But should be reported spectacular hotel service was top notch we had an issue with the room that came up at 1:00 in the morning to take care of it every time you can go to hotel you can have problems with rooms they came right away we didn't have to wait till the following day beautiful beautiful grounds the block from the beach the hook the hotel had a spectacular pool it was overall a great experience breakfast every morning was wonderful I would definitely recommend coming and staying here some of the nicest hotels

The area is wonderful. As for being a 5-star hotel. The rating is less than I would expect from a 5-star. The bathrooms were less than adequate. When the three of us arrived, we carried our own bags into the hotel and to our rooms. The pool costs to use, and the towels are an additional cost. The bar and the bar staff were amazing.

Elegant hotel but busy with weddings and parties. Pool was closed for a couple of hours in the afternoon, during the hottest time of the day. Not really convenient for the beach, even with a shuttle. The archeological site of Paestum is wonderful, not to be missed, and great for an evening view and stroll with the lights on. About 1.5 miles from the hotel.

The hotel and grounds are very well kept and the decor is wonderfully done. The pools are clean and were empty when we stayed so enjoyable to relax in. Parking was easy. The breakfast was fabulous and fresh.
On a down side, we booked the restaurant for our evening meal and although the service was tip top the menu was disappointing as it didn't really cater for people who don't like beef or fish but apart from that it was ok

Nice location and easy parking. The beach shuttle is convenient and worth the trip to the hotels private beach area as the family who runs the beach club is so lovely and the man is hilarious. Breakfast was really good with unlimited capo and attentive staff. The only downside is the area was a bit smelly perhaps due to it being a swamp 100’s of years ago. The only thing it was missing was a gym which we would have liked.

This is our 4 stay at the MEC it has been newly remodeled with amazing inside/outside dinning and bar plus new swimming pool, deck and outdoor hottub! Need to upgrade to the suites as you get larger room and great views! Support staff from front desk to dinning/bar and cleaning are amazing!

The hotel was beautifully designed inside and out. The reception staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was very well furnished and maintained, and also very quiet. Our only issue with the hotel would be the limited number of sun beds around the pool when there is space for many more. We only managed to sit around the pool 1 day out of 6, although there were ample alternatives away from the pool. Overall a great hotel.

Beautiful hotel, very clean, friendly staff and great breakfast. Hotel room was spacious despite there being 4 of us in one room. Our only gripe was that there were functions on each day which meant the main pool was closed to guests between certain times. The infinity pool was however always open but it wasn’t practical for swimming in. Still had a great time and it was great to watch the many weddings that took place. Would stay there again as the hotel was stunning.

Funky, upscale hotel near Paestum

Very nice upscale hotel near Paestum. It’s purposely funky and fun. The beginning of April was too chilly to enjoy the pools, but we took fun pictures with the decorations (e.g., giraffe holding a chandelier) around the pools. The room tub was a jacuzzi tub, which we enjoyed. It’s a very short walk to the beach, which was nice to see the sunset. Breakfast was large and delicious with fresh fruit, pastries, omelette bar, and cappuccinos.

Staying in style in Paestum

This is a beautiful hotel for a bargain price in the off-season. The rooms were very comfortable (2 double rooms and 1 for a family of 4 with a spectacular view of the garden/pool/ocean). A breakfast buffet was included and was complete with an omelet station, fruits and pastries. We had a wonderful stay a Mec Paestum Hotel!

This is one of the most beautiful and unique hotels that we have ever stayed in throughout the world. It's like going on our honeymoon all over again. The accommodations were amazing! Everything was so creative and unusual, from the sea-through giant hot tub to the high-heel chairs in the lobby. And it was in the middle of no-where very close to the wonderful ruins of Paestum. A real find at the right price. They are, however, in need of a casual dining room on site for nighttime.

this property is more directed to weddings and other large events so guests are not their number one priority. There was a wedding or two daily and go on till 3:00 AM. There were crickets outside patio doors and were loud ounce the music from the weddings stopped. Main pool not accessible between 1:30 and 3 pm due to the weddings.Beach umbrellas and chairs are not included 16 to 21 euros per day.Property well maintained and staff very nice when you needed something. We would probably not return.

Great holiday for a relaxing holiday

Overall it was a lovely holiday with plenty of relaxing and tanning. I would say this is a good hotel for those looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday as you are in a residential part of Italy so there aren't tonnes of things to do locally. However the Amalfi Coast, Capri and Salerno are all nearby which are good to explore. Locally you have a lovely beach and the temple of Athena, the local restaurants are very nice. The downside for us was the hotel is a busy wedding venue and so 4 out of our 7 night, there was a wedding being held for a few hours at the hotel which restricted our use of the pools and other services at the hotel. This was inconvenient but did not ruin our holiday. I would still recommend the area and the hotel, just be aware that there may be a few disruptions.

Challenged in many ways

The hotel is situated in an economically challenged area. As a result their are few good restaurants, only pizza places. The food in the hotel is dreadful, Don't be tempted to go for half or full board if offered. You need a hire car if you are not going to go hungry!

Two good places we found are: Antiche Mura Grill & Wine, in the town, and Heretic which is about just before you get to Agripoli. Both do great steaks, especially Anticje which is comparable to Gouchos for food quality,

There is no bar service at the main pool, and the pool is closed from 12.00 until 4.00 pm on days when there are weddings at the hotel (most days have a wedding). The Jacuzzi on the upper level has a bar, but service is very slow. I think the hotel struggles to recruit staff due to it's location,

Everything is liveable with so long as you rent a car, but if you are used to and expect Hilton/Marriot 5* levels of service you want to avoid,

The wifi is poor and you cannot stream video. The TV;s are old and don't have HDMI in or casting from PC capability.

A few corners of the hotel, and the lifts show this place is quite old but has probably been refurbed around 5 years ago,

Fahd the grounds man was an excellent help to us throughout. The breakfast staff always found a tray to take breakfast to my wife and grand daughter in our rooms. There wasn’t a pedal bin in the bedroom, only a small one in the bathroom. No English speaking tv stations, not even cnn or bbc.

An extremely stylish hotel but feel it should be rated 4* not 5*. very luxurious \"arty\" decor & surroundings. Has limited meal options in the evening - 1 set menu. It's proximity to the wonderful Temples of Pastum is its main bonus and the area is not a resort: just near a little hill top village with medieval streets. Do not think you are going to the hilly, photogenic coast from Sorrento to Ravello. Just a collection of little shops and private houses plus couple of pizza places within walking distance . Very clean wide sandy beaches with woods behind them. NO sea front. It is an area of faded 1970's camping and hotel sites (many closed) for Italian families. I actually liked this natural unspoilt approach as the hotel itself was of quality and beach was 3 mins walk down a lane. Sunloungers, cafe and umbrellas on spotless beach cost 15 euros per room per day for B&B guests which I think is a ripoff and should be free , given the price of the room. Could do with more comfortable loungers round the pool with umbrellas. Smallish hotel and and masses of places to sit. Travellers used to modern resorts and rows of shops and bars need to look elsewhere. Pompeii is a good hours drive away. The hotel must make its money from luxurious weddings that happen mainly over the weekend ie main pool closed at 3.00 pm to guests on the Fri we were there. Smaller pool and sun terraces remained open. I enjoyed staying there as an interesting experience for 3 days but that was enough.

Well we didn’t expect the Hotel to be so far from Naples. But after arriving at Naples we was glad it was. We got the Train from Naples Central to Paestum which took just over a hour. After arriving there we found we was in the middle of nowhere, after a 15 minute walk we ended up in a world heritage site of the oldest Greek Temples in Italy which was nice, we found a great cheap local Restaurant where we eat and drink a gallon of red wine for €25 and called a cab to our Hotel €10 for 5min drive.
We was pleasantly surprised when we arrived the Hotel was Top class Unfortunately we was given the only room without a Balcony stuck on the corner but we didn’t complain as the Room was nice but the Shower didn’t work properly €60 a night for two with a continental breakfast included which was lovely so hay ho you get what you pay for.
Not a lot to do outside the hotel but we managed to find a couple of little restaurants and a small bar all very basic and cheap too. Overall we enjoyed our stay which was designed as just a break for us. The Sun Deck with the Jacuzzi was a hit.
Would we go back, yes for another cheap break and Hopefully the weather would be a bit better next time as it was early May and it rained for a couple of days. We loved the Hotel.

Was originally put in a very small dark room with broken door, had to complain to get moved. Shower was in a cupboard ! Very poor first impressions. The room we moved to was better but certainly not 5*. There was no tea/coffee making facilities, no hotel information so didn't know what was where. Safe didn't work ! Not even a 'do not disturb' notice. Walls are very thin and you can hear conversations around you. Breakfast was usual Continental style but only 1 very small hot dish with scambled egg or dried bacon. Hotel was hired out several nights for 2 weddings and a Christening so was taken over. Absolutely nothing on the beach so can't even get a drink or something to eat. Very disappointing and very isolated with nothing opened in the village/town. We hired a car which was a godsend to get out of the place ! We acknowledge it was out of season, but there is nothing opened in early May around you. We have stayed in much better 3-4* hotels. Would definitely Not recommend this hotel or Town.

Luxury Hotel in Historical Town

Mec Paestum is a beautiful property and reasonably close (we walked) to the Greek temples. Our room was not large (like many Americans, I find Italian rooms rather small; think New York, but not as bad as Tokyo), but it was roomy enough, very clean, modern, great sea view,and nice bathroom. Hotel staff was outstanding, and a special compliment to Tina at reception who was charming and spoke excellent English. A minority of reviews knock this hotel for catering to loud wedding parties. This was not our experience, we had a positive, pleasant, and luxurious experience (March 2018). That said, the hotel does appear to be designed around large events like weddings, same as you'll find in Aruba or similar. So the hotel should be criticized for hosting a wedding? They should shut down a wedding reception because one guest complains about noise? Sorry, that does not sound reasonable. Take some self responsibility people, put in ear plugs. I get that some people will have a more restrained expectation of a bucolic, mild, quiet, peaceful experience.... maybe you'll have that experience at Mec Paestum (we in fact did) and maybe you'll be there during a wedding party, but blaming the hotel is unreasonable and reflects generally on a churlish reviewer. If concerned about potentially unmet expectations, act intelligently and call or email Mec Paestum ahead and simply ask if a wedding is booked during your planned dates. Again, more self responsibility, less blaming others ....

A wedding venue with an hotel attached

This hotel is a convention center/wedding venue with a hotel attached. There is a lot of space for reception and hotel guests use a dining room in the basement which is fine but not great. The room was very nice but it was noisy at night because they had some party going on. The two nights I stayed they had different weddings going on. The hotel is 2 blocks from the beach so there is no beach view.

This hotel is very modern and bright. The room was decent size and very clean. The bathroom was fine except there was a clear glass door separating the toilet/shower from the sink which was a little odd. The caliber of the hotel staff was hit and miss. For example, the doorman/valet was fabulous. The front desk staff were fine. Luca, the bartender upstairs by the pool, was great. The bartenders at the downstairs bar couldn't have been less sociable. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious but the experience was a little weird. The restaurant was not busy so the restaurant staff just stood to the side looking/hovering for something to do.

very nice hotel & friendly staff, lovely views from our 3rd floor room. Pleasant white decor throughout the hotel with lots of informal seating areas around the grounds and pool. Christmas decorations throughout the hotel. Good breakfast of fruit, orange juice, custard croissants, ham, cheese, bread & jam etc Good sized room & en-suite and plenty of wardrobe space. Fridge with minibar.
Hotel easy to find as good signage in the area, parking on site. Close to 3 temples of Paestum but not too much to do locally in the evening, although good pizzareria within easy walk of the hotel.
Good value in November and I think we were the only guests.

Insgesamt eigentlich ein schönes Hotel aber sehr viel Raum, Fläche und Ausstattung lediglich für die Optik ohne jeglichen Nutzen. Das Design ersetzt die Zweckmäßigkeit.
Hier wird ein 5* Hotel bewertet!
Positiv: Freies Parken, schönes großes Zimmer, schön möbliert, sehr gutes Bett, angenehm großes Bad, schöner Balkon mit Meerblick, Shuttle zum 1km entfernten Hotelstrand mit Liegen und Schirm kostenlos.
Negativ: Für 5 Sterne war die Ausstattung im (hellhörigen) Zimmer und Bad sehr dürftig, nur ein (unbequemer) Stuhl, keine (kostenlose)Wasserflasche, kein Kaffeeautomat, kein Schuhlöffel, kein Bodylotion, keine Tissuetücher, Plastikzahnbecher, wiederholte Einwahl ins WLAN erforderlich.
Für 5 Sterne ebenfalls ein sehr bescheidenes Frühstück: Minimale Brotauswahl, Käse, Wurst und Schinken ok, aber Rühreier nur gegen 6,00 € Aufpreis, 3 farbige Zuckerwassersäfte, frischer O-Saft nur gegen 5,00 € Aufpreis, Ananas und Melone frisch sonst Dosenobst.
Am Pool nur wenige Liegen mit Sonnenschirm, an der Längsseite viele Liegen ohne Sonnenschutz, Pooltücher kosten je 3,00 € extra.
Das ist maximal ein 4* Hotel. Wo kommen nur die 5 Sterne her?

Certes, bel établissement, proche des magnifiques temples et de la mer. Beaux aménagements extérieurs. Un accueil souriant mais très formel : la jeune femme s'est empressée de nous rappeler les 35€ pour notre chien (oui, 35€). Pour ce prix, il ne peut être avec nous au petit déjeuner alors que beaucoup d'hôtels proposent au moins une table éloignée du buffet. Veilleur de nuit très poli et sympathique (le seul).Chambres propres, spacieuses et confortables, balcons agréables. Surprenant pour un hôtel de cette catégorie : pas de serviettes d'invités pour s'essuyer les mains, pas de mouchoirs ni de bouteille d'eau à disposition dans les chambres encore moins une gamelle d'eau pour le chien (celle du hall était sale et vide). Petit déjeuner varié et bon, personnel froid et distant (sauf le monsieur du bar). Un check-out poli mais effarant pour un cinq étoiles: la facture, merci et pas une demande sur notre séjour ! Pourtant, mon épouse est bilingue...
Si nous avons l'opportunité de revenir une nouvelle fois dans cette ville que nous affectionnons, nous saurons que la convivialité n'est pas leur fort. La marge de progression est importante : la retenue attendue dans un 5 étoiles n'est pas incompatible avec un minimum de chaleur humaine nous semble t'il, d'autres établissements en sont capables.
Les majestueux temples ont atténué notre mécontentement et les délicieuses pizze servies à 'Las Vegas' aussi....

Bella struttura nel complesso. Camere grandi. Bella la sala colazione e ristorante, curata e con vista su piscina.
Il bagno con qualche difetto necessita di maggiore cura : acqua dallo scarico a pavimento che si allaga, niente accappatoio ( siamo in un 5 stelle ), doccetta senza supporto a muro. Però rimane un ottimo hotel.

A beautiful sunset

The hotel was very beautiful and especially the view from the dining area was amazing. Room was clean and spacious but a bit too hot even though we asked several times to turn it cooler. The staff was friendly but sometimes they had difficulties to communicate in English. Hotel had an own beach and a shuttle-bus service there. The area around the hotel was uninvating as we could not get lunch from anywhere.

Struttura bella ma trascurata senza manutenzione, camera con bagno sporco e perdite d'acqua. Piscina senza manutenzione e attenzione. , tutto un po' in decadimento. Ristorante qualità buona sia a colazione che pranzo. Personale discreto. Nel complesso non ci tornerei e non lo consiglierei. Wi-Fi inesistente... nessun cocktail di benvenuto all'arrivo anzi freddezza totale .... no proprio non ci siamo 5 stelle assolutamente mal riposte

Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen und hat auch zu 80% das falsche Personal. 5 Sterne hat das Hotel schon lange nicht mehr ausser den Preisen. Im Restaurant zahlt man fast das Doppelte als in Paestum selbst und die Qualität lässt zu wünschen übrig. Zum Frühstück sind wir ein paar Tage gegangen und dann haben wir eine kleine Büffelfarm entdeckt dort bekommt man für 4,5€ ein gutes Frühstück.
Wenn man den Hotelstrand nutzen möchte, der nur ca. 200m vom Hotel weg ist, muss man 25€ pro Tag zahlen. Wenn man den Kostenlosen Strand nutzen möchte, muss man mit dem Hotel-Shuttlebus fahren.bei dem Strand hat es dann aber keine Infrastruktur außer man möchte sich von Bier, Wasser oder Spritz ernähren.
Das Hotel selbst fällt langsam auseinander überall bröckelt die Farbe ab. Und bei uns auf dem Gang ist ein Arbeiter seit 5 Tagen dabei den Teppich auszubessern. Ab 8:50 morgens, also ausschlafen ist nicht. Zu dem kommt es noch, dass das Hotel sehr beliebt bei Familien ist und die Wände zu den anderen Zimmern wohl nur Sichtschutz ist. Auf der einen Seite war eine Familie wo das Kind immer am Abend wohl nicht ins Bett wollte und die ganze Zeit geschrien hat, bis der Vater noch lauter wurde.
Auf der anderen Seite im Zimmer hatten wir ein Baby das pünktlich um 7 Uhr wohl die Milch wollte und geweint hat bis sie endlich was bekommen hat. Und wenn man Duschen möchte, muss man ein paar Schritte unter der Dusche laufen, daher kommt wohl Wash&Go. Im Minutentakt wurde das Wasser heiss/kalt

Un bell albergo con grandi sale un giardino con piscine molto curato, evidentemente molto vocato (e frequentato) per matrimoni ed eventi. Nel mio caso debbo sottolineare che le feste che avvenivano nelle sale al piano terra non hanno interferito con il mio soggiorno. Le camere ampie con terrazzo sono curate. Buona la colazione. La posizione dell hotel all interno di una zona abitata non e forse ideale ma permette comunque di arrivare ai templi in pochi minuti in auto.
Pulizia ineccepibile.

Struttura importante da 5 * ottimi i servizi comuni, ottimi il personale , ottima la cucina, colazione appena sufficiente. Camera...parliamone..non degna non di 5* , ma nemmeno di un B&B.
Vi elenco:
- letto di una doppia con materassi spaiati , un + altro dell'altro e probabilmente con molti km!
- condizionamento...regolabile dalla reception...prima notte ibernati..seconda un po' meglio...alla terza abbiamo tenuto aperta la finestra
- piatto doccia 80 * 80 ...un uomo non ci sta!
Mi risponderanno..che le condizioni economiche erano particolarmente vantaggiose... Vi dico che per un hotel così bello e lussuoso commercialmente non dovreste nemmeno proporla una camera del genere!

Organizzazione pessima, personale superficiale e poco attento alle richieste presentate. Stanza sporca, doccia rotta, ed un costante odore di concime organico proveniente dai campi vicini. All’arrivo le nostre valigie sono state prese in custodia dal tuttofare in abbigliamento totalmente anonimo. Check-in di circa dieci secondi, e poi mandati in camera. Qui le prime sorprese: 1) copriletto macchiato, doccia rotta, cocktail di benvenuto richiesto (e pagato 20€) assente. Tornati in reception chiediamo dell’assenza del drink in camera, caduti dalle nubi ci mandano al bar a bordo piscina dove ci informano che avremmo dovuto “sindacare” in direzione se quello preso sarebbe stato
