The place was very clean and well kept, we specifically looked for hotels where there’s a gym. Having access to the Equinox gyms — they’re big, clean, and the huge pool was such a nice bonus. Trayce and the staff were also very accommodating in communications with us throughout our time - making sure we have proper hydration, towels, and any amenities that we may have forgotten. It really made our stay that much more comfortable and enjoyable. We definitely look forward to staying at everyone at equatorial again!

This hotel claims to be a five-star property, but the only aspect that reflects that rating is the price. We stayed here for three nights and were shocked by the condition and cleanliness of the bathroom.
1.There was no hot water at first, and even after notifying the staff, it was only lukewarm.
2.The shower base and bathtub were surrounded by mold and dirt under the caulking.
3.The tile joints in the shower area were completely black and filthy.
4.The bathroom floor was covered with stains, dirt, and shoe scuffs.

The breakfast buffet was also disappointing compared to other five-star hotels in Vietnam.

Additionally, the hotel is located in a very poor neighborhood, on a street filled with used and salvaged motorcycle parts.

Overall, this hotel seems suitable only for tour groups who have no choice in selecting their accommodation.

If you’d like a stronger, softer, or more formal tone, I can adjust it!

I'm not trying to be racist or put down anybody from a different country, but the number of Chinese with their poor behavior just killed everything positive about this hotel. I stayed on the non-smoking floor, and the smell of smoke was so bad that it might have been a smoking floor. I'm sure the staff can smell it, but they didn't do a thing about it during my 4 nights there.
Had to call the front desk as I could hear these Chinese people yelling and screaming across the hallway with their doors open. Yet it took them an extra 15 minutes to even send anybody.
Next time I'm staying at the Nikko Hotel about 5 minutes away. If you have no other choice, make sure to ask if there are any Chinese tour groups nearby when checking in. Sorry to say, but they'll ruin everything good about the hotel and your stay.

We had a great stay at the Equatorial. We had kids also and the staff was friendly and helpful (sadly this is not the norm at all 5-star properties in Vietnam, so it was a nice experience). The pool is great, I would recommend a room by the pool. The food was also very food (slightly pricy compared to alternatives, but comparable). I would recommend this hotel as great option for visiting HCMC.

It’s a crime to have bad coffee in VN, capital of amazing coffee. Somehow this hotel manages to do this. Non smoking hotel but people still smoke. I had to complain twice about cigarette smell as soon as I left my room.

Very nice staff. Extremely helpful and polite. The room was clean and tidy. A nice balcony overlooking the city. The washing service was too expensive so I was disappointed with that. The washing was more than my clothes were worth. I should have checked so I do except that but was not expecting those prices. The pool area is lovely. Bar good service

I booked 2 rooms for 4 person , there should be arrangement to have both next or near by each other since my great aunt is 88 yrs old and have difficulty in walking. It’s long debate during the checkin !! The front desk lady kept insisted that No available rooms that could be arranged nearby. After almost an hour finally I did get what I asked for. The experience was Horrible. I stayed in Equatorial Hotel since 2014 whenever I visit VN .ot never experienced like this.
All other services are excellent. Staffs are professional and friendly most times. The bathroom towels needed to replace with newer towels , they were overused. Thanks

The hotel is beautiful, so clean, staff so helpful they cant do enough for you. The food (i am vegan) is so delicious. The hotel is a short taxi ride to all the main tourist landmarks. I stayed 2 nights. I read some of the other reviews and they got fruit juice upon arrival, turndown service with chocolates. I got none of that. The room was decent, a bit old but functional. The breakfast buffet was terrible. The orange juice was brown and tasted awful. The rice congee was too thick and full of lumps. They had a poor selection of fruits - no watermelon. The only thing that was really excellent was the gym and swimming pool. And the staff was helpful. Not sure I’d stay again.

The stay was okay, the reception was empty due to covid and the check in was very quick but dismissive as one lady came to check me in and left even before I left the counter. Also nobody showed me to the room and that’s never happened at any of the hotels in the city w similar prices.
I also left my initial reviews and they asked me about it at checkout which made it very awkward. My stay was pleasant enough until the check out when they confronted me about my one negative feedback I had.

Sheets & comforter in the room also had stains so I wasn’t thrilled about that either, and the bathtub had dark stains.

The staff and the restaurants are by far the best thing about this hotel; the rest is just mediocrity: the rooms are 1980s style: large but clunky; central aircon ..unable to adjust temperature, blowing warm air. Every night the noise of heavy room doors and wardrobes being shut. Our Non-smoking floor only by name - thick smell of cigarettes around. No electric sockets at bedside tables for charging phones. Temperamental electric control console for: A/C button turns on lights, pressing light buttons changes aircon settings etc. Whilst there is a desk in the room, the desk chair seating level is for midgets: the seating is so low one cannot even sit down properly to comfortably work ..my laptop keyboard is at at neck level -absolutely ridiculous.
The location of hotel is not the most suitable for business, ..no ATM's nearby, not even a 7-11 type shop; mobile phone reception only good if you are standing next to a window; wifi connection sluggish. During my stay, every day there were 2 busloads of tourists from mainland China ..incredibly noisy; the coffeeshop was like a busy bus station in rural China - pushing and shoving, noise +++
This place is good for Chinese tourists out to explore Saigon ..but it is simply not up to international standard.

A very enjoyable stay

This was our third stay at the Equatorial Hotel in the last six years. Each time we have taken advantage of the Club Lounge at an additional cost and have been very pleased with the benefits it provides. Although only a little more than 3 kms from the main part of town, walking is not an option but the hotel’s shuttle bus service is very good. Our room was well appointed and the bed was phenomenal. The pool provides welcome relief from the Saigon heat and the swim up bar is a top spot to enjoy a drink. The staff are very helpful but special mention must go to Ruby who has an eye for detail and really cares for her guests. I hope to return to the Equatorial for a fourth time in the future.

Very good option in Ho Chi Minh if you don't want to stay in the busier zone 1.
Great room (bathroom is a bit dated but in good condition), very spacious and well insulated room and comfy beds. Breakfast is good even in western choices and with eggs made on the spot.
Dinner options are ok but a bit pricy for vietnam. Pool is great, relatively quiet and with wet bar.
Gym is very good for a hotel.
The service is top class throughout and the English level is pretty good for Vietnam standards.

Bathroom is very basic and dated. Not the sort of bathroom I would expect to find in a 5 star hotel. Sound insulation poor. Could hear door bells of other rooms going through the night. Could hear people in the room above in their bathroom. There is a strange lighting system in the room. The lamp randomly turned on twice in the middle of the night and woke us up.

Except for my wife's hand bag was snatched.

It was not a safe location as on arrival while just walking on zebra crossing going for dinner just a few minutes away outside our hotel my wife's hand bag was snatched containing money exchanged and her iphone which took 2 hrs for police to register complaint and we were so terribly shaken that we felt insecure next few days even to go outside hotel.

The hotel was clean and spacious. Service and facilities were good. However, the shower knob that switches between bath tub and shower was hard to operate. Hotel was inaccessible from the city centre unless one takes the hotel shuttle bus or own transport/taxi. The surrounding neighbourhood did not have much restaurants etc. and felt a little unsafe.

Not so modern; it still has everything you need.

Check-in was ok, no hiccups whatsoever.
There is even a \"welcome drink\" dispenser next to the reception.
The staff I met spoke good English.
Wifi is limited to only two devices per room. There is free wifi in the common areas too; you just have to ask. Wifi speed is decent.
There is a pool which I sadly didn't utilise and a well-equipped gym.

Room was clean and of a good size. Bathroom was also very spacious.

The only issue which I had was the location. There is nothing interesting within walking distance around the hotel.
Having said that, the hotel does provide shuttle bus services to a few famous spots in town at selected timings.

Check-out wasn't that positive in my opinion. The staff who was serving me told me to wait while she contacted her colleagues to \"check\" my room. The staff then left me standing at the reception for a good 10-15 minutes while she ran off to entertain a couple of caucasian origins. Another receptionist saw me standing there like a Dodo approached me and offered to help. I told her the instructions given by the receptionist was to wait. This new receptionist then repeated everything the first staff did e.g checking of the room etc. At the end of it all, my Check Out was finally done and I exited the hotel.

This hotel was fine but l certainly class it a 5 star. It’s in district 5, a noisy toad selling exhaust pipes, car upholstery and smart phones. There are no restaurants and shops within walking distance.
The spa is average, not at all a relaxing, cheap products and inexperienced staff.
The pool is nice but be aware that swimming lessons take place most afternoons for locals.

Hotel is not that too old but definitely needs room carpet & bathroom tub/shower to be replaced totally. It has been used to the remains.
The pool is excellent & so are the ballrooms.
Location is not that great....cannot walk into restaurants or shopping. Basically its little interior. I used UBER to get around.
