The hotel is very good, excellent swimming pool and very near to the sea…. Comfortable bed, nice shower and a good breakfast, but it looks like they forgot to add a bar when designing the hotel! The bar was a little shack manned by too many staff that stuck to their job only. When the “man who only grilled food” appeared at the till… his arms went up not my job. When the ‘till guy” took 5 or 6 orders at a time, he didn’t help the “drinks person\" and then we had to wait for the “serving person”. One last thing, when we ordered bottle of wine we didn’t expect it to be already opened! When we complained at the time, we were told that was the wine measure. Not impressed.

Lovely facilities and beautiful place, snack bar great, food tasty and fresh. beach was perfect, however staff were a hit or miss, bistro, not great service or choice of food, Rooms were not very well decorated and charged for tea/coffee making facilities. Shower was good and breakfast really nice. Need money spent on rooms and a bit friendlier staff and not a fan of the salt water pool.

Fantastic stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Mare Hotel in Savona and would highly recommend it. From the moment I arrived, the reception team was incredibly kind and welcoming, setting the tone for a great visit.

The hotel offers three restaurants, and the one I dined at was absolutely lovely. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere added to the experience. My room was exceptionally spacious, with a large bathroom, plenty of fresh linen and towels, and top-quality toiletries. The bed was very comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches like a great selection of coffee and tea, as well as a well-stocked fridge. The balcony was a perfect spot to relax and watch the world go by.

One of the highlights of Mare Hotel is its direct access to the beach, making it incredibly convenient for a seaside escape. The town center is just a 20-minute walk away, easily reachable via the road or a scenic stroll along the beach.

As a female traveler, I felt completely safe throughout my stay. The hotel’s environment is secure and welcoming. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would definitely stay here again the next time I’m in Savona.

Everything was excellent. The check in was great very friendly staff. Only complaint: we checked out and wanted to hang out by the pool and beach until our departure time. The lifeguards were very rude. Would not let us sit on the chairs and refused to give my son a towel. We stayed there! They should have treated us like guests.

The property was nice, but the rooms need updating. The rooms do not look like what was on the picture when we were booking. This is not a 4-star hotel, more like 2-stars as far as the amenities and room condition: just a basic example, a 4-star hotel should have glasses in the room, instead we were given two paper cups and there was 3 of us. The second day we were there, we were left clean linen, but had to make our own bed, it was just left on the bed. Staff was friendly though

The bus pass is the only reason we stay here. They never upgrade and the beach isn’t attractive and the incoming tide is polluted, but hiking nearby is very good.

The pool is ok and keeps kids occupied. The restaurants are strangely expensive, we tried one last year and poured our own wine, though $20000 bottles were on the menu.

Front desk had no information to share about bus or hikes. Which if fine though unusual for so many stars.

The breakfast is ok but coffee line…ugh…just serve the coffee please.

We decided next time to take the extra train and stay closer to hiking and a cleaner beach.

The swimming pool and beach are amazing. Breakfast was really nice. I did not like the room. Very run down and the bedding was terrible. I booked the room based on 4 star to celebrate my daughter’s end of school. I had to have a room change due to the seal on the back door would not close. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. The new room I got had a ceiling leak and it rained overnight. The leak ruined food gifts that I picked up during my two week vacation in France and Italy. The property would be perfect if they would fix their rooms.

After not very glorious arrival, when the staff person at the parking lot willingly mislead us to park inside (10 euro a night) insisting the outside is equal price (it is free) - and receptionist solved it that we did not have to pay and then for the rest of time we parked outside, the rest of the stay was okay. Some staff were great, some were mediocre (but this is ok). The cleaning lady on our floor was awesome. Breakfasts were awesome. Sushi dinner great. Room facing the sea was great.

Overall we like it, except for the last night when there was a wedding in the hotel. Fireworks right under a window at 23:00? This was fine. But another fireworks at 2:00 am? Shame. Disrupted night, bad sleep with next day morning departure.

The only disappointment was that the restaurant we would have like to try was closed on the Monday and on the Tuesday was booked out at lunch and dinner for a private function. ( we stayed Monday and Tuesday night)

The property was definitely not close to the pictures shown on the website and felt closer to 1980's Acapulco than a upscale beach resort. The staff was nice and helpful but the air conditioner was broken in our room and felt more like a sauna than a beach oasis. Property needs a lot of love in the future to match the photos being presented and with work could be nice but it definitely located in a less than desirable area along with a horrible proximity to the train station. I would also suggest for the property to run a regular service to the station which would make it easier on their patrons. All and all I would not recommend this property.

We had a great time at Mare Hotel and it exceeded our expectations. The pictures of the rooms look cool, but in person they're even better! Lots of fun touches to make them unique. The pool was gorgeous, the beach was well kept with ample chairs, and the water was very clean. There are lots of seating options and everywhere you look it's very well designed and maintained. Even the lobby had a special metal palm tree, waterfall and rock chair design. So much fun, we highly recommend!

Great beech hotel.
My friends had a deluxe double overlooking the sea with a great jetted tub and fabulous furnishings.
I had a standard single that was great for my needs.
The breakfast, dining and drinking was off the charts.
We could not get reservations at the #1 restaurant in Savona as they were booked solid but they made reservations at 3 other places that were hard to beat.
Great food at reasonable prices.

The hotel was lovely. However not all the rooms are done to the standard shown on the website . I booked this hotel for my daughters birthday and was meant to be a treat. as the pictures of the rooms looked fantastic, modern with spa tub and lovely shower , I thought we would have a luxury stay. if you are unfortunate like us and get the room which is old then you maybe disappointed. I have asked twice if we could change a room but was a problem. I was disappointed as we stayed a week opposed to the people staying few nights. So the room was rubbish, had a street view which mean that every time you open a balcony , the traffic noise was so loud that you could not hear the tv as well as some work going on from early hours.Apart from that service was lovely , food was fab and staff very kind.

Bathroom had no shower screen so water went everywhere when we showered, hotel's location a fair way out of town so be prepared for a 20Euro taxi fare, a 30min hike or get some bus tickets at the Tabacchi shop 1.50 Euro each & catch the local bus. Weird over the top foyer decor, too!

Okay for a rest stop (if you like ocean sounds)

The Mare hotel is an older property that is on the Italian coast. While it was serviceable as a place to rest before the our last segment of our drive (we were returning a car in Nice the next morning), it really doesn't qualify as a destination in and of itself. Part of it is that, to a Californian used to sandy beautiful beaches, the beach at the hotel was a bit rocky. Also, there was nowhere near to walk about, it is on a straight one way road with cars zooming by with no restaurants or other enticements to speak of.
At least the relatively lower price took this into consideration so it, for us, was an okay value. Being able to leave the balcony door open at night and listen to the ocean at least was soothing. The weather though was perfect for this, you may not be so lucky, you should check if there is air conditioning (I forget).

The hotel complex is located on a nice beach, has three restaurants and clean, spacious rooms.
We booked a sea view room for one night and got one on the second floor next to the elevator over the kitchen which was incredibly noisy late into the night, and the sea view was almost entirely blocked by a large palm tree. The rest of the experience from restaurant to free breakfast was first class. The room and bathroom were large and lovely. Just make sure they don't put you in 107 if you want a quite, sea view room!

The hotel Mare has a first class beach and restaurants, the hotel is very modern and has a futuristic reception area. It's outside of Savona, but only a short bus ride away. We used it prior to our Costa cruise for three days, and it proved to be a perfect stay for us.

Loved this hotel! We (my family of 4) stayed there the night before our cruise. I didn't expect to have a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. We left the balcony door open all night to enjoy the sounds of the waves. Simply amazing! The infinity pool was gorgeous too. If I ever make it to Savona again, I'll definitely stay there again. Almost forgot, free parking too.

On the beach!

We chose this hotel as is was right on the beach. A really good spot to stop and unwind on a driving holiday. Beach was good with day beds and umbrellas. Hotel pool has a nice atmosphere. Staff were good on arrival but not so good on departure, leaving us and at least three other guests waiting to check out while she organised cleaning staff for the day. We had dinner in the sushi restaurant and it was excellent and a fair price. Breakfast is great and ample. Rooms could use an update and need a really good clean, mould in shower and dirt on the floor. All in all an enjoyable short stay for us.

Savona Disappointment

First of all the photos were misleading. The rooms were not as nice as they appeared in the photos. The Wi Fi was not secure with no passcode. There were no English speaking TV stations, at least not that we could find. Our room had ants in it. The parking was advertised as free but it was only free if you got to the hotel early enough to get one of the spaces. If you arrived late in the evening, you had to park in the garage and pay the daily rate. The air conditioner did not work well. The room was hot even though we turned it down all the way. The front desk had to reset it and it was still hot in the room. The beach was full of little rocks which made it difficult if not painful to walk along the beach. The lifeguard, apparently hired by the hotel, would not allow us to sit in the lounge chairs before 9:00 am, although after he told us no, he allowed several others to sit in the chairs. The front desk clerk tried to charge us more than the amount we had booked for the room. That information should have been on the reservation from Expedia. If we had not had proof of the rate, we would have been charged more. And last but certainly not least, one of the hotel employees wanted to enter our room late at night to locate his keys he said he left in there while making a repair. There was nothing in our room that needed repairing. He came unannounced by the front desk and it was very frightening.

I did not really like Savona but Mare hotel is probably the best choice if you want to stay in the city, as it is the only hotel on a beach. Hotel rooms were ok and comfortable, but the beach club was great. I also ate at 2 of the hotel's restaurants and they were both v. good.

Rooms really vary! This was our second stay

We loved this hotel so much we came back for another night after a round trip driving vacation. So two stays in a matter of 3 weeks. On our first stay we had the most amazing room! Balcony overlooking the sea, very big room, amazing shower, bed, etc. Incredible modern design and comfy bed. But on our second stay we booked a city view room and the room was a lot smaller and just very ordinary. Like the first, it too had been remodelled and was very clean, but the style gave the impression of an outdated room. Anyways I just want to mention that as reviews might vary a ton based on which room you booked. I don't know if all ocean views are one way and sea views the other but the difference between these two rooms at least was *dramatic*. I will add that on both visits, it was very good value with free breakfast (for everyone in hotel as no one asks for room numbers), great service, and free underground parking,. Also we tried the sushi restaurant and LOVED it. Much pricier than back home, but very well done and fun decor in that restaurant.

Amazing rooms facing directly onto the beach

Althought the entrance and lobby to this hotel looks worn, the rooms are fantastic! Large, wonderful modern design worth taking pictures of for their cleverness, best shower I've ever experienced...just perfect really. And so surprised to see that'sea view' was facing right on the beach!

Location is great as easy to fet to off higheay and its right at beach, but not much worth walking to in the immediate area (but we did find a few restaurants).

Also very friendly and competent service, they are multi-lingual and also welcomed our large dog.

Indoor parking and an excellent breakfast buffet were included, no hidden charges.

Can't say enough great things about this hotel. What a great find fir superb value.

Nice

The hotel is very nice. The beach and pool were beautiful. The breakfast buffet was very good with an excellent assortment of food. There are not many restaurants in the area of the hotel. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
