This is a very nice hotel which is located about two blocks from the Colosseum. Our room was beautiful. It was well appointed and spacious for European standards.The area has nice restaurants. And the breakfast at the hotel was great. If you’re looking for a place to stay down in this area, you can’t go wrong with this hotel. One word of advice if you would like an airport shuttle, be sure to contact them well in advance. However, the express train into Roma termini provides a pretty easy access to the hotel either by walking if you don’t have too much luggage or taxi if you do.

The hotel had amazing finishing, art and historic preservation. I believe I saw that the building is on the historic register.
The rooftop terraces are amazing. Great views, beautifully maintained - with garden and other decoration. A really peaceful spot up there. The owner
/operator was friendly and helpful. We plan to go back next time we visit Rome.

Fabulous hotel, very funky decor and very comfortable. Staff were great and very helpful. Breakfast was a treat every morning. Walkable to all the sights and restaurants.

Because we were in the heart of everything and go to bed early you can hear the people on the street in the wee hours of the morning. We were in amazing room, which was situation at the back of the Hotel that backed onto the street behind the hotel.

Small hotel unique hotel and clean, room was small but with a nice old style to it, bathroom could have been bigger, there was a stocked mini bar, 2 good restraunts right by the hotel and more around the block, colosseum a couple blocks away, street aree could be cleaner, still a nice little place to stay.

This is a family owned and run hotel. They provided us with not only excellent facilities but the service was way above and beyond. We mistakenly left items in our rooms safe and the owner Richard went out of his way to get them back to us after we left. Highly recommend their hotel and will definable stay there again if we make it back to Rome.

There were cockroaches on the bathroom. My wife had an early commitment and the entrance was locked, she tried looking for someone but there was no one visible. Finally one guy was sleeping in one room with the door open and she woke him up by knocking the door. He finally woke up and got the door open. She ended up loosing her Florence train.

This is a great location within blocks of the Colosseum. There was a plethora of dining options and availability for drinks. The only downside is we were on the terrace garden, which is essentially on the rooftop and it was four flights of stairs Every time you had to come in and come out. Also, the tub/shower we had was very high up in order to get into it, which was not convenient. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. FYI don’t lose the key!

Following recent trip to Rome, this hotel is in an excellent location near the Colosseum and 20min walk from Rome's main terminal train station. Big Bus tour is also 5min walk to stop and that gets you all around Rome City (Hop On/Off)

Hotel is is in lovely condition, mosaic floors and wall art everywhere (really cool). Room was excellent with AirCon and great powerful shower.

When I go back to Rome, I will most certainly say here again. Loved it.

I would never consider this place family friendly. We are a family of 4 and the room we had reserved made it seem as though it was. A queen bed with two cots on either side had been set up and absolutely no where to even more around. The bathroom was like a bathroom in a camper.

Also was not crazy about the location/neighborhood. No parking. And my 5 year old got yelled at when he stood up on the couch in the waiting area while we were waiting for my husband to bring the car to load re-load all of our luggage.

Celio displays a plaque proclaiming it one of the \"Small Charming Hotels of Italy.\" While the decor in the public areas is charming (if dark), the operative word is SMALL, and it is more like a B&B. The halls & breakfast room are beautifully decorated w/mosaic floors & fabulous chandeliers. But the rooms are miniscule, dark, & shabby. Our \"double room\" might be fine w/one bed, but w/2 twin beds crammed in, there wasn't room to open our suitcases on the floor. I had to open mine on the bed and close it when I went to sleep. Our travel companions' quad rm should have been a double. Our sheets had holes in them, & the beds were hard. The rooms were chilly. The carpet was faded & needed cleaning. The bathrm and shower were clean but miniscule. The small space and dim lighting produced an oppressive, claustrophobic feeling. The rave reviews were misleading; many say how nice the owners are, when in fact, they had sour faces & looked put-out when we needed anything. The prices were like a fine hotel, but the experience was like a B&B, which should be priced lower. They served a continental breakfast, which was fine but not in the same league as the abundant buffets at our other hotels. Once my son got no croissant bcs \"someone else had two\" earlier. The hotel is not accessible, w/stairs to the front door, no elevator, & no space for a wheelchair (or overweight person) to maneuver. We planned to stay 3 nights but left after 2, bcs we couldn't bear the dim, cramped space any more.

Hotel Celio was just a fabulous place for my wife and myself and also for our daughter and grandchildren. Breakfast was just what was needed to start the day walking around Rome. Close to almost every important tourist sight we enjoyed the walks into the the historic city.
The staff was always ready to help in any way necessary. Our rooms were well furnished and comfortable.

Hotel Celio is a fabulous property within a few hundred yards of the Colosseum. There are several restaurants steps away as well as a taxi stand and money exchange and ticket office. The staff were all very welcoming and they carried our luggage up and down the stairs to/from our room as there is no elevator. We also enjoyed the roof top terrace with a glass of wine. We loved the authentic Romanesque decor and stunning tile mosaics throughout the hallways. I also must mention their included breakfast as it was truly amazing for a continental! They serve you a warm boiled egg, yoghurt, fresh croissants and other rolls as well as cheese and preserves, fresh fruit, juice and of course cappuccino!!! Everything you need to fill your tank for the days full lineup of activity!
Grazie Hotel Celio for an amazing stay! We will definitely return when next in Rome!

the Colosseum. Loved everything about this hotel and
service. Took plenty of cards to share with friends for
perfect place to park your luggage when visiting Rome.
Excellent mini-super market steps from hotel. Went back
four times for dinner on corner, steps from hotel. Informal,
great food and service. Very affordable. All in all, I had three days in a city I know quite well from previous visits,
but never like this time: heatwave with daily 101F!!

The hotel was beautiful and comfortable with an amazing breakfast. The only issue we had was with service the day of our arrival. We arrived at 6:30 AM from an overnight train to deposit our luggage per agreement from the hotel and an email exchange with the hotel; however, they seemed unaware of our arrival and very unhappy we arrived this early. This annoyance seemed to trickle down to our actual check-in later that day. There also seemed to be an irritation toward us and our inability to speak Italian.

The location to the Collisuem and local Cafes, Bars was a big plus. Accessible too to buses and close to Rome’s Termini Train Station. The rooms are clean and have the look of as if I was invited to spend the night at the Papal Residence and that’s a compliment. The breakfast they offered was very good, I’d surely recommend to family & friends and will be back for sure. Very friendly staff.

Hotel Celio is beautiful, well maintained and steps away from the Colosseum, Forum and plenty of restaurants. The staff is great. The mosaic tile floors and the rooftop view of the Colosseum were amazing! We highly recommend staying at the Hotel Celio in Rome.

Lovely and great location, but hotel curfew!

I would recommend this hotel if you want to be walking distance from the Colloseum. Also, you get great privacy because you get your own suite (with a terrace if you request it and if it’s available). It had lovely decor and the staff was super friendly! The only con about this hotel was that you have to leave your key with the front desk each time you leave the hotel (we did this all across Italy) and need to arrange a time to get back to your hotel if it’s going to be late at night (only had to do this at this hotel). We got locked out of our hotel one night. Thankfully a security guard down the street was very helpful and called our hotel to let us back in. Although, it was like 2am, but can you blame us for wanting to be out late while being on vacation...If you don’t want a curfew, it’s probably a good idea not to stay here, but if you don’t mind and want a more authentic Italian experience, then stay here. Nonetheless, we had a good experience. The owner was beyond hospitable and even made us a cappuccino before the complimentary breakfast was available on our first morning there.

True Rome hotel, great stay!

Beautiful hotel, very detailed decor, fabric walls, mosaic floors, ornate trim, and yet modern bathroom. We loved the roof terrace to end the day.

The Coliseum is visible and many eateries very close to the hotel. This place was a great value for what we got.

The location was amazing, just a block from the coliseum and great restaurants and within walking distance to everything you want to see in Rome! The room was so elegant and the whole hotel is so beautifully decorated and clean. There was a small grocery store open 24 hours steps away, and a great gelato place. The included breakfast was nice. The air conditioning was a little weak, the room could have used a fan, but otherwise it was an absolutely perfect place to stay!!

This is a lovely hotel and the owner/operators are so nice and accommodating, Delicious continental breakfast, best croissants I have ever had. They were very helpful arranging car services for us from the airport to their property and then to the Cruise ship port.
Just steps from the Colosseum.

This resort was great! Location was perfect. We were given a room on top floor off the terrace. Lovely terrace, had to walk up 63 steps, but was worth it! Breakfast was good. Very cozy room, beds were okay. Would stay at the Hotel Celio again if we are lucky to visit Rome again.

The front clearly was very rude! We had to leave early in the morning for a flight (430 am) and we were locked in the hotel! The front door was locked and no one was at the desk. The day desk clerk was given the information and set up a car to pick us up. I will not stay here again because of this and can not recommend it.

I have rarely stayed in a hotel as lovely at Hotel Celio. The location is amazing. Walking distance to most of the major attractions. The interior is modern in old world and it flows beautifully. The breakfast is a a treat. You are looked after so well and the hotel is very very clean. The cost is so reasonable for what you get and the location. Family run was a huge point for picking Hotel Celio and it was such a good decision.

We had a wonderful stay at hotel Celio. The location is very convenient. There are restaurants and grocery stores on the same street. The Colosseum is about 5 Min walk. and the Hop on Hop off bus is only 2 minutes further down the hill from the Colosseum. It appeared to be a staff of only two brothers. They were both very friendly and helpful. They gave good directions and recommendations.
If you are looking for a large 4 or 5 star hotel with all the services and amenities. this is not that hotel. This is a small quaint and cozy boutique Hotel. That is very nicely decorated. With a warm and friendly staff that will go out of their way to assist you.
All and we had a great stay and i would recommend this hotel.

The guy that runs the place tried to swindle me into paying an extra $89/night in a bogus tax he made up. In cash! Also, the door is locked after a certain hour so if you want in or out you hope the guy is around. Felt like childhood curfew.

Great location, poor breakfast

Great location, the room was quiet and clean. Some of the staff didn't have an adequate level of English, which can be solved easily, however people were polite.
The real handicap with Celio Hotel is the breakfast: it is the worst I've had in my life in any hotel where I've stayed in 3 continents. No cheese, no cold cuts, only carbs and a single coffee and juice. They don't give you the chance to refill your cup or your glass. after the first day I just gave up an ate breakfast anywhere outside. They solution is not providing \"breakfast\" and charging less for the room.
