We had a lovely two night stay at the Sligachan Hotel. Our room was clean, the beds were comfy with good pillows, and the rain shower feature in the bathroom was wonderful! We had a nice view of the water from our window.

The bar next door, Seumas' Bar had an excellent selection of whiskey, a very nice dinner menu. The sea bass was fabulous and the honey cake dessert was divine.

We would like to especially thank Mariam at the front desk for being so kind and helpful during our stay.

The room was beautiful and the location was nice and central. Gorgeous view in the mornin, wonderful staff. I loved how classic the exterior of the building appeared and how modern the inside of the room was. Would stay here every time if I could.

Hotel was quaint, clean, and staff was friendly. First issue was the suite we had booked because of the large spa tub wasn’t working. We called the front desk from our personal phone ( no phone in the suite) and they shared the water had been turned off because it leaks into the room below-the tub was prominently featured on the room photos and was a main reason for booking the suite. The second issue was due to no carpeting in the room and assuming little insulation-every time we got up to use the shower or the bathroom the room below complained we were “moving” furniture around. Our evening was interrupting several times with the staff asking if we were moving furniture around and lastly with the tenet a below coming up and being rude -asking why we were using the bathroom and moving around so much. Additionally, if you like a firm mattress the beds will suit you, if you prefer a softer mattress you may want to consider staying somewhere else. There are no elevators/lifts so if you’re staying in the Pinnacle suite, it’s hard to navigate the stairs with large luggage.

Check in was good but after that things were less than ideal. The floor in the room was very damp, to the point where my shoes and socks were getting wet. I tried contacting the front desk and service number multiple times with no answer on the phone, and even went down to the desk multiple times and no one was there. There was supposed to be someone at reception until 9/10pm however there was no one from 6:30 onwards and no one to reach by phone. The damp floor was gross and unpleasant.

The Pinnacle suite at the hotel was very spacious for our family of four with beautiful views from
each window! The hotel is charming and aged, but the room was very nice and seemed recently renovated. We were very comfortable and enjoyed dining at Seamus Bar. We recommend and would stay here again!

This historic hotel has been beautifully updated - the rooms are stunning for such an old property. I also loved the restaurant in the hotel, and you're surrounded by the island's tallest mountains. A historic bridge is right across the street. It's also super cool that they have their own museum room with loads of history about the town and property. My only qualm was that service could be friendlier and the lobby smelled of strong cigarette smoke.

The hotel was lovely, good parking available, very friendly and helpful staff, room was gorgeous and immaculate, the breakfast was excellent value, if booked the day before it was only £10 per person and included a buffet and a menu option, cannot praise the breakfast enough. The only thing (which is fairly small as the hotel was quiet) was that you could easily hear people outside your room when they were entering/leaving their rooms, but not something that would ruin your stay. Would highly recommend and would come back in a heartbeat!

Average place. The profile picture is not quite like the one I walked into.
The bar and the restaurant were located in the building next door. I couldn't see the billard table inside the hotel.I thought we could have a drink and play around billiard, and none of this happened.
The breakfast served from 7.30am to 9.30am, good that they have a variety of food. Since we came back from morning hike, we almost missed the breakfast. The checkout time is 10am, time is pretty tight after the breakfast.
The thing I felt most uncomfortable was, when we were leaving, I saw the staff put the clean towels and linen on the ground outside the room for those who are checking out. It is not hygenic at all.

Pinnacle Suite at Sligachan Hotel

The Pinnacle Suite was amazing! Our kids had their own space and so did we! It has a cozy, modern update that makes it feel like home. Breakfast was delicious and the restaurant next door had a great dinner with extremely friendly staff (this was a great perk since most food places were closed mid October). The view from the room was also amazing!

This was an excellent choice for our night visiting Skye. Centrally located and right at the Sligachan Old Bridge- a must see experience.
The hotel and restaurant staff are wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and Seamus’ Restaurant nest door was the perfect spot for dinner. We had an all around great experience.

I don’t often write reviews but feel compelled to here. After a long day of driving from Culloden, we hit the brunt of Storm Amy in the dark before we ever hit the Skye bridge. After what felt like a lifetime in 90+ mph winds we finally got to the hotel and felt like we were walking into a friends house. The staff made us feel incredibly welcome. They shuffled us over to the pub next door for a warm meal and a cold beer (the food is excellent), took our bags to our rooms for us, and checked in on us while the storm passed to make sure we were comfortable. They absolutely went above and beyond at every step. The next couple of days were incredible. Breakfast is top notch, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the location is amazing. We ate at the pub each night and they were some of the best meals of our trip. We will absolutely be back.

Great hotel! Location isn’t exactly central, but there’s a bus stop right by the hotel, or it’s about a 15 minute drive to Portree. Plenty of trails and things to see within walking distance of the hotel too.

Clean room, renovated bathroom, good food at the breakfast buffet and restaurant beside.

The staff is really kind and helpful, I felt that they truly do their best to make each guest feel welcomed/cared for.

I suppose the only downside is the wifi connection/data connection can be wonky due to the weather, but that’s just the case for Isle of Skye in general.

If you’re staying in Isle of Skye I’d definitely recommend staying here!

We rented the Pinnacle Suite as it slept 6 people. However there was only one king sized bed and the remaining beds were two single hide a bed chairs and one sofa hide a bed...all of the mattresses were on the floor. We also were unaware that we had to climb two sets of spiral staircases to access the room. The room was lovely however and the hotel was also lovely. The staff was very helpful and we enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant. The breakfast was also good.

The hotel was easy to find, has ample parking, is right across the road from the Sligachan Bridge & is a fairly central location for visiting the Isle. Our room was a bit of a walk up stairs & down hallways toward the back of the hotel, which made for a quiet night, but it is a hike with luggage. The room itself was small, but had decently comfortable twin beds & a place to hang clothing & store bags. Dinner was available at an adjoining restaurant, which is large with a varied menu & televisions and must be pet friendly as there were several dogs under their human’s tables. Breakfast onsite was good with nice choices and friendly staff.

The onsite pub had a wonderful and knowledgeable bar staff member that taught us about Scotland whisky. The dinner was wonderful! High tourist area with tour buses stopping in. The room was beautiful, and the en-suite bathroom had been modernized. The bathroom was stocked with Highland Soap brand products, the whiskey and honey room diffuser was great, Seaweed was ok. The bar next door was super convenient for dinner after a long day of traveling and hiking. At check in, host offered purchase for next morning breakfast at discounted rate which was menu options like eggs benedict and croissant ham/egg sandwich (great) with free continental pastries. The inn is located across the street from the old bridge and centrally positioned for our trip to fairy pools and north to old man of storr, etc! Only small hiccup, there are no usb charging ports in the room. So if you didn't bring adapters, you could run into battery issues for devices.

We stayed in a family room, which was large with a good bath room.Large comfy double bed.
Only down side was the double sofa bed that was very uncomfortable, would have preferred 2 separate single beds for the children.
Great breakfast, it was a pity that the hotels own restaurant was not open for dinner. It was when I made the reservation. No hotel bar either.
You can go next door, but it was very busy and not to the same standard,
The hotel was very expensive. The outside could do with some maintenance.

The only thing I had an issue with is large windows in the bathroom that didn't offer alot of privacy. I was always concerned that people in the building next to ours could see in. Also, the shower leaked outside the door alot. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay!

Not sure if all rooms are like this…no ventilation system in room/bathroom, strong and horrid perfume smell to mask other odors I suppose, very old and dirty carpets, heating turned off early in the morning until 3pm (wet clothes never had chance to dry), tap water yellow. Paid 800 pounds for two nights (the most we ever paid for a hotel stay). But if none of this bothers you, location is extraordinary and parking is included. Nice that they provide water bottles. Very nice shampoo and soap.

Old inn which must have been great 100 years ago but is in poor shape now. I paid 250 pounds a night for a small single room with bathroom. No reading chair, small desk and chair, basic hanging facilities. Breakfast was great, best part but would not recommend it otherwise. Expensive, small, run down, needs major investment.

I had an excellent stay at the Sligachan Hotel. The hotel is steps away from breathtaking scenery for walking or hiking and a quick bus/car ride to Portree for shopping and dinner.
Martin, the manager, was so helpful and kind. He drove my friend and I from Portree to our train because the bus schedule that day was not aligning well with our train schedule and morning activities. He also gave us great tips on the best things to do on the Isle of Skye and made sure that all of the guests were enjoying their stay.
The breakfast was high quality - I loved the smoked salmon and eggs and the fresh fruits and yogurts.
The receptionists were always friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions.
I would recommend the Sligachan hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable stay right near the Cuillian Mountains and a quick commute to Portree.

As we had some disability and had a room with an accessible bathroom, This was on the first floor with a considerable number of steps and no lift. However, we were returning the following week and, although we could not be given a ground floor room (there weren't any) the staff promised us a room on our return that only had a few steps instead of a full flight of stairs. This was not ideal, but much better. Otherwise we liked the hotel and the resturant and the breakfast were excellent. We cannot however, recommend this hotel to anyone who is disabled.

Hi, I enjoyed my stay overall. The room was clean. The breakfast was what needed and the staff were friendly and nice to my dog. The one thing I would have liked is better communication as to the opening times of the bar. A big thing is made of the bar on Expedia and the hotels website. Realistically if you’re visiting Skye there is a good chance someone is driving. The main bar is closed for the season (opening the 26th March) and the snug bar closes at 9 pm. It would have been nice to have a nightcap after a long day.

I found a the stalk from a buch of grapes by the side of the bed which i was surprised was missed if the floors had supposedly been hoovered!? The ajoining restaurant/pub was good. Gorgeous property with a real Scottish feel. Staff is fantastic, the food at the restaurant is delicious and the bar is cozy, with a fire in the cold months and a great selection of beverages (even better at Seamus' Pub next door when open (but it was closed for our stay being the off-season). The rooms are excellent, the bathroom is great and has heated flooring & a heated towel rack. There are even many snack and drink options in the room. The breakfast was included with our stay and the menu was EXTENSIVE. We had a full Scottish breakfast (and I mean FULL) and eggs benedict with a homemade hollandaise sauce and local eggs. Lots of walks and sights to see very close by as well. You will not be sorry if you're lucky enough to stay here!

Location is picturesque - although there is nothing else around the hotel restaurant - next town is 9 miles away. Room was clean and nice. Views great. Food was good. This hotel did not disappoint. Martin was great and made sure check-in was flawless. Our room was incredible. It was very cute and clean. Our bathroom was massive as well. My spouse and I had lots of room to spread out during our stay.
We highly recommend heading over to the restaurant next door (Seumas’ Bar). They had great gluten-free options. The staff there is incredible and the food/drinks are very good. Also, ask for Yanish (I doubt I spelled that correctly), he’s hilarious and has a lot of pride in what he does. We ended up eating at this restaurant twice because the food was great and the staff was a lot of fun.

This was our favorite place we stayed during our 2 weeks of travel around Scotland. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room had wonderful amenities and loads of space. The private bar for hotel guests was our favorite. They had a fire going and one of their staff members was a wonderful mixologist that made wonderful drinks. The scenery is so gorgeous! You can walk out of the hotel and immediate hit a walking or hiking trail. We could have spent weeks hiking them all. It is also a great location to easily drive to hike the Old Man of Storr or the Fairy Pools. Great central location. The general manager worked so incredibly hard. He was running the hotel front desk, the bar, the restaurant, and he helped his employees out with everything. Food at the restaurant was delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough!

A wonderful place to stay in a beautiful place!
Staff could not have been better!
We had a flat about a mile away from the hotel and were able to limp back to the hotel.
Martin helped us call and coordinate the repair through our roadside assistance. He did this in addition to checking in guests and all the other tasks that evening. If we return to the Isle of Skye we will definitely stay here again!
