Best of all was the concierge at the desk on the night of our arrival; we really appreciated his generous manner in sticking with his native tongue while still being able to graciously and deftly bridge our relative lack of mastery. Nice hotel. Nice executive level room. But higher floors had weak WiFi. Location was somewhat inconvenient. Also, meals were not available all evenings. And dinner was buffet, and one night fully booked so even room guests were turned away. In retrospect, we should’ve stayed on the other side of the river. It’s a 21 euro cab ride to the train station. You could walk it in 15 min. But dragging our luggage over the cobblestone was a non starter.

Wifi doesnt work inside some rooms, very inconvenient and hotel didnt do anything the first day. Only on second day after I complained to Expedia. Room is very hot, slept with window opened but put up with outside noise till midnight, fan provided made loud noise so had to switch it off. Only slept 3 hours first night. Staff at reception rude and defensive, making excuses for the failures. In contrast, the restaurant staff were very helpful and efficient. Carpets and towels provided were threadbare, lucky I had slippers.
The Sorat Group should look into the management and issues at this hotel. Its my first stay with this hotel group and likely my last. I worry whether the issues at this hotel are a group wide issue. Not risking a second horrible experience like this!

Arrived for one night on the tail end of a 2 week Germany trip. Hotel location is great, just outside the old city, on the Danube. Very walkable. Room was just OK. The beds were too hard, you could feel the springs in the mattresses--please replace them--and the old corner tub with a handheld shower was very difficult to use-getting in/getting out was dangerous for my partner. Pillows were very uncomfortable foam pillows. For the price, they should be better. Rooms need to be updated. Breakfast was nice but nothing special. Staff was all very friendly and responsive. Parking at the hotel was convenient yet expensive. Would consider another place for our next visit to Regensburg.

We had a wonderful stay at Sorat Insel-Hotel Regensburg! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the location couldn’t have been better — right by the river with beautiful views and just a short walk to the historic city center. Our room was comfortable, clean, and full of charm. The only challenge was the parking garage, which was a little tight for our larger car. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would definitely stay here again!

Put in a tiny, wrong room, rudest receptionist
The so-called \"comfort double room\" we booked (picture: huge windows overlooking the Danube, big room with bath, bright and nice) turned out to be a dark, tiny loft with a narrow slit of a window where you can only see the sky unless you're standing in the windowsill. Not even the bathtub was real. Took half an hour arguing with an extremely rude receptionist (\"We are fully booked! I can't do anything! Tell me, what should I do?\" <- not our job to tell you how to fix it, we just wanted you to help us) and retreating dejectedly to our room before we were finally informed that we would get \"the correct room\" the next day.
We did get \"the correct room\" the next day, and that was very nice, just as advertised - would have been a positive review if we got it right away.

Stayed here after a disastrous river cruise turned land tour. Our 2 nights were wonderful! The hotel is in a perfect location to explore old Regensburg. We shopped at 4 or 5 nearby Christmas markets, and even bought 2 suitcases to bring things home. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are very comfortable, and the staff that we spoke to were all very friendly and welcoming. Regensburg is such a beautiful town, and the Sorat Insel hotel is the perfect place to stay while there.

Beware of being booking a classic room just because you want a double bed. The room description does not say the room comes without a phone, tea and coffee facilities, bottle of water. Restaurant I am told is never open in the evenings now so you have to go out. Also internet code is changed at 8am so if you have a room without a phone remember to get the new one before you go to bed. I have stayed there many times and never had this issue before so it must be new policies or they have not updated expedia.

I know the hotel used to be a factory, but even with the heat on the room didn’t warm up until well into the night. This is an excellent location. It's a hotel minus A/C, so be ready to spend a hot night in the summer time. Also, pray there a no emergencies because exit doors on the floors are all locked (and stayed that way after we alerted the staff)

This is a very nice hotel, not perfect, but very very nice. The room is clean and very comfortable and well decorated with a great big tub. The view over the river from my room was spectacular—but the window had irremovable screens, which mars the view. Minor issue. An interesting, renovated old factory building across the river from the medieval quarter. I favor repurposed buildings and this pulled it off fairly well (although my room carpet, while clean, was showing its age).
The breakfast was among the best on offer anywhere—and I have been cycling the world for 900 days. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking river and cathedral and Stone Bridge was absolutely wonderful. A really really nice place to stay.

On a small island in the centre of the Danube this could be a wonderful hotel with great views. But the decor and furnishings let it down, there is no glamour. Huge 3 storey atrium overlooking the river but most of the floor space is taken up with a lightly used bar. It needs a good architect to maximise the potential and revenues.
The hotel name should be changed to show the Danube location.

I was told TWICE that this hotel had air conditioning. You list in on your site as having air conditioning. Our room DID NOT have air conditioning and it was absolutely sweltering. After a 12 hour travel day, I was unable to get any sleep in this terribly hot room. It was truly awful.

Great location within easy walking distance to Old City and yet quiet and with beautiful view of city. Rooms were spacious ( Jr. Suite ) and well equipped. Only negative was that we had requested air conditioned rooms and if they were on, they were not working as room was quite warm on arrival. Thankfully, it was a cool evening so with the windows opened it was not too hot for sleeping. Front desk staff were very accommodating and spoke English well.

The hotel lives up to its billing. It is top notch. The staff was particularly helpful. I expressed a desire for a particular meal. The receptionist immediately search on her computer for a restaurant. Unfortunately it did not serve that meal. So the next day she made another search and found one that die serve one of my favorite German meals. There are two things: The city maps are horrible. They don't show some major streets. I tried finding the Scottish Monastery which is shown on the map, After 2 hours of searching, I gave up. One my way search I passed the state historial museum which is not shown/. While I was there, Saturday and Sunday I could not have supper at the hotel. One day the dining room was reserved for a wedding. It is closed on Sunday. The hotel is close to the old city if you don'r mind crossing the Old Stone Bridge. The breakfasts were suburb. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent and convenient location. The view from the room is amazing - river and city landscape. Close walking to the city center. Very clean but bed, pillows, bath toiletries are second grade. Get your pillow from home. The pillows at Sorat both in Nuremberg and Regensburg get at 1cm thick when you have your head on it.

Great location beautiful views of the stone bridge . Friendly staff. Unfortunately one of our rooms didn't have hot water which unfortunately we discovered after a long day of walking in the city. Calle front desk and was told it would get hot eventually which never happened. One of the rooms did have a working hot water so at least some of us had a shower. Recommend the hotel but check the water when you check in.

Beautiful location on the Danube, but be careful of hidden charges. Prepaid stay with Hotels.com, but hotel assessed additional charge on check-out due to child's age. Age was fully disclosed upon booking, on-line receipt notes paid in full (and lists child's age), yet hotel insisted on additional on-site charge regardless. Fee wasn't even disclosed at check-in, only assessed at check-out. Thankfully Hotels.com made the situation right, as the hotel was completely uncooperative regarding the entire situation.

A pleasant short walk from the hotel to the old city, across the stone bridge. Nice views of the old city, especially at night, since the cathedral is lit. Very nice breakfast. Price is quite reasonable for the experience. Wifi was reliable. Location on the Wohrde allowed for spectacular jogging in the morning through the park which lines the Danube.

This hotel is right on the Danube and our rooms opened up to a fabulous view of the old town across the river. The bridge is close by so it is an easy stroll across to explore and parking was quite easy as we found a spot right in front of the hotel!
The restaurant was closed the evening we were there but the breakfast buffet was delicious and served in a room overlooking the river also so the view was lovely.

Quiet hotel in a fantastic location on a mid-stream island in the Danube, five minutes' walk from the old town. The décor is something of a throwback to the 1980s, but the staff are exceptionally friendly and the rooms are both spacious and comfortable. Recommended.

A great hotel in a beautiful location, but pricey. Our room overlooked the river and Regensburg's lovely old buildings. It was well equipped and extremely convenient. I heard a rumour the hotel is due to close within the next year, which would be a pity.
