Words can't describe how great this hotel is to stay at. My wife and I were at the end of our trip across Europe, finishing in Munich and attending Oktoberfest before heading home. At the time I booked, I was hoping to find something very close to the city center but everything was either booked or too expensive. I somehow found hotel Kriemhild, and I'm so happy that I did. This is a family run hotel and the staff makes you feel right at home from the minute you arrive. This hotel is only a 2-3 minute walk from the 16/17 tram line which is a 10 minute ride away from Munich HBF. The hotel is also about a 5 minute walk from the Hirschgarten biergarten which is where we ate our first night, and loved it. The hotel absolutely couldn't have been any cleaner. The room was very comfortable, and the great thing about not being right downtown near the Oktoberfest meadows is that it is very quiet at night outside of the hotel. Although we did not eat breakfast while we were at the hotel, it looked and smelled delicious each morning. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Munich and would guarantee that you wouldn't be disappointed.

The Kriemhild is a small but cozy hotel near the Schloss Nymphemburg, is only a few steps to public transportation, has very spacious rooms, perfect for a family like ours (with 3 kids), their staff is very friendly, they serve a delicious breakfast in the morning, plus they have free parking which is a huge deal in Europe, we definitely recommend you stay here on your next visit to Munich

Staff was extremely helpful. Best advice I have is learn that the tram is different from the S-bahn and U-bahn. It will save you about 20 minutes of walking once you find the 16 or 17 tram line nearby to go downtown.

The personal service of this family-run hotel has had us coming back for years. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and in a quiet neighbourhood minutes by tram from downtown. It is also a two minute walk from one of the best beer gardens in Munich! We always appreciate the caring staff! Oh, and the breakfast is awesome!

We absolutely loved our stay at The Hotel Kriemhild! The hotel was in a beautiful, peaceful neighborhood. It was a short walk to Hirschgarten and Nymphenburg Palace. Our room had two beautiful bathrooms and two separate bedrooms, each with a king bed. I can’t say enough about this little gem!

Enjoyed a short 2 days stay in Munich,hotel was great very clean,staff were very helpful especially gentleman on the desk at check-in.the area were the hotel is very quite and clean,plus the tram line is 5 mins walk from the hotel, number 16/17 will take you into city centre at low cost,.so would really recommend this hotel for a quite stay,only negitve was,TV channels no English speaking channes and maybe tea coffee available in rooms

Clean hotel in beautiful neighborhood

My family (4 adults) enjoyed staying two nights at Hotel Kriemhild after staying one night in downtown Munich. Hotel Kriemhild is family-owned and well-kept. We stayed in their suite which was plenty of room for all of us. We walked to the bier garten down the street for dinner one night -a lively place. This hotel is also in a great great location if you are a runner -two parks nearby to run through. We walked to the Schlosspark Nymphenburg and toured the palace and the grounds.

We had a short stay in Munich. Well located in a quiet neighbourhood close to a park. Minutes from the tram which takes you straight downtown. The room was very clean, updated and modern. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel does have parking but it is limited. Note: We rented a car and had to park on the street as all the parking stalls were full.

Great Home Base for Exploring Munich

When we arrived at the hotel, the staff at the desk was very welcoming and helpful. He told us about sights and events going on, and even marked the locations on a map which he gave us. Our room was nice, and our daughters give a thumbs up to the WiFi. We were too cheap to enjoy the hotel breakfast, but did enjoy eating at a local bakery which was a pleasant walk down the street. The tram station, Koeniglicher Hirschgarten, and Nymphenburg Palace were all easy walks from the hotel. The hotel is located in a residential area, and parking looked scarce along the street when we arrived in the late afternoon. We managed to get one of the few parking spots at the hotel, which was great. This turned out to be an excellent location for our family to explore and enjoy Munich, and I would stay here again. The only challenge may be finding a place for the rental car.

Stayed here for 3 nights with a family of four. Hotel is in a quiet neighborhood close to public transportation (just 15min ride to Marienplatz). Parking is onsite and free, breakfast was excellent, and there are quite a few dining choices in close walking distance to the hotel, one of which is Munich's largest beer garden (the \"Hirschgarten\") just 5 walking minutes down the street. Staff was super friendly and always ready to answer questions. Perfect choice for visiting Munich if you are okay to be a little bit outside of the city center. Great value for your money.

Great little hotel!

A great little hotel, perfect for the price. It's located in a residential area about a 10 minute or less walk to the nearest tram stop and then a 20 minute tram ride to the central station.

The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. The gentleman at the front desk (I believe the owner of the hotel) was very helpful and patient (for the most part) with my questions. The breakfast spread was great with mostly cold items such as cereals, breads, fruits, and a selection of meats and cheeses. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone. You must be willing to make the walk to the tram stop and the trek to the city center.

The hotel was walking distance to Königlicher Hirschgarten which had really good food. The hotel is 20 min away from downtown so I would recommend booking this hotel if you have a rental car or if you don't mind the public transportation.

We stayed in a family suite with a separate small bedroom attached to the main (bed)room. Bathroom is spacious with separate bathtub and shower area. Free onsite parking is available. We found it's value for money!

Lovely small hotel in a residential area but walking distance to restaurants, services and the largest beer hall/restaurant in Munich. Easy access to train (15 min. walk) or tram (5-7 min. walk). Very nice, self-serve breakfast with many choices in a spotless dining room. Older building but the rooms was modernized with a clean, convenient bathroom. refrigerator/mini bar in the room with unusually reasonable fees. There is a lift for upper floor access.
Although the owner/managers are planning on adding air conditioning throughout in the near future, not all rooms were air conditioned, including ours. I wasn't aware of this when I booked, but we were given the option to switch. We opted to stay where we were since the provided fan was ample and we don't particularly care for air conditioning unless the conditions are extreme. So, if you need it, book your room accordingly.
Front desk was always helpful with sightseeing suggestions and explanations of train, bus and tram schedules. We moved about pretty flawlessly. We didn't have a car but there appeared to be ample parking off-street. WiFi was free and reliable.
Points of interest: BMW museum. Allow 1.5 hrs. 2.5 more if you do the factory tour. Their are museums, palatial estates (Nymphenburg Castle, for one), the Glockenspiel at Marienplatz, shopping for every taste and 100's of restaurants. This is a big city. Use the metro if you want to see it. The English Garden is cool but massive. Rent a bike.

Location!

Hotel was at a great location near the Tramline that we would take i to town and around the town on the Subway for < $12 for 3-5 adults! It was also near a Beer garden where we could sit and watch the Euro soccer games. Also close by was a grear German restaurant with some of the best food we had in Munich.

We stayed for a few nights on what was our first visit to Munich in November 2015. The hotel was comfortable, but I don’t feel like we got value for money, and I’ll never understand why the TripAdvisor reviews are so glowing. It felt like they have been relying on reputation, and not investing in the future.

The hotel is located in a suburb to the west of the city centre which means that transit time will add up over a few days. Taxis took about 15-20 mins from Marienplatz and Munich central train station, but there shouldn’t be a need for most people to drive downtown. It is close to the 16 and 17 tram lines (15 mins to central station and 25 mins to Marienplatz). The hotel staff were able to suggest a bus route (I think it was bus 51) that was a quicker option for getting to the BMW Museum, near the Olympic stadium. There are a few good places to eat in the area, but these may be limited by the time of year that you visit. Foodie-types will be much happier near the city centre.

We booked a \"Comfort Double Room” on Expedia at €118.00 /night. This rate felt pretty high for a pretty utilitarian room with little personality. There was a stain on the floor by the desk area which is part of the end of the bed, and few scuff marks on the wall. It appears that smoking and non-smoking rooms are segregated so the corridors didn’t smell great. We didn’t notice much noise from the road, although other reviewers have commented on this.

Stayed here August 18-21 with my wife and two boys (14 & 11).
Have nothing but great things to say regarding the experience as a whole.
Rooms and hotel were meticulous. Recently renovated with high quality materials.
Staff was so friendly and helpful. The lady helping out during breakfast went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect.
Very short walk to the Tram (20 minute ride to the city center), great dining and Nymphenburg Palace.
Highly recommended hotel thats an amazing value.

Our stay in Munich was special because of our hotel. The location near Hirsch Gardens and the Nymphenburg Palace was exceptional and a quick walk to the Tram got us straight to Marionplatz within 15 minutes. We were very happy we chose this hotel over some of the choices right downtown. We felt as though we had the privilege of being in a true Munich neighborhood with the convenience of the city. The staff were all friendly and very accommodating. The room was very clean and spacious for a party of 3. The breakfast was delicious and parking very convenient.

Enjoyed our stay here very much. Out of the city centre but excellent public transport links (eg tram into centre takes 15 mins, runs about every 10 mins) and the hotel reception sells an all day family pass, very handy! We had a suite for our family of 4- the second bedroom is small and it has a double bed rather than 2 singles but it wasn't a problem for our kids (ages 9 & 6) especially as they had a tv in there too! Good buffet breakfast with very friendly waitress. All very clean and comfortable. The mini bar had very reasonably priced drinks eg 1 euro for a coke. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet location. Would definitely stay again if in Munich.

From the time we arrived, Paula was really friendly and helpful. Bedroom was well equipped, comfortable beds and some nice small touches. Breakfast was good with the best home made honey I have ever had. The guesthouse was in a nice quiet location but an easy 5 minute walk into town centre.

Breakfast was ok but no gluten free food for my wife even though we requested it. The neighborhood was residential and quiet. No other hotels or shopping nearby. Close to the Schloss Nymphenburg. Parking was marginal. About 6 very small spaces. Very tight. East walk to Hirschgarten restaraunt and bier garden. Staff was very friendly and helpfully. Easy walk to tram 16 and 17 stop. No public seating bar or restaraunt. Elevator available. Narrow streets. Prices increased much too high during stay due to October fest.

Cozy Hotel in a Great Location

We stayed four nights in this modern but cozy family run hotel. The onsite parking, great location and air-conditioning in a small hotel setting were the initial selling points of this hotel. The hotel is located in a neighborhood setting, that is easily accessible from the main Autobahns running north and west. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Nymphenburg Palace and Gardens, two blocks from Munich's largest beer garden, and two blocks from grocery stores and bakeries. The trolley stop, located three blocks from the hotel, is just a 10 minute ride to the main train station and old city. Train/bus/trolley tickets can be purchased at the hotel.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English. We received great recommendations for things to do and places to eat around Munich. Very nice people. The onsite breakfast (additional charge) was delicious. In addition to a great selection of brötchen, they had different fresh baked loaves of bread each day along with the usual german breakfast fare.

We were very pleased with our hosts, our room and our stay at this hotel.

The hotel is situated in a pleasant suburban location, with good tram connections to the centre of the town. It is well-run, efficient, and pleasant to stay in, although clearly it is modest rather than luxury in its character. The people on the reception desk spoke excellent English, and were a fund of useful information about the city - e.g. where to go for a range of computer and electrical supplies; what to have a look at if I had time spare after work, etc. It is somewhere to which I'd be happy to return. The only thing worth noting, is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms, and this might mean that it is rather warm in hot weather.

This Was Quite Unexpected!

When we booked Hotel Kriemhild, we had an idea it was outside of downtown Munich and it is. We knew it was near a palace in Munich, so how far out could it be? It was near the summer palace, which back in the days it was built was about 1.5 hours out of the city by horse or horse drawn carriage.

Hotel Kriemhild is not in the tourist, busy or commercial district of Munich, and that makes it all the better. We were not expecting a hotel in a residential neighborhood with no other hotels or tourists around, but that is what we got. It was wonderful in every way and I am so glad we made the choice. Picture a place where you get to eat, drink beer, and travel into the city like a native and you have the Hotel Kriemhild.

Oh! We never had to go out for breakfast. The hotel serves a hearty breakfast for eight Euros. Breakfast has fresh baked bread, lots of German meats, all kinds of cheeses, 3 yogurts and every mix in you could want, fruit, coffee and more. This was a bargain. We went our second morning there and quickly learned do not miss their breakfast.

It gets better as the mass transit in Germany runs like clockwork. Whenever we wanted to go somewhere the 16 and 17 tram took us right into the center of the city. They trams, subway, etc. run constantly. The stop is a 4 minute walk from the hotel.

Very Nice, Family-owned Hotel

Hotel Kriemhild was a very nice, quaint hotel. The service was excellent. We were able to purchase public transit tickets at the front desk and they were very accommodating when we were not able to arrive before the check in hours ended. The location of the hotel is both a pro and con. It is about a 15 minute tram ride from the city center. The area is nice and quiet and perfect for families. But if you like to be close to the action, this location may not be the best fit.
