We loved the hotel, especially the service — we were very well received and felt truly welcomed throughout our stay.

The only small issue was the smell in the room, which felt a bit closed up, possibly a slight musty odor, and a bit strong at first. However, we left the balcony door open and it improved.

We didnt know about the courtesy shuttle but a quick, easy taxi from the port took us up to Anacapri and the hotel. The Shuttle returned us to the port and was very convenient. The hotel was amazing, easy walk into the town of Anacapri and will stay there again!

Beautiful building over look the sea, good location, within walking distance 5 minutes to piazza Victoria where is a transportation hub, shopping and restaurant. Chair lift to Mount Solaro also there in the Piazza. Walk another 2 minutes, reach bus stops to Blue Grotto and Faro. It is a very convenient location. Hotel also has 2 Terrance that beautiful sunset and sun rise views can be easy captured. Breakfast and resturant/bar offer breath taking sea views, over looking the Capri Marina Grande. I was very happy stayed there. Sure will come back to stay some day.

A dramatic place to stay!

The location is spectacular. The gardens are beautiful. The hotel is nice. The staff are friendly and helpful; we extend special kudos to Salvatore, the shuttle driver, who was exceedingly friendly and accommodating. We did find the room to be really small (but its terrace was twice the size of the room!).
One note of caution: avoid the restaurant in the hotel.

The entire hotel needs a little love (especially outside). Boxes and things in the lobby area. Let me say, however, that the staff was nice, the rooms are clean and best shower (except no door makes it cold). We would definitely be back!

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We booked NINE months in advance with “pay at property.” Instead, they tried to charge a card the morning of our stay — while we were literally in the air flying into Naples — and because that card had been compromised, they decided to cancel our reservation and give away our room. Their “solution”? An email demanding a response within 30 minutes. I saw it 36 minutes after landing, immediately called them with a valid card, and they smugly told me they had already given away our booking. The man I spoke with could not have been ruder if he tried. Not only was he dismissive, but he actually had the audacity to blame US for their incompetence. No effort to help, no shred of decency, just attitude and indifference. We were traveling for our wedding and they truly could not have cared less. This is hands down the most unprofessional and arrogant hotel I’ve ever dealt with. Do yourself a favor: book literally anywhere else unless you want your trip ruined by people who have no respect for their guests or their own commitments.

Charming Oasis

Excellent location in Ana capri with a free shuttle service to and from the ferry port. Also about a 5 minute walk to city center with plenty of shopping and restaurants and ski lift near by to see amazing views. Also the complimentary breakfast was excellent. If you’re lucky enough to book an ocean view balcony room it’s well worth a few extra bucks .

The hotel needs renovation. Old furniture in rooms like perhaps 40 years ago..some rooms are tiny and old looking decadent. Others not so. The staff helped me find a new suitable room. The gardens are great at the entrance and the view breathtaking or better mesmerizing. Food is average perhaps. I would not make it my dining kich standard l. I only tried the food at the pool. Breakfast was good indeed and with superb views from the dining hall. With the right investment and renovation this hotel can outshine even known chains of hotels there. I was promptly greeted by the shuttle driver in a brand new Mercedes van at the port. He was kind and spoke English. Check in was fast and informative as they gave me a map and told me where are the local things are. Room is small but clean and the views are incredible. Pool is large and the grounds are well kept. 3 minute walk up a small hill to Anacapri. I would define to stay here again.

The view of the sea from Hotel San Michele was breath-taking, the breakfast was plentiful with lots of different items, the front desk and housekeeping staff was very helpful, it's a 5 minute walk to \"downtown\" Ana Capri and the hotel offers a free shuttle to/from the ferry port. Their pool was delightful and I only wish we could have stayed more nights.

This place is just total glam, glam, glam. It was more than I'd usually pay but not exorbitant. On the hill overlooking Capri it's an old style hotel that is immaculately maintained. My room had a Juliette blacony looking over Capri. The common areas are classic Italian with beautiful artworks and surrounded by lavish gardens and terraces. Impeccable service from all staff. Free shuttle to the port (essential!!). The breakfast was lavish with amazing variety of choices. I loved this bit of glamour whilst in a town of charm and expense.

Property is sitting on top of mountain with incredible views. Hotel has a tremendous pool and is walkable distance (5 min walk) from Anacapri town center.

We went on July and the weather was very hot and humid, ACs take a bit longer to cool and rooms felt somewhat humid except in the early morning.

Breakfast is great. Rooms were comfortable. Staff was very helpful. Would return.

Absolutely Fabulous views and walking distance to Anacapri if you don’t mind walking on narrow roads with occasional traffic. There was an area wide internet loss during our stay that was not the hotel’s fault, although the hotel elevator did not work. Hotel has excellent porter service that will take your bags from your room to the ferry pier, which is very convenient for enjoying the town of Capri on the day you leave.

If you want to stay away from the crazy and touristy area of the port of Capri, and you don't want to break your budget, this is the place. It's high up on Anacapri, across the street from a 5-star hotel, so you get the views of the 5-star with the cost of the 4-star. The hotel is a beautiful old villa, with huge rooms, modern bathrooms (including a tub), fluffy white robes and slippers, and fabulous views. Staff was fabulously helpful and kind, and they PICK YOU UP with your luggage at the Capri port, no extra charge. Included breakfast was plentiful and fresh. It has a cool bar that in season (we went in April at the front edge) has music. It's a 10-minute walk to the chair lift up the mountain (go early in the morning before the cruises), and an easy b s ride to Lido Del Faro Beach Club which is totally worth the day. There is also a cool shopping area within a 5-minute walk. And because the island is small, you have easy access to the rest of Capri. We adored this hotel and it's wonderful staff, views, and amazing room. We highly recommend them!

The property website provide a deceptive vision of the hotel. This certainly was not and should not be considered a 4 star hotel. We reserved a sea view room, while we had a view of the sea the room was tiny and the interior was subpar. There was a wedding held during our stay and remnants of candy and ribbon left on the lobby floor the next morning. Not the experience expected in Anacapri. Very disappointed.

Reservation in weeks ahead
Checked in an expensive ‘Deluxe Suite’ ca. 11.00 am
(Beautiful panoramic view, large, luxurious spa tub,
No restaurant open; no bar open; and no walk (safe) to food
At ca. 15.00, began a excessive, VERY, LOUD music that began of a bass vibrating the walls and floors (sound check) with no prior warning/announcement of event
When we were asked; “it will be a party this evening from tonight” (!!)
(I was/am DEAF, and even I cannot think or talk it was so loud)
We asked at desk, and were moved to second room
Moved to highest room
The new room was significantly Smaller than the original room
The new room had NO bath/soaker tub, which was a part of my decision to choose this room, instead the new room had only a cramped shower
Upstairs had no lift which was an issue as I have physical deficits and difficulty walking
Constructed with a small piece of plywood for the platform above the steps
NO emergency egress available for emergency or fire escape
Due to my (recent) HEART issue, I cannot walk upstairs
When tried to discuss with person assisting (no tub, etc.), he rolled his eyes and using his arms and facial expression he made an “insulting gesture that indicated-don’t know.., don't care”
We were unable for food with walkable (busy, dangerous, road)
The LOUD music began ca 19.00, and played MORE than 12 noon

There was no desk available without called (bell)
Breakfast was WORST food
I travel for 6 weeks in Europe in MULTIPLE hotels

We stayed here for our mini-moon. The room was spacious, clean and an absolutely amazing view. Balcony was large and nice seating with a lovely morning sun. The bathroom had a tub with jets which was a lovely addition. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but very clean and the breakfast, though basic, was good enough. The staff were lovely at check in and the bar staff were accommodating. The restaurant by the pool served lovely food and drinks. The pool area isn’t great, grassy/muddy area, uncomfortable loungers and it’s open to the public so LOTS of families, very busy area. I think we probably could have worked this out if we dug deeper when we booked so not a complaint as such, just a warning for couples who want to relax in the future! Really short walk to Anacapri, and a great free port shuttle service. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

Please do not make the same mistake as I did. I read the bad reviews and I did not think it is going to be so bad. The hotel is stuck into 60’s. The state of the hotel is deplorable: cleaning is very poor, rooms are shabby and dirty and with appliances not working or a hazard of coming off the walls. Staff attitude is awful. It is going to spoil your holiday. The only good thing about the hotel that I can mention is the location, a beautiful spot in Anacapri. So please do not make the same mistake as I did and book elsewhere.

The hotel is definitely within walking distance to Annacapri. I was there during the last two weeks of their season so the hotel restaurant was open only for breakfast so walking into town was necessary for other meals, but there were several to choose from at all times of the day. The pool was beautiful, the hotel clean, a full all continents breakfast to make my stay very comfortable.

The view and the outside of this property are beatiful. The staff is fine, the location is really tricky. Taxi services are crazy expensive. Nobody helps with your luggage. There was no AC in my room so I had to sleep with the window upended and got eaten by bugs. It was extremely noisy as well. No Stebbins to detail here. It's like a traveler lodge. The beds were so uncomfy. Rock hard. There was a big party at the pool when I stayed so I definitely didn't get any daytime relaxation

Lovely Hotel, Lacking Staff

For a family run business on one of the most beautiful islands on the world, the staff is not seem to happy, friendly, or accommodating, especially for a four star hotel. The location and the hotel themselves are fabulous. The hotel had old world glamour and charm and my room was lovely with a fabulous view, but trying to coordinate rides, room service, even just asking questions was like pulling teeth to get any help. It was like the my looked at me like I had two heads for being a tourist and wanting some help and information. When I checked in the lady was lovely, but the men, rude. I had two suitcases. There were four able bodied men at reception, not one of them offered to help with my luggage, especially since the elevator only goes up to 3rd floor and o had to carry my bags up narrow-ish stairs to my room on the 4th floor. That being said the room was old, needs some updating, but the views cannot be beat. I tried to call reception and room service many times and no one answered either phone. Maybe it was because I’m not Italian. I love Italy and Italians, but like anywhere, people can be rude. It’s just strange, for livelihood that runs on tourism and prowl spending money if you do a good job, that they were so aloof.

The outside of the property is beautiful, but the inside is quite outdated and dirty. On arrival, the staff was less than helpful and seemed almost annoyed during check-in. That being said, the more we saw them over the week the friendlier they got. The hotel has two perks. First, the breakfast is always fresh and the servers are extremely kind. Second, they offer a shuttle down to the docks for your departure. If you are looking for a good location with an ok room, this is the place for you. If you are looking for luxury you may need to find a different hotel.

Always love this hotel for the view. The experience has to do with the room you get. We had 405 which is one of the best but you pay for it. Food at the pool is amazing. We had a round bed which was very comfortable. We stay at this hotel also because it is an easy walk to AnaCapri.

Spectacular views

Our stay was great, the location is phenomenal, truly harder to get a better view on the island. The hotel is beautiful and classy with a fantastic brunch. There is a convenient bus stop just outside the hotel to take you to the marina, capri, or other stops in Anacapri. The family was very nice to us, and upgraded our room for free!

To be completely honest, there was a little trouble at the end due to booking through Hotels.com, but that seemed to be largely due to the internet being down due to a large storm the night of our stay.

I would definitely stay here again!!

We love Hotel San Michele! Our room & view was perfect! The best view we ever had from a Hotel room. The hotel is an absolute beauty, just some areas need updating. It still has its charme, and deserves the best attention. A classic beauty! The staff was great. We felt at home at HSM! My husband and I will never forget our stay at HSM. Grazie Mille

Simple but lovely

The views are incredible, mostly in Anacapri you can’t see the ocean but from here you can. The pool is nice, it feels a little like a community pool but the bar & restaurant is full service and provides towels and loungers for a fee. Breakfast with a view of Marina Grande & Mount Vesuvius in the background is memorable.
