The property is waaaaay under rated. They need to renovate the cheaper rooms and deodorize. The slightly more expensive rooms are a great value. Half the price for the same quality compared with many city centre lodgings.

We did not get the room we booked. One of the mattresses in our room was 5 inches thick and very hard. I found a drug paraphernalia bag with crack or meth, glass pipes etc. in the chest of drawers. We brought the bag to the front desk for them to deal with and to not be accused of drug possession and use leading to legal troubles. Someone's personal items were still in closet and dressing table and are still there now as I write this. The tv remote had to be replaced. There was no remote for the climate control. Our check in host worked very hard and was able to get the remotes for us and in woorking order. She was very pleasant and accommodating. We had to go into the stairwell to use internet from one of the other rooms on our floor. We were patient the next day hoping the hotel would fix things for us thinking it was busy because it's the weekend. They did not. Sunday morning we asked to be moved to the room we booked but they declined. There are 3 rooms per floor and 8 floors in Hanoi Shining Hotel. We were informed by another host 1 room on each floor was like ours. They could not change our room because they were booked by someone else. We watched many guests check out on Sunday and we are to check out on Tuesday (4 nights total). Our substandard room was not cleaned after our first night. The receptionist informed us that they did not have a key because the tenant of our room was in south Vietnam on business.and they did not have another. The cleaner a key today.

Only positive thing is the proximity to the airport. Loud pet birds in the lobby, old and very worn rooms, no hand soap, little to no toilet paper, rock hard bed and a weird light in the top center of the room that wouldn’t turn off. Also extremely noisy at night.

Worst experience. Rooms look nothing like pictures. When we got our room, it reeked of smoke. This is suppose to be a smoke free hotel. So we requested another room. When we got that room, there were cockroaches everywhere. So we declined that room too. Then they said they will upgrade our room at no extra charge. That room just dirty and we just decided not to stay at that hotel. It got 3 stars, but should be 1 star

Arrived, no english was spoken by anyone which was to be expected. Did the check in process which was extremely long and I was the only one checking in. Get to the room, dirty shoes still in the room. Smelt like the room had not been used in years. Shower had no hot water. Climb into bed, see blood stains, contact reception, no English so was offered no help. I pulled all the sheets and stuff off. Slept direct on mattress. Was hard as a rock. The service staff in the restaurant need training to improve their attentiveness. Service staff in the hotel, like the front office were excellent. The food in the restaurant was incredible, very quick to serve and impeccable dishes! Wifi signal was patchy and dropped out constantly.

The lobby and restaurant of the hotel are modern and clean. The room was small and dated and could have been cleaner. Staff seem a bit moody and can be quite abrupt when they speak with you. The hotel is in a great location for the airport and the free shuttle bus is great. A good hotel if you need a one night stay before catching an early flight but probably not where you want to spend all your holiday.

The hotel is located close by the airport, so that was why I booked it. The room had no windows and the walls had many dirt spots. The bed was small and overall the room did not look like the pictures. However, I was just here one night and it was a cheap price, so it was manageable.

Our flight arrived at 11pm so we booked just a night here to crash. It was super easy to walk from the airport to the hotel, they have a giant sign. Room had a/c and a clean bed/bathroom, which was all we needed.

This is a handy hotel to stay in if you have an early flight from Phnom Penh airport - it's about a two minute tuk-tuk ride, or even a walk if you're willing to take a chance with the busy roads. I wouldn't recommend staying more than one night, however, as the rooms are pretty dirty and have the occasional cockroach.

The reception staff aren’t very friendly and unhelpful when we asked for a map. The bed was so hard I barely slept. It is handy for the airport tho and they offer free shuttle.

The bed was clean and well presented. The room however was tired and shabby. I don’t know if most guests are like me, just need somewhere to stay before an early morning flight, but even so, it was t a good feeling.
There was a restaurant which was one of the reasons I stayed there, I’d just come down from Battambang and wanted to be fed and watered. Unfortunately there was a band playing in the restaurant that were so loud I wasn’t even going to consider entering that room.

The hotel itself is nice, but the road construction makes it impossible to do any walking around the neighbourhood. It is an excellent place to stay if you have an early morning flight. It has a restaurant which has a menu not designed for the lone guest,but, seemingly, larger gatherings. Chinese food fair. Good though, just not for one person.

Now, it's important to be aware there're some rooms with no windows. If that's not an issue for you then you will be just fine. I've experienced both (window and window-less) and I was just fine.

Now, it's important to be aware there're some rooms with no windows. If that's not an issue for you then you will be just fine. I've experienced both (window and window-less) and I was just fine.

Location was only ok if you're wanting to go to the airport other than that it's in the middle of nowhere and not close to any bars restaurants etc was a 40 minute tuk tuk drive to the riverfront were we found a few bars.the hotel reception and communal areas are ok but the room itself was very very unclean with grime up the walls and very dirty bed linen,the room also did not have a window as it was boarded up which made the room very dark and miserable.breakfast was very very basic and had no alternative options other that Korean food.

I booked this hotel on a whim, I had just phlone in from the UK and was due to go to Seam Reap the next day. It is a great location to the airport and although the hotel staffs English wasn't great they were still incredibly helpful! I didn't have time to eat dinner or breakfast as when I got in I was so tired and I overslept the next day. All in all was great for a night, don't think id fancy it any other time though as it is out of town and on a busy road!

The room was tiny and obviously needed decorating the room had a kettle but no cups, so you couldn't make coffee even if there was some supplied. The fridge was empty even though they tried to charge me for everything that had been taken out of it when I complained and said that the fridge was empty in the first place they never charged me. The toilet in the room had a terrible smell to it. The interior of the hotel looks lovely including the reception but the rooms are terrible. the neighbourhood was a place I would NOT go out on my own. The good thing about this hotel was its very handy for the airport. I would never stay here again.

A good place to overnight very near to the airport
I picked this hotel for its location being only a ten minute walk from the airport. It's on a very busy road with some heavy traffic but surprising my room was very quiet. (306?). Ask for a room at the back of the hotel.
The reception was very efficient and helpful. The room was small but comfortable. En suite shower with plenty hot water. A good place to stay if you are looking to overnight and catch an early flight. There is a very good Chinese Restaurant immediately next door which served excellent food.

The room was comfortable, clean, and stylish. Finally an enclosed shower; surprisingly hard to find in traveling Asia! Had a nice view of rice fields and pool. Only downsides are location; don't count on walking to town, as we tried, and it was a downright hot and dangerous experience on the Seminyak streets! The concierge told us it was only a ten minute walk! The breakfast is so/so, you'll do better having it at the cute cafe next door!

The only thing good about this hotel is that it's not too far from the airport, and even then, tuk-tuk drivers want just as much to go there from here as from town. Otherwise, all three rooms our party had smelled quite bad, like something garlicky being used to cover up stale smoke smell. None of our rooms had windows. The cable TV didn't work (just snow). And starting at 7AM, there was construction in the lobby, with the sound of electric tools and hammers reverberating throughout the entire hotel. The surrounding neighborhood was generally run down, though the people were friendly enough. I wouldn't stay here again, and recommend that you do not stay here at all.

The place was very dirty. Also, the staff refused to give me the continental breakfast and when I showed them my Expedia itinerary they said continental breakfast does not have a clear meaning. The staff also kept trying to refuse my cash and make me use my credit card. Would never stay again.

Room had a very bad stale smell. It went away once the AC went on. The air conditioner was not strong, so I kept the bathroom door closed to help facilitate the cooling of the small room. But then the bathroom smell lingered & was very warm because no cool air was making its way there. But for the price paid, you can't really complain. Very close to the airport, taxi cab had no problem finding it, which cost $9USD flat rate. I contacted the hotel to arrange pick up, they confirmed, but the driver never showed up. When I told the desk at check-in they seemed surprised as they said he was sent. Staff very friendly & helpful.

Except for the fact that it is close to the airport, I don't find anything good to this hotel. I travel a lot and stay at a lot of hotels, but this is the first time that I stayed at a hotel without a window.
