Shwedagon Pagoda and Yangon Museum (both are also within walking distance). Finally, the best part of the hotel is the staff. They are friendly, professional and genuinely helpful.

The hotel room is a bit small, specially the bathroom, but acceptable. The wifi is sometime very slow or no connection. The breadfast is quite good, staff is very helpful. The hotel is a bit far from other sites, but with taxis (quite cheap, around 2-4K Kyat) we can reach everywhere so location is not an issue, however during the night it is really quiet to sleep.

Smart hotel, fantastic view

We normally stay at the Chinatown branch, which is pretty small, more informal and friendly / cozy - and right in the heart of the down-town bustle (for better or worse). By comparison, this is a much bigger, more spacious and 'formal' hotel, with less soul (and less to do within walking distance) but with the most amazing view of the Shwedigon Pagoda.

Our room was big, clean and comfortable, and that view alone made the view a good one. Lovely bed, and quiet room. Staff were a bit less friendly overall - I think the hotel's size makes the hotel more anonymous - but a good stay.

In a booked deluxe room, we had a strangely placed double bed which really should have split the bed rather than have them together; room 707 which did not oversee the city view which we requested. In fact it overlooked construction next door. Prior to booking in, I already had requested a higher floor room. This was not granted; when I enquired, they did not give a reason why it was not; didn't appear like full occupancy at the time. The hotel is also a distance away from most shops, so walking is not an option and we took a taxi to town; most costs around 2000-2500 with one costing us 3000. Cheap enough; there's a train station nearby which we did not use.

I suggest you ask the staff to write down the address of hotel in the local language as taxi drivers often struggle to understand where the hotel is.

The breakfast is fine. The staff need extensive training; they loiter a great deal which could also indicate reluctance to use their limited English.

In all, the best feature of our room was the bathroom/toilet which was large by Myanmar standards. However, the toilet is placed too closely to the wall; you have to have skinny legs!

There's a nicely equipped gym and a recreational room if you just need to hangout. The equipment in the gym is relatively new.

Myanmar Golden Land of PEOPLE

Great stay at the Hotel. This is Yangon so get used to it... Myanmar has a way to go with infrastructure and amenities. The people here are GOLD and deserve the utmost respect. The staff was very attentive and the Hotel has great value for the money. The buffet breakfast was the best we had in Myanmar. There is much to do within walking distance including the circular train around the city. Gym is well appointed, many other local place to eat nearby. BE adventurous and eat at a roadside stand... The food in Myanmar is better than Thailand, hahahaha...
