The Nohi Bus Terminal and the Takayama Station are literally just across the street. So convenient. Less than a kilometer away from the Morning Market area and the Old Town. There is a Family Mart and other restaurants nearby.

Room was perfectly clean and spacious. The bathroom was somewhat cramped but serviceable. The beds and pillows were quite uncomfortable. There were no noise problems, staff are friendly and the location is located near the station and the main street. There is also a public onsen bath which I did not experience.

Hotel that's literally facing the train station, despite that it's not noisy. There aren't a great deal of trains that go through the area. Some shops relatively close by, though a good 10 mins walk to where the action is. Hotel itself is nice and clean and friendly staff. Dropped off my baggage as I arrived a good few hours before checkin. No hesitation staying here again.

A convenient and lovely place to stay.
Directly across from the train and bus stations, walking distance to the historic district (5-10min), many restaurants nearby.
Rooms are simple but clean and modern. Gorgeous public bath for guests, and the breakfasts are delicious, plentiful, and feature a portion of a local delicacy, hoba-miso.
I had a very pleasant stay.

I had a solo couple nights stay at the hotel. The bed and pillow provided are comfortable enough. As with most business hotels, there isn't a whole lot of room to spread out, but the room is nonetheless clean and functional. Likewise, the bathroom is small, but the second floor bath house is of a decent size and comfortable.

The hotel is located close to the Takayama JR Station and the bus terminal, which makes it a decent base for trips to the surrounding areas like Shirakawa-go and Oku Hida. It is also not too far of a walk from restaurants, shops and the old town of Takayama.

The building and facilities are pretty old. Everything is quite clean though. Staff speak basic English but aren't very helpful. The check-in process was much quicker than other Japanese hotels as the staff probably skipped explaining house rules in English. Instead there's a card they asked you to pay attention and read it later. Once during non-rush hour there's no one at the reception, I yelled for someone to come out from the back room. I heard the staff keep chatting and laughing and waited half a minute for a guy to come out. As I do know some Japanese, they did acknowledge my presence in Japanese in their chat and just left me waiting. It's pretty common in Japan to hear some sales/staff talking about you who presume you don't know their language. It's an okay experience, but certainly not great.

Location excellent, across the road from the train station. Walk up the street from any cafes and restaurants, 10 mins you will arrive at main centre.
Room very small as expected for Japan, cannot check in before 2pm. Coffee making in the room as is a fridge. Only one key allowed so a little difficult when one person leaves the room and has to take the key then no electricity or air conditioning (37deg outside). Bed is extremely hard like a board and up against a wall. Not real comfortable but fine for one night. Probably a bit on the high price side when we stayed, in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in.

The hotel is located across the street from the bus terminal and about 10 minutes walk to the tourist street (mostly closed when we were the between 5 PM and 10 PM). Not much to do without taking the bus for tours We took the bus to the snow walls.
The bed and pillows were very firm, room was small (normal in Japan). Room looked cleaned but a hair was found stuck on the bathroom wall.

things we noticed: toilet seat not heated (may not be important, but you notice it in the winter). can not direct direction of shower head well. on second day of a 3 day stay someone else assigned to our room, luckily we were in room when they tried to enter (their key card worked fine, deadbolt didn't prevent door from opening) cleared up misunderstanding with front desk staff, but made us a little uncomfortable about room security

Great location but not the bed

We were staying there as it’s a nice location for connection to Shirakawago and Kurobe Alpine. The location was great but Not the bed, too small for a couple (imagine can’t even comfortably fit 2 Asian adults) and the bed was too lousy that you can even feel the spring that you slept on. Both of us had a backache after 1st night stay there. On the 2nd night onwards, we have no choice but to sleep on the floor with the covering of the comforter sheet. I strongly don’t recommend this hotel although the location is just right opposite the Takayama JR station.

This is a new property in great condition. The only complaint is that the double bed is pushed against the wall in our room so one person has to climb into bed from the other side. We did enjoy the western style breakfast too.

The most disappointing feature of the room was that it was so tiny - really only a room for a single person. The bed was only three quarter size not even double and there was no room to open up a suitcase. Its best feature was its proximity to the railway station. There were other rooms in the hotel that appeared to be bigger. When booking you need to be aware that the 'special' deal is this sort of room.

We stayed just one night on our way to Shirakawa-go from Kyoto. It served the purpose without any problem. The hotel is visible when you come out of the station. The bus station is adjacent to the train station. So it worked well the next day to board the bus within minutes of leaving the hotel.

Stay spoilt by less than helpful staff. Only issued us with one card to get access to room and absolutely refused to allow my wife access until I arrived. Also did this with other guests. Had system allowing us to nominate not to have sheets changed for environmental reasons but ended up with new sheets and an unmade bed with old sheets. No big deal but ???

We chose this hotel specifically for its proximity to the station (JR Takayama) and to the rest of the sites in the town (which, I should mention, is very walkable). That's pretty much what attracted us to this hotel over others!

The group I was traveling with doesn't speak Japanese but all the staff we interacted with can speak English (handy if you have multiple room bookings under each individual's name)! Check in went smoothly and quickly, which was nice since we booked through Expedia.

There's also a konbini (convenience store) a block over from the hotel so no worries in case you need to dash outside for late night munchies.

It's an older hotel (which is pretty typical in smaller towns, I find) but clean. I won't be back in Japan for a while but I'd stay here again, due to the sheer convenience of its location.

If I had one improvement, maybe some listings of good restaurants nearby for dinner, and hours. We found that most restaurants were full and/or closed early when we arrived in the evening (which was around 6PM).

This room is clean. However, the room has no cool air AC. They have AC, but the hotel decided if the AC had cool air or warm air. It is impossible to sleep but to open the window risking flying insects. The room was really small and the hotel did not have an ice machine. they have an air-cooled box, not a real refrigerator.

The major plus of this hotel

The major plus of this hotel is its location across the road from te train station and bus station. Makes it an excellent choice to explore the surrounding areas of Takayama.
Hotel is clean and comfortable and the breakfast is quite tasty.

When they say small room, this is what they had in mind. Small for one person. Impossibly small for two. Enough room for one suitcase.

Even at the price I would not stay again. Just too small to be comfortable for a westerner. A double bed against the wall made tight sleeping for two.

Breakfast served on tray. Seconds for coffee, only.

Takayama is a small town so it was a short walk to the main sights. I still would try to find something larger next time.

It was only a five minutes walk, maybe even less, from the main train station.

Clean & convenient hotel, close to station

Room is a little worn & quirky, but you can't beat the location. Across the road from the station and an easy 15 minute walk from the old town centre. Staff were nice & efficient. Limited English spoken. The Japanese breakfast is excellent, especially the hoba miso! Would definitely stay here again.

Staff was not helpful on enquiries. At S$235.67 (abt Yen 19,640) for a double room on 4th May, hotel did not provide shower cap, laundry bag and breakfast!. Shaver given only on request.

Only saving grace was the hotel's location which was very near the train station.

Will not recommended this hotel at the cost they charge. There are more hotels beside but is was not under the Hotels.com chain.

Decent place, probably will stay there again.

The a.c. in the room did not work and the hotel is a little older of a structure. The room itself was fairly bigger than normal Japanese hotel standards. It is super close to the Takayama train station as well as the bus station that takes you to the tourist locations.

Great location just directly opp Takayama station with family mart just a stone throw away. For the price, it's fuss free budget but almost comfortable. Economy double room is small and bed fits 2 Asians but leaving hardly any room for turning. It's clean considering the age of hotel but opening the windows to sleep can be very noisy. We had railroad workers repairing/hacking the rails at 12+ midnight till 2am in the morning . Takayama is a small town and walkable to morning mkts and old town houses.

This is a good enough conventional hotel whose strongest point is the fact that it is directly across the street from where the Takayama train and bus station are. Facilities provided are pretty much standard. So for those who are looking to explore Takayama and the surrounding areas (means that you'll be out and about most of the day) and would like to have the convenience of being located VERY near to the main transport hub of the city, then you couldn't go wrong with this hotel.
