The location is extremely sketchy and dangerous. It’s very sad, but there were people injecting needles right next door. From our window we could see it happening. Felt incredibly unsafe every time we left the hotel room. Unsure how this hotel has so many good reviews.
The hotel itself is cute. However, we also received a noise complaint even though we were sleeping. The phone call woke us up, after we had traveled 18 hours. Elevator is also extremely slow.

We could not check in to that hotel there were homeless people all around the hotel sleeping on the sidewalks we did not feel safe!

Easily one of the best gems in SF. Highly recommended for anyone coming to SF. The staff was amazingly kind and helpful, the rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to celebrate my birthday, greatly appreciated. Great walking distance to anything around union square. And to everyone making reviews about the noise and the homeless, they are everywhere in SF, you can’t escape it. Yesha, at the front desk, was awesome!

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING HOTEL!!! THIS IS WHERE YOU WANT TO STAY IN DOWNTOWN SAN FRANCISCO! THE VALUE YOU RECEIVE FOR THE PRICE IS UNMATCHED. There are so many details & amenities to enjoy and the location is wonderful! We were able to walk to several restaurants, bars, and places to shop. The best part of this hotel is their top-notch hospitality, luxurious decor, and customer service (especially from our favorite front desk attendant BRIAN!!) We will definitely be staying here again, since we cant afford the $7M real estate!!!

Wow, staff outside themselves - from reservation desk Ryan to hotel supervisor Yesha to front desk Arnold, each were friendly and helpful, making our anniversary stay memorable. The Drama Queen room was the perfect size and shape for us -- beautifully appointed. Though they had no room package for our celebration, they set up all the fixins' I brought -- roses, champagne, chocolates, and strawberries. They made a special heart out of towels on the bed and scattered rose petals around the room. Thank you, loved it all!

We have stayed at this hotel several times and have always enjoyed our stay so we weren’t hesitant to book it again. Unfortunately our stay was not very enjoyable this time. We always choose the room with a wheelchair accessible shower. The shower strip that should keep the water in the was not in working order and the bathroom floor flooded from the shower water spilling over. The floors remained wet and dangerously slippery the remainder of our stay.
The water itself was lukewarm and barely tolerable enough to rinse off before freezing. To make our stay even more unpleasant the heater/AC made a loud noise all night keeping us from sleeping. Even with it being turned off. We had no tissues and half a roll of toilet paper. We were frustrated and disappointed with our stay.

Everything was so amazing staff it was so clean everyone was so friendly. We only had one problem the location i wish someone would have warned us about the homeless i get it everyone goes thu something we helped a few folks but staff should have told us or someone should have. Just a heads up don't walk outside after midnight just protect yourself and to be honest keep ur head on a swivel at night.

I had a 1 night stay for a business trip. Facility is clean and bed is comfortable. There were some homelessness but it didn’t bother me since the front doors are securely lock with buzz entrance. I will definitely come back.

Expedia claims \"what see is what you pay\" this is not true. they changed me an additional $41 a day for the opportunity to ride the hotels bikes and get 1 bottle of water that I could refill. Expedia should not say things that are untrue and hotel should not a fee for things that are a joke.

Hotel is beautiful, clean and in a great location. Room was small even though we had a king bed. There was no place to put our 2 suitcases. Even just to open them up to unpack, which we didn’t need to do since we were staying only 2 nights was impossible & annoying! You couldn’t even walk around the bed..there was no room!

The carpet in the hotel hallways and rooms smells... and it was not pleasant. I aired out the room the best I could and it was tolerable but I wouldn't want to stay again. The staff were pleasant, no issues there. Also, the area surrounding the hotel is really not nice.

I think the staff was great and were as helpful as they could be. A cloth chair in the room looks like they had tried to get as much stains out of it as they could, but it was still visible. The cabinet door that hid the refrigerator looked like the hinges were about to fall off.

Couldn't tell us where coffee places were, other than \"a couple blocks from here\" Same with rental car places. Only had room service once in 4 days. Had to ask for clean towels daily. Check out was noon, however when we came back at 11:10a after returning the car, we were locked out of our room. Overall it was ok, not as upscale as we thought it would be.

The hotel itself is very comfortable and has a nice lobby area but the area around it has an issue with homeless people hanging around- a couple of times, we saw homeless men drop their pants around their ankles to pee onto walls! 😖

Recently stayed at the Pineapple, and it was ok. The hotel and rooms are very clean and look new. Rooms are nice but small and it is a little noisy. They are pet friendly which is good for some. There is a bar in the lobby but it isn’t staffed during the week. Also no breakfast or food available. They do have a pot of coffee. This is a nice boutique hotel with new additional amenities.

Geary street is not as bad as the other streets around but there were many homeless wandering around every where you looked. They typically did stick to themselves but as a solo female traveler, I was uncomfortable having to walk that far to my car every day. I was always back in my room by 7PM each day (on purpose). I was surprised that there were absolutely food options in the hotel. The diner closest was $30 for French toast, sausage links, and OJ leaving me to have Starbucks every day. I wish I would’ve booked something further away from downtown with at least some food option and on site parking.

Our stay was overall fine. The day before check in we received an email from the hotel letting us know that the elevator was down with no ETA and they gave as the option to cancel the booking without penalties.
We decided to stay there and we did not regret it.
Upon early check in they waived the resort fee and accommodated us in a lower floor. Check in was smooth and front desk agent was very nice.

Seems like a decent hotel before arrival, but we got very disappointed after we walked into our room. There's a strong weird unpleasant smell (likely mold) as soon as we opened the door. Our room is facing Geary St and the window is not soundproof at all, can hear cars go by when sleeping. The TV doesn't work neither, said they will send a maintenance person to fix it the next day and when we got back, it still doesn't work. We've stayed at lots 4 star hotels, this is definitely a disappointed one.

Terrible! The elevador was broken and didn’t get fix during our 3 days stay, so we had to get up and down our luggage through the narrow stairs. The noise was terrible outside the hotel and in the hallways.
The shower handle was broken and the shower door was out of its place so the water went all over the bathroom’s floor.
The AC turn on and off all the time specially during the night. They sent someone and couldn’t do anything.
They have to do so a serious maintenance to this place.

My stay here was fine, but a little disappointing. Hotels.com shows that breakfast is served daily at the property, but this is absolutely false. It looks like the hotel used to have an active restaurant, but it doesn't anymore. There is coffee available. I stayed here so I could get breakfast included, so this was very disappointing and misleading.
The daily amenity fee also seemed steep because the amenities were a bottle fill station, coffee, afternoon cookies, and wifi. Halfway through my trip the wifi died.
The area is not great, you're almost in the tenderloin so watch where you walk. No one bothered me and I was able to find nice food nearby.

Just Not the Same
Since our pervious stay at this site quite a few years ago, it was sad to see the location has declined, riddled with unhoused people, and filthy sidewalks. Inside the hotel, the cute little bistro has been shut down, the elevator was broken with our room on the 6th floor and very disturbing loud foul fights and yelling coming from the streets severally times during the night.
The room was still cute and clean and staff friendly. While hotel waived the amenities fee for the inconveniences of the broken elevator it was challenging for 2 people in our party to have to climb the stairs. With all of the prestay welcome emails that were sent prior to our stay, there should have been one letting us know about the elevator since we were told it had been broken for 3 weeks.
A little sad and disappointing compared to our last stay.

I complained and got no where, I stayed here before and it was good but climbing 6 flights of stairs with luggage was an extreme nightmare and once we got back to the room we stayed in because the stairs were torture. Unfortunately, the elevator wasn't working which was a struggle on arrival and departure days with climbing to floor 6/approx 106 steps with luggage. We were however, given a discount on our room rate when we checked out which, we thought was fair. Unfortunately the hotel bar wasn't in operation but a selection of chilled drinks were available. Complimentary coffee and biscuits were available in the afternoon.

Staff friendly and helpful. This was the best part. Rooms were too small.Felt cramped up. Bed was comfortable. No room service. Location is in the heart of city which has its benefits and pitfalls. Too many homeless people living in very sad conditions impact your mood. Sights and smells of squalor and filth remind you of the magnitude of the misery.

I love the idea that stayPineapple represents. Fun, funky, good vibes. It met most of those but was a bit disappointing as the neighborhood was noisy and has a challenge with aggressive homeless population right outside. A 24 hour grocery right in the same corner seems to attract a group of loud people all through the night. Our second night there we had to move to a different room at 1am to escape the shouting and fighting.
The property itself was lovely (room finishes/bed/comfort were all great) except none of the lobby amenities were available as the “Bistro” was never staffed or open.

The hotel is nice, but the surroundings and the city itself is in a decadent state, with lot of homeless and drug addicts littering and sleeping on the streets. You never feel a 100% safe. But once again the hotel is great, beds were comfy, and staff was nice. Good position to explore the city, really central.

The room was lovely and a bit quirky with the pineapple theme. Had a really good shower .It was small though that's typical for a city centre room. We had some issues with the WiFi (worked fine on an iPhone but was really poor connecting to an Android phone) and with the TV which weren't resolved during our 3 night stay. The lobby area is really nice. I've rated this based on the hotel itself, but just a warning that there are a lot of homeless people in this area and that the Fisherman's wharf area feels safer.

On its face, we really liked this hotel. However, we had to switch rooms due to excessive noise off of Geary Street and air conditioning that did not work. We were quite satisfied with the room they moved us to. The most annoying part of the bedding were the clunky European duvets – not one, but two, one for each occupant of the bed. I understand the green measures taken by the hotel and appreciate the effort, but one duvet would've been better.

I could not get online in my room; I had to use the lobby. They were having issues with parts of the hotel system. I changed rooms, but I still could not connect. Overall nice hotel, great location, would likely stay there again. Minor negative, no on site restaurant or bar, they did offer a complimentary glass of wine to be fair, but no where to hang out after dinner for a night cap. again, not a big deal, plenty of spots near by, more of an FYI rooms were typically small but clean and comfy staff was friendly

We stayed for our anniversary and to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival. I must say that Yesha & Angel at the front desk were very nice! Once we got to our room, Yesha brought up a bottle of champagne & champagne glasses with a Happy Anniversary card signed by her. That was so very nice of her. The hotel was beautiful with all the yellow and gold colors. The theme of the hotel is pineapples. They even had bathrobes in the room. The bed was comfortable. The room & bathroom were a little small but it was still very nice. They don’t have their own parking lot so we parked elsewhere & took an uber to the hotel. The neighborhood it’s in isn’t the greatest but it’s not the worse either.

This hotel is a hidden gem! It was absolutely beautiful, clean, and perfect! I loved the details with all the pineapple decor! The rooms are small, but if all you need is a clean, beautiful, place to stay, then this is perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

The room and hotel were fine. The price was reasonable. Staff was quite friendly. The issue we had was that the maid came into our room when we were out when we had the \"do not disturb\" sign up. We have nothing to hide and do not travel with valuables, but we do not need and do not want anyone in our room. It was disappointing to return after a few hours out to discover our wishes in this area were not followed although clearly communicated.

Sal and Heather at reception are wonderful. Rooms are very luxuriously decorated with ultra comfortable beds and linens. The corner room can be noisy but the back room s are peaceful.
